Hello
i'm new to nexus 5 community having bought it just a week back. i think there are too many useless apps for me atleast which i'm not gonna use at all (ex: google play books, play games, play movies and specially google+)
i was just wondering if i root the device, delete all these apps from system and then unroot it and unlock the bootloader again, will I still be voiding my guarantee and will i be able to receive OTA updates from google??
please bear with my silly question as i'm completely new to all this stuff.
No, if you delete apps, you won't get otas. Read the general section stickies and they explain this in more detail.

You can just disable them if you like. No root even required. They will still take up space but they won't keep updating and OTA will work.

Disabled apps wont update from what I've seen. I've had a few Google apps disabled including Chrome. Only when I enabled Chrome again did it tell me it needed to update.

Thanks man. U r right. i disable google+ and it dsnt show in play store anymore. thanks
unnecessary programs
I also have same observation. There shud b some option where those softwares or programs which r not needed n they don't effect the system as well can b uninstalled. Disabling them just don't show them but still they occupy precious space.

Hi guys. I just updated my Nexus 5 to Lollipop 2 days ago, and this message keeps showing every once in a while, without any reason, it just appears for few seconds and disappears again, and then it shows up later again. It's not affecting my phone in any way, but it's bothering me. Can anyone explain what it means? I would appreciate it.
Regards.

It's basically developer speak for "Lollipop sucks and was rushed to market. Please revert to 4.4.4."
It is from some app u have installed.
Check for recently installed/ updated apps to find the root cause
Or try booting in safe mode and see..

Hi,
recently I've got the P8 Max and installed and updated everything.
Just today I noticed when Whatsapp is closed, I won't receive anything untill I open the app manually.
So no msg, no photo's, nothing, only until I open it. Also have the dotcover and when it's closed, same story.
Has Android 5.1.1 changed so you must keep apps open to receive notifications? The update also have been installed to the latest with B028.
I didn't have this problem when I had the Galaxy S5 with Andriod 4.2.2 or something like that but the latest Kitkat.
And abefore you ask, yes, it is also turned on in Protected apps.
Yes it has to be open in the background!
I see. So Android 5.1.1 has been changed and you have to keep apps for now open unlike Adroid 4.x.x?
Its a Huawei thing cause of its UI aka EMUI, if u delete/freeze the Huaweisystemonitor you get notifications without the app open im background!

Its Phone Manager, i had this also and froze it with Titanum Backup to fix it.

And to use Titanium Back, I have to root the phone?
I'm on update B028.
Yes to freeze apps you need root.

I solved this problem whit activate automatic sincronization
a question, I happened upon entering google play, I said it could not be installed on this phone?, I think I detected as tablet and not as mobile, so I had to go down the official website of WhatsApp, but what a pain in the ass, is that you have to synchronize that the battery is sufficiently drained, and I think from my point of view, the only option is to complain Huawei although I sent them emails or have I answered..pero me if we complain a lot I think that will make us case, sorry for my english i am spanish,i nice to meet you everyone in this forum

Hello
Recently, I tried to install the Netflix app in my device, FRD-L04, and notice it didn't appear in the search in the Play Store. Then, I proceed to search for it using my PC, found it and when trying to install to my device, there was the message that the app was not compatible with my phone.
I'm currently running update B385 but I believe I had the app when I was using B360. Does anyone else have experienced the same issue? I had to go to Netflix webpage and from there, download the APK for old Android versions (4.4 and later).
That's because you have your phone rooted.
Simply search and download the early version of Netflix (Netflix-4.16.1 build 15145) and you got it running.

As far as I know, my phone is not rooted. Just an unlocked bootloader, unless that counts as being rooted. Which would be weird, because I can still install Netflix in my old Nexus 7, which is not only booloader unlocked, but also flashed with a custom rom.
Just checked with a couple root checker apps and both of them tell me that my device is not rooted.
"... Just an unlocked bootloader..." That's Why!

Like Crake said, Netflix blocks downloading from devices with unlocked bootloaders, rooted or not. You can grab the latest APK from APKMirror, it should work fine.

Not trying to make a mess out of this. Just pointing out that it is weird that some devices do get blocked and other don't. I'll just download the apk and keep going. Thanks for your answers.

In case of Snapchat u can download app but u can't login in. If ur saftynet is tripped then u can't download apps like Netflix and u also can't use payment solutions like Android Pay.
People aren't concerned abt safety net to protect themselves from attackers it is more for the proper functioning of apps and services on ur phone.

Don't care - no Launcher fix.
Becoming sadder and sadder that such a great phone has this problem. HUAWEI, YOU DICKS! Allow us to change the launcher. Sigh.

If you have the Chinese AL00 version the posted [ROM][AL00] Mate 20 X GlobAL00ized beta [Debloated][Mostly Deodexed] rom fixes this issue!! You'd have to unlock the bootloader, install TWRP (also has been posted), format phone (including internal storage), install rom and optionally install Magisk for root. Using Nova with no issues selecting between Huawei Home and Nova from Default apps setting. Although it's using 175 and not 185.

That's one of the reasons i don't buy Chinese models. Works fine on EVR-L29 (C432)
I just want landscape on home screen for stock launcher. When I'm in recent apps in landscape and go back to home screen the home screen is in landscape for a split second. It looks so good.Too scared to do the root. Never have done that. If this was a 300 dollar phone I would try.

It won't work and fails. You have to flash stock recovery_ramdisk to do the update. Unless you're on [ROM][AL00] Mate 20 X GlobAL00ized beta [Debloated][Mostly Deodexed] rom in which case there are instructions to update to the new beta 2 version that will update to 185 during the process.
Huawei just push this update today to my phone as well.. I just said pass ! I will not Update from 175 to 185 since i see no improvements !
The only thing that upset me is the Option that 185 brings : Automatically Add Watermark Logo to Photos taken with Back camera !
Why you do this Huawei ! WHYYY.... Free advertising is good isn't ?
What if i want to post a pic to IG and i don't want people to see it was taken with my phone ... ?! Huawei is pushing our boundaries really hard... First, it was the Bootloader lock, then no 3rd Party Launchers, now Automatically Add watermark to our photos... Hmmm...

That setting is already there, it's just set to off now. The new firmware probably just defaults to on, so simply turn it off in camera settings.

Had the same reaction at first but when I checked it was indeed a setting and to be honest upon reflexion it would have been a dumb move from them to force a watermark/logo on photos
Hey, I was wondering if there is a way to disable/uninstall system apps without root. In this specific case, I would like to remove YouTube and Google Duo, however, I tried to disable + force stop the apps but they reappear after a while. Next I tried to disable them via ADB but even then they reappeared like nothing happened.
I'm currently using a OnePlus 7 Pro on the latest OOS, I rather not root the phone just yet. As I don't want to void my UK warranty.
Any suggestions would be welcome
