Like a lot of others I've was repeatedly getting the following error when attempting to install the XE700T1C Android IA image -
fatal: assertion failed bootable/iago/plugins/gummiboot.c:gummiboot_execute:154 'efibootmgr encountered an error (status 100)
[email protected]:/#
This is related to the secure keys of the hardware and the EFI boot loaders which are used to install Android IA.
To install sucessfully, select the MokManager option from the boot menu and select to 'Import hash from disk' - choose the bottom option then browse to the BOOT/EFI folder and select to trust each of the .EFI files - when prompted press 0 then Y to import the keys.
After this the installation will happen without the error.
Hope this helps anyone getting as wound up by this error as I've been.
Cheers.

Hello,
i've found a solution. Problem is AI installer can't add boot entry in EFI, but all necessary files are stored in right place. All you need is a EasyUEFI 1.8 to manually add boot entry into EFI Boot Mgr.
After install an run program just select "Create", choose type as "Linux", enter boor entry name "Andoid", select partition with "combobox". After that select ".efi" file in bottom file chooser (gummiboot.efi) it must be in "/" of EFI Partition.
Next and last what you need is select that record to boot first.

Hello, everybody.
It's my first post-guide, so sorry if I make some mistakes
BEFORE STARTING UP I HAVE TO SAY THAT ME AND THE FORUM ADMINISTRATORS DO NOT TAKE ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE ON YOUR DEVICE.
BE SURE THAT YOU WILL LOSE THE WARRANTY OF YOUR PHONE WHILE DOING ILLEGAL ACTIONS.
So....LET'S START!!!
(If the links are broken PM me to fix it, thank you.)
Required things that you need:
1.) Motorola Milestone with stock 2.1firmware (Eclair)
2.) Motorola USB Drivers files
3.) Vulnerable sbf Recovery File
4.) RSD Lite (v4.9)
5.) G.O.T. OpenRecovery (v2.01) or Androidiani OpenRecovery (v3.3)
(INFO ABOUT ANDROIDIANI COMMING SOON. THANKS TO greglord ABOUT HIS REQUEST)
Rar pass:
Code:
[B][COLOR="Red"]mhnx[/COLOR][/B]
How to enter the G.O.T. or the Androidiani OpenRecovery Menu:
Due the motorola limmitations we have to flash a vulnerable recovery file to run unofficial zip files on our devices.
Step One:
Power off your device, after open the hardware keyboard and press both the D-pad UP key and the power key and let the device power up.
The bootloader will be oppened. Now connect your phone with the usb cable on your pc and let it install the drivers properly.
Bootloader seems like this:
Code:
Bootloader 90.78
Battery OK
OK to Program
Connect USB
Data Cable
THIS IS ONLY FOR MILESTONE WITH BOOTLOADER v90.78
If you want to update your BOOTLOADER go here and flash the sbf file like I explain you from below.
Step Two:
After completing the driver installation start the RSD Lite on your pc,
press the "..." button on the program and navigate to find the sbf file you downloaded before and click on the start button.
If the "Start" button will be gray you might rename the .sbf file to a shorter name like: "bootloader.sbf".
Step Three:
Now you must power on your mobile phone and connect it on your computer,
after this you must copy the update.zip and OpenRecovery for Androidiani OpenRecovery or update.zip,Openrecovery and OpenRecovery-CFG folders on the root of your SDCARD.
After this steps you must power off your device.
Now there are two ways to enter the Recovery mode on your phone,
1.) Long press both the camera button and the power keys until the /!\ image appears on your phone and
2.) Open the hardware keyboard and long press both the "x" and the power button until the /!\ image appears on your phone.
after this image you have to release the previous keys and press the Volume + button and the camera button.
You are now on the Recovery menu,
navigate down with the D-pad hardware keyboard and select "apply sdcard:update.zip"
after this you are on the G.O.T. or the Androidiani OpenRecovery menu.
How to ROOT your Milestone with G.O.T. OpenRecovery:
(You must be in the G.O.T. OpenRecovery menu)
Navigate on the "Root Phone" selection with the D-pad or the Volume keys and press it either with the D-pad center key or the Camera
Button
This is it! Your device is now rooted.
(Easy eh? )
How to undo ROOT
