I have a question regarding /data/data.
I tried to sum the total file size in that folder using ES File Explorer & I got something interesting.
The total is more than 180GB !!
How come it can be that big?
My Device is GT-N8000 16 GB with 64 GB microSD.
Is there any circular link between the storage ?
Can anyone help me regarding this?
Nevermind...

It's no problem. It's normal. My data/data has over 160GB too... I think that's only mistake in partition info. True is that data/data is mounted to internal memory which one is mounted to internal SD card Try this soft: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobile_infographics_tools.mydrive and you'll see that true is somewhere out there

Hello
I not sure if this is the right place to post this but...
Has anyone else found that Zip Mobile on Windows Mobile v6.1 is using storage space when unziping files and not returning the space once closed?
I have just noticed that there is now 10mb less storage left on my internal memory after unzipping a 58mb file on my memory card to my memory card (I have checked and the data was definatly unzipped to my memory card).
As i am using an Acer M900 storage memory starts at 128mb and any remaining memory is like gold-dust!
I can't understand why this would happen or how to reclame the lost internal storage memory...
Please can anyone help?
Many thanks

Sounds like your phone is creating a duplicate file in a folder to enable you to view a file within a zipped folder. You'll need to find the location of this folder which contains the duplicate file and delete it.
Hi Friends,
I'm new to forum and bought new Galaxy R.
The partition in phone is divided into 3
1. phone memory 1.9 gb
2. USB storage 3.7 gb
3. My SD card 7.4 gb
Now the problem is I have download games and my USB storage is full.
I also I tried copying to SD card and playing it. but didn't work.
Since, This is my new phone I don't wanna root at early level since the company warranty is void if it is rooted as I have heard from friends.
I need help to copy into SD card and play without rooting
or atleast my game recognise the path of sd card where i have transferred.
I have seen previous post and tried many soft like apps2sd, etc.. nothing worked.
any alt solutions to copy in SD and play without rooting...
Thanks in advance..
Also when I try to transfer the files to SD Card using manager or other soft's but failed.
For example: Like I tried moving Gameloft Real football 2012 to SD Card. It only copies some 10 or 12 mb file which we download from market not the full files which we download later (i.e approx 400 mb)..

I used GL to SD which can move huge data that we downloaded later into SD card.
but to me it is a bit confusing.. and sometimes i got 2 identical data both in my SD card and USB Storage.. im not sure if GL to SD support backup if you change your phone..

GL TO SD requires root. As given in the instructions, and i and the original poster doesn't want root.
Any other feasible option?

Thanks bro.. It is pretty hard to get this stuff solved..
Also, I tried the application for Mount.. even these app needs rooting.. God knows what to do...
Hi Friends,
I found some important stuff regarding the USB Storage & SD card..
This is for "Non-rooted" mobile phones.
I installed ES file explorer & X-plore and also few other apps.. This is to check how arrangement of file system are in the phone.
Now what i absorbed is, In the display of phone memory it shows 1.9gb and for SD Card memory it shows 4.9gb which is USB storage not the one which I have installed 8gb SD Card.
So its like this..
" /mnt/sdcard " This is for USB 4gb space (Non extendable)
" /mnt/sdcard/external_sd/ " This is for my 8gb sd card (Extendable)
Hence, when ever any App wants to download additional data it goes to USB Storage (I.e /mnt/sdcard ) not to SD 8gb expandable storage card.
I want to configure or use the command to make the application to choose default location as " /mnt/sdcard/external_sd/ " to save in my extendable memory card without rooting.
IS THIS POSSIBLE... Please do let me know from the experts...
THANK YOU..
From what i have seen , u need a shadow copy or u need to bind the folders in some way, which requires root... I see no other way...

The other day I tried to copy/move some photos from one of my SD cards I had in a camera to my Infinity. I've got the card in the slot and it's being read just fine by Root Explorer. I created a folder on internal storage on my TF700 under Pictures. It shows I have about 22GB free with about 4GB used.
I copied about 10 photos first, each about 4mb in size. I then try another 10. The fist 10 copied/moved just fine. When the second 10 started, I get a message saying I'm out of internal storage space.
I tried three different file managers and I get the same thing. The first 10 copy fine but the second 10 don't get copied cause I'm getting an out of space error.
Anyone know why this is happening? I have a 32GB TF700 all stock, not rooted.

