[Q] rooted>unlocked bootloader>installed Custom Rom> back to original rom>guarantee?
I bought the sony xperia Z a year ago. I didnot like the Sony version of android so I rooted the phone, unlocked the bootloader and installed AOKP and afterwards cyanogenmod. After one year I thought of moving back to sony's android version and installed it with sony flash tool. Now my Smartphone's bootloader is locked and it is not rooted.
Now I have speaker problem with my phone. I had the guarantee for 2 years, so I still have time. But will I still get the guarantee and get repaired for free.

Well the bootloader is relocked and its unroofed and has a pure stock firmware so it should be repairable. Just send it in and see where it goes.
All the best

Nope, your guarantee is broken.
Today I got my mobile back. They send back my mobile back. They said my guarantee is broken because I donot have original android ROM installed. I used the flashtool to install the original Android but they knew it, I did something with my mobile. :crying:

Well that's what you call bad luck, Anyway can you still retry to send it back? Or did the register all the devices sended to them.
First : Is your bootloader locked again? and did you fully unroot it instead of temp unroot?
Second : Is it the stock rom and not a rom that looks like a stock rom? Like a tweaked one.

First: yes bootloader is locked and the phone is unrooted.
Second: It is a stock ROM. I used the Flash tool from sony. I was even able to install the update from update manager from sony to android 4.3

Does the xperia Z have a flash counter? That could be what tipped them off.

Get back the original software? JB 4.1.2

Hello guys,
I received my razr HD (925) today. It was already updated to 4.1.2.
Coming from my galaxy s2, where obtaining root is pretty easy I followed the first of your guides here - but failed at reading correctly:
I tried the "all in one tool" to get back to ICS to obtain root using the rootkeeper.
Something went wrong, the SW remained 4.1.2, but I had no radio signal any more (only verizon version I read lateron)
Now I managed to flash a france 4.1.1 s/w using RSD 6.1.4 - still having no root but can use it again, at least.
Is there any chance to get my (newer) original version back? At best rooted?

Maybe I should add, that it looks like my main problem is to find the up to date SW that was installed.....
Maybe I should send be back to my provider, get a new one and then do a dump / image and upload that BEFORE I "brick" it again =)
I would try to hard reset it and then try Matt's tool to go to back to 4.0.4 again.

[XT925] Downgrade to ICS stock rom ! Root any JB rom !
U can also reflash ur modem
Sent from my RAZR HD using xda app-developers app
Get the Droid Razr Utility
Then:
1. Use option 1 to go back to ICS
2. Go to settings - about phone and take the 6mb update.
3. Root using the utility
4. Install voodoo ota rootkeeper either from the utility or Google play
5. Open voodoo and protect root
6. Temporarily unroot.
7. Take the JB OTA
8 Open voodoo and restore root.
Use this method for XT925
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=36345060
The extide method is for VERIZON PHONE ONLY XT926
@extide
that was what I was doing - and what was not working.

To the other guys:
THanks, I'm going to unlock the bootloader then. Unfortunately it looks like some things have been changed in the factory delivered 4.1.2 so that not even safestrap is working any more.
With a locked bootloader the revert to ICS is not working.
Why you don t want unlock the bootloader ?

There are two reasons right now:
- I'm from germany and here we have seperate restrictions for warranty and guarantee (one is forced by law, the other is provided by motorola).
Motorola is not doing to repair unlocked Razr HDs
- My phone is new and I'm not sure whether I'm going to keep the Razr HD - unlocked it might be a problem to give it back to my dealer during the "test month" he offered.
(I still have my Galaxy S2 and had LOTZ of fun with new custom roms, trying different combinations, getting all the newest stuff ported right after it has been leaked anywhere for any modell - and on the other hand, there is not even the source to get my retail software back because no one shared it)

You didn't have to use flashtool. Use PC Companion. Sony's tool does the update for you.

Ok, I know, but my purpose was to change form Customized-ES to Custominzed-IT.
Once done that I would have downgraded my phone to Kitkat in order to root it.
Some minutes ago I managed to run 23.4.A.1.232 on my D6603 but I have some compatibility issues, preinstalled GAPPS don't run and the screen back illumination never turn off. I really don't know whats going on on that phone...
Now I'm using sony companion tool to repair the phone, if all goes right and I'm not going back to Customised-ES later I'll try to root it.
Basically all of this was a trial to understand if a was able to root it.

