[Q] Bypassing lock screen password by rooting - Galaxy Note 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all a friend dropped her Galaxy Note 10.1 into me yesterday to see if I could help retrieve her password. I tried entering the password wrong so many times to see if forgot password comes up but nothing. She obviously skipped registering with google. She has photos on it that she wants off it. I told her she would lose everything if I reset it and it might be her only option. Can I root it or install Cwm on it or some custom recovery to bypass the password or does it need USB debugging to be turned on which I very much doubt is turned on unless she hit it by mistake !! I came across these methods maybe method 3 might work ? Not sure.
Method 3 (new):
It’s a quite simple method than the other two. By using this method you can crack / unlock both, pattern lock as well as pin / password lock. But before you use this method, your device must have a custom recovery like CWM installed on it. Note that you may also require to root your device just in case if it doesn’t work by having CWM only (it’s a far rare case though). It should work with CWM Recovery alone.
So, lets get started: firstly download a Lockscreen bypass file from the link given below:
Pattern / Password Bypass for Android
Copy the downloaded zip file on your device’s internal / external memory by any means.
Now, boot into recovery mode on your phone / tab. Note that, each device has a different method (key combinations) to get into recovery mode. If you don’t know how to boot into recovery, you can Google it or ask us in comments below (include your device model along with the comment).
After getting into recovery, select install zip from sdcard followed by choose zip from sdcard. Navigate to the file you’ve just transferred on your phone. Hit Power button to select the file and confirm the installation by selecting ‘Yes – Install LockScreen_Security_bypass.zip’.
As soon as installation gets completed, select ‘reboot system now’ to restart the phone.
Once the phone gets rebooted, you’ll see that the pattern / password lock is still there. But don’t panic, just enter any pattern / password and it will get unlocked by itself.
Thanks to XDA Recognized Contributor dr.ketan for this awesome script. You can find his original thread here.
That’s it! You’ve successfully unlocked / cracked the pattern lock of your Android device. Do let us know if you face any difficulty while unlocking the pattern lock. We’ll be more than happy to help you out.

Nobody able to help me before I have to factory reset it any help would be appreciated :good:

Hi.

No problem thanks for the reply. Looks like I'll have to reset it so.

If you can connect with adb from recovery you could snag the files from there. If your on stock recover it can be done but I'm not sure how. Cwm has the option to mount usb

