[Q] Boot Animation Sounds

I have a boot animation I want to add sound to... I already have the sooun and the steps the developer of the boot animation didnt work nor did a few other instructions that I ooked at and tried. So I was wondering if anyone in the wonderful world of XDA could help me do this... I would highly appreciate it and thanks in advance.

Rom and kernel?
If your doing this on faux kernel it wont work I've tried

Ok what you do is go to your systems folder > media > audio and create folder poweron then rename the sound file you want to PowerOn.ogg and place it into the poweron folder. You should be good to go if it doesn't work then its not supported

Hello i am searching for the reverse TV animation when locking the screen.I want it for unlocking the screen.Funny hah?It would be nice if someone helps me : ) Thnx!

Its already available in CM based roms.. if you want it for stock roms, it involves a lot of framework modding. Please check out this thread for further assistance.

EDT: Converted the same audio file to mp3,i replaced it in the archive,i installed it with Xrecovery and...everything fine but when i boot nothing-same old song can you try to fix it ? Tnx !!!

Should i flash it or replace the bootanimation? Becouse the last time no matter how much i flash the zip there wasn't any differences...
EDIT: After flashing...nothing again.Will try to replace bootanimation.What about bootaudio?

Try mounting /system first! If not then umm idk why its not qprking ! What rom ar you on??
But try copying both files into system/media

I am on Feralab V20 and there is a problem again-black screen while booting.No bootanimation.2.3. is my Rom (Gb).No audio,No sound

Its not possible to have sound on a boot splash screen for a stock based rom its only possible on cm/aokp based roms.

wrong,how about other brand like lg,etc that have 2.3.7 with sound in its bootanimations? and by the way feravolt's roms are stock based and yes,he made a bootanimation with sound.

[REQ-BOOTANIMATION] Droid X with Sound

Hi all.
I'm looking the bootanimation of Droid X with the sound and in 1080p. Unfortunately, the link in the description no longer works (megaupload link) and I search try desperately another link.
Someone could share this bootanimation with the sound please ?

I don't know about other boot animators, but I haven't been able to get boot sounds working. Supposedly, they have to be supported by the kernel, and the Nexus 5 stock kernel doesn't do it.

Even if the sound does not work, I would like the bootanimation.

Thats your boot animation. You may have to modify the desc.txt to fit the nexus screen, though.
I wasn't able to find the audio file :/

I resized the animation and added it to my bootanimation thread as well. The sound has been lost over time so I can't help you there. Happy theming!

The animation goes a little too fast but I think it is possible to solve this problems by modifying the desc.txt and making 20 fps, no ?
EDIT : When I change the fps rate, I have no bootanimation lol.

Make sure when you zip it back up, you aren't compressing it by setting compression level to "store".

Also, if your rom currently supports sound in boot animations, I put together a quick sound thats kinda similar. Feel free to use it if you like it.

If not, try google searching for sounds like "startup", "robotic", "initializing", that kinda thing. Maybe you'll find something that fits.

Ive been trying for a good portion of the day to get boot sounds working, and apparently it's a feature that has to be supported by the kernel. Also, the CM team hates it, and would rather boot audio never exist in CM at all. Some users have tried reaching out to the team members for help (and gotten pretty far), but ultimately it looks as though we aren't going to have boot audio in CyanogenMod. Bug report responded to by the man himself here: https://jira.cyanogenmod.org/browse/CYAN-218
Of course this can change with different ROMs (possibly even Kernels), but i've already tried a couple new kernels as well, and had no luck.
Let me know if you find anything in the future that works for you!

hi,i read this thread to add a boot sound with cm11 base rom..
and problem was, as you write,that cm team hates boot sound so it's impossible to add it..
but there was some tricks,as example using /system/bin/stagefright command to start a boot sound creating a simple sh to add in init.d folder (stagefright -a -o powernon.mp3)..with last android 4.3 base seems that stagefright there was in /system/bin
But with my surprise in last cm base roms kk 4.4.2 8 (but also stock roms) stagefright command was deleted by /system/bin so it's impossible use this command to enable boot sound,and i don't know why was removed stagefright..Maybe now in KK roms there is another command that has substitued stagefright command?
PS the only system/bin command that i try to start a boot sound is "media dispatch play" that launch a media player automatically playing last song that you listen to..(try in terminal emulator)
teorically if you create a simple script with this command at boot should be playing last song..
you can try using an app boot shell (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kislay.bootshellcommand&hl=it)
but for me don't work
if you want you can search on Google some sh script (bootsnd.sh) or zip package (CM4DX-Bootsound.zip) where there is this trick..
Maybe someone can explain stagefright command on KK 4.4.2?

Edit: There's also a ton of custom Bootlogo's and bootanimations in the Moto G forum. Both the 2013 moto G and X have the same resolutions so they all work just perfectly on either device.

I've got a flashable Custom Bootanimation that i posted yesterday here:,
If you don't have custom recovery, or want to do it manually: extract the .zip file and go to system>media and copy the bootanimation.zip file to your phone and then use root explorer to move it to system>media. Then change the permissions to rw-r-r.
That's probably not a very good epxlanation, so here's a guide with pictures that explains it really well
I'll add more custom bootaniomations the next few days in the thread as I create them so keep checking back

Sadly no, there's no way that I know of moving the files to the system file on the phone without root or a custom recovery.
