Hello all
Stuck with my old P500 for a couple of weeks so I've decided to try a couple different roms, I'm running the : [DEV][ROM][4.4.2][CM11] KITKAT for LG-P500 [WIP][VER-10 OTA]
At the moment, but it's too slow, everything lags on the phone, so basically looking for the fastest stable rom where tethering works, I don't care if it's gingerbread, ICS jelly bean etc, just want the fastest, any one got any recommendations?
Thanks

I am using the same KITKAT rom VER-10 , Running smooth..
Lag may be because of low internal memeory.. Use Link2sd n move apps to sd-ext , that would free up some space on the internal memory.
If u want to go back to older roms..
Try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1574523
stock ROM looks and feel..
OR Try hephappy's rom for ICS
http://www.mediafire.com/download/m3nqsrfyyjmry9e/cm-9.2.3-ICS-PLUS-p500.zip (Not sure if Tethering works.. Find out)
Every version of that ROM I've tried lags, my internal memory is 60mb i can't move anything else over via link2sd most of it's system apps, everything lags for me, even typing a text message takes forever..
Thanks I'll check those out.

Tethering works on ICS and JB too but phone reboots after turning it off.
It's completely functional without that little flaw.

I vote for one of the Oxygen roms:

The first one wins for me in the speed/battery life category.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of using one of those versions

> ICS is fast in terms of performance, it also have this 3D hardware acceleration, drains battery a bit faster than gb and froyo.. but ICS uses more RAM ans eats more space on system partition unlike GingerBread where in you'll get about 300mb free RAM and 120+ mb free internal memory (google apps included) already. Disadvantages of ICS as for now.. is HQ video play back.
ICS feels much smoother and beautiful than GB, but it's unusable for me because of high RAM usage and HQ video bug
GB is stable and best for our beloved optimus p500 ! Whereas ICS is unstable because of HQ video recording & playback!

yup at the moment GB is at the top with everything working(ignorin minorities)..
Im back to ginger

ICS feels smoother, and visually is awesome. But has the issue of the openmax libs.
GB depends on the rom that you use. Its estable and many roms are for daily use.
The question is if you are a uses it only for calling, messaging and sometimes needs a faster loading speed. [ICS].
Or for multimedia. [GB]
Are you talking here about stock GB vs. custom ICS or compairing both custom roms?
I wonder which are adv. and disadv. between stock GB and custom ICS?
Is it better or 'natural' for our device to run on (rooted) stock GB?

Both custom
may i throw in a third option beside ics and gb?
when i got my device i immediatly updated to gingerbread...
was nice, everything worked and it had nice battery...
seeing so many devices on market with ics i also wanted it and i got hephappys cm9...
sometimes crashes but less than on cm7 after gingerbread...
everything worked fine but as already mentioned less sys space...
now when jelly bean is released i searched for a cm 10 for the o1 because it was supposed to run smoother and that stuff..
currently im running cm10 on my phone, the battery life is not best, its ok, and the camera works even with some glitches.
when you can live with those i would really suggest you to try jb cause its MUCH smoother than gb and ics, you have cool new features like the notification system and google now, still not with voice but it is on its way
just my 10 cents

ICS > GB
If you are looking for battery life, stock ROM (GB) is best. But once you flash ICS, then it's hard to go back, really!!
ICS feels much different and intuitive than GB. Though battery drain is a problem with custom ROMs.
I am currently using Hephappy rc-2 prerelease CM9 ROM.
Almost all features works with only new glitches. Waiting for Final release with curiosity!
After using ICS, I feel GB an outdated looking ROM.
So, don't use ICS rom, otherwise you ll never be able to use GB!!

One more thing, Browsing is more than 2x faster on ICS ROMs than GB!!!!

Not true.
Stock ICS keyboard just works.
Now get rid of any ordinary keyboards and get Swype. I use bi-lingual Swype here and it works REALLY smoothly and beautiful.
Use minimal ics keyboard from themes and app section only 1.3 mb.

My favourite: GB 2.3.3 + custom kernel
1. Stock GB 2.3.3 + custom kernel.
2. GB 2.3.7 (CyanogenMod or Oxygen)
3. ICS
Currently I'm running a very light stock rom (bloatware heavily removed) + ta kernel v.1.1 + custom apps that I use frequently (daily) + themed. Everything works fine (including call recording by Sanity), it's quite fast (I use SetCPU: 122-600 in general and 245-748 for the launcher and certain slower apps) and it has an excellent battery life. Those other apps that I use rarely (weekly or more) are installed in a second rom (based on cyanogenmod) that i boot from my sdext partition with multirom manager whenever necessary.
Hi All,
I want to flash this phone for my son, so he can play music, videos, youtube and games. I there a light weight ROM that would leave lots of internal memory.
Thanks in advance.

