[Q] No Service. Baseband: Unknown, No IMEI

I have been running a rooted samsung infuse with various roms for the past 6 months. I went to flash the latest modem this morning and when my phone came back on I had no service. At that time I was running CM7 and updating to the KK4 modem.
As I have worked through this problem I have returned to stock via ultimate unbrick. I have searched all over, but cant seem to find a solution.
Details:
Samsung Infuse running Stock 2.2.1
Problem:
No Service
No IMEI - reads null/null
About says: Baseband Version: Unknown
after doing several hours of research and trying various things I have not been able to find a solution.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I am not so sure if KK4 would work on 2.2. It is a GB modem.
And flashing back to stock overwrites modem and kernel and all back to stock, except formatting internal SD.
It appears I may have some backups of my nv_data files under:
/efs/root/afs/settings/
with the following files:
.nv_data.bak
.nv_data.bin
.nv_data.md5
can someone tell me if these are backup files and if I just need to move them into some other directory?
What directory does the phone read the normal nv_data files from?
Thanks
If you have a backup of your efs folder why not just try putting it where it would usually go?
well the easy fix that adam outler said would be to delete the efs folder all together and you will get a generic imei number but i never tried that. somehow you wound up with corrupt files in the efs partition. but if you have backups you can try to copy them over the originals.
you can also dd the efs partition and tell it to ignore bad blocks with
dd if=/dev/block/stl3 of=efs.img conv=noerror
this will make a backup of whatever is still good for a last ditch effort to recover what ever files you can.
my guess is that you played with an aosp rom. i believe that converts /efs to ext4 since rfs is closed source. i dont know how our aosp kernels work, since it is all unofficial lb may have had a different way to do it. but im guessing the conversion either corrupted the partition or that the kenrel you have cant read ext4. you might just need to install a voodoo kernel for the phone to be able to mount it. im not really sure.

This was a long time ago. But I believe the solution was exactly what was said above. Delete the EFS folder and have it recreate your IMEI. You should also check to make sure you have a phone compatible modem. Check your modem and reflash another one if that's where the problem could have come from.
Almost same Problem
Even I have the same problem, but with a slight plus point
Sometimes, I get the network, but after a while,it's gone .
If I'm on a call (when I luckily get network) , it gets disconnected within a minute or two .. and in a minute ,I get back the signals (nd sometimes,it takes hours to get back the network)
What could the problem possibly be ??
Is there anyone on the forum to help me out ??
Thanks.
P.S : There is no fault with the Sim,I have tried multiple SIMs , the problem remains same throughout .

[Q] Help Soft bricked phone

I have a Nexus s 4g with TWRP v1.1.1 I can still go into recovery mode and enable USB toggle. I believe I flashed a bad ROM and now the phone gets stuck on the "google lockpad" screen. Is there anything i can do to make my phone work again? Please be gentle. I know, Im a noob.
Download a full ROM (official OTA sticky in general) and copy it to your SDCard. Now go into twrp (i havn't used it so maybe the options are slightly different) and do a data/factory reset from recovery as well as wipe /system and /boot if possible. Now just flash the new ROM and you should be fine
Thank you so much!!! Trying now!!
Is there a specific ROM that I should download?
Ok. That didnt work. Any other tips that I can try before I stomp this thing out? My phone still goes to the "google Padlock" Screen and stays there. Could it possibly be the kernel?
Try using CWM recovery and flash full OTA for NS4G.
Thank you so much suksit!!!!! I also went to wiki.cyanogenmod.com This was a life saver!!!!! This gude will help anyone who has the problem that I did!!!

[Q] Can't mount sdcard and bricks

Hi guys, I'm fckland and I'm relatively new here since I never write but I always come here when I need something
This time I come here with a doubt. I got the motorola xt1032 and it's awesome, I have unlocked the bootloader and rooted it and installed CWM to flash some ROM's, but they didn't worked and bricked my phone, so I had to install google play edition by fastboot (following this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2542219 ) and now when I hit "install zip from sdcard" it says: e:\ can't mount sdcard
I want to access that option to install the faux kernel to test it but i can't. What can I do to fix it? I have searched and I didn't find nothin specific for the motorola moto G.
While I was writing this, I installed the TWRP and it worked! I had access to the internal memory without any issue!
BUT I HAD AN ISSUE
I installed the faux kernel with the OC to 1.6GHz and it bricked the OS (google play edition) (stuck at bootanimation), I installed the other version, the non OC and it bricked too and I had to do the tutorial once again since i didn't do a backup
And my second question is... Why this moto g doesn't accept most ROM's and kernels? I have tried with ROM: Carbon, AOSP, MOKEE and none worked and Kernels: faux version u and m and none worked, all of them bricked my phone.
If you need details of the version of my phone or something please ask for it and I'll upload it.
Thank you very much.
Nobody? I need to know at least why I can't install ROM's without having lots of issues.
Post details.
Please post details of which recovery you are using to flash ROMs, which kernel you are on and lastly which ROM works fine and which doesn't.
I, personally think you might had been on philz recovery and issue is not only which /sdcard but with /data.
Post the required info and I'll get back to you.
Problem solved!
I don't know what the problem was, but I think that I wasn't formating well after installing ROM's.
I have installed CM11 minutes ago and it works really nice (with wifi, I didn't try 3G yet) but I have a stock kernell and I would love to install faux or pink kernell, how do I have to do exactly to install one of them? And what can I do if i get bootloop?
Thank you!
Stick with the original kernel.