[Q] A CHallenge for Developers (partial brick) Please Help

[SOLVED]
MESSAGE TO DEVELOPERS/ANYONE WHO CAN HELP
Long story short, i edited my build.prop incorrectly and reset (yes i know very stupid) now my motorola cliq opens up to the motoblur screen but repeated messages saying "Sorry! the process X has shut down" show up.
Literaly, nearly nothing can open up but i am able to enter usb mode if i fight with the endless popups. i can also enter recovery mode because my phone was rooted before this. The problem is that my recovery image doesnt have any options that could help me
(reboot, apply sd card:update.zip, and wipe data/factory reset)
i've tried putting an official motorola update.zip onto my sd card then running the apply.. but like i told you before my build.prop is messed up a little so an error shows up saying:
Installing update...
E/:Failure at line 1: assert file_contains("SYSTEM:build.prop", "ro.build.fingerprint=motorola/morrison_two_us/morrison/morrison:1.5/CUPCAKE/1.4.8:user/rel-keys" == "true" || file_contains("SYSTEM:build.prop", "ro.build.prop", "ro.build.fingerprint=MOTO/morrison_two_us/moInstallation aborted
Press Menu+Back to reboot
All i need to do is fix the line of code i messed up but i cant reach my systems files,...i attached my original build.prop and a copy of my corrupted one to show you.. I also cannot use the phone service or network service (even wifi) because like i said, nearly ALL the services are unable to stay on, they immediately shut off at startup.
Ways to fix this would be to REACH/EDIT THE SYSTEMS FILES
1. I cant use an app like root explorer since i cant access any apps on my phone even things like my settings
2. Turn on usb debugging somehow (I cant access my settings app so im lost on this one)
1. ingenious DESKTOP program that can somehow access my phone's system files without adb (if it can access the sd there has to be a way..)
3. Ive looked around to maybe find a custom image recovery that had options like editing system files (shouldn't be hard to make..) but ive found none with that option and im not sure how i would install it without adb...
What i CAN do
1. ENTER USB MODE (that has to count for something so Developers Please help me)
2. I can play with the motoblur intro screen to some degree to make it go away, then a blank black home menu appears. If i wait a while for the popups to stop at the motoblur screen, i follow the instructions but it gets stuck at registering a new account or existing one since you need network access.
3. ENTER REVOVERY MODE (but the only option that looks helpful is the sdcard update which gave me an error...) I havent tried the wipe data/factory reset because the factory reset doesnt touch the build.prop so its pointless
WHat should I do? WHoever sees this please give me advice or direct me somewhere to get it... THANK YOU
[EDIT]
BTW what i was trying to do on the build.prop was replace this line (ro.build.fingerprint=generic/sdk/generic:3.2/HTJ85B/140714:eng/test-keys)
with (ro.build.fingerprint=verizon/voles/sholes/sholes:2.1-update1/ESE81/29593:user/release-keys)
but i messd up and put
(ro.build.fingerprint=verizon/voles/sholes/sholes:2.1-update1/ESE81/29593:user/rel)
youll see this in the attachments...what this does is unlock my 1.5 firmware market to ALL the apps (updating to the official 2.1 using recovery wouldve handled this but i didnt even know of this update till after my mistake)
I just thought id mention...
if you have adb abilities you can push the old build.prop. If you do not know a out this then post back and I will help you.You said you can enter recovery, but that is stock original recovery that anyone can get access to. If you ever bootstrapped your phone you can try pull the battery out, wait about 10 seconds, then plug your phone charger in without the battery in. If your bootstrappped this will pull you into a more advanced recovery mode. The last option is to use rsd lite to flash an sbf to your phone if nothing else works. If you have never done this just look up sbfing motor cliq to stock.
Good luck, and remember to thank me if this helped
SOLVED!!
I fixed my phone on my own but THANKS to rootfan for being the first to answer.
HERES HOW:
I was able to access recovery mode and from there i discovered the sd update option.
It took hours of research and work but i learned alot about adb, motorola, cliq, etc.
Anyway, i originally found the Blur_Version.2.1.5.MB200.T-Mobile.en.US.zip and i tried to put that in my sd card (i could get into it from the phone) but when i tried to update using recovery it gave me an error so i decided to try the "latest 1.5 with Blur 1.6.1" which was actually very hard to find... you can get it here
motorola. com/staticfiles/Support/Experiences/sdcards/US-EN/tmo/cliq/downgrade-to-cupcake .html
Lastly, i put that on my sd as update.zip, went into recover, and the update was SUCCESSFUL! MY PHONE REBOOTED AND NOW IS ACTING NORMAL AGAIN. Now, im trying to update to the Android™ 2.1 (Eclair):
motorola. com/staticfiles/Support/Experiences/sdcards/US-EN/tmo/cliq/2-1_index. html
but im still getting that error whether i update using recovery or the settings/about phone/system update option... Thats strange but my phone is still working normally and ill find a way to update to 2.1...
ONCE AGAIN THANKS TO ROOTFAN AND HOPEFULLY THIS POST WILL WORK FOR SOMEONE ELSE WHO MAY BE HALF-BRICKED (no adb, no usb debug, no root explorer) THERS STILL HOPE IN RECOVERY+USB DRIVE+BLUR VERSION SOFTWARES
Thanks man, now this is probabaly a redicilous reply, since im sure you would have already tried this, but you can try going into settings, about phone, and click on update and see if the 2.1 eclair ota update will work on your phone.

Problems on rooting, USA wifi only xoom.

