Hello
I not sure if this is the right place to post this but...
Has anyone else found that Zip Mobile on Windows Mobile v6.1 is using storage space when unziping files and not returning the space once closed?
I have just noticed that there is now 10mb less storage left on my internal memory after unzipping a 58mb file on my memory card to my memory card (I have checked and the data was definatly unzipped to my memory card).
As i am using an Acer M900 storage memory starts at 128mb and any remaining memory is like gold-dust!
I can't understand why this would happen or how to reclame the lost internal storage memory...
Please can anyone help?
Many thanks
Machepablo

Sounds like your phone is creating a duplicate file in a folder to enable you to view a file within a zipped folder. You'll need to find the location of this folder which contains the duplicate file and delete it.

Hey. I'm really new to this forum.. and please excuse me if i'm being ignorant at any time. Just bought a new XDAii Mini and realised that the memory is very less which makes the phone work very slow at time specially if multiple programs are running. So since the memory is only around 60mb or so... can't we utilize the space from our storage memory to work as memory ... basically.. can't the phone use storage memory to work faster... pls advice.
tried searching this forum for answers.. but i gave up.. any help would be appriciated. thanks.
if you've already installed programs i advise a soft reset.
-optionally install the big rom hack to get an extra 20mb of "storage" memory.
-then find a program called cabinstl to re-install all your programs to storage card.
-optionally use a program called memmaid to relocate various large dlls (support files) to storage or storage card.

After vijay advise, read this thread and I gurantee U could get at least 35mb free memory space on startup

using MM to move the dll files to storage card, how much memory will that get you and also if hard reset, the dll will be back to main memory, correct?. Thanks :lol:

Hello Guys.
Maybe someone of you can give me a helpful hint.
I´m running a Magician device, but i think it´s not important which device is used. With the device I´m using a sandisk Wifi card with 256 MB Storage integrated.
The last days i tried to download a file with approx. 30 MB. SD-Card with Wifi was complete clean, but the Memory of the device just have about 24 MB free. For downloading I used the integrated IE in the WM2003SE. The download should be saved on the storage card, but the download failed because of not having enough free space. So I think the device first downloads the file as temporay file on the System memory and then copies it ro the SD card.
So, how can I change this to be able to download files directly to the SD card?
Stefan

This is the question that some guy asked back in 2006. bun none answered. I have the same problem this days with my HD2 on win 6.5 with 8GB SD card,but only 46MB free integrated memory. I was try to download 80MB file from internet, but it was impossible because both opera and IE making temp file in main memory, and after successful download it was been removed to SD card and cleared from main memory. How to avoid making that temp file and allow download some file bigger then the free main memory? Can anyone help?
Hi there,
I saw from my local forum here a Samsung Galaxy W thread.. which a custom ROM
with swap internal/external storage..
then I saw he posted in this XDA Forum
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=21317510#post21317510
can any dev can reverse/swap our internal/external storage so that /sdcard/external_sd into /sdcard (our MicroSD Card)
primary storage is the MicroSD and internal storage becoming the secondary i.e /ext_sd
thanks in advance!!
I'm guessing the less than 8gb internal memory is too small for you.
I'v been using a mod like this for my previous phone (i9003 Galaxy SL) and works fine. It had 4gb internal memory and about 1.5gb usable for user.
I9003-MOD-Swap your internal SDCARD memory (for froyo-2.2.1)with the External_SD
MOD-Swap external-internal SD Gingerbread Version
You have to edit the: /system/etc/vold.fstab file.
you will have to find the entries: "# internal sdcard" & "# external sdcard"
swap the code inside the {} sign and your good to go.
I can't test this as i don't have an i9103 myself.
Before you edit the file, make sure you make a nandroid backup. Also, make a backup of the original void.fstab file so u can revert the changes .
If u don't want to edit the file, attach your vold.fstab file on this thread and I'll take a crack at it.
```
backup original file and try this. View attachment vold.zip many users said, that this is work. And ~5% of tried have a brick. it is for you own risk.
I didn't try and I will not do this because there is no reasons to change "internal" and "external". If you playing Gameloft games, search "gl to sd" on Market - it will fully remove game data to external_sd.
ok thanks for the reply.
yes i'm also using gl to sd too.. but i dont understand
USB Storage got 1.2gb free
device memory 1.55gb free..
microSD Card 2.5gb free
but when running Dungeon Hunter 2 via GL to SD.. it says not enough space..pls free up 5mb to download.. etc etc..
I mount/unmount still the same.
8gb internal (3.75gb free) is small for me bcoz PAPAGO X5 can only be run from USB Storage (/sdcard) and it consume around 900mb. plus some Gameloft games data..
it eat up my internal USB Storage.
I didn't know that app, thanks i'm sure could be very usefull for some friends.
Hi guys,
I am using HTC Desire 816 handset which contains 8 gb of internal memory.
In that 8gb i can use only 3.9gb for storing app related files and other stuffs,remaining space occupied by OS.
Currently i am facing memory not available issue while downloading through internet or installing new apps.
so i checked the space available in internal memory using ESS file explorer and
found 400mb space free and 3.5gb space used.
But i dont have that much files in my internal memory.
So i selected all the files in the "emulated" folder ("0" & "Legacy") and checked the properties which shows total
size is 1.8gb.
Here my confusion is both the files are of size 1.8gb.But i select both the fiels and check the whole space it is showing 1.8gb only.
So where is the remaining space,which file occupying that space,can i delete that files.
please help me.
