Ok, Ive had my one x for two weeks and its a fantastic phone with absolutely pathetic battery life. So far the battery life is always inferior to my old Atrix (first one).
On a few occasions its been so bad I don't even think its possible that this phone isnt broken. I'm still locked bootloader, no hacked apps, customizations, anything. Stock and a few apps like dropbox and zynga games.
Today was especially pathetic. "Voice calls" was exactly one phone call under 10 minutes long.

Is it this bad for everyone?
That's pretty bad. Looks like you didn't even have the screen on all that much, either.
I'm assuming you're on 1.85? Have you tried a reset?
For comparison, and others' feedback, here's a recent snap of my stats. I'm not too confident my battery is up to snuff either.

Thanks for the reference. Whats your battery life like under very light usage? I think i played scramble with friends twice, and had a 10 minute phone call. Maybe a quick web page or two. On 1.85
I have at&t HTC one x also my battery life is ok I read somewhere that one x phones with the serial number ht24.... And ht23.... May have battery and WiFi issues my phone is a ht24..... Serial number but mine seems to be fine so far I had it for only 3 weeks. But here's some screen shots of my power usages and one is where my brightness setting is at.

Where did you read that HT24s had issues? Mine is an HT24 and it has rock solid wifi and ridiculously good battery life.
@OP- Do a factory reset and and don't install anything and run it for a day or two and see what kind of battery life you get. The important thing to look at is screen on time. If you get from 3-6 hrs screen on time (depending on cell signal, wifi, other factors) than your phone is fine.
I read it on this forum about a week ago someone posted the email conversation they had with HTC but mine is ht24 and it works fine my girlfriend just bought one yesterday and hers is the 25 so I'll be able to see if there is a difference I have noticed one thing about my WiFi it will attempt to connect to secured WiFi signals that I dont have the password to it'll say obtaining ip the say signal lost and keep repeating it till I turn it off

Its gone, todays radio made the phone even worse for me, always had a crap signal to begin with but it got almost unusable after the update, i was gonna get a charge but......the store said they have moved back the date to a TBA again, he also said they bionic has been cancelled, i was left with no option but to go back with the iphone, i almost went with a galaxy S, but ive had one of those upto getting my TB and didnt really wanna go back to something i had already had..
To sum it up, the TB is a great device that lacks the testing it required, it seems to have been rushed out with horrific battery life even with custom roms its still crap for heavy users, and poor signal..
Ill buy one again if they get there crap together and fix the obvious faults, but until Verizon releases a good dual core android im gonna have to stick with what i know.
Cool story, bro.
cool story bro, tell me again with subtitles.
I don't notice any change after the update

Yikess......not sure where you live, but I get fantastic 4 g everywhere in Chicago, have had 2-3 random reboots since I bought on day 1 (which could be less that the reboots on my Dinc), and get reasonable battery life, best phone I have yet to own.
Not to crap on your post , but I took my ip4 back because of bad service. My TB will hold service where the ip4 wouldn't. I will take service over battery anyday.

Yeah and at least you can change the battery when it dies.. You can't even do that with the iPhone, what a great "feature". Two batteries and a stand alone charger only cost $10 on eBay. Besides I get over a day of battery anyways. I think the real problem existed between the phone and the ground...
I've loved my TB since day 1 and have no problems with it other than a slow to find me GPS. I love this phone and would have to agree that the problems for many seems to be between the phone and the ground. Rooted with DasBAMF 1.6.3 FTW!

Hi! I'm using two batteries for my sensation.
But i have a problem I'm bothered with. Every time I switch battery the phone resets itself to 2 January 1970 @ 01:00 am.
My current rom is hypernonsense with bricked kernel.
Is there a way to fix the time reseting every time I switch battery?

lol yeah seriouly though
when you shut it down do you do it "gracefully" (meaning do you turn it off just before it dies and then do the switch?)
have you tried a complete wipe with and installed stock, and does it still show the same symptoms?
if it still does with the stock rom, it mean that you might have a faulty board
Yes, I always turn it off before switching. Will see how other roms can handle it tomorrow when I have time to test

I can't really help you solve your issue, but in case anyone is curious as to why it sets back to the seemingly random date of January 1970, you can read about Unix time (also known as Epoch time) here on Wikipedia:

Guys earlier I posted an unboxing video in another thread. That video is right here.

