First of I'm in the UK and LG out of warranty have refused to help since I've opened my phone up and Marc with party's etc, the issue is I dropped my phone in water then I used a reviveaphone kit to attempt to save it and so after it had dried out I put it on charge but the phone wouldn't charge or connect to USB so I bought a new battery and replaced the USB port flex and the phone comes on, I could make and receive calls and connect to WiFi etc, the phone still had moisture behind the screen but it was functioning within normal parameters. The battery is now dead and the phone still won't charge or connect to USB, I took it to a phone shop who advised me that the charging IC on the board is dead and they can't do anything about it. So basically I need a new 32gb mainboard but don't know where to find one and LG OOWR won't help at all.

Buy one on eBay they should have them

Probably all your other components will die soon, once you change the board.
Advice - don't waste your money. Buy a new phone

The other day I dropped my NS from about 2 feet while it was charging. Unfortunately the fall did more than scare me, and now my usb port is a bit screwed. To make the device recognise the connection (either charging or data) I have to push on the usb cable close to where it enters the phone. To be specific, an upwards force is required if the phone is lying on its back. To charge it I rest the cable on a book and put some weight on the screen to apply the required force.. It's definitely not ideal.
Does anyone have any ideas for me to try to fix it?

You would have to order the charging port and take apart the phone to install it.

You should be able to find a video that details the dissasembly. Good luck!
Hi all guys. when replacing a display for htc one x I happened to break a cable. has been damaged.
The cable in question is called: dock cable.
Can anyone tell me if it only serves to power the phone from the dock station, or is it essential for the operation?
Here Link
I can confirm it does NOT affect the screen/touch functionality. Not sure about wireless connectivity as I haven't tested it.
Most likely you'll only lose docking if you leave it disconnected.

I ripped the same cable nearly in 2 last night. After a bit of diy I got it back in place and together.
Even if my repair wasn't successful my phone is working correctly

I believe it all started when i tried to recharge my nexus 5 via my computer. It emitted a burning smell when i plug it in. Then i quickly removed it and the micro USB port was all melted and black. I RMAed that nexus 5 and got another one since it was still under warranty. However, my computer/motherboard seized to recognize any storage device via USB 2.0/3.0. It wont even pick up the newly replaced nexus 5, but will charge as normal. Will google help me reimbursed my motherboard as well?

I had the same thing happen on my old htc windows phone. That one had a removable battery i could pull out and charge. I'm pretty sure there's a tiny in line fuse on the usb port that has blown. If you're into micro soldering you could try replacing it. Otherwise the only option is pulling it apart and replacing the board with the usb port on it (most likely the motherboard). These tend to cost almost as much as a new phone, so unless you can get a second hand one from someone with a busted screen (or similar) i reckon you're out of luck.
Ps - there's no guarantee that some components on the board aren't damaged beyond the fuse, so motherboard replacement would be the best option.

Hello
Yesterday i was repairing my car charger and I touched red cable with green. Nexus immediately turned off. Since then i can't charge my phone. Probably the charging module is burned. I read a lot of articles about opening and swapping parts, but I can't find anywhere information about where, on which part is this charging module. Maybe on motherboard, maybe on plate stick to motherboard, or maybe on the "tape" where also is the micro usb port. Please help, because i don't know what should i swap :-/
Look for le55ons Nexus 5 disassembly tutorial on YouTube. He makes fantastic close up videos of taking the Nexus 5 apart.
Why would you repair something plugged in and powered up?

oh, it's a long stupid story i know. It's only my fault... Thanks @dkconor I watched le55ons. He answered my question. Now I must buy new motherboard :/ but it must be from european version, because in USA there is diffrent 4G frequency...
Surely you'll find one with a smashed screen to salvage from on eBay?

I can order new motherboard, but I think it will be cheaper to buy crushed nexus. Am I wrong?
I found Nexus 5 which is water damaged, do U think motherboard is good?
