Try GO locker.Have option to disable system lock. Not sure if it works on ICS.

on desire s ICS stock rom GO locker lags as hell , and there is no option to disable stock locker (it directs you to system settings and on ICS there is no option to disable the locker)

With root you could delete the system app that controls the lock screen. May throw force closes or bootloops at you though so best make a nandroid backup from recovery before hand

Then only way is what heavy said.Unlock, recovery, back up,root or install custom rom.

Oh, no, there are no ill side effects from deleting the HTC lockscreen APK - it will just replace your lockscreen with the stock ICS one (yes, getting rid of the ring )

You can always download them at Droid-life
So does anyone know of a way other than using the Droid 2 Bootstrap to install the black notification bar?

Get the from My Droid World...The full R2-D2 ROM is there.
No Star Wars live Wallpapers but the D2 ones are in full and clean ROMs.

If you are having trouble with bootstrap then make sure your Superuser is setup right. Do you have 2 super user icons? You can install it manually if you have ADB working.
When I click the icon it goes to a black screen with just the title bar saying Superuser Permissions. So it seems that may be the issue. Should I try to "reroot" my phone?

Whe you click on Superuser it shouldn't be just black screen, you shojld get a list of applications that are using Superuser permission, try reroot, maybe it will help

Does this do the same SuperClean as before? Or do you also remove the Star Wars ringtones?
Yesterday, I had a jarring experience when I got a notification, and I heard R2 beeping and such until I pulled down the notification shade. Before you had us only wipe the /system/app and /system/framework folders. I know I can remove them manually, it is on my list of things to do, but it would be nice if the Super Clean cleaned those out as well. No big deal, I really shouldn't have to reflash. Just a suggestion though.
So how can I manually clean out the old root files so I can root again. The one step root method is giving me an error 05 unable to copy superuser.apk
Sent from my R2-D2
Try downloading Titanium Backup and click the "problems?" button. It will update the busybox. I had a similar problem, and that fixed it.

You do not need to ROOT, just download the latest superuser from market or find the thread on XDA and download it from there.
When we install do we wipe data, cache, and system or will the zip wipe the system for us?

Well better than jar jar getting in your face
I left the sounds behind incase some people want them...you can delete them by going to system/media.
No need to reflash...I just cleaned up the installs a bit.

Thats what it does. When you start an app that needs SU permissions it will pop up and ask to allow or deny. If you select allow and then go back into superuser app it will show it listed...

If you want to wipe data and cache then go ahead. Some people have luck with not wiping and others don't, it is up to you. You do not need to wipe system since the ROMs will do that.
Do not WIPE anything when going to Super Clean ROM. No need too.
I don't get how super clean works. Does it just delete the blur crap from the clean rom?
And if I install it can I manually put the Blur email back in? I hate everything blur but the email, since the email works way better than the stock email app. I have hotmail and gmail, so I need both email apps, and I'd prefer to use blur and gmail vs. stock and gmail.

It wipes system and framework and replaces it with the new files.
Copy bluremail.apk and bluremailengine.apk, set proper permissions, delete emailgoogle.apk and reboot. Should have blur email back.

Hate to say it but Titanium Backup is really only reliable for restoring applications and their settings, not system settings. At least that's been the case for me most of the time I've tried. Even when restoring to a similar ROM base I've seen weird stuff with restoring system settings.
Me too

Same here. I flash the ROM and after back up with Titanium (not restore, mind you) the lockscreen icons are gone. Not even a nandroid backup can restore them.

I am trying out another rom and from what I have found is that like I said if I just restore the apps and the data for the apps Im fine with that
Is it possible to have it auto install my, doing a lot of tapping.