I don't usually run terminal emulators but I tired the above just to see if I could get any different results. TE via df says /mnt/sdcard/ Size: 27GB, Used: 4 GB; Free: 22 GB
I'm assuming my /mnt/sdcard/ refers to my internal Infinity storage. The files I'm coping over are less than 400MB.
Any reason why 400MB can't fit into 22GB?

What file system is your SD card formatted in?
If you have a card reader, plug it into your computer to find out.
Your camera may be using a different file system than your tablet supports.
I believe FAT32 is the most reliable.
WiFi explorer tells me that my internal 64GB is only 22GB as well. Havent tried getting it that full yet to see if it balks on copying more files.
hey guys,
i have not found anything about my problem here or on google, so im asking and hope its not coverd anywhere else.
i read about changing the default location for camera/fotos and how to get apps to sd. but i want to set the sd card to default for anything. for downloads/music/pics/app related files.
i have 16 gb of internal storage and it fills up with all my music from doubletwist that i sync over airsync. maybe there is a way to get that done for the music alone. that would already help me. but a better solution was to get sd as default for anything.
when i think about my htc, i have all apps on the internal, thats ok. and all other files are atomatically saved to de sd card. i want it like that on my note 10.1
is there any possibility to get that done?
thx in advance guys
go to android development section find 64gb internal storage by zedomax hope this helps i followed this method and now i have 64gb iternal memory

hey thx so much. i will give it a try in the next days.
but i noticed something else. when i look at my files from es file explorer, they all seem to be on my sd, but my settings app says they are on the internal storage, but maybe the script will fix that.
Your internal card is the sd as far as es is concerned. Youneed to either hit the star icon in the left corner to go to extsdcard or go to mnt>extsdcard to get to your external sd card...
Ah now I get it... Thing is: it was different on all my other devices... Thx again guys. It was a huge help

I have both a GT-N7000 and a GT-N8020 with almost identical apps and data loaded.
In fact, I store all my music, photos and documents on the external SD cards in both cases.
Can anyone tell me why a Nandroid backup on a Gt-N7000 is about 17MB and one of a GT-N8020 is over 2GB?
Where does all the extra data come from? Both devices are "16GB".
As far as I can tell, the Nandroid backup isn't including the ext SD card as I always get the message, "No ext SD card detected, no backup of ext SD card ..." or something to that effect. Just wondering.
Browse into the backups using any root explorers and tell me what's inside

I had the same problem with my External card. It was because it was formatted as exFat.
Formatting it as Fat32 solved it. Unfrotunately it seems that CWM doesn't recognize exFat cards.
Many thanks for the reply. This is puzzling because, if I interpret the Rom Manager message I'm getting, it's not backing up the ext SD card - only the phone and installed apps and a few other things.
I just did another Nandroid backup with the ext SD card removed and the backup size was exactly the same 2.0GB

I just copied them all out in a reply to you but it doesn't seem to have been posted for some reason.
Here goes again. Obviously, it's the first three that account for most of the space. This result is the same with the ext SD card removed so I assume this is playing no part.

Actually, AFAIK, nandroid backup is normally used to back up all that's on your internal card (including app's data) and the resulting files total to a big storage size (well... it depends on what apps have been installed). So I'm not sure I've interpreted right your situation.
In any case (how to format the ext SD car as Fat32?) here's a possible answer.
If you have a card reader connected to your PC you can skip the SGS3 Easy UMS part.
That's my understanding too.
My GT-N8020 (Galaxy Note 10.1) is just a big duplicate of the GT-N7000 with all the same apps installed so I don't see how a Nandroid backup grows from 16.6MB on the small device to 2.0GB on the big one. This is with the ext SD card removed so this is playing no role in this.

Basically a nandroid back should be atleast 100 mb sunce this much data consists of the rom.the rest data depends on the no. Of installed app and data in ext partition. Here i see that your system backup.tar is like an elephant. You are using TWRP or clockworkmode recovery??

CWM 6.0.3.1 that comes with PhilZ Touch 4.
The apps are all the same on both devices but I guess the ROM is so much bigger. The ROM is stock XXMBA7 .
