If YOU are noticing degraded battery life after kitkat update, post here! - T-Mobile LG G2

Are you noticing worse battery life after doing the kitkat update? I am, and I want to know if you are too.
Post in here, take the poll, and lets figure out how to track down what is going on.
Requirements: Try to post a screenshot of your battery stats, wakelocks (if possible) and how many hours you were getting before on a charge.
Here's my input:

I will get some screens soon and try to track it down but I have been noticing that on days I use my Bluetooth after I turn it off. See a drastic.decrease in battery and my phone gets hot. I was have seen others say there was a Bluetooth wakelock as well and it's very random when it happens

I'm down from 1.5 day to hardly 10 hours on a single charge

That's basically what I'm seeing, maybe 12 hours if I'm lucky. Granted I am using my phone a lot lately since I just got it but still... My s2 t989 with same usage was lasting far longer.

My two main reasons for me rooting are ad blocking and greenify. I just learned that greenify added support for non-root users. I have greenified every app I don't use on a regular basis and am noticing significant difference in battery. The only thing is that after you use a greenified app you have to re-greenify manually.

Greenify and tasker work great, I had tasker auto hibernate all greenified apps upon screen on. Its basically the closest you can get to automation without rooting.
Greenify has saved my battery issues.

More often than not, a factory reset will take care of battery issues after a major OS upgrade. I'm not sure if it's left-over system files or something about the "upgrading" of existing apps during the process, but I've had to do it with both my Galaxy S3 and Nexus 7 2012. Not every upgrade, mind you, but with one or two.

I do notice my system battery monitor jumping around all crazy, this is after a factory reset.

My wife's battery life has become so bad since the update, that I'm on this site trying to figure out how to downgrade her phone right now. (My N5/CM11 sometimes lasts longer than her G2 now)

Curious how everyone is now doing on the 20e update?
Sent from my LG-D801

Bout the same for me. Only thing I notice is that before my wifi was always running in background according to bbs, no matter what I did to change settings. Not anymore after update.

First cycle on the update I lost 35% or so in a couple hours with little use. I checked battery use and Instagram was the primary hog. Uninstalled and reinstalled the app and getting awesome battery life comparable or better than before the update. Not sure why instagram went crazy but works fine now
Sent from my Touchpad using XDA Free mobile app

The update fixed a serious wakelock issue caused by wifi calling for me. A lot of wakelocks seem to have disappeared with the update for me.
Nothing leaps and bounds, but notice a bit of an improvement for sure.

Verizon SIII 32GB Blue Brief Review Video

Guys earlier I posted an unboxing video in another thread. That video is right here.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BryoOlaWQaU&feature=plcp
Then I spent the next 4 or 5 hours trying to get the freaking thing activated. That finally happened, but I haven't had much time with the phone. Anyways, here's a quick video showing the boot up, and some speed tests on 4G LTE. This phone is beast! (it may be sideways for a bit but I've rotated it to the right in Youtube, sometimes it just takes a while)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wovT50uGfLw&feature=plcp
Feel free to ask questions, I can try to post more videos over the next couple days but my schedule is literally booked for the next 2 days so I'll do what I can.
Good job

It's looking like the Verizon version is going to have sweet sweet battery life!
The phone starts at about 50% and I still have stellar life out of that! I had rebooted it and connected it via usb to try and get adb shell. Otherwise it would show nearly 20hrs of battery at this point!

Have they fixed that 34ma battery drain issue yet? Officially? I'm a nexus dude but seriously considering returning it and getting in on one of these s3's. Just switched to Verizon and I love, love, love the network. Haven't been with vzw since '07.
I'd also like to know if there is still the bleeding/weeping/leakage of the back lights on the white version? Like there was on the white galaxy s 2.
Thanks.

I'm not aware of this battery drain issue you speak of. If it exists on my phone, I can obviously obviously with it. The cell standby numbers are way too high, especially considering I was on full LTE coverage all night. My epic4g had a similar issue and it was fixed via software fairly quickly.
Mine is blue so I can't comment on your other question. Yes, the Verizon network is AWESOME!

"The cell standby" that is the Battery drain issue he is referencing, it is not really a "real" drain issue, more a reporting issue.
Even with the drain issue that battery life is awesome. Thank you for posting your initial thoughts and battery stats.
After I get fully charged up again today I will leave it off any charge and post the full drain stats.

[Q] battery life - Do I have a lemon?

Ok, Ive had my one x for two weeks and its a fantastic phone with absolutely pathetic battery life. So far the battery life is always inferior to my old Atrix (first one).
On a few occasions its been so bad I don't even think its possible that this phone isnt broken. I'm still locked bootloader, no hacked apps, customizations, anything. Stock and a few apps like dropbox and zynga games.
Today was especially pathetic. "Voice calls" was exactly one phone call under 10 minutes long.

Is it this bad for everyone?
That's pretty bad. Looks like you didn't even have the screen on all that much, either.
I'm assuming you're on 1.85? Have you tried a reset?
For comparison, and others' feedback, here's a recent snap of my stats. I'm not too confident my battery is up to snuff either.