There aren't many "light weight" ROMs available for this device. SlimBean is probably the smallest, though I've never used it so I cannot say for sure. OOne ROM Editor is a Windows tool designed for trimming ICS and JB ROMs prior to installation. With OOne ROM Editor your options increase as far as the number of ROMs you have to choose from. Link for OOne ROM Editor is in my signature.
Try oxygen rom
Sent from my LG-P500 using Tapatalk 2
it all depends what flavor of android you want really.
for JB... slim bean is going to be your best bet.
for ICS... i think oxygen or cerebrum , rashed97 if you trim it down.
for GB... im diggin honeywizz(has TGB engine for gaming and saving battery), but oxygen is the smallest, OMFGB is nice.
If you want lots of internal memory, I'd recommend flashing an int2ext script on whatever rom you choose.

this is the lightest gb rom. I stripped it further nd could get 52 mb zip size. try translating the web page with google translate
it also the smoothest and most stable rom
hi guys,
first off all i want so say that i am a newbie... but i know that there isnt a perfect rom or a best rom, to save me some time i need your advice based on your experience.
a few days ago i rooted my p500, and i tried 3/4 different roms with 4.1.x android but with normal use, battery dont last long, only 10/11h... with official lg rom (android 2.3.3) it last 24h...
so, with your experience , what rom should i try? i dont care about design, only battery life... should i go back to official 2.3.3 android? note that i dont care if i dont have last android version...
another issue is the internal memory, before i rooted p500 i had to delete apps to install another ones. now the phone is rooted, with link2sd app i will have "more" internal memory so any rom is good in this aspect, is this correct?
thank you guys in advance, for sharing your experience
You know that there isnt best rom or perfect rom but still you keep asking....Search forums for good roms just like many others did.
Anyway if you want good battery life then stick with GB based roms.
gingersnap (android 2.3) ia very good and stable and has an option to install everything in the sd card

From all the rom's i have played with the 2 rom's with good battery life are icysnap 1.6 and gingerbreak. Icysnap 2 seems to have lot a lot of battery life. Also for icysnap 1.6 you have to partition the sd card and execute a script to use more of the sd card as internal space.
Unfortunantly i have not yet seen a JB rom that doesn't absolutely burn through battery. I am guessing that the JB os runs a lot more stuff in the background or the processes take a lot more computing power. This is just speculation by me though i know very little about androids other than how to root and flash rom's and even at that i used super one click to root this thing.
I have jb 4.1.2 vrbmb1 i notice my ram always at 1gb even wen i close all apps and lock my fone also my keyboard acts up on stock browser after the update of 4.1.2 so i did a factory reset problem still remains so now im looking to root bt i found vzn is sending out an update shoukd i wait or go tru root

The VRBMB1 had issues with signal loss and other issues, including battery drainage... so Verizon actually pulled that update back and are looking into fixing it.
I would just root it. Once rooted, be sure to back up the stock OTA ROM that you're on just in case you need it later on. Back one up to the SD card and then make another backup onto the external SD card, if you have one, to be safe.
Flash another ROM and get rid of the issues.

Fixed that for ya.
twistedillutions,
1 GB of ram being used is kinda normal for TW. You still have another 1 GB to use so you're fine there. If you want more free ram, use an AOSP rom since they remove all the TW features and give a little more ram. In your case, you could take the VRBMF1 OTA which just came out and see how that works for you. You could always root/unlock that and flash anything like RBarnett09 said.
As he said, I recommend flashing an AOSP ROM without Touchwiz. I flashed LiquidSmooth 2.7 last night and this ROM is super stable. Battery life is great as well.

Hello.
I'm flashing my wife's ChaCha with different ROMs and I was wondering if there is something better than Stock based ROMs.
I value most battery life, second memory space (have the SD card partitioned and using Link2SD right now). Don't need HTC Sense or any other bloatware.
I just need the camera to take pictures, so I can sacrifice the front camera too...
So, what ROM do you guys recommend me to try to have the BEST battery life?
- Stock based (like Hegoxen
- CM7
- SuperOSR 2.5
- CM9
- CM10

I was having problems with the DIALER draining the battery, so yesterday I flashed SuperOSR (CM7.2 based) and so far drainage issues seem to have stoped.
Will post again in a couple of days with the results.
go for ajeevlal port mate, you will never regret it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2365533 Release 3 is the one you must install

I'm using Hexgore's rom, based on stock rom and i'ts the best for daily use, i recommend it for you ...
i think best is stock rom, one programmer can do with theme & new statusbar stock rom its perfect happened
ajeevlal's CM10 is actually great! and it's getting even better!
if ur wife is a Stick-to-Stock person noo never change it u'll never find a better rom
if u want speed, extra storage with INT2EXT+ just DO it and change to CM10 ajeevlal's is a great ROM! and i'm personaly working with him to make it even better
as you know, no front camera, sometimes bluetooth issues, other than that, u've got a wonderful CM10!
Forget
Forget all what you heared and try ajeevel CM10.1 Rom it has everything you can imagine
