[Q] USB device not recognized : Cyanogen Mod 11 " Android Kitkat - General Questions and Answers

Hi All,
I upgraded my Galaxy S Plus GT 19001 from Gingerbread to Kitkat. Everything seems to work fine except that, the device is not recognized once I connect it to my laptop. It does not show anything in the mobile and does not even show anything in PC and device manager. Enabled developer options, tried connecting, a message comes up for few seconds for device not recognized and then it disappears. No trace anywhere.
Checked several blogs and forums but no help.
What to do? Please help.. :crying::crying::crying:

I used to have this problem but a pc reboot always solved it temporarily. Try updating the drivers as well, you made a big jump from gingerbread to kk.

When you say drivers, which drivers do you mean? The device manager does not show any yellow triangle which can be updated. I am wondering what to be done...

Try downloading the latest Samsung drivers again and reinstalling them. Delete the old ones.

Seems most likely a driver related issue.I had a hard time recently connecting my Galaxy Grand running CM11 to a windows 8.1 laptop. Downloaded the samsung drivers and installed them.Worked fine after that.

solved[i9003] usb connection lost, kies not detecting either.

Everything was fine till last nite but then I noticed that the phone is not showing in windows explorer nor kies is able to connect. I then restarted the computer but that did not solve the issue. The phone mtp shows connected but comp cpu goes up & remains 90-100% which means some driver is hogging the cpu.
What can be done to solve this issue, reinstalling is going to be a major headache as kies gave me hell lot of a time installing the driver on my win7 x64 system.
Connection choice is set to kies not on ask on connection.
Problem solved.
Took the battery out for few sec & then restarted connected to computer without any problems & now kies too working fine.
Firmware not upgrading through KIES
just wanted to know, were u successful in updating your firmware to 2.3 from the stock 2.2 that it was providing.
I have a 64 bit windows 7 system, and everytime i try updating the firmware through KIES it crashes.
Has anyone faced this issue?

[Q] Root Problems

I am coming from the Galaxy S Vibrant and so far I am not impressed by the whole rooting process for the Skyrocket. I have tried on 3 different windows computers and every time it says it is unable to recognize device. I installed the drivers but I don't believe they were installed correctly. When I click root in super one click, the application stops responding.
I made sure to select debugging and when I connect the phone to the computer nothing prompts me on the phone. Is there something I am missing in order to get the Skyrocket recognized by Windows?

You need to be patient. the program stopped responding for nearly 5 minutes for me before it started going again and my PC is lightning fast.
Try installing Samsung kies. Should give you all the drivers you need.
If your computer doesn't recognize the phone at all then you most likely dont have the drivers installed correctly or a USB hub driver issue in which case no USB devices would work. Like I said, try installing kies. Once you can get the PC to recognize the phone as a storage device, you should be good to run the root program.

I tried Kies already and it didn't help. I can connect my Vibrant with no problem to my computer as well.

Can you connect other USB devices to your computer? USB drives etc
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using XDA App
i had somewhat the same problem , I rooted my old vibrant first incase i screwed something up , no big loss , it went smooth as butter , then I hooked the SR up and it took forever , 3 try I unplugged alot of my other usb devices , restarted the pc and tried , it hung for a few minutes and I left it alone , it eventually worked the last time. I also have a pretty solid pc , running win7 64bit , unplugging alot of my usb devices seemed to be the thing that really helped.
hope that helps ya

rooting this device is easier then posting that on the forum =)
1) If you are still 2.3.5 (and didn't do the OTA upgrade) -> use doomlord's script (DooMLoRD_v3_ROOT-zergRush-busybox-su) or newer if there is one:
-if you did do the OTA upgrade - search the forum for another way to root.
2) install KIES (if its installed, continue to 3)
3) extract the DooMLoRD_v3_ROOT-zergRush-busybox-su.zip to anywhere (maybe c:\doom )
4) open a command prompt (run as administrator if your not running windows XP)
5) goto c:\doom\files\
6) type "adb devices"
- if it finds your device - just run the script , it will root your phone
- if it does NOT find your device, troubleshot kies (uninstall it, reboot, reinstall, disable anti virus/firewall, etc etc) because if it can't find the device then the problem is someplace on your computer.
good luck!

Besides samsung kies, you should also uninstall and reinstall the correct drivers from the samsung website. Also sometimes something as simple as getting a new usb cable will fix this probem. Sounds kinda dumb but ive had samsung phones that work with one cable and are not recognized by another.

I've had that cable problem too, it was due to a cheapo "charge only" USB cable that came with a free charger... lesson learned!
[Solved] Odin doesn't detect your phone. Drivers error. Blah Blah...
Folks!
Your phone BRICKED???
ODIN Doesn't detect your phone???
Shows Driver Error Code 37???
Stuck in bootloop???
Well Well!
Everything is fine.
Don't just try all the solutions online.
The problem is installation of samsung drivers over and over again is replacing the existing drivers instead of wiping them out. So, the drivers have become incompatible with your device and as well as ODIN.
The solution is very simple.
Just reinstall your operating system of pc, install drivers and then You will definitely find what the magic with the drivers.
Hope you found it helpful...

Hi guys,
Please help me my note 4 n910c just got updated to Marshmellow 6.0
and after the update the fast charging is not working
I have tried everything I also have an s7 and that shows fast charging but my phone doesnt show fast charging
its taking 6 7 hours and its still 60 percent

So i tried to connect my note 4 to pc it wont connect to pc

but my other phones do get connected
all my drivers are updated and tried everything but nothing is happening
so i thought maybe it would connect to odin in download mode but it wont show up
Now help me please of what to do
if i normally use the 6.0 it wont fast charge and if i want to downgrade it wont connect to odin
HELP MEEEE IM HELPLESS
PLEASE TELL ME if i can flash the old lollipop 5.1 some other way than connecting to odin
or is there any other way to downgrade?

Have you tried uninstalling all the USB drivers for your device, restarting PC, re-installing drivers then restart PC and then try connecting your device.
When you updated, did you boot to stock recovery and factory reset and wipe cache partition then reboot? Sometimes failing to wipe during update can cause things to not work correctly.

It was an official update.
Now I just did the factory reset and cache partition wipe nothing helps
My pc still wont recognise my note 4.

And when you right click on the driver with the yellow triangle and select update driver, it does nothing?
Have you tried manually updating the driver and choosing the option to select from files on your PC instead of the auto-update feature? You can use this method to navigate to the folder that the Samsung drivers are installed in and select them from there, this should load the drivers.

Have you connected to Odin While in download mode and it isn't recognized? Or have you only connected to PC while the phone is running in system and the PC doesn't recognize it?
Try these troubleshooting steps:
https://www.drivereasy.com/knowledg...ice-descriptor-request-failed-for-windows-10/
Follow the steps but don't install the crappy driver easy program.
Here's a video

There are actually a lot of tricks that can be used to solve the "device descriptor failed/not recognized" error.
A Google search for:
"USB device descriptor failed"
Will give you plenty of tips.

You changed the USB settings as suggested and nothing changes?
You disabled anti-virus before installing the drivers?
You disabled fast startup? (If your PC has this feature)
How USB works on your note 4 versus how it works on your other devices may have slight differences, that would explain why your others connect and the note 4 doesn't.
Have you enabled USB debugging developer options?
99% of the time this is a PC hardware/driver issue, not an issue with the android device in question.