Hello, i am trying to root and install CWM in my xoom since yesterday without success.
I was doing the bootloader steps and things for root the xoom with the comands and i installed a super user app.
Now i want to install a CWM and flash tiamat rom but my problem is that in my recovery i dont see any sdcard for install, only USB and i try to install it with a USB drive but it wont install, it says error.
With the bootloader comands and the image it dont work, it says: cannot load recovery-tiamat-R4c... etc.
How can i change my rom and my cwm then?
Now, in my xoom i have Super User app and an old recovery without "install from sd card"
Also, if i wipe my xoom because wifi is not working, it restores with the super user app and wifi still not working.
After a lot of hours trying to solve my issues with the xoom and dont find any answer in internet or nice usefull guide to follow nowdays in november (not outdated links etc) i tried to lock again the xoom (fastboot oem lock) and now i have a very beautiful bricked and useless 500 euro gadget.
Failed image LNX 0x0002
I tried to find a fix for this brick and i dont find any answer in google, only something about a factory cable but i dont know what it means. Thx for your time
This is fixable. I have had this happen to me before. What you have to do is force your xoom to turn off by holding the power button and vol+ at the same time. This will reboot your device. Now before your device turns back on hold the power and vol-. It should now say starting fastboot protocol support. Send the command fastboot OEM unlock to the device. If all goes well you should get the menu for unlocking your device. Proceed to unlock and you should no longer have a bricked xoom If this does not work then please report back. I can help you further. Also , if this does work then report back and I can help you root the xoom.
Just rest easy I promise it is fixable
I don't know what guide you were using but this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1249798 shouldn't have outdated links...I just fixed several of them.
Good luck.

Need help rooting a RCA Voyager Pro RCT6773W42B tablet

Is there an easy way to root this tablet?
The tablet is a RCA Voyager Pro. Model number is RCT6773W42B. It's running Android 5.0.1 Lollipop. Build number is RCT6773W42B-ANDROID5.0-V 19-V1.12.50-KC-B.
I want to root it so I can use the WWE App (No luck with Google Play or 1Mobile or Aptoide). I would so like to use some videogame roms also if possible. That's what I mostly would like to do. Nothing much else. I am not too computer savvy but I do know the basics. So anything that would be pretty easy/simple would be awesome.
Looking for root also. Tried everything to no avail. Hopefully something comes out soon.

Wondershare MobileGo. Free trial, but it works. Download it to pc and connect tab. It will install a "connector" app on the tab, then hit the "one click root" button and let it reboot the tab 3 or 4 times. It may stick on the dog splash screen for a while but don't panic. I did at first, but when it came back up it had root.
Don't use wonder share!!!
This tablet is not root capable out of the box, the reason for this is that the boot loader is locked which prevents any kind of modification of firmware as well as root. Now, I have not unlocked my boot loader yet on mine so I can't tell you if unlocking will allow installation of root but to unlock the boot loader first, read all instructions before attempting and I'm not responsible if your device bricks!
1. Turn device off
2. Hold volume up key then hold power key
3. Let go of power key once it starts booting but continue holding power up key until you in the recovery menu
4. You will see option to reboot to boot loader, navigate to it using volume key then select it using power key
5. You should see fastboot in the corner, now you need android SDK tools and adb ect. Which if you don't have you can google it.
6. Open command prompt from the sdk/adb folder by holding shift, right click, open command prompt.
7. Type adb devices to make sure your device is connected. If not make sure you install correct drivers for this tablet.
8. If everything is good continue by typing "fastboot oem unlock" without quotes it should pop up a screen on the device asking to unlock boot loader or it will automatically unlock it. Now you can try different programs like kingroot or manually install root with command prompt.
I can not confirm this will work as I have not had time to unlock mine yet. And again I'm not responsible for anything that may happen to your device bricked ect

You're not going to be able to unlock it.. there's another thread on this and it's got nothing to do with any human.
Bootloader is locked. Gotta try other stuff. I've had this for months and it's a piece of junk.. frankly, to me, anyway.. it's worthless without root privileges.

... nope. Still no root. Even said "root failed" .. I'm just gonna see if anything else is updated. I've had this tablet for a couple of months thinking there'd at least be a few exploits to use but there's almost zip that I've been able to see. and I'm not the only one that can't unlock the bootloader with fastboot. Not sure what else to think at this point.. but this was a waste of time.
So why is the boot loader non-unlockable?

