I'll point you to my post asking the question yesterday
Basically it's not too difficult however I'll do this favor for you right now - flashing the recovery wasn't step by step from the guide. I'm guessing loki_flash was updated since the time that guide was written or I was overlooking something. Inside the recovery zip you choose you'll find a copy of loki_flash and loki_patch and a script loki.sh. If you read loki.sh in a text editor you'll see how to use loki_patch to make the recovery.img into recovery.lok and then you can flash the recovery.lok file.
Hopefully I was just overlooking something and you can follow step by step but this should at least point you in the right direction if you don't.

[Q] [how to]?? edit boot.img

Hey guys I was wondering if anybody would guide me to successfully edit the boot.img and then repack it.
I have tried several times to edit this using the guide found here:
http://android-dls.com/wiki/index.php?title=HOWTO:_Unpack,_Edit,_and_Re-Pack_Boot_Images
but every time I repack the boot.img and try to flash it the phone goes in a boot loop.
Any ideas how I can fix this??
Thanks in advance
I'm having the same issue, more than likely you'll have to use a hex editor like hex workshop, my problem is i'm not sure where the boot header ends and the kernel begins or where the ramdisk should end and if there are any other pieces in there that need to be separated. Would love it if someone knowledgeable would care to share!!
yes I came across a guide that mentioned the use of hex editors but to be honest I wouldn't even know where to begin with it... I followed the official guide which was posted here in xda as well but i just cant seem to get it right even though I follow the steps in minute detail. Hope somebody is able to help us soon because I want to be able to use adb remount
EDIT: I found a link (thanks to freddyemmer) that seems to explain in more detail how to edit the boot.img is kinda general first but then goes into specifics for my device, hopefully the general guide will help you

Here is a link to a tool to do this for you straight from the gnex forums.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1614827
Manually:What you need to do is find the actual cwm img to flash with fastboot.
Then use the supersu zip to flash supersu.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1538053
If you want to support me then you can use my environment for adb by using the link in my signature.
Just run the script and place what you need in the created Work folder.
Then flash with instructions.
Or use my shortcuts to flash with fastboot.
example given in line by line format:

Alright thanks I will try this.

I started working on my lg stylo from cricket with no idea what I was doing. All ive really done is allow root, and have supersu with busybox. Other than that I've just been pulling my hair out because of lg bootloader lock. I've found some things about adb straight on the device to bypass bootloader. One thing I have found through my research is a guide with the "factory firmware". I haven't had a chance to try it, but I will post it for those who can try it out.
Also I too have a lot of questions specifically about the lg g stylo. I have h634 (from cricket) and want to work on roms/kernels and remove ALL bloatware. Most importantly, I would like to learn how to set the external sd card as "default" storage.
If you have useful info on the cricket variant of the stylo or know of anything that might help, you can send it my way. Also, I do have much more I have found about the stylo and love to share. Don't be afraid to ask me something. I will do my best to help you, as I too will be learning while trying to help.
If you want the link for the guide, just send me a personal message or simply reply to this post. I apparently can't post outside links until I've made 10 posts on the site. With this being my very first post, I guess I have 9 more to go lol.
Remember to follow instructions carefully and use at your own risk. I have not tried this and cannot vouch for it. Good luck and let me know how it goes.

I bought the .TOT and .dll files from some non-LG site online; files over 1gb give me a lot of trouble to upload to Gdrive or Dropbox, and Mega.nz seems to give problems over time, so I've uploaded and am seeding (along with several others who are getting it from me) a zipped archive containing the .TOT & .dll files for the Cricket H634 LG G Stylo STOCK Firmware! Here's a link and also I've attached the torrent file in case the link dies : https://kat.cr/cricket-lg-g-stylo-h634-firmware-android-5-1-1-t12571867.html
Also I wrote a readme.txt containing instructions for how I did it, with programs too (LG Flash Tool 2014). It took me a while, so be sure to read it!
Peace
torrent download failed
please can anyone upload the files to a download server like MEGA or MEDIAFIRE, most of us cant download files from a torrent. Please help us!!!!. Upload the files to MEGA. DROPBOX or MEDIAFIRE!!!
thanks in advance...
Ok, so this will be the TOT and dll, you will need to install lgflashtool to flash it. Be glad, I had to hunt for hours for these. https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B9AUqOIj9fgTSDlLNDJHcUlINjg . Enjoy ladies and gents. https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B9AUqOIj9fgTVmZHb0s0YjJTTFE lgflashtool 2014

