SM-T860 Root (up to date instructions) - Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Guides, News, & Discussion

Can someone please post upto date instructions to root Galaxy Tab S6,
Please not just links to instructions for other devices as its not helping and confusing the crap out of me.
I follow the popular link and attempt to download magisk app but that page isn't clear and I don't know what version of magisk manager J should download.
I have tried one version, patched it, flashed it with odin but it fails at the end and doesn't 'pass'
Can someone please post what version of magisk manager to use and instructions for this device not galaxy tab 5se or whatever it is
Please, I beg you guys. Help me root this tablet, its driving me insane and I could almost ****ing cry.
Is it possible for someone to post a start to finish guide here that's upto date and all newcomers can follow? Please?
And please let this post stay admins and don't merge it to other posts that then link to methods written and intended for devices that are not a Samsung Galaxy Tab s6.
I beg you guys, let's make an idiot proof easy to follow relevant A to B complete walk through.
I'm sure many need what I'm requesting. Thank you.

Please
With the whole planet almost in lockdown and stuck indoors surely there are enough people willing and able to help make an A to Z guide to root specifically for the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6.
Of no would someone kindly say which version of Magisk Manager should be used, what files need to then be selected in Odin.
I am finding the guides unclear, I'd really find it helpful if a guide gave more detail about what file should be in the device, what ones need to be on a pc.
If an A to Z isn't going to be assisted please will someone specify what tools are needed and sources for them?
The guide which was intended for the Galaxy Tab 5 the link for Magisk Manager takes you to a page that doesn't give information about what version is needed or even where to get the download.
The guides I've seen seem to assume people already know pretty much the step by step steps needed to root.
Is a patched file Odin ready against XDA rules?
Could someone post the files they used to flash their device?
I'm so frustrated it's preventing me from thinking very clearly due to pure frustration.
Can't a downloadable zip be made with all the tools and resources in one download?
Pleeeeeeeease :/

Hi, Im looking at S6 tablet threads because I plan on buying one in the next month or so. I understand your frustration if your not firmlier . I am really good at rooting and modding although im not a developer I have built a couple custom roms. This is a telegram link im going to see if I can put it together and help.
You'll need a sdcard or USB Otg flash drive or something. Otherwise when you format data you would have to transfer files with TWRP and its a lot harder if your new.
https://t.me/wetatabs6
1. Unlock bootloader, Just like the note 10 you need to turn on developer options and find OEM unlock and turn it on. It might be greyed out if you just bought it if its been more than 7 days you should be able to click it on. Oem unlock is the bootloader unlock. It doesn't unlock the bootloader but it allows you to unlock the bootloader.
Im going to look into see if I can help you out more. Hold in the mean time keep looking and watch bootloader unlock for the galaxy note 10 on youtube its the same process Ive heard.

Heres a link to bootloader unlock for the note 10. Its the same thing for the S6 tab. Its the most important thing so you don't brick your device. Also what firmware and model are you on SMT860 or SMT865? You want to download your exact firmware from sammobile which is almost 6gb file so it takes awhile unless you have super fast internet like I do. It took me 2 minutes with 400mb/s speed. Once you get your bootloader unlocked let me know. I believe magisk 19.4 is what people used but im thinking magisk 20.4 would work to. You'll also need TWRP 3.3.1 tar file, Odin for windows you can find the files here make sure to get the twrp .tar file not img at first. Also make sure you get the right one for your model 860 or 865. Also get disable dm-verity force encrypt zip file in the link.

How to unlock bootloader...
1. Go to settings/about/software info and tap build number repeatedly until Dev settings is activated
2. Go into Dev settings, turn on OEM Unlock.
3. Boot into download mode, (plug in USB, reboot and hold vol up + vol dwn)
4. Once blue screen appears, long press volume up, until bootloader is unlocked.
5. In download mode, OEM unlock will show as being "off"
From latest stock firmware...
1. Unlock bootloader - See HERE (https://t.me/twrp_tabs6/2461)
2. Boot into download mode you can power off and
** FRP=off, OEM=off, KG=checking
3. Open Odin, uncheck auto reboot
4. Flash TWRP.tar in Odin (AP slot)
5. Reboot directly into TWRP
6. Format data
7. Flash encryption disabler - HERE (https://mega.nz/#!j5dGQAKY!R4lrZyayKvTWsTgqhakl62qGCRogRCowaKy9vA5khdw)
8. Flash WETA Kernel - From HERE (https://mega.nz/#F!6hFQkITR!oXvfEfC2mNx7okPPfOEgJA)
9. Flash Magisk - From HERE (https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=68966662&postcount=1)
10. Reboot system (not recovery)
Process from existing TWRP (update TWRP)
1. Boot into existing TWRP
2. Flash the new TWRP.img to "recovery"
3. Done, reboot
If you need any help let me know I've rooted everything I can get my hands on. I have yet to make a device a brick. This is just a quick layout I got off telegram. I know that it doesn't explain the little details and if your new you probably wondering a lot of stuff. First thing to say is if you have a PC with Odin and a copy of your firmware from sammobile you can restore the tablet pretty easy. I've never seen a hard brick and bootloops are easy fixes. I think XDA makes to big of a deal on not messing up and warnings. You need to rest assure that most cases are bootloops and are fixable with samsung odin you are safe thats why I only buy samsung now. If you flash stock firmware 100 times it wont damage your device. ALways make a back on to an external MicroSD card the minute you boot into TWRP for the first time. I play it safe I use a OTG usb slash drive and make another backup so I have 2 one on the sdcard and one on the usb flash drive. Then after your done backing up format the data by hitting the wipe key in blue on the screen than hit format data key and type yes. Its to format your internal storage completely because its encrypted. After that flash the disable encryption zip go into install key in TWRP than select storage and hopefully you have all the files on external sd card find the Dm Flash encryption disabler and click it should pop up a swipe to confirm flash swipe to flash. Next hit back key and fine theWETA Kernel zip file and swipe to flash. Than same thing again with magisk I would try magisk 20.4. Reboot to system