Then I spent the next 4 or 5 hours trying to get the freaking thing activated. That finally happened, but I haven't had much time with the phone. Anyways, here's a quick video showing the boot up, and some speed tests on 4G LTE. This phone is beast! (it may be sideways for a bit but I've rotated it to the right in Youtube, sometimes it just takes a while)

It's looking like the Verizon version is going to have sweet sweet battery life!
The phone starts at about 50% and I still have stellar life out of that! I had rebooted it and connected it via usb to try and get adb shell. Otherwise it would show nearly 20hrs of battery at this point!

Have they fixed that 34ma battery drain issue yet? Officially? I'm a nexus dude but seriously considering returning it and getting in on one of these s3's. Just switched to Verizon and I love, love, love the network. Haven't been with vzw since '07.
I'd also like to know if there is still the bleeding/weeping/leakage of the back lights on the white version? Like there was on the white galaxy s 2.
Thanks.

I'm not aware of this battery drain issue you speak of. If it exists on my phone, I can obviously obviously with it. The cell standby numbers are way too high, especially considering I was on full LTE coverage all night. My epic4g had a similar issue and it was fixed via software fairly quickly.
Mine is blue so I can't comment on your other question. Yes, the Verizon network is AWESOME!

"The cell standby" that is the Battery drain issue he is referencing, it is not really a "real" drain issue, more a reporting issue.
Even with the drain issue that battery life is awesome. Thank you for posting your initial thoughts and battery stats.

Hi, so ever since ICS, or at least SCv7 (not sure if it did it stock, I switched right away), my screen has bee completely killing my battery
I still get perfectly fine life with the screen off, but it just drops right down with it on even not doing anything to heavy. Definitely a problem not normal.
Anyone have any ideas? Is this happening to anyone else?
P.S. Thanks for the new Q and A section by the way.

What are your screen settings at (levels, auto on/off, etc)? Screen is by far the biggest drain on battery. Check my Battery Guide, last Page for an app mentioned to lower brightness more than the stock settings will allow for- maybe that would help in certain instances. I haven't tried it myself, but will be doing so over the weekend, and if beneficial I will update the OP with it.
My SGS3 is the same as my A2 being that the screen gobbled up battery like crazy. So, I suppose you're not alone, at least with what I've experienced.
Not sure if any of this is helpful, but thought I'd share my thoughts...

I keep it on auto or low all the time. this is definitely a real problem, because it was nowhere near as bad on GB. now I know they fixed the cell standby issue, but I can literally see the battery go right on down when I turn it on. 3-4 hours on would kill it.
Maybe try with auto off for a while, see if you notice any difference.

Looking at your battery's discharge rate graph, looks pretty normal. There's no drastic drops in battery, it's fairly linear in discharge, and even if the screen is using most of that. However, there could be other culprits. What about sync, or haptic, or any of the other things I outlined in my guide? WiFi is off, from what I saw, but might not just be the screen. Have you tried editing build prop for "deeper" deep sleep or edits to other things? I'm going to update my OP with a few more things I thought of for improving overall battery life this weekend. Maybe some of the new ones will help...

then my battery calibration scrambles ... i did switchin yesterday & it showed me
30% far early than expected
Same problem here..my screen draining 57%
Why don't you try the app betterbatterystats it's here in xda:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=15869868
This may help to see the real problem of the fast battery drain you said, also you can install the app rootDim from the playstore to custom your screen brightness.

Are you noticing worse battery life after doing the kitkat update? I am, and I want to know if you are too.
Post in here, take the poll, and lets figure out how to track down what is going on.
Requirements: Try to post a screenshot of your battery stats, wakelocks (if possible) and how many hours you were getting before on a charge.

My two main reasons for me rooting are ad blocking and greenify. I just learned that greenify added support for non-root users. I have greenified every app I don't use on a regular basis and am noticing significant difference in battery. The only thing is that after you use a greenified app you have to re-greenify manually.
Greenify and tasker work great, I had tasker auto hibernate all greenified apps upon screen on. Its basically the closest you can get to automation without rooting.
Greenify has saved my battery issues.

More often than not, a factory reset will take care of battery issues after a major OS upgrade. I'm not sure if it's left-over system files or something about the "upgrading" of existing apps during the process, but I've had to do it with both my Galaxy S3 and Nexus 7 2012. Not every upgrade, mind you, but with one or two.
I do notice my system battery monitor jumping around all crazy, this is after a factory reset.

Bout the same for me. Only thing I notice is that before my wifi was always running in background according to bbs, no matter what I did to change settings. Not anymore after update.
First cycle on the update I lost 35% or so in a couple hours with little use. I checked battery use and Instagram was the primary hog. Uninstalled and reinstalled the app and getting awesome battery life comparable or better than before the update. Not sure why instagram went crazy but works fine now