This restores your device to factory. As of now there are no custom roms or custom recovery. To root, you can use Kingroot.
I have downloaded all of the drivers and lg flashtool as well as the .tot and .dll files. Moved everything where it needs to be, but when I enter download mode and connect the phone to my computer it isn't detected. It is detected any other time as in when my phone is booted up normally. Can someone please point me in the right direction. I have tried different drivers.
I've got the cricket LG G Stylo and I've managed to find the OEM Unlock. Has anyone else found it? Isn't that is what's needed to unlock bootloader?

ROOT for H810 10o

Hello everyone, I made a rooted image of 10o in case you are in the same build.
Use it at your own risk, Iam not responsible if you brick your phone or any data loss.
CREDITS:
@thecubed for root tool folder and send_command codes
@autoprime for the send_command backup code
@hackarchive for his root injection thread
Here we go:
0.- Download the rootedsystem.img unzip it and place it at the root of your internal storage.
1.- Make sure your phone is at H81010o build, you have to enable OEM unlock at developers options then mark usb debugging. Plug in your phone and authorize the debugging connection.
2.- You must have drivers and this tools. I suggest to extract the LG Root to C:
3.- If you have all of above set then turn off your phone and boot to download mode (press vol+ and power at the same time). Once you are in, plug your phone and open the LG Root folder and will see file named ports.bat make double click on it and look for the line with the DIAG1 words(usually is the last line) and check the port number(COM**) at the end of the line and write it if you want.
4.- At the LG Root folder press SHIFT key and right click at any empty space and select open command window. Once opened write
Send_Command.exe \\.\COM(put your port number) and press enter. I suggest to copy/paste the commands.
5.- This step is optional. If you want to make a back up write dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0 bs=8192 skip=65536 count=579584 of=/data/media/0/system.img Don't disconnect the phone until the # sign appear again, then write LEAVE and your phone will restart. The img will be at your internal storage, move the system.img at your HDD or any safe place you want in case you need it. IF THE # DONT APPEAR BY ANY CAUSE CLOSE THE WINDOW AND DO IT AGAIN SINCE STEP 4.
6.- Ok, this is the final step if you didnt made the 5 step. Write dd if=/data/media/0/rootedsystem.img bs=8192 seek=65536 count=579584 of=/dev/block/mmcblk0 and wait until the # sign appear again and write LEAVE. Your phone must restart and you have a rooted phone. :silly: IF THE # DONT APPEAR BY ANY CAUSE CLOSE THE WINDOW AND DO STEP 4 AND 6 AGAIN.
You can debloat as much as you want but don't erase the AT&T READY TO GO apk(Im pretty sure) and MY AT&T apk(Im not sure of this apk) because if you make a reset will crash the setup wizard and you will have a little trouble.
Don't forget to hit thanks if I helped you in any way. Sorry for my bad english.

Sorry for the bump, guys, but I was never updated to o, I've been at 81022f for a whooole minute. Any suggestions, even ironic, succinct barbs for not being able to locate the obvious (get stock firmware for o, flash it, flash root solution), but unlike Samsung, which imo sucks in literally every other way, allows it to be provided for ODIN all firmware I've needed.... Lg is oddly stingy.
Please help, guys. I'll buy a beer, or contribute to their favorite contributer, to anyone that throws me the right way... I abhor 95% of comments. They are one liners demanding help without... I could go on. I'll do the work, but I really REALLY need to use this phone, rooted, which I always do... But I can't seem to find a way this time.

