Since sense 5 official ota update sound has become worser,,probably the worst i have heard in earphones in any phone,,
Too much distortions at full volume
Any Fix?
Sent from my HTC One XL using xda app-developers app
I haven't noticed a significant change in headphone sound with Sense 5. Also to be clear, are we talking wired headset, or Bluetooth?
As to the fix, you've already been instructed (several times) how to downgrade to Sense 4+ in timmaaa's n00b thread; if that is what you want to do.
Alternately, you can try an equalizer app, or flash a custom AOSP ROM with DSP Manager, to see if tweaking helps at all.
Don't see the point in starting 2 new threads, for essentially the same question.
I Meant Wired Headset & Turn Beats Off then volume will be very low as compared to sense 4 when we turn beats off
Is it necessary to s off or should i just unlock bootloader & install sense 4 rom via recovery?

Someone on here commented that the volume is artificially reduced when Beats is off, to make you think that Beats magically makes the music "louder". I'm not sure if this applies only to Sense 5, or if its something that was there before, but maybe made more pronounced with Sense 5. If you don't like the equalizer profile of Beats, maybe you can use an equalizer app (as I already suggested) to tweak it more to your liking, while keeping the "higher" volume level made possible by having Beats on.

You've asked the same question in timmaaa's n00b Q&A thread. Its really confusing when you jump back and forth between threads. Folks may end up needlessly duplicated efforts. This is the reason why you shouldn't create or post the same questions in multiple threads ("cross posting"). I'll keep my answers to the bootloader unlock question in the n00b Q&A thread.
Ok and kindly tell about ur hd phone's hd video playback & reply me in ask anything thread too please

Hello everyone, I am starting this thread to find if there are any Devs who can figure out on what is really wrong on the Sensation's speaker volume.
My experience during my HD2 days, I flashed different android roms with some low volume and some have high or loud volume. I think it had to do with the Rom. Is there any ways for the Devs who will make or currently making custom roms to take a look on this? Maybe there is an adjustment in the rom itself where you can override or adjust the overall volume of the speaker. Just a thought, thank you all more power.

Gave ya a thanks for asking this one in the hopes that a dev takes notice.
The external speaker volume ( or lack thereof ) is the only thing that chaps my ass about the Sensation.
You should try using Volume+ it solved my speaker problem

Using it now with the settings suggested in one of the posts around here, it's still pathetic ( almost as pathetic as my old ass ears ).
voodoo sound and video is what the sensation needs combine that with OC/UV it will be insane
Great question, imho. Still have my HD2 (soon upgrading to Sens.), and I'm well aware of the volume level being all over the place with different roms. It seemed as if they weren't even aware, although with all the complaints I don't understand how.
Volume+ is a band-aid workaround, while the issue should just be fixed altogether. I doubt it's a hardware issue.
Volume+ does works
Did you try Equaliser or DSP Manager?
Boosting treble can increase the volume output

midrange is most of the good volume. I think we have plenty of treble already. I boost +15 with a slight mid hump and it sounds great!
I got to play with an evo this past weekend and the volume on that phone is incredible. I'm hoping to get nearly the same levels from my sensation. Tried the market fixes with no real improvement. Thanks for bringing this issue up. The previous answers to the problem were either the market app fixes or wait till s-off. Now we have it....subscribed.

Volume+ and equalizer works, but it would be nice to have a volume hack like the Inspire built into the roms.

I agree with you all about the App market volume or any other, but would like a built in the Rom itself, permanent.

I'm also disappointed with volume on htc sensation. I've tried volume+ but it made no difference!
Interesting question. Following this post now.
Anybody knows if there is a working version of DSP manager for the Sensation??!

Same here.
Even tried to play with the echosettings and stuff, but nothing happened.
Alas Volume+ is not compatible with all custom roms, Equaliser and DSP are...from my experience on DHD.
On N1 volume boost was included in Kernels
If the Sensation has the same speaker as N1 and DHD don't expect miracles, the trick is too boost treble to the maximum, it will make ringtones loud but it will kill the quality too.
The only 2 things that are refraining me to swap my sgs2 to Sensation are the speaker and death grip
Hey guys,
When I first got my inspire I loved the audio output coming from the headphone Jack. I am now running the android revolution rom and the sound quality sounds like it leaves something to be desired on the lower end frequencies, I was wondering if anyone else noticed this and what you did to fix it
Thanks
Sent from my Inspire 4G using xda premium
ARHD 6.1.0 has known audio issues on the Inspire (judging by the comments in the dev thread). Earlier versions may need the Inspire tinny fix applied to them (link is in the dev thread).
BTW your question would be better placed in the Q&A thread for ARHD.
Youre right, my apologies. Can the mods please move this to the right section?
And while I'm at it ill ask this question to everyone. Which ROM have all of you found to have the best sound quality?
I came from a Captivate and the Voodoo sound enhancement made phone sound better than my laptop with SRSwow sound effects. I was hoping this phone would be just as good if not better with the Dolby and SRS built in
*EDIT* I was using poweramp then decided to give playerpro with the DSP pack a try and it sounds waayyy better. Definitely worth a try