I wouldn't make up a story if it had not rooted. Yes it said "root failed" the first few cycles of rebooting, but after several cycles it rooted. Now... if Wondershare is malware, this may be related... a week or so later the touch screen developed two rectangular "dead" spots that no amount of factory resetting could fix. I could not even type wifi password without rotating it in circles to avoid the dead spots. If you want a decent tablet for under 100, spend 30 more and get the Nextbook Ares 8. Very hard to root as well, but TWRP did the trick.
Wish i could root mine. RCA voyager pro 16gb. Is this bootloader just so hard to crack its not worth it? Or is the device really that crappy that no one wants to bother? I've tried unlocking it manually with adb and i cant select the yes option. Why the hell not? The no option works just great, clicking yes does not a thing. Hitting power after or not. No option for bootloader unlock in the settings. Yes i don't know where to even start when trying to figure it out myself. Justdont think the thing is so worthless it cant be done. I haven't had any issues with it at all, other than not being able to unlock it.

That's exactly why I said you cannot unlock the boot loader.. that's the only way to do it unless you use some dev's app around here that types the same command and tries no matter what.
Regarding it being rooted.. I've been trying for months now.. I'm actually trying again after giving up for a lil' bit.. SRSRoot said they picked it up but that just says it roots and then reboots.. and I see no sign of superuser/supersu or any sort of system apk to manage it, even if the damn app says "unmounting /system" and "remounting /system, rebooting.. Root success!" ... yeah even after that, I saw nothing when it booted back up. Tried Kingo only God knows how many times.. even tried other little exploits, tried to manually root it but unless you have r/w access to /system, which a custom recovery can give.. it won't happen unless someone literally takes what's on the RCA and they more or less just have a pre-rooted stock rom to start.. 5.0.1, whichever.. I haven't done any updates and I'm not gonna try. I'm gonna going to try and cycle through six-seven more times before I just eventually give up. I'm sure something will come along eventually, but right now I'm not getting ****, and not being able to unlock the boot loader isn't much of a help. I can't even load MTK Droid Tools with this, yet, it's got the same 8127 chipset as a rooted Lenovo that I have (running KitKat 4.4.2) .. i was able to install PhilZ with that.. but the boot loader is still locked.. I didn't even try to unlock it.. it's just like how FlashFire operates.. stay in Android but mount only what needs to be mounted.
If anyone see's something that really does root this thing or has a damn /system partition that they can friggin' send to someone (I'd be happy to at least try) to wipe everything and install a custom rom.. I don't know. I'd rather just manually root and then have this as a backup. This is what makes me regret grabbing some RCA even if it was 40 bucks with a keyboard. Useless without superuser permissions.

Oh, and um.. Wondershare just adds a service.. at least under Windows 7 x64.. it's easy to remove so I'm not really worried and.. honestly.. I don't see a correlation between dead pixels and software unless it's immediate impact.

Still no dice with Wondershare, but it does do exactly as you said.. I'm wondering if you were thinking of the correct model and OS. This specific model never had KitKat (4.4.x) for it.. it's 5.0.1 only. Some people mistake this model for the other one with the same NAME but one different thing.. at the end of the model number, the ones that have actually a possibility of being rooted... they have a 22 at the end.
this is a 42. 42B. Now if he has that, then me trying this for the 12th time might have a shot at working. I might just do a factory reset.. like... as it was out of box.. aside from enabling USB debugging mode. I might try a few different drivers as well. It just fails and fails and fails and you know what it suggests to "manually" root? It recommends SuperOneClick which is no longer even used unless you have a really old device..
lol. I'll update you guys if I somehow find something. I'll try all the one-click tools a try but SuperOneClick? I actually have that in my archive but.. I don't really think it's necessary nowadays. If only I could get this damn boot loader unlocked.. I mean there's no way that they'll send anything anyway.. I'll try using MTK Droid Tools due to it having an MT8127 chipset.. every time it just says it can't load adb.. makes no sense to me. I have it installed system-wide with Environment Variables..
I know this thing can be rooted.. it's just gonna take longer, probably a year or more.. mostly because no one even gives a ****. I think it's pretty good if I just had the su binary in /system actually there, even temporarily.. I could easily make it permanent if we have even a glimmer of it for just a few minutes.. that's all I'd need. I'm not a dev but I know my way if I'm given at least SOME time.. Just run an sudaemon and what happens is you can actually remove what's considered "root" regarding the app.. this is actually well-instructed in a post that has to do with removing KingRoot and putting SuperSU on it to replace it. .. and I'm not talking about SuperSUme.. I mean it takes a little bit of knowledge... but not that much.