It's nice that your problem is resolved. And for the kernel as far as I know faux and pink support only stock ROM, no support for CM11 yet. You can search the thread for any other kernel but I would recommend to stick to default kernel now. Moto G is still under huge development, have patience. Soon we'll have a lot of them.
Regarding bootloops, take care that before installing any Rom you format /system along with wipe cache and data. Mount them again and then flash the rom.If any other help needed then post it.
P.S. No need to say Thanks press Thank you instead.

[Q] Need some help

Hi there guys,
I was bored one day and decided to bring some life back into my xoom. So I just stumbled upon this rom "[ROM][4.4.4] OmniROM - Wingray - bigPart" and decided to flash it.
Upon following all the instructions carefully and precisely, I tried to boot into the rom. However it didn't boot at all. So then I followed instructions as to get back into my original rom which is "EOS-wingray-3.0" (Most stable rom ever by the way".
The instructions were rather simple, I think. Flash your original recovery, which for me was "recovery-clockword-touch-6.0.2.7-wingray-signed.zip". I flashed it and tried to flash my EOS-wingray-3.0.zip, but it didn't boot.
So here I am stuck with no rom booting on my XOOM. My question is, how do I get a rom to boot on my XOOM again.
With regards,
Beston94
PS: When I try to wipe data/factory reset, and I get this:
"-- Wiping Data...
Formatting /data....
Error mounting /data!
Skipping format
Formatting /cache
Formatting /sd-ext
Formatting /sdcard /.android_secure...
Error mounting /sdcard/.android_secure
Skipping format...
Data wipe complete.

Hi Beston,
I was possibly the one who gave you the instructions for installing the Omnirom Wingray Android 4.4.4 Rom.
I hope that you didn't follow the instructions given in the first post there.Following those could get you into trouble because of the fact that both the version of GAPPS and the Supervisor software are very dated, and will leave you with an inability to get your Rom to work.
If you want to try this install again, I'll be happy to walk you through it. Honestly I just love the latest Omnirom 4.4.4 iteration (20140806). The only issue I might have with it is that you can't, as a norm, run program apps from the external sdcard.
If you'd like to try installing this again, I'd be happy to walk you through the installation.
In the meantime, going back to the Gingerbread Rom would,I believe, be a big mistake, and is a lot of work. Too, many of the newer apps would not work with it. I can, and will help you do this though if you'd like.
Blessings,
Rob

Hi there rob,
Just to clarify the EOS 3.0 rom isn't a gingerbread rom. I believe it's a jelly bean rom. Anyway thank you so much for replying. However, I somehow managed to fix it just this morning .
But I would love to get my XOOM to 4.4.4. I'm sure the speed of the device is improved beyond recognition. (Hopefully). And the applications not being able to run on the external sd card is not a problem for me, as I've got the 32gb version and I don't really play that many games.
So what I'm saying is, I'd really appreciate you walking me through the instructions to correctly install the 4.4.4 Omni rom.
With regards,

I'm sorry, you're right. The Android 3.0 Rom is a Honeycomb Rom. 4.0 is ICS, 4.1.2. became Jelly Bean, and 4.4 is Kit Kat. I'm on my way to serve at my Church all day today, but I'll get back with you on Monday.
Blessings,
Rob

Hi, and welcome to XDA!
My guess is that the custom ROM decided to go haywire. You could do a factory reset (I have a guide in my signature link - follow "Something" - on how to reset with custom ROM, which includes reflashing GApps), that may solve the issue, but you will lose your app settings in the process (just be sure to do a backup while in recovery before wiping anything).
If that doesn't work, try a different ROM. This device has dozens, with a couple fairly recent (read: Kitkat) offerings. You can find them in the Development section.
If still no go, you may have a hardware issue, and our support would sadly be out of scope.
Let me know if you need clarification on any of this, I am happy to help out here, if you are willing to get your hands dirty. Also, feel free to browse/search this forum (and development) for any other questions you may have as well (replies can take a while ).
Hope this helps.

Thanks your quick reply.
It is hard work
I try flashing other rooms (with full wipes):
- Baked 6: wifi not switching
- CM 9+lewa: no wifi
- Milestone 6: no wifi
- KK: install aborted
- Mik touch: freeze during reboot
- Baked 8: flash is okay but: Unfortunaetly, the process com.android.phone has stopped. System UI has stopped.
I think how the ext/sd card is wrong or injured.
I don’t open system settings/ storage: Unfortunaetly, setting has stopped.
I try send data with bluetools, the answer is: no sd card
The micro SD card its okay, I tested and formatting.
Maybe go return to basic rom ???

If you can, try the stock ROM. Download the PG159IMG.zip file (or whatever it is called, rename it to PG159IMG.zip on your MicroSD, and let the bootloader do it's thing).
Interesting that MikTouch failed, but looks like you are having difficulties with a few ROMs that should otherwise install and start no problem.
Another ROM to try first (if your SD slot can handle it - since that's what it sounds like) is TBalden's CM10.1. That would be the one I have had the best of luck with.
All the best
