Hello,
I am flashing a custom rom and using TWRP for the first time. When restoring, there are 3 checkboxes (system, data, and boot)
What do the boot and system options mean?
Kernel aka boot.img
Keep it checked. Otherwise, you may have an incompatible kernel for your ROM and will get bootloops.

Thanks. So when i install a new rom, i only need to check boot and data?
Because at first, i checked all 3 and i ended up where i started (without the new rom installed).

The restore and backup options have nothing to do with flashing a new rom. When flashing a new rom wipe, system, data cache, and dalvik. Then flash the rom

Also make sure to backup your EFS folder in TWRP and store it on your PC. Better safe then sorry
Not sure what the EFS folder is, but thanks. So i ran into another problem. I lost my root access (not sure how). So i would have to reroot now and i bet that EFS folder is gone. I still have my Nandroid backup from before.
Thanks

You can root with TWRP itself or flash superSU.zip 1.94 (http://download.chainfire.eu/396/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.94.zip) in recovery. Your EFS folder isn`t gone.

Whenever I do a backup or a restore, I check data, system, and boot.
When installing a new ROM, Wipe System, Data, Cache, and Dalvik. Then flash.
Search the forum for nexus 5 efs backup. Its always a good idea.

So i downloaded the superSU.zip 1.94 file and attempted to flash in TWRP in recovery. The menu options are not the same since i've lost root access. It takes me to the advanced menu with ADB Sideload, Terminal Command, etc. So how do i flash superSU from here? Help please!

Sorry for don't knowing the correct section for this thread.
I installed a custom rom (CM 10.1, with special settings and software) to an Android phone (Samsung GT-S7710).
Now I have to copy this exact system to about 150 devices of the same type.
Is this possible with an cwm backup??
I've also tried to build a odin flashable *.tar file, but don't successful.
What's the best way to make an image of the entire Android system, with all the settings and data. (if possible also from the internal sdcard)
ps.: I have to do the same with a samsung galaxy tab 2 7.0
Thanks very much in advance!

Make a new nandroid back up after toggling the flight mode and then use the new one to modify all the other devices.

Thanks for your help, but it's still not working. I'm using the cm 10.1 rom by flxo.
I flashed the correct stock rom (like flxo mentioned) and installed the custom rom, but the signal returns not before toggling the flight mode or waiting for about 10 minutes...
Any other ideas?

Thanks for your reply. What's the best way to restore the data partition on Samsung Phones?
I tried to "dd if=...mmcblk0p25 of=...extsdcard/data.img" - then (in cygwin) I made a tar.md5 out of it and triet to flash it with odin???
But it didn't work.
I'm on 44S firmware and want to flash CM12 so I have unlocked the bootloader, installed Philz Recovery 6.59.1 and wiped cache/dalvik and install new ROM option but the recovery can't seem to find the .zip files I put on the phone?

I'd advise you to use TWRP instead of Philz
I agree, use TWRP recovery instead, it's much better.

Since I've wiped cache/dalvik and install new ROM option, the .zip files should remain on my phone memory?

TWRP backup for 5.1 system and boot to run it on N910H
rom based on N910CXXU1COH4
Installation
1- extract the file and copy the extracted file to TWRP folder in internal storage
2- reboot into recovery
3- make a full wipe ( dalvik , data & system)
4- go to restore option
5- select backup file and swipe to restore
6- reboot and enjoy ! ^__^
Download Link
*IMPORTANT NOTES
1- for people who their TWRP cant detect backup file follow this steps :-
1- enter recovery
2- make a small backup like backup for boot only
3- reboot and go to my files
4- copy the backup folder of this rom which called 2015-08-26--18-57-38_LMY47X.N910CXXU1COH4 to the small backup folder
5- reboot to recovery and follow the steps above
2- root is not available for this rom yet ! so dont try to flash supersu.zip or flash supersu.tar cause you will have bootloop
3- this ROM made to N910H , so if you want to try it on N910C or N910U try it on your own risk
Thanks. I hope Efs is not included in this backup.

i dont use flashify, but i think you just pick the one you want, then click install.
if you want more clarification on how to install it properly, im sure there is a twrp thread in the n4 forum which will provide instructions to install it.
I have copied the frank-mako rom(201mb) and Banks-Gapps6(199mb) zip files in my nexus 4 along with the TWRP-2.8.7.0-Mako.img(8.82mb).
Now what steps should I take to update my Nexus 4 to Marshmallow? Please help me. Thanks in Advance
Go on to flaah recovery and then clean flash rom and reboot. After reboot dont do anything just switch off and boot onto recovery and flaah gapps and then do a normal bootto use rom and enjoy.

while i agree people need to learn how to do it the right way, i am well versed in adb and fastboot, but i have use wugs forever and never had an issue.
i have to believe most of the problems come from user error, which the same could be said for manual installs. wug makes a solid tool and has put a ridiculous amount of work into it.
however, im not sure if it can install a custom rom, regardless, if you cant flash a zip without a tool, you shouldnt be modding anything, i def agree with that
Hi guys!
I have created a TWRP flashable zip of latest Stock Nougat Rom for MS428.
Requirements:
(1) Unlocked Bootloader
(2) TWRP
Steps:
(1) Download the ZIP
(2) Copy it to your phone.
(3) Reboot into TWRP.
(4) Select "Install". Select the zip file you downloaded in the first step.
(5) Swipe to flash. Wait for it to flash. It might take some time. Wipe Dalvik/Cache to avoid bootloops.
(6) Select Reboot.
You have successfully flashed Nougat!
If you want root, download SuperSu Flashable Zip. Reboot into TWRP. Select the SuperSu flashable zip. You have successfully rooted!
I will keep updating the ZIP as and when LG releases a new ROM or patch.
Added download link.