For the record.. Most don't care about a 30 dollar device with a damn keyboard unless they're literally sitting at a Command Line or using ADB for transfers etc instead of copy/paste. The reason that KitKat/4.4 works here is simple.. It doesn't have any way to patch PIE unless you're rooted already or if you've somehow got your tablet looked at as another device for unlocking the boot loader.. and I do remember, one time, I saw this first install the driver for an HTC One..
it's just an idea.. I'm not responsible if you **** anything up for your tablet. If you don't need root, then just don't worry about it or keep using stuff. PIE just stands for Position Integrated Executable.. and the error it gives every single 5.0+ tablet that has barely anybody looking at it.. well, that's why they're not working.. it literally gives the message when you attempt to root it manually.. "error: only position independent executables (PIE) are supported." ... now there are plenty of threads on here with this and ways to "bypass" it.. hell they even have something called "patch-pie" to flash in a custom recovery.. not the manufacturer. So if you somehow unlock the boot loader and you know what to put on it.. Then you're in. That's usually what happens here.. the methods are fine, they all work, it's just some firmware isn't ever really looked at with brands that have barely any purpose. Most of these types of tablets run 4.4.x on there and that gives them no errors... so it's really easy to root it if you get past it. I've seen it in SRS root right before my eyes and even doing so when trying other things not root-related in adb. Fix that and you'll be able to do it.
Disclaimer: If anything happens to any of your devices as a result of anything in this entire thread, post, or even the links from this entire thread and entire post.. doesn't fall on me, not my fault. If your wife or side girlfriend decides unlocking the boot loader with a hammer, I'm very sorry, but it is not of my doing. This is all for testing purposes. That being said.. I don't see how you screw this up. Don't try to unlock the bootloader, by the way. It's not happening.
The latest KingRoot works. I did a Factory reset prior, I had no clue it'd actually work. just.. clear cache and dalvik basically, install this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/devdb/project/dl/?id=18893
xda approved obviously... after that, either use Super-SUME or the following guide to remove and replace KingRoot. It's originally made for some Amazon Fire phone but the whole thing is perfect to replace KingRoot and furthermore the correct binaries; At times it'll say it's an incorrect command or that something does not exist.. don't worry about it. It's Ancient but works just fine.. I did this just two days ago. Copy/Paste it line by line, not all at once... or make a script. up to you:

Bootloader unlocked, full systemless root attained by using Kingoroot PC Version, SuperSU Me Pro to replace the Chinese binaries with proper SuperSU binaries. SuperSU 2.79-R3 installed on Android 6.0.1 Stock ROM. Bootloader is not encrypted. Only requires OEM Unlocking enabled in Developer options, connected to PC with micro USB syncing cable, rebooted into AP Fastboot Mode. Minimal ADB & Fastboot needs to be installed on PC (or the full Android SDK). Open a command prompt in the adb/Fastboot directory if using minimal adb & fastboot and simply type fastboot oem unlock and watch tablet screen for a prompt using the Volume buttons. Contrary to earlier statements this tablet is fully root ready out of the box, and bootloader is definitely not encrypted. Currently working on a TWRP port for this device as well as a deodexed and debloated stock ROM preinjected with root binaries, and optional insecure boot.img with init'd support running stock.
What wonderful work! And many thanks for your efforts. Do you think that your instructions and future ROMs would work with the RCT6873W42KC?

Well, my objective is to modify a stock ROM that can be flashed on any RCA Voyager 7" variant running either Lollipop or Marshmallow. This includes the Voyager, Voyager II and the Voyager Pro. I would like to be able to offer both 5.1 and 6.0.1 ROMs. As long as the filesystem does not in anyway forbid a downgrade in firmware or OS, users running Marshmallow Builds would be able -- with an unlocked bootloader of course -- to flash either a Lollipop or Marshmallow Deodexed, Rooted, & Debloated Stock ROM. A Lollipop OS would offer the advantage of a System-Based Root versus the Systemless method required on the 6.x.x Builds.