A little unclear question, but will try to answer what I understood.
You can select from "Batch" (or just click on backup/restore tab and restore user apps (+data if you want). Or you can always extract from any nandroid backup you already had.
If by tapping you mean superuser permissions, you can always check remember permission for that app when allowing it.
By auto install do you mean instead of hitting install each time just have it done automatically? You need titanium pro

Does anybody know if there is a way to reload the arrangement of the application icons and widgets on each screen every time you do a wipe and fresh install? I know titanium backup allows you to save your applications so you don't have to redownload those everytime but it gets annoying to have to hold and drag all the icons to each screen everytime i try a new rom.

You really really should buy TB Pro but if you're really that cheap you can use this https://market.android.com/details?id=com.rerware.android.MyBackupRoot
*if you didn't wipe /system and /boot it is NOT A FULL WIPE*

Does TB Pro offer anything that McBackup Root does not?
Launcher blocked by wrong. No home screen anymore!
Hi,
I need your urgent help. I'd froze HTC Sense in Titanium backup because I was working with Go launcher, but today I disabled Go launcher in startup manager and I don't have any home screen now.
How can I restore one of them (Sense or Go launcher)? I don't want to hard reset my phone because I need my contacts, SMS, ....
My phone is rooted and I'd installed clockwork recovery.
Install Go launcher again using adb install command.
There could be many more ways to get it working, don't panic.
I installed ADW Launcher and launcherpro directly from android market.in status bar it shows that they are installed. but they didn't run and my screen is still blank.
I blocked the startup programs using Optimize ToolBox(15 functions)
is there a way to manage startup apps in recovery mode? Some thing like an script and so on.
------
update: Default pc connection mode of my phone is "Internet pass through" and I can't change it because it doesn't show connection mode screen. I think I can connect it to pc in recovery mode. I will search to learn how can I install go launcher using adb. hope it helps.

Oh no!!! I had disabled usb debugging too and can't turn it on. adb show "device not found error".
what I've done: boot in Fast boot USB. run "adb install filename.apk" and shows " device not found".
Let me start by saying I love the viper one rom, it's clean, fast, and the tweak setup is super easy and quick.
With that said, I'm extremely disappointed in the newest update from 2.1 to 2.2. After updating my phone runs slower then the stock default phone, contacts, and sms messaging apps take 3 times as long to load when it was instant before. All of my other complaints are aesthetic ado I won't ramble on about that.
Why is it so clunky of an update? Am I missing a peace to streamline it? Can I stop it from showing the "new update" notification because I sure don't want to use 2.2
would have posted this to the Rom thread but I don't have the permission due to being new. Thanks for any input!
alec
Go to settings -> personalize -> skin and "reuse" the HTC Skin. (second entry in the personalize settings)
That fixed the problem for me, now it's not that buggy anymore.
Maybe you also want to clear the cache/app data from the Venom Tweaks/HUB Apps in the settings if you still have some bugs, that could also help. (settings -> apps -> all apps (tabs on the bottom, last one) -> Venom Tweaks -> clear data & clear cache)
If you would have searched in the main thread of the ROM you would have found this solution For example in this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=39160456&postcount=4239
(I also searched some time to get the solution but as you see I found one)
Yeah I tried all those fixes with no luck, I'm a programmer so I have no problem digging around in the system. I rolled back the Rom and its back to running smith, looks like I'll just have to wait tell the next update and hope its solved.
Thanks for the input though

Backup the launcher you are using. If it's a TW rom, backup the TouchWiz Home app, then when install new rom (provided it's another TW rom) restore the data only from that app. I do this all the time on Omega roms.

No, but did you reboot? Most of the time a reboot is required when restoring the launcher. Just to get clear, the app is Touch Wiz Home 4.2.2 I9505ZHUDMl1 or similar. Back it up. Then when a new rom is installed or when just going to recovery and doing a full wipe you boot back up. Install TB from playstore. Restore all normal apps. Then, restore data only of TouchWiz app. The phone will prompt saying to the effect of when a system app is restored a reboot is recommended. Then reboot. All apps should be in their place, however widgets will have to be manually placed again. This only works for apps, not widgets. But for me this is still a way quicker way of setting up a new rom to my way of liking.