Use this commands with the ADB-Shell to undo the root on your phone.
Code:
mount system
rm /system/bin/su
rm /system/app/Superuser.apk
umount system
How to Nandroid Backup & Restore your device:
(You must be in the G.O.T. OpenRecovery menu)
Recommendation: Charge your phone 50%+ before Backup/Restore
Navigate on the "Nandroid" selection.
Enter the "New Nandroid System (1.45)".
Now, enter the "Open Nandroid Menu" and hit "Backup"
You are now to select the items you want to backup, if you want to backup everything just select "Backup All", if you don't want to backup everything navigate down and select the items you want to backup and press "Backup Selected".
If you want to Restore a Nandroid Backup, in the nandroid menu you have to press "Restore", a menu will appear with the backups you have done so far, select that you want from the backups and in the menu that will appear hit "Restore All" or select theese you want and press "Restore Selected".
THE BACKUP AND THE RESTORE MIGHT TAKE SOME MINUTES TO COMPLETE.
How to Install Memhack,BusyBox,Flac-Support,Just in Time (beta) and change the Screen Density (Resolution)
On the main G.O.T. OpenRecovery Menu navigate down and select "Launch 2.1 Menu"
After this navigate again down and select "Hacks & Mods Menu"
A menu will appear.
Theese are very easy to install.
Just navigate at the thing you want to install and press "Install"
If you want to Uninstall just press "Deinstall"
Little strange is Busybox.
To install Busybox select:
Code:
[ ] /system/sbin
[ ] /system/xbin
[ ] /data/busybox
and after selecting theese hit "Install" down of theese selections.
To change density navigate down again and press "Open Menu"
Again a menu will appear with some selections from 190 to 280
there are some tips in there about the screen size:
(smallest, original, biggest). I think that you will understand the sizes .
How to Wipe & Clean your Milestone:
If you want to make a Wipe with the G.O.T. OpenRecovery menu,
open the menu navigate down and select "Wipe & Cleaning Menu"
After the menu is loaded select:
Code:
Wipe Dalvik Cache
Wipe Data / Factory Reset
and Wipe Cache Partition
You are done! You have wiped your phone.
To make a Full-Wipe you must format and the SD-Card.
WARNING! You will lose all of your data except the files on SD-Card.
If you don't want to lose your data make a Nandroid Backup before wiping!!
How to change the baseband on your phone:
Open the G.O.T. OpenRecovery menu navigate down and select the "Stock GOT Features Menu".
Navigate again down and select the "Baseband Menu", after this you are ready to select the baseband you need to run on your phone.
If I have some mistakes, please correct me
THIS FOR NOW, IF YOU NEED SOMETHING ELSE TO ADD JUST PM ME.
UPDATES COMMING!!!
for future..
this too
Nice tutorial- I suggest you update these 2 things:
1. its Eclair, not Enclair
2. I also suggest you mention Androidiani OpenRecovery as alternative to GOT OpenRecovery.

Hello, there is no way to open strait into open recovery.
You have just to open the default and select the update.zip (the second choice)..

Dear graphitepearl03,
I followed the instructions contained @ android.doshaska.net/rootable i.e.
[...] 2. "E:EOCD marker occurs after start of EOCD E:signature verification failed" error after you apply the update.zip in recovery means that you do not have the vulnerable recovery on your phone.
If you applied an OTA update before, there is a script run at every system boot that checks and re-flashes the recovery when its checksum doesn't match. In such case, you have to avoid booting to android after the vulnerable recovery flash. Boot directly to recovery when RSD Lite restarts the phone (hold camera button) and from there remove the /system/etc/install-recovery.sh file.[... go on reading ...]
This helped me.
Best,

You need to flash the ROM prior to the kernel. Doing otherwise, the ROM (usually including a kernel) will overwrite your kernel of choice.
ALSO, it doesn't seem like this package is compatible with your phone since it errors out at the model number. Choose a different ROM or contact the ROM maker.
Edit: If you want to transfer something else to your phone, go to Mounts and storage then Mount USB storage. Then connect your phone to your PC, a new drive should pop up. This is your SDcard contents.