I didn't wish to bother you until something happened, and on March 8th I see that it did; now, something else will happen: I am going to be donating to you.
I will get into the thick of unlocking and then will likely get sidetracked, job/et al to hell, but whether I succeed or fail, you deserve madmadmadmad props.
Oh, and if I don't follow up on donating within 48 hours, I would take it as the greatest insult if you do not shame me absolutely everywhere.

LG [H915] VTR(videotron) ROOTED UNLOCKED + LTE - ALL IS DONE [100%] -man-FIRE

Hello everybody,
I make this tutorial for help every body with H915 model to have a rooted and working device with bell and videotron network.
I try all tutorial on this website and pass more 12 hours to try to find a working solution.
Great THX to Great thx to - DirtySanta + TheDantee + USA-RedDragon + jcadduono, the 4 guys make 99% of the job but
I confirm you the H915 with locked version of videotron dont work with dirtySanta or TheSanta post.
( the US997 rom form sprint boot and root is enabled but you cannont use bell DATA network, phone network yes )
I going to fix the tutorial and general and right proper solution, thx to
( me2151 and FijNNY to be 2 square head and dont understant what is the real status of user with H915,
I dont know where come your H915 but your tutorial not working after few try... and thx for *****ing me
I going to make a perfect "real" solution for the H915 videotron locked version )
So 03/29/2017 some update come in your face see you tomorrow.
I am not a genious, only french canadien with time to lose, i going to try to do my best, my english is not perfect.
if is possible admin, please move my post to the root section !
I just use some part of each to complete the kick in the ass for completely root a 100% the LG v20 canadien version. ( no lag with LTE )
The first thing - the only working way at this time, you need to convert your H915 to US996
Please read carrefully TheDantee ( thx bro ) tutorial and execute the Step 1 to Step 17
https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/development/h915-root-guide-restore-bricked-lg-v20-t3529649
after you done, reboot and go back to the recovery again.
At this point with the H915 canadien version if you use the recovery us996 or h918 this make no difference all the way TWRP detect a fake H918
you need to install with twrp the custom kernel AngryAlbatross (1.1)
https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/development/kernel-werewolf-kernel-t3541485
after this is done, if you try to install the us996 deODEd version you have again a h918 error message so i just make some edit on the zip file to make a fake h918 version with the complety version of us996 deODEd
you can download the file here : US996-fake-h918-bypass-for-canadien-VTR-h915-version_deODEXd_Stock_NRD90M-manfire
After you install everything just reboot and go to the system. ALL IS GOING TO CRASH DONT PANIC, the thing is at this point you LG V20 H915 is now a complete us996-D version.
You need to use this version of UPPERCUT http://downloads.codefi.re/d/iWr_Rt...rime/LG/Flash_Tools/LGUP/UPPERCUT_1.0.0.0.zip only this one work well.
For activated the LTE and dont crash and everyhing you need to use the UPGRADE bouton TO turn your US99610d fake version to the US99610F with this .kdz file
https://lg-firmwares.com/get/216853b4406d254e373f986d3d5469b6/US99610f_00_1205.kdz
So now the lg officiel software upgrade your H915 to US996f like a original at this point your cellphone is NOT ROOTED but you have the LTE network and allmost stable version ( just remove the original lock screen ).
you want the root now ? is not finish my friend.
you need to do again all step to go on the recovery again - stop at STEP 10
Please read carrefully TheDantee ( thx bro ) tutorial and execute the Step 1 to Step 10
https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/development/h915-root-guide-restore-bricked-lg-v20-t3529649
When you are in the recovery, if you want to **** your us996f just install superSu SR1 ( dont do that ) !!!!!
you need to install a new kernel ( this is the only way if you want to root it ), thx to jcadduono !
https://build.nethunter.com/nightly...ethunter-h918-nougat-3.15.4-20170211-0304.zip
dont ask me WHY, i dont know without this kernel you cannont install supersu and have the LTE up ...
is not finish, dont ask me WHY AGAIN but you need to install the complete package too !!
https://build.nethunter.com/nightly...-kalifs-full-rolling-3.15.4-20170211-0304.zip
and the last install is ( dont ask me why )
come back to the AngryAlbatross (1.1) https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/development/kernel-werewolf-kernel-t3541485
after - wipe - format - yes
after advanced wipe ONLY [ Dalvik, Data and Cache ]
You going to see a beautiful RED triangle, just ignore it ... after the kali logo, boot is done my friend you have now LTE us996f with superSu ( go to google store, download and install it, binary is done ) + kali complete mod... just remove it if you dont want it ...
I make all the test on my LG-h915 videotron and is now with unlocked network BELL LTE + SuperSu rooted all the way kick in ass lg v20 .
Thx to everybody,
Why do this? there is already a 915 root guide...
please be serious, the other solution not working at all ..., I try the other solution and this is not possible to upload the us996 model on twrp, the root guide work with laggy and no network.