Root newbie

Hello,
Please help me. My samsung a8 updated to android 9 and the call recording is disabled. I need to root the phone, but help me please in the following questions:
1. Do i need custom rom?
2. Do i need custom kernel?
3. Will the android self update as now?
So what is the most importnt steps just to root the device?
In my whole life i paid for one software (callrecorder) which is not working now.
Unfortuently there is no clear tutorial to root this phone but you car read here: [GUIDE][17.06.2019] RMM/KG bypass - Root/Install TWRP on Exynos Samsung after 2018

1. Do i need custom rom?
no
2. Do i need custom kernel?
no
3. Will the android self update as now?
if you flashed TWRP, no
1. Do i need custom rom? No
2. Do i need custom kernel? No
3. Will the android self update as now? depend on your settings
1-to root it the first thing is to have OEM Unlock available and enabled in Dev Options
if not keep the device fully on and with data on dont restart, power off or reset for at least 7 days continuously (or a bit more) and you should have it
if it's not shown dot bother with the rest
2-to have Dev Menu available go to settings >> about phone >> software information >> on build number tape multiple times 10 times i guess, you will have a pop up confirmation
once back at settings menu you will find a new choice at the very bottom "Develper Options"
3-next step with to plug ur phone with PC with usb cable
after installing SAMSUNG DRIVERS & ODIN and downloading TWRP (custom recovery)
in ODIN 2nd tab, untick "AUTO REBOOT" VERY VERY IMPORTANT
chose the TWRP file using AP button/option in ODIN
put your phone in download MOD power off completely >> power back on while holding vol+ and vol- at the same time
flash the file using ODIN to your phone
4- now here is the tricky part
after fklashing TWRP if you reboot normaly you will be locked again and you wont have that OEM Unlock option i talked about and you will be stuck
so, after flashing TWRP, press vol- + power button to reboot the phone
AT THE VERY PRECISE MOMENT WHEN PHONE TURN OFF BEFORE POWERING BACK ON WHEN IT BLINK
RELEAS POWER BUTTON AND VOL+ and PRESS POWER BUTTON + VOL+ AGAIN VERY VERY QUICKLY
if successful you should boot into TWRP directly
5-once you are in TWRP wipe everything then format the device (ALL DATA WILL BE LOST)
of course you need to have the needed files already copied in the SD CARD
from twrp after the wipe and formatiing
go to install and flash in that order RMM_Bypass_v3_corsicanu or RMM-State_Bypass_Mesa_v2
then no-verity-opt-encrypt-6.0
then at the end flash Magisk-v19.3
once its done reboot the phone normally, you will have your phone working as normal
once you are in, install Magisk APK MagiskManager-v7.3.2
reboot again
and voilaaa, you should have root and everything shoul be functional for you
allthow of course I will not be responsible for any kind of software or hardware damage, and certainly not ressponsible for any data loss
as it is completely you responsibility
I would like to attach all the files mentioned above, to help better but dnt sems to find how
so you will have to download and gather them from previous posts
Thank you very much, but i have a question. You wrote this:
"4- now here is the tricky part
after fklashing TWRP if you reboot normaly you will be locked again and you wont have that OEM Unlock option i talked about and you will be stuck
so"
I this will happen what csn i do?
The most afraiding thing is to me about rooting if i get a brick.

its virtually impossible to brick samsung devices these days. Well, perma-brick that is. I have spent entire evenings after work bricking phones just so i could figure out what caused the brick and then fix it. the worst thing that would happen if the FRP lock gets enabled again is that youd have to go re-disable it.
i guess i didnt really explain that clearly after re-reading it. So, when he says "stuck" he means with TWRP installed and no method of rooting. The phone will boot normally in the situation described in point #4

SM-T860 Root (up to date instructions)

