Hey guys.
On my i9020a I was running a stock ROM, came home to root and flash my favorite oxygen before I headed out to the bar and ran into a small problem.
I unlocked the bootloader, pushed the superuser.zip using cmd now in my directions from nexusshacks.com it says to reboot the phone then go about flashing custom ROMS etc.
Well being in a rush, I flashed the superuser.zip then went ahead and preloaded my ROM of choice, wiped everything like you normally would on a clean install and the phone wont take any files im trying to flash.
so I'm stuck in recovery and bootloader and I guess I need to push a file using cmd?
When trying to flash Oxygen this is the message I get:
NOTE: this was after I tried to rename it "update.zip" and I still receive the same error**

Installation aborted.
That happened to me, I just had the wrong clockworkmod installed that's why i kept getting that error. I had the nexus s 4g version, and then I switched and it worked!

THANK YOU for the hint, flashed another version of clockwork, booted back up and running normal!

Im trying to flash the superlite rom by vincom but every time i try to flash it throws out an error.

It says the flash is successful but the phone doesn't boot after flash. I have checked the md5 of the ROM, wiped everything, basically followed all the instruction in vincoms post to the letter but no dice. I'm on rogers.
Error 7 is assert protection it's seeing your phone model is different from the phone model in the updater script of the rom meaning either A. Turn off assert checks or B. Do you own a skyrocket and not a 989?

How do I go about turning off assert checks? My phone model is SGH-I727R so yes, skyrocket
Also, could the problem be that I am using twrp 2.1.2? Im not sure how to flash 2.2.0 onto my system, google searches are unreliable and installing via goomanager does not work for me

I have never used TWRP but you should be able to flash the newer version in recovery just as you would to update CWM.

Twrp isn't the issue do a little digging son learn your recovery it's not real hard

Just so happened I soft bricked my phone, after resetting everything (and installing twrp 2.2.0) the flash worked! Thanks for your time and help, hope you dont hate me for being a noob! Thanks to vincom for the great ROM!

I have no issue with noobs it's stupid noobs that bother me I will say a quick Google search of the error would have given you an idea of where to start searching is your friend heads up

-I also redownloaded the rom file to make sure that it wasn't a corrupted download.

Please help, I'm not sure what to try right now.

Yes, I wiped data and cache. I also tried installation with signature verification disabled and script asserts disabled, but received the same error.

I tried flashing the amonra recovery multiple times, but my phone just boots into a black screen. I've checked, however, and my phone doesn't have a hitachi screen which could be causing that. I'm going to try a IHO recovery with custom kernel.

I tried flashing both IcySnap and hephappy's genetICS ROMs on the IHO recovery and I keep getting status 7 error.

Exactly thats the problem, above he is refering to a optimus v recovery, so the thing is that the recovery only allows to flash roms for the phone it recognizes, so my guess is he wiil be able to flash an optimus V rom...
That's the same thing that happened with a custom recovery for my thrive, in only allowed to install roms for the lg thrive, but then when i changed the recovery for standard for optimus one,, i was able to flash roms

I am not sure what went wrong but I am stuck on boot loop. After rooting the device I tried installing viperx and then followed exactly what was on the forum for the installation. But now it's stuck. Tried erasing cache, rebooting and installing a different rom (CM 10) not helping... Now even the recovery is not working
Somebody help please

Boot to boot loader. Flash latest twrp with fast boot. Boot to recovery. Flash viper.

Thanks for the quick reply... modified the post a little on secind post.. flashed twrp.. that is now working.. tried flashing viper.. but it gives an error messageand reboots...

What error message? Could be a bad DL did you check the checksum? Did you wipe cache dalvik system factory reset and wipe within ROM installer?

Thanks just to get it clear.
After downloading the ROM. I copy it to my phone using the recovery. Then I install the ROM. Selecting no for custom kernel. Then after this is done flash boot.img to the phone via bootloader. And this should get my phone running on ViperXL.
Am I correct?

From what I understand viperxl flashes the boot.img for you (I could be wrong) so you don't have to but if it boot loops then you can flash the boot.img

Managed to install the ROM!! But now it's stuck on the viperxl screen for the past 6-7 minutes...Once it showed up the options for selecting a language but after that it it again got stuck on the viperxl screen... Is this normal? Should I restart or something?

The dalvik cache wipe gave an error.. Could that be an issue? I tried rebooting it still gets stuck on the viperxl screen everytime...

Did you check checksum when you downloaded to make sure there was no corruption?
If so, try wiping cache, dalvik, system, factory reset and reflash the rom.
Make sure to wipe within ROM installer too.

It didn't go through the first time.. I flashed the rom again after wiping everything.. got it working !! I didn't choose HTC sense last time I guess that was the problem...
Anyways Thanks a lot for your help... Couldn't have done anything without you, was **** scared.. Thanks a lot...

Been looking to try a new recovery, thanks.
Edit: Quick question, is it okay to flash this using recovery tools? I would assume so, but the instructions make no mention of it. Am I just better off flashing it in TWRP or CWM recovery?
I only wish I would have tried this this sooner...my volume keys would have appreciated it.

You only flash the zip in recovery using either TWRP or CWM. Flash it, then reboot recovery.
If you are using the .tar.md5 file, flash that in odin and it'll overwrite the recovery image.
Please help, just flashed it using Flashify and the phone only boots in Odin mode. Is there a way to phuse a recovery file and install it?

Edit: didn't even have to use Odin, I just booted into safe mode and it fixed it.

Anyone know why this comes up every time I boot in to recovery?

Just did it now seems to have gone away when I switched kernels may have been ktoonsez kernel

I had that problem and I used rom manager to flash cwm multiple times, then when I flashed this it went away.
I'm on the latest ktoons

Dude, this Recovery is sooo friggin' killer!! Albeit a tad overwhelming with all the bells & whistles & whatnot, still so rad!!
I've always dug CWM over TWRP, even though most were ragin' about how cool TWRP is!?!? I've used both of 'em here & there, but I've just always had dependable results with CWM.

I am having an issue flashing pacman nightly. No matter what version I try and flash, latest or one from 4 months ago that I know is a good download, I get a failed to install.

Ask cooker to update his update-binary or do it your self by replacing the one in the ROM you install

It's a known issue, many people are going to have the problem.
Pull the update-binary from another rom, or anything that does flash with the recovery, and replace the one in the rom of your choice with that one.
This has nothing to do with the recovery itself, and Phil can't do anything about it on his end. Rom builders have to update the script for it to work on this CWM base.
I know mastamoon has an unofficial cwm 6.0.4.5 recovery for use, I'm sure his kit kat rom likely has a working update-binary, try to flash that rom with this recovery. If it works, there's your answer.
