[Q] Gpe Otg, coming back to non gpe on linux. - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello to all ! ( and sorry for my english ..)
I just buy a French Second hand moto g which i'm very happy with ... nevertheless the precedent owner installed the GPE edition quite easily.
Nevertheless this version doesn't support OTG (Usb on the go, so as to connect usb key), EAP-SIM( my internet provider propose SIM that connect automaticallt the phone in the Wifi of it's network) or more important for me .. the radio.
This is why i was wondering if those... differences were going to be soon be changed or not envisaged.
In the second option, how to come back to a non-GPe edition, or if i had interest to install Cyangemod 11 ?
All the guide for installing the non gpe installation tell to install a retail us version, will it have an impact from the french version ? And since i'm on linux, moto tools isn't working very well even with wine or cross over !
I know i have many questions but haven't found many interesting things that could help me. Thanks a lot .

[Q] US Xoom with Euro language support ?

Hi everybody,
New to Xoom (but not to Android), so may be a n00b question
I bought a WiFi Xoom in US last week and it updated automaticaly via OTA to 3.1.
Problem, there is no support for French (France), only for French (Canadian) wich is slightly different (i.e keyboard is QWERTY and I would like AZERTY).
Is there a way to push "French" language support in my Xoom ? (Like CSC on Galaxy S). If not can I flash EURO Motorola Roms to my US Xoom ?
It's not rooted, not unlocked (not yet, still reading forum to see if it's safe )...
Thanks
Search for language pack, it's posted in apps section.
For information, I finally decided to flash stock Motorola Europe rom (after being stuck on Motorola logo when trying to root it).
So now I have a European 3.0.1 Xoom with all languages support instead of a US 3.1 (not really happy with that…).
If you want to get back to US 3.1 and install the language pack, follow this guide.

Remember, DO NOT RELOCK!
Thanks burden010 !
Hum... noob question, I've already relock it (with stock rom, I follow motorola dev instructions), was it a bad idea ?!?!
No it's OK, the "don't relock instruction" is to prevent a possible half-brick. If you're going to follow that guide, do not relock or it COULD cause problems, doesn't mean it will.

[Completed] [Q] Moto X Display Languages

Hi All,
Essentially, I had bought the Moto X T-Mobile & Unlocked sim-cards as a gift for my wife. Unfortunately, I found that the Moto X T-mobile comes with only 4 languages installed. So, Arabic is not one of them for system display language. My wife doesn't speak English and she only speaks Arabic. I would really appreciate if you can help us to add more languages to the phone without rooting the phone?
The UK Android version has Arabic, How can we get UK version install to the phone.
Thanks
Hi there!
I'm afraid the only way to add languages to the system would be by unlocking bootloader (which voids your warranty) then rooting and installing a custom ROM that has support for Arabic....if any do.
You can browse the dev section found in the moto x section, here...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x?nocache=1&z=9703952672425658
See if any ROMs in the dev section list Arabic as a language. Or you can post your question in the Q&A section.
But unless you root.....there's no way to do it. And the custom ROM would need to support the language as well.
Good luck! ?
You should have no issue flashing the UK firmware....so long as the firmware is for the same model.... As in xt10xx model number.
If you do encounter issues....you can always flash the same firmware you are on now again. So be sure what you have now.
Here is a thread to help with that...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2446515
Also note: very important.....if you ate on 4.4.2 or 4.4.3, DO NOT downgrade lower than 4.4.2....you could brick your device. Just keep that in mind now and in the future.

[Q] Mbm-ci of moto g lte 4.4.3

Good friends, first of all, forgive me if I'm posting bad but this is my first post ... I come to this great community for assistance to large developers that there are here.
My problem is this ... I have the bootloader bricked my Moto G LTE (XT1040), I found several statutes and have come to some extent in them that is when flash the bootloader (I've done with motoflasher and other files I have found, but it does not work), then the problem would come to be with the MBM-CI; I've found are for those who had android 4.3, 4.4.2 and 4.4.4.
And I had was the version 4.4.3 which none of these bootloaders grabs me and anything I find the MBM-IC 4.4.3.
Then I want to know who would be the one to save me from this by removing the MBM-CI of the flash 4.4.3 ... Or explain to me how to get that file from the flash.
Praise to facilitate it, I took 3 days without phone and what worries me more is that where I live not where to fix this kind of damage.
I beg ayudenme are 40,000 bs away (Here in Venezuela is a lot of money that and more for someone my age)
Eternally grateful to that I kick this

[Q] Pls Help rooting/flashing/new ROM Moto G (2013) XT1033

Hey there!!
I'm a newbie, would appreciate your help very much. Long ago I had rooted my Milestone 2 and installed a Cyanogen. But that was long ago and now I'm overwhelmed with so much information on this forum.
I've got a Moto G (2013), Dual Sim XT1033, bought in Brazil.
Update to Lollipop 5.0 has been one of the worst decisions, it works VERY badly now.
I wanted to get a new ROM. (Cyanogen 12? but I saw on their webpage my device is not supported, it also gave me that message when I tried to install thei apk)
It can be that or another popular one. The thing is that I dont know how to do it, and FAQs and walkthroughs assume I know a lot of concepts which I dont (like the difference between rooting and flashing my device) and procedures I am not aqcuainted with.
Please, has anyone got a starting guide? About flashing/rooting (?) my motoG and how to install (and which do you recommend?) the rom without much technical vocab..
Thanks a lot in advance!!!

Moto G- first you have to unlock the bootloader then root your phone then flash a custom recovery then you can flash a rom of your choice ( i recommend the stock optimized lollipop, has great battery life :good: - forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g/development/rom-stock-motorola-lollipop-rom-t3017510
Does steps for unlocking bootloader and rooting is same even after updating to 5.0.2, I mean same as steps that are available for moto G android 4.4.2 ?
I have moto G (1st Gen) bought in India updated to 5.0.2
Thanks in advance

Moto G 2nd edition ROMS?

Hi all, one of my first posts here. I bought a Moto G 2nd (Brazilian) Edition recently, but I want to wipe the OS and put on the latest GB iteration on it. Any idea where I can find the stock ROMS for the Moto G 2nd edition? And what's the latest (best) way to root the Moto G 2nd edition? Sorry if these are rather fundamental questions but I'm a bit out of the loop with all this stuff.
TIA
Ok, so I've managed to find the stock ROMs. But I'm a bit confused about a few things:
1. I know downgrading can be a big no no, but what about flashing a ROM that is the same version? All I really want to do is replace the BR (Brazilian version) with the GB (Great Britain) version of firmware, is this easily achieved?
2. What's the best way to flash the moto? I always see a myriad of ways of flashing, either with CMD scripts or sometimes ready-to-use apps...just wondering whether or not there is a "standard go-to" way of flashing the moto?
Thanks in advance!
