[Q] Best way to factory reset? - Verizon HTC One (M8)

So I've been having this weird popping cracking sound in the speakers with Netflix and play movies and whatnot, assumed it was hardware defective. Just today it really got to me so I put on some headphones and it has the same annoying sounds / lag in the videos. I figure it's software so I'm going to reset. I've never actually factory reset a phone w/o using a custom recovery so my question is how do I go about doing this? Do I use the backup and reset option in settings?
Thanks in advance

[Q] Music player and youtube app problems

So I've had this Captivate for a little while now and have enjoyed it more than my iPhone 3GS, but after I upgraded to 2.2, I have had nothing but problems that is causing me to hate this phone.
My music player doesn't work. I can open it and play one song, but after that, it becomes unresponsive. If I want to listen to another song, I have to open task manager, end the music player and start over again. This happens every time.
The same thing with youtube. I can watch one video, then it becomes unresponsive. I have to end it with task manager and start again.
The phone is also incredibly laggy, worse than most Windows 95 machines I've used. It also freezes regularly and the only way to fix it is to pull the battery.
Other than flashing to a custom ROM, is there anything I can do to fix this?

Sorry, I forgot to say I did that already, and nothing changed at all. Do you think it would be worthwhile to do it again?
what hard reset method did you use? is your cappy used custom rom b4?

Those kind of problems sound like a bad update/flash. I would Odin back to stock, master clear and start over.
Thanks for the help. It's fixed now. It was a bad upgrade to 2.2. I once again love this phone.

ringtones and notifications dont sound.

My phone is stock with just root, but the issue is ringtones or notification sound cant be heard on the phone. I can talk and text regularly. Its just ringtines and notification sounds i cant hear. Is there a fix? Phones did have Icbinb rom, then i odined back to a stock thinking it would fix. But no luck. Sounds still dont play. Thanks.

When you look in the settings, do you have different ringtones and notifications sounds listed as options, or do you only see 'silent'?

yes. in the ringtones and in the notifications, it has all the sounds there. just when i select the sound to preview it, no sound. The phone volume is up. so i know there should be sound. Also the vibrate works. so when a call comes in the phone cal still vibrate. thats how i know im getting a call. And I can use the phone as regular.
Airplane mode maybe? I don't know...sounds like your notification volume is all the way down in your sound / volume settings, but you probably already checked that.

Yeah, I don't like it when things are quirky, either. Have you tried doing a factory data reset?
I was watching a you tube video and the sound became choppy. I thought it was a bad video, so I went to another. I had no sound. Started checking things on my phone, and nothing. I rebooted, reflashed my rom, flashed back to stock, and nothing still... SOUNDS ARE GONE. Volume is turned all the way up. I am running beautiful sgs4g (GB 2.3.5). I flashed to the new official 2.3.6. I also did a factory restore, and wiped data/dalvik cache in the process of doing all this. Is there any fix for this?

Out of curiosity, do you hear sounds if you use headphones?
It might be the external speaker. I was listening to music cause I didn't have earbuds with me. Sound started to crackle and break up. I figured music player was malfunctioning. After some troubleshooting, called T-Mobile. Apparently it is a known hardware issue and covered by warranty. I don't have insurance on my phone, they replaced it for a $25 fee.

Yes I do actually. Good idea to test. Thanks. But, I already contacted samsung and it will be on it's way to Plano TX this afternoon for a free repair (still under warranty).

Why did they charge you $25? If it is a known hardware issue and covered under warranty, they should have just sent it in and had it fixed for free, or you should've contact samsung directly, and the repair would have been free.
Yeah, but I'm a schmuck.... FML.

Was it a new phone out of the box from amazon?
Mine too. Didn't have this problem when I first picked up the phone but after a soft brick, I started receiving the camera failed error.

UPDATE: after completely draining the battery and fully charging the phone the camera started to work again. Not too sure if that'll fix your problem but it's worth a shot.

[Q] Phone is frozen, Nova Problem?

Good morning everyone...
Hope all is well..
My cousin's S3 is unrooted. Yesterday he said it froze up on him... No buttons work, however, if you take the battery out and put it back in, the phone will power back up, comes all the way on up to the home screen, but nothing works, no buttons, no reaction from touching the screen or anything.
Verizon is blaming it on Nova.
I know better, Nova is flawless in my opinion.
Anyone experienced this problem? know of any fixes?

There may be an option in recovery to get to download mode, from there he can Odin back to stock.
Buttons not working doesn't sound like a problem a rom can cause. Did it get wet, fall? Did it start to update and it was interrupted? Curious.

Stock recovery should be able to perform a factory reset. Try that and if it doesn't work read up on Odin to go back completely to stock. If that fails you are likely looking at hardware failure. My guess is the factory reset will fix it for you.
I'd try to go into stock recovery by pressing power, home and volume up buttons....wipe davlick cache

Galaxy S6 going beserk..what is going on (VIDEO)

So last night my phone just went crazy. My wifi turns off, the sound modes go psycho, and bluetooth just goes on and off so very fast (as you can see in the video). At first I thought someone was hacking my phone, but it might be a software bug or something. Anyone know whats wrong?

Or are you on a group text? My phone acts like that when I get off a plane and all of my messages are coming through.

Might be a wayward app. Try full reset as suggested. Of it recurs then it may be a factory defect.
Factory reset should fix the issue

looks like a broken/hanging volume key