Thanks for the reference. Whats your battery life like under very light usage? I think i played scramble with friends twice, and had a 10 minute phone call. Maybe a quick web page or two. On 1.85
I have at&t HTC one x also my battery life is ok I read somewhere that one x phones with the serial number ht24.... And ht23.... May have battery and WiFi issues my phone is a ht24..... Serial number but mine seems to be fine so far I had it for only 3 weeks. But here's some screen shots of my power usages and one is where my brightness setting is at.

Where did you read that HT24s had issues? Mine is an HT24 and it has rock solid wifi and ridiculously good battery life.
@OP- Do a factory reset and and don't install anything and run it for a day or two and see what kind of battery life you get. The important thing to look at is screen on time. If you get from 3-6 hrs screen on time (depending on cell signal, wifi, other factors) than your phone is fine.
I read it on this forum about a week ago someone posted the email conversation they had with HTC but mine is ht24 and it works fine my girlfriend just bought one yesterday and hers is the 25 so I'll be able to see if there is a difference I have noticed one thing about my WiFi it will attempt to connect to secured WiFi signals that I dont have the password to it'll say obtaining ip the say signal lost and keep repeating it till I turn it off

Why is my battery dying so fast?

It seems like my battery is draining very quickly. Android is the highest on my battery list. I don't have anything weird installed or syncing and my screen is set to 50% brightness. Any ideas?

If you have root access you can install Better Battery Stats (Free here: http://goo.gl/EjdB8) and choose partial wakelocks since unplugged. That will tell you what's keeping your phone from deep sleep.
Nothing is standing out in partial wake locks. Every bar is pretty much empty. And that app isn't free anymore according to that post.

Maybe it's not bad. I'm not one to complain about the battery life, but it just seemed like it was tanking fast. Like percentage points per minute.

Op, are you rooted? I noticed my battery goes a little quicker since I rooted and flashed cm10. I also noticed you are on 3g, did you disable 4g, is 4G available in your area? Maybe the phone constantly searching for 4G is draining. Not sure how that would show up in battery usage stats though.

Yes I am rooted. I noticed the battery draining faster after I flashed Google Wallet. I am stock rooted though. I turn off NFC when I don't need it, and the app doesn't sync often.
I'm not in a 4G area, but that has never drained my battery before. I can't imagine Wallet would be draining my battery..
I should also note that my brightness is set to full at all times. What's of interest to me is the fact that it isn't draining so much when the screen is on, it's when the screen is off is when it drains the most it seems. I'll leave the phone off for at least 20 minutes and when I turn it back on it'll have lost a few points.
Can't seem to figure it out. Like I said, it seems like I started noticing the battery draining quicker after I installed Google Wallet.

Spare Parts any use?

So I charged my phone last night, went to bed at 99% n woke up to it at like 76%. Sync was turned off as usual, so no idea what would cause it to wake constantly like that. I remember using spare parts on my OG there was a option to see what apps were causing wake. I'm still stock right now, not even rooted. What's the consensus for background processes in settings-> development? Standard limit or limit to 1 or 2 processes? Any help is greatly appreciated.
Little side note, what's the preference on using the power saving option?

I do not use power save and my phone will only lose about 8-10 percent at most. I'm all stock as well so I can't tell you why..... but if you are setting your phone in an area at night that gives you low signal it will eat your battery fast.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
yeah signal strength and background data can hurt battery a lot, even when sync is turned off a lot of apps will still update automatically, for example weather, news, and the like. The easiest way to check that is to disable mobile data next time you leave it overnight, if it still has high drain then you have an app putting it in a wake lock which you have to use another app to find the culprit.

I stay connected to WiFi the entire time that I'm at home. Probably the only times I use it. Then I'll turn it off walking to my car. That's one of the reasons I use it, so I know I have a steady signal and not connected to data so that a fluctuating signal would cause overnight battery drain.

Dang it. Tried installing spare parts n when I try to open battery information to get to that 1 option where u can tell what.app has been waking your device, it just hangs and then crashes. Just so you know even with mobile data turned off your phone is still connected to the network for phone calls. So if you are in a bad signal area it can still cause serious battery drain.

i can also say the edge screen isn't giving that multi touch palm issue any more. Im glad to see that fixed as well.
I'm afraid to do the update since they say it cannot be rolled back
if you are looking for any root in the future i would suggest holding back from updates
I updated and so far cpuspy says deep sleep instantly as soon as screen is off and dont see any wakelocks so far. I disabled junk and uninstalled stuff I dont need and removed notifications for any games(I just check my games and weather manually). So far no android system drain at all in 15m on battery. I updated 30min ago then fast charged.

Battery has been good since updating this morning. I normally get 9 SOT. I'm down to 83 percent and already have 2 hours SOT. Can't wait to see how this pans out in a few days!
Has anyone checked if this update unlocked the bootloader?
That first update knocked out 2.4ghz wireless reliability, I wonder if this will fix it! *fingers crossed*
My battery and camera have been great! I haven't had a low-light picture that was amazing yet, but that's not their fault!

Screen sensitivity fixed here as well. It so much easier typing now. Also my palm resting on the edge no longer makes the screen go unresponsive.

I'm in the same boat. All these reports of improved battery life and smoothness/camera/touch screen makes it harder to wait. I figure if you're content with the battery life then just wait it out. I hope potential root would yield better results than any update [emoji41]