You please be serious. Your guide here is really unorganized, I can understand some spelling and grammar errors but Holy Hell dude... You didn't even spell Canadian right... You did not even attempt to clean it up at all. the other root guide works for others. if it didnt work for you then you did something wrong... It seems like you think @TheDantee guide is the one im talking about. im talking about the ACTUAL H915 root guide.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/how-to/v20-h915us996-dirtyelf-bootloader-t3568013
Enjoy.
The think is .... my english is bad but my solution work, it really frustrated to say something wrong ... check the reply of the people... anyway I just want to help so i think some people prefer a working solution not a good spelling solution, if you are not interested just keep this post!

I understand that English is not your first language. What I am saying that there is already a working solution.
Can you please stop spamming your link on my guide and remove them. It is unessary to follow thedantes guide using the H918 TWRP and your modified file. This guide could cause more problems instead of fixing them.
The other solution just dont work, remove it if you want ! dont really care but you dont think to other people !
Is this the root to work on LTE Band 66? I'm on Freedom (Wind) in Toronto.

Did you not read his guide he clearly states,"I am not a genious, only french canadien with time to lose, i going to try to do my best, my english is not perfect."
"canadien" is how French people spell it, do you watch hockey, look at how the Montreal Canadiens is spelled not Montreal Canadians.
Anyway there is currently no root for our V20s from Freedom or Videotron since the Bootloaders are locked. I have tried. I cant say that this method works since IK am not willoing to try it until my warranty is up. But I have done a similar process on an old samsung from Wind mobile , Had to convert it to a T mobile version in order to root, ****ty thing was I could not return it to original version.
I'm guessing that the H915 on Rogers also has a locked bootloader?
Thanks for the write up. I've been hesitant to root without being able to rollback to stock. However, I'm too bored of stock to care any more so i'll try this.
I just purchased a V20 and have always rooted my phone. I found out after buying it, it came from Videotron. Does anyone else have any more experience with this guide?
Awesome with one major issue.
I realize this is an older write up, however, this is what worked for my Canadian Freedom V20 H915. I spent 24 hours with other methods and none of them worked properly. I would either end up in loops or permanent static. So thank you for this method and write up as it is the only one that has my phone rooted and functioning.
Here's my problem:
After an unspecified time after each boot, the touch screen stops functioning. My guess is the kernel? Anyone else experiencing this or know of a possible solution?
Thanks.

Ok, thanks. I'll install it later tonight and see if it helps Would it be helpful to rewrite this guide and post it up in a more organized, concise fashion if the new kernel fixes the issue? Is it bad sport to repost something like that?

this is actually the most recent and easiest guide for h915 that I used to get my h915 rooted.

That one just ends up with a permanent static screen for me. Tried it 5 or 6 times. Boot 1 = never boots, Boot 2 = permastatic.

yes boot2 suppose to give static. that means dirty santa/elf has worked. Dirtysanta/elf causes static on all v20 models.
Now it was matter of flashing an updated us996 rom and updated kernel that fixes static on boot like mk2000 us996 santa bttf.