Yeah I never had a problem with the sound in the stock firmware. It was a lot better considering I came from an x10 which had horrible quality. Depends on what your standards are.
Can we get this on the sk4g? I saw some posts with people adding it in and what not on other forums.

Can you define what you're looking for, or link to another thread where they did this? I'm not sure what is being asked, from what I've seen from commercials, Beats audio is a hardware piece (never looked into it though, so I'm probably dead wrong).
the hardware limit is +5db from what i have seen via voodoo control so maybe not possible

It says sense roms only, it works through the HTC music player so I dunno if there is a way around it using the music app. It would be a sweet feature to have although I dunno how much we can trust the sound quality coming from a bunch of rappers they probably just turned the bass up to max and labelled it "beats" audio ;P
In my experience, Voodoo tends to make it sound better, rather than Beats, which makes it sound louder *my opinion*
I would suggest that you try out one of the Voodoo kernels with the Voodoo Control app and see if that sound quality sounds better to you.
Yes, the hardware limit is +5db.
In that thread they're saying that there's much more bass (no suprise) and clearer sound, which already comes in Voodoo (there's even a bass boost option).

Doing some reading on the HOX forums; I take it this isn't hardware dependent like Voodoo Sound is correct? I've read around about the Bravia XLOUD engine being moved around but not enough comparisons.

It basically driver-libs driven mod. The audio fx widget enables the massive boost in audio output when turned on. There is a flat eq which just boost audio output like no other. It's a mixture between hardware/software mod.

mmm...running on Yuma75s AOKP Build 40 ROM using only headphones (Brainwavz M4 IEMs)
-On EQ 1: I can definitely tell there's a cleaner output in vocals and the higher frequencies.
-Beats Audio Bass definitely is noticeable and does sound nice: nicer than the Sys apk "Awesome Beats" equalizer variant of Beats Bass.
-I added the two lines to the build.prop and noticed cleaner output from my lower-bit files.
-I didn't notice an overall audio output from the music though the same way Voodoo Control's Headphone Amp does it though.
-Mixing both Voodoo and this mod together with the right equalizer setting is pretty heavenly.
I hope this one fixes problem that I have with my Three way earbuds that has lower volume than four way earbuds.

Yeah this plus voodoo just makes it almost perfect. This uses filters and library based on the phone. I advise to not use auto volume. Set gain to 5 then get it rip.

Sorry if this is completely obvious, what do the various settings in Audio fx do? Dialog mode doesn't bring up a dialog that I can find and I'm not sure what I'm toggling with Toggle mode. And 'restore defaults' restores the phone to it's default settings, is that right? I'm a little unsure about how well the flash went because in the post you link to in the OP, there are controls, but I can't find any on my phone... unless I should be using the DSP Manager?

Pull it up as a widget. Settings in the apps section affect how it will work and appear as a widget. Once you see the widget..it will make more sense to you.
this MAY be obvious to others, but just want to clarify. I have been known to be kind of a dullard.
i am running Cypher ROM, do we just flash this on top of the Rom, like GAPP's ?
i know your title suggests what this will work with, as always, i just want to be 100% sure.
if this is what i hope it is, this and YOU are my savior. everything in this new flood of development is great with ICS & JB. my only personal issue has been sound of music.
NOT THE MOVIE.
it has been a little lacking compared to GB. i am not complaining, every other part of development lately has been ORGASMIC.
wondering if this is my answer ???

neat! "music effects" under settings->sounds works now
I can now pick "MusicFX" and instead of FCing it just takes the setting rocks the head phones now

So I just realized tha even though this phone has been advertising its "amazing" sound system with the beats logo and such, the media output throught speakers is too damn quiet. Nokia phones go louder. So I was looking for a way to increase the out put with a mod or app. I tried volume+ already and no good. +1 . i used volume+ on my hov with no problem but it dont work on hos. The volume levels are awful, even my mates galaxy ace blows it away on volume . surely there must be a way to boost the max levels for ringtones etc??

What I have done is bump my ringtone's volume on the pc (with audacity). Not really a solution, but...
You've got to bump and try on the phone to see the limit over which it gets distorted.