Most if not all ROMs will include a kernel.
Yes you need a ROM that is compatible with your phone. It is strange that this one doesn't work, might be a bad download or simply an error for some reason. Post in fergie's thread, who did the ROM port, if you need help.

Summary: I need to access the files on relatively old model of a Maxwest tablet using Android OS and do not have the unlock pin code #. It belonged to someone special who used it for pictures, but it also contains important files that our family and I wish to access; however, we cannot determine the pin code # and we are limited on available recovery options.
The details regarding the current situation and "requirements" are as follows:
- #1 requirement is to not delete the existing files, which means no factory reset please
- There is no email associated to it meaning:
1) I am unable to use a "Forgot my Password" feature
2) I am unable to Android Device Manager
- USB debugging is Off and I'm unable to access it when plugged from laptop to tablet
- I've attempted to use .zip files from multiple sources including ones from the hyperlinks below when using the Android System Recovery option to "Apply Update from External Storage"
1) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2227103
2)https://sourceforge.net/projects/androidpatternunlocker/?source=typ_redirect
When I restart up the device under the Android System Recovery screen, I see the following information (it is condensed a little bit)
"Android System Recover <3e>
rk312x-eng 4.4.4 KTU84Q eng.lq.20150808.124117 test-keys"
...
"reboot system now
apply update from ADB
apply update from external storage"
...
"Recover system v4.4.2"
After trying to use the "apply update from external storage" with a microSD card containing the zip files from the links above, I receive the following error message:
"-- Install /mnt/external_sd ...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
E:footer is wrong
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted."
Please Help!!
Hi there and welcome to assist,
Unfortunately there is nothing about your question/device on XDA forum. Try a Google search first.
You'll have to create an account to post in the main forums if you have any other questions.
Good luck
This guide is for those who still own a functional Xiaomi Pocophone F1 which released back in 2018, and still want to get more "life" out of it since Xiaomi will unlikely offer anymore system updates. Shout out to @Retrial for the numerous amounts of resources he's made available online and @bgcngm for his contribution by providing the latest installment of LineageOS 20.
Now, throughout this guide, I have linked the page or post based on information I gathered to put this guide together in order to credit that person instead of having to name drop them individually. These are fully detailed instructions to make it easier for newbs.
I've spent the time figuring all of this stuff out so hopefully you won't have to. PLEASE DO NOT PM ME FOR HELP. REPLY TO THIS GUIDE BELOW, THANKS. NOW LET'S BEGIN!!!
1. Since the release of this device, Xiaomi has switched up their bootloader unlocking process so with that being said, these instructions are being laid out on the premise that the bootloader to your device has already been unlocked so if you need further assistance accomplishing this task, please refer to this guide I made previously that breaks down the process.
2. Once the bootloader is unlocked and after the device reboots for the first-time prompting the initial setup, power off device and put it in fast boot mode (Vol down + Power button).
3. Download the latest version of ADB Installer. Setup Fastboot:
a. Run the ADB setup file, and answer each of the following questions accordingly followed by the 'Enter' key:
"Do you want to install ADB and Fastboot?" type Y
"Install ADB system-wide?" type Y
"Do you want to install device drivers?" type N
After completing the installation, you should see the ADB folder located in "C:\".
b. Ensure USB Debugging is already enabled on your device prior.
c. Download and install the latest Xiaomi USB Drivers for your PC, connect the device to the computer via USB cable, and confirm that your phone shows up recognized as "Android Bootloader Interface".
NOTE: If you experience the following error: "Windows encountered a problem installing the drivers for your device – Android ADB Interface... The hash for the file is not present in the specified catalog file. The file is likely corrupt or the victim of tampering."