Can someone please post upto date instructions to root Galaxy Tab S6,
Please not just links to instructions for other devices as its not helping and confusing the crap out of me.
I follow the popular link and attempt to download magisk app but that page isn't clear and I don't know what version of magisk manager J should download.
I have tried one version, patched it, flashed it with odin but it fails at the end and doesn't 'pass'
Can someone please post what version of magisk manager to use and instructions for this device not galaxy tab 5se or whatever it is
Please, I beg you guys. Help me root this tablet, its driving me insane and I could almost ****ing cry.
Is it possible for someone to post a start to finish guide here that's upto date and all newcomers can follow? Please?
And please let this post stay admins and don't merge it to other posts that then link to methods written and intended for devices that are not a Samsung Galaxy Tab s6.
I beg you guys, let's make an idiot proof easy to follow relevant A to B complete walk through.
I'm sure many need what I'm requesting. Thank you.
Please
With the whole planet almost in lockdown and stuck indoors surely there are enough people willing and able to help make an A to Z guide to root specifically for the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6.
Of no would someone kindly say which version of Magisk Manager should be used, what files need to then be selected in Odin.
I am finding the guides unclear, I'd really find it helpful if a guide gave more detail about what file should be in the device, what ones need to be on a pc.
If an A to Z isn't going to be assisted please will someone specify what tools are needed and sources for them?
The guide which was intended for the Galaxy Tab 5 the link for Magisk Manager takes you to a page that doesn't give information about what version is needed or even where to get the download.
The guides I've seen seem to assume people already know pretty much the step by step steps needed to root.
Is a patched file Odin ready against XDA rules?
Could someone post the files they used to flash their device?
I'm so frustrated it's preventing me from thinking very clearly due to pure frustration.
Can't a downloadable zip be made with all the tools and resources in one download?
Pleeeeeeeease :/

Hi, Im looking at S6 tablet threads because I plan on buying one in the next month or so. I understand your frustration if your not firmlier . I am really good at rooting and modding although im not a developer I have built a couple custom roms. This is a telegram link im going to see if I can put it together and help.
You'll need a sdcard or USB Otg flash drive or something. Otherwise when you format data you would have to transfer files with TWRP and its a lot harder if your new.
https://t.me/wetatabs6
1. Unlock bootloader, Just like the note 10 you need to turn on developer options and find OEM unlock and turn it on. It might be greyed out if you just bought it if its been more than 7 days you should be able to click it on. Oem unlock is the bootloader unlock. It doesn't unlock the bootloader but it allows you to unlock the bootloader.
Im going to look into see if I can help you out more. Hold in the mean time keep looking and watch bootloader unlock for the galaxy note 10 on youtube its the same process Ive heard.

Heres a link to bootloader unlock for the note 10. Its the same thing for the S6 tab. Its the most important thing so you don't brick your device. Also what firmware and model are you on SMT860 or SMT865? You want to download your exact firmware from sammobile which is almost 6gb file so it takes awhile unless you have super fast internet like I do. It took me 2 minutes with 400mb/s speed. Once you get your bootloader unlocked let me know. I believe magisk 19.4 is what people used but im thinking magisk 20.4 would work to. You'll also need TWRP 3.3.1 tar file, Odin for windows you can find the files here make sure to get the twrp .tar file not img at first. Also make sure you get the right one for your model 860 or 865. Also get disable dm-verity force encrypt zip file in the link.

How to unlock bootloader...
1. Go to settings/about/software info and tap build number repeatedly until Dev settings is activated
2. Go into Dev settings, turn on OEM Unlock.
3. Boot into download mode, (plug in USB, reboot and hold vol up + vol dwn)
4. Once blue screen appears, long press volume up, until bootloader is unlocked.
5. In download mode, OEM unlock will show as being "off"
From latest stock firmware...
1. Unlock bootloader - See HERE (https://t.me/twrp_tabs6/2461)
2. Boot into download mode you can power off and
** FRP=off, OEM=off, KG=checking
3. Open Odin, uncheck auto reboot
4. Flash TWRP.tar in Odin (AP slot)
5. Reboot directly into TWRP
6. Format data
7. Flash encryption disabler - HERE (https://mega.nz/#!j5dGQAKY!R4lrZyayKvTWsTgqhakl62qGCRogRCowaKy9vA5khdw)
8. Flash WETA Kernel - From HERE (https://mega.nz/#F!6hFQkITR!oXvfEfC2mNx7okPPfOEgJA)
9. Flash Magisk - From HERE (https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=68966662&postcount=1)
10. Reboot system (not recovery)
Process from existing TWRP (update TWRP)
1. Boot into existing TWRP
2. Flash the new TWRP.img to "recovery"
3. Done, reboot
If you need any help let me know I've rooted everything I can get my hands on. I have yet to make a device a brick. This is just a quick layout I got off telegram. I know that it doesn't explain the little details and if your new you probably wondering a lot of stuff. First thing to say is if you have a PC with Odin and a copy of your firmware from sammobile you can restore the tablet pretty easy. I've never seen a hard brick and bootloops are easy fixes. I think XDA makes to big of a deal on not messing up and warnings. You need to rest assure that most cases are bootloops and are fixable with samsung odin you are safe thats why I only buy samsung now. If you flash stock firmware 100 times it wont damage your device. ALways make a back on to an external MicroSD card the minute you boot into TWRP for the first time. I play it safe I use a OTG usb slash drive and make another backup so I have 2 one on the sdcard and one on the usb flash drive. Then after your done backing up format the data by hitting the wipe key in blue on the screen than hit format data key and type yes. Its to format your internal storage completely because its encrypted. After that flash the disable encryption zip go into install key in TWRP than select storage and hopefully you have all the files on external sd card find the Dm Flash encryption disabler and click it should pop up a swipe to confirm flash swipe to flash. Next hit back key and fine theWETA Kernel zip file and swipe to flash. Than same thing again with magisk I would try magisk 20.4. Reboot to system