Anyway to Flash stock original firmware to my XZ premium prototype?

i have XZ premium prototype one with prototype firmware. I found stock original firmware in Xperifirm so i starting to work on it. after downloaded and create ftf (cant put the right name device for it as it shouldnt support yet for flashtools so i just choose XZ and it created with no issues). but when i start flashing it didnt go, i just would like to know do i need to install anything other than flashtools and device drivers? do i need adb or android sdk inorder to flash it? thanks a lot
You would have to wait for flashtool to support the XZ Premium and then it might not work and brick your device because the hardware might be different slightly from the prototype to the retail model.

Way back in the day when I had a prototype X10i it would only work on the prototype rom, when I flashed android 2.3 or something like that the touchscreen wouldn't work until I flashed back a stock 1.6 rom. It lasted 4 days before the screen went black out of nowhere bricked.
So yeah it's a risk going to another rom other than the prototype one in my experience.
What is the product CDA on your prototype rom? If it is storefront/commercial_journalist then i dont see a issue flashing a other region firmware on it.

Anyone managed to successfully flash stock firmware on prototype unit yet?
Yes I had prototype Xperia XA (F3111) and I successfully flashed both stock marshmallow and stock nougat onto it without any issues. Give it a try. I don't see why it shouldn't work for the XZP.

Fingerprint scanner and video recording not working after unlocking bootloader.

I unlocked my bootloader and relocked it with flashtool. Now I can only take photos on the camera app (same results with 3rd party apps). Any kind of video recording lags extremely or just gives me a blank screen and the fingerprint scanner doesn't respond. Like it's turned off. Any ideas how to fix this? I'm using the z5 premium e6853.
Thanks.

How did you relock bootloader? with TA backup?
Try to use patched kernel.
Thanks for the reply. I actually just was about to report back that I fixed the issue. I flashed over the drm workaround with twrp.
I found it here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/sony/xperia-z1-z2-z3-series-devices-drm-t2930672
Happy to say everything is working perfectly now.
Will this work for 7 nougat on a z5?
I'm not sure. I flashed back to marshmallow to get it working. Then upgraded to the latest official firmware after.
i have even flashed back to marshmallow and still fingerprint is not working - has all the apk but doesnt look like its activating @Mike3009 are you able to give me the steps you used - i have tried numerous different processes

I'm pretty new to all of this so I'm not sure if this is the most efficient way to do it but here's what I did.
first I downloaded the official marshmallow firmware from xperiafirm and flashed it over with the latest version of flashtool. If you're bootloader isn't already unlocked, you should unlock it in flashtool. (needs to stay unlocked after too for this to work. I tried relocking it after and lost functionality) after you've flashed it over you need to get a modified kernel for your phone and firmware version. Flash that over and install the latest twrp. After that install the drm fix. Test if everything is working and if it is, download the latest official firmware from xperiafirm and flash over with flashtool.

Try this drm fix. http://www.theandroidsoul.com/restore-drm-xperia-z5/
As for my marshmallow firmware, I'm in Taiwan so I used the only one listed on xperiafirm for Taiwan. Sorry I'm not able to use a Pc now to confirm.
are you on android 7.1.1?
Oops double post...sorry. Look below.
Yes. I didn't know to back up my drm keys before unlocking my bootloader and thought I was screwed. Now I'm on the latest 7.1.1, all drm functions working and I have root access. This drm fix works perfectly on the z5 premium e6853.(other models too but I can't personally verify)

How I can uproot my A7 2018?

Hello guys can I unroot my a7 2018 and go back to stock?
Just flash the original stock rom.
And become just like I buy it?
As far as I know we have integrated efuse, so once you root Knox is tripped. This means no more warranty in the most countries.
Even if you do unroot and restore the original software the whole motherboard needs to be replaced to make it like new one.

Exactly, but you lose your warranty of course.
This guys I try on it. But if I do this I can take OTA updates? And where I can find original stock rom?

I told you your device will return as it was in the day you got it in so you don't have to ask about every single detail. Yes, you will start receiving OTA updates once you unroot.
As for the stock rom, you can get it from here or here. Just enter your device name in the search box and select the firmware to download. It's about 3.14 GB in size by the way.