To counteract this issue, it's necessary to 'disable driver signing enforcement' in Windows to install Unsigned Xiaomi drivers:
Hold down the Shift key while accessing the Start menu to restart your PC.
Once the "Choose an option" screen appears, go to "Troubleshoot" –> "Advanced options" –> "Startup Settings" –> "Restart".
After your PC restarts, select "7" for startup setting "Disable driver signing enforcement".
d. Launch "Command Prompt" on your PC and run the command:
cd C:/adb
To show a list of devices (including your phone) connected to your PC, enter the command:
fastboot devices
4. Download the TWRP recovery file by REIGNZ v2 and here [twrp-beryllium-v3.7.0-A12-V2.img] and copy it into the ADB install folder.
NOTE: Boot loop after updating LineageOS via TWRP recovery
NOTE: "Press any key to shutdown" error while in fastboot mode:
This is due to Windows automatically installing Kedacom Device Driver when using a Ryzen PC. No matter how many times you install drivers, your PC will install this driver again, forcing you to have to resort to using an Intel PC.
NOTE: Use TWRP by REIGNZ based on A9, NOT A12 to flash DFE.
5. Flash custom recovery file in CMD, run commands:
fastboot flash recovery "twrp-beryllium-v3.7.0.img"
fastboot boot twrp-beryllium-v3.7.0.img
NOTE: If receiving error: "FAILED (remote: Requested download size is more than max allowed)", try using a different USB (3.0) port.
6. Your device should've automatically boot into TWRP custom recovery; If a Password Prompt appears, tap "cancel" to enter into the main menu.
a. Go to Wipe –> Advanced Wipe, and wipe just the 'data' partition; click 'Back' to the main menu.
b. Download Disable Force Encryption [by Retrial] (DFE) then copy it to "This PC\POCO F1\Internal Storage\TWRP"
c. Install DFE, "Reboot System" followed by holding the Vol Up + Power button to enter into TWRP custom recovery.
7. Now your device is ready for a custom ROM; Download Poco F1 LineageOS and vendor 13.0 firmware.
a. Since LineageOS doesn't automatically come included with Google Apps [for legal reasons] so you're going to need to download Retrial-NikGApps-19-04-2023 or other equivalents separately.
b. Copy over the ROM files into "This PC\POCO F1\Internal Storage\TWRP": the vendor 13.0 firmware, the LineageOS build, and the Google Apps downloaded earlier.
c. Start by installing the vendor firmware followed by the LineageOS file, and the Google Apps.
d. Lastly, clear the "Cache & Dalvick" and "Reboot System" back to Android.
NOTE: Do NOT forget about installing the vendor firmware to prevent further issues.
8. LineageOS 20 based on Android 13 should now be fully functional.
a. Your Mi Account must be added to your Mi Settings
Wipe –> Format Data
9. Go to Settings –> About phone –> Scroll down to "Build number," tap it 7 times to become a "Developer".
a. Go "back" –> System –> Developer options –> Scroll down to "Verify apps over USB" and disable it then scroll down to "Default USB configuration" and change it to "File Transfer".
10. Now, you will need to install Magisk by using the Patch Image method.
a. Pull down the Notification Bar from the top of the screen and change "Charging this device via USB" to "File Transfer".
b. Open Lineage OS build [e.g., "lineage-20.0-20230422-nightly-beryllium-signed"] and copy "boot.img" to the phone's internal storage (e.g., "Download" folder).
c. Download the latest version of Magisk (Magisk v26.1) and copy it to the phone's internal storage and use the native "Files" app to install the apk.
NOTE: Magisk binaries (ZIP) are included within Magisk Manager APK file and you don't have to download it separately.
d. Launch Magisk from the app drawer and go to "Install" under Magisk –> "NEXT" (beside "Options") –> "Select and Patch a File" (beside "Method") select the "boot.img" you copied internally –> "LET'S GO".
e. Copy the generated patched file from your device and place it into the ADB folder; NOTE: you may have to unplug and replug then reconnect the USB cable for the device to refresh itself in order to reveal the newly generated file. Flash it via fastboot by running the following commands:
cd C:/adb
fastboot flash boot boot.img
f. Reboot into the new ROM and voila!
fastboot reboot
g. Use an app such as Root Checker or BusyBox Checker to confirm root status.
h. To bypass/restore SafetyNet validation, open the Magisk app, go to Settings (cogwheel icon) and enable MagiskHide (instructions).
i. To check the device's SafetyNet status, use an called SafetyNet Helper Sample or SafetyNet Checker in the Play Store.