I feel I should apologise, I've managed to root my tablet following the tab s5e guide and now lent my laptop to a friend who has no Internet access. He can now use bt's WiFi hotpots. Thanks for the replies though people. An up to date guide is needed I feel though.
XDA is awesome
I haven't installed TWRP, I have done the method where I have to hold power and volume up until the s6 splash screen is displayed for root/magisk permission is booted.
Do anyone of you think its best to relock the bootloader?

So Im on android 10 and doing all the above. After getting into a fresh install a window pops up saying there is a problem with my device and touch controls dont work, however the pen does work. If I dont flash the kernel and encryption disabler it boots fine but it looks like TWRP has issues then.

Have you managed to root your device yet pal?
Sent from my [device_name] using XDA-Developers Legacy app
I've rooted my SM-T860 using Magisk and Odin on a laptop running windows 7. It was before android 10 was released for our devices and I haven't installed TWRP. I sold the laptop to a friend but I still have access to it when I need to use it. I'm terrified of bricking my tablet and probably over cautious. I want to upgrade to android 10 and be able to pass SafetyNet in Magisk etc. Sorry to be a pain, is anyone willing to tell me what I need to download in advance to then use on my friends laptop? Or can the upgrade and SafetyNet fix be done without having to use a computer?

How can I make it checking?

Hello Everyone,
Its been a while I haven't rooted my devices since note 3 dev.
I just want to thank all those who have helped to create the root guide for the Galaxy Tab S6 (SM-T860).
My sincerest Thank you. XDA-Community has always been helpful with rooting or helping/guiding if one brick their devices.
Unlock/Root without Access to OS??
Anyone able to assist me with a Galaxy Tab S6 (SM-T860) that I cannot enable Debugging or OEM Unlock from inside Android OS 10 ?? The original owner is now deceased and I am trying to get this unit reworked for her Sister, my customer. Any help will be greatly appreciated.. ( I have a bunch of experience rooting/rom'ing, using Linux etc. so I can follow some "advanced instructions" if someone has them. Thx in advance..

Take a look at https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s6/development/recovery-twrp-3-3-1-t3975587/post83615509
How i did it (im on november patch stock)
1. unlocked bootloader (youtube helped)
2. install samsung drivers
3. installed twrp.tar by using odin 3.14.1 (placed the twrp.tar in the AP list; uncked auto reboot and ra-partiton)
4. rebooted into download mode (power off device and connect usb to laptop and press Vol up + down together until download mode appears) then ensure the blue box appears on odin before flashing
5. blue box appeared. so flashed the twrp.tar
6. pressed Vol+down to reboot and then immediately pressed vol + Up to boot into twrp
7. Format data, reboot recovery; once in recovery connect to pc to copy over files for next steps
8. Flash encryption disabler (download)
6. Flash canary Magisk (download)
7. Reboot system
8. may hang on first boot, hard reset after 3 mins. Enjoy!!

Yes but you don't have a custom kernel so just flash magisk on stock kernel and it'll root
I'm stuck in Download Mode. And I tried to flash stock firmware but My tablet won't stay connected to Odin long enough to flash. And I can't get back into TWRP. What should I do?