I feel I should apologise, I've managed to root my tablet following the tab s5e guide and now lent my laptop to a friend who has no Internet access. He can now use bt's WiFi hotpots. Thanks for the replies though people. An up to date guide is needed I feel though.
XDA is awesome

I haven't installed TWRP, I have done the method where I have to hold power and volume up until the s6 splash screen is displayed for root/magisk permission is booted.
Do anyone of you think its best to relock the bootloader?

So Im on android 10 and doing all the above. After getting into a fresh install a window pops up saying there is a problem with my device and touch controls dont work, however the pen does work. If I dont flash the kernel and encryption disabler it boots fine but it looks like TWRP has issues then.

Can someone kindly tell me how to root Tap S6 without TWRP methods. I tried to do the TWRP method but my phone bricked and stuck with bootloop. To stop bootloop I have to flash the android 10 stock firmware.

Stay on topic.I will publish no TWRP root method.

Have you managed to root your device yet pal?
Sent from my [device_name] using XDA-Developers Legacy app

I've rooted my SM-T860 using Magisk and Odin on a laptop running windows 7. It was before android 10 was released for our devices and I haven't installed TWRP. I sold the laptop to a friend but I still have access to it when I need to use it. I'm terrified of bricking my tablet and probably over cautious. I want to upgrade to android 10 and be able to pass SafetyNet in Magisk etc. Sorry to be a pain, is anyone willing to tell me what I need to download in advance to then use on my friends laptop? Or can the upgrade and SafetyNet fix be done without having to use a computer?

Hello Everyone,
Its been a while I haven't rooted my devices since note 3 dev.
I just want to thank all those who have helped to create the root guide for the Galaxy Tab S6 (SM-T860).
My sincerest Thank you. XDA-Community has always been helpful with rooting or helping/guiding if one brick their devices.

Unlock/Root without Access to OS??
Anyone able to assist me with a Galaxy Tab S6 (SM-T860) that I cannot enable Debugging or OEM Unlock from inside Android OS 10 ?? The original owner is now deceased and I am trying to get this unit reworked for her Sister, my customer. Any help will be greatly appreciated.. ( I have a bunch of experience rooting/rom'ing, using Linux etc. so I can follow some "advanced instructions" if someone has them. Thx in advance..

Take a look at https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s6/development/recovery-twrp-3-3-1-t3975587/post83615509

How i did it (im on november patch stock)
1. unlocked bootloader (youtube helped)
2. install samsung drivers
3. installed twrp.tar by using odin 3.14.1 (placed the twrp.tar in the AP list; uncked auto reboot and ra-partiton)
4. rebooted into download mode (power off device and connect usb to laptop and press Vol up + down together until download mode appears) then ensure the blue box appears on odin before flashing
5. blue box appeared. so flashed the twrp.tar
6. pressed Vol+down to reboot and then immediately pressed vol + Up to boot into twrp
7. Format data, reboot recovery; once in recovery connect to pc to copy over files for next steps
8. Flash encryption disabler (download)
6. Flash canary Magisk (download)
7. Reboot system
8. may hang on first boot, hard reset after 3 mins. Enjoy!!

Yes but you don't have a custom kernel so just flash magisk on stock kernel and it'll root

I'm stuck in Download Mode. And I tried to flash stock firmware but My tablet won't stay connected to Odin long enough to flash. And I can't get back into TWRP. What should I do?

ROOT SM-T210R SIMPLE and Easy, 8gb, White

Okay so I've been at it for days and i mean like months.... when I first bought my 8 gb white Samsung galaxy tab 3 Kernel 3.4.5, android 4.1.2, model JZ054K.T210RUEAMK1 and all i have been running into is problems, like jittery display issues, or flickering display, I tried every method but none has worked but i finally found one and got it all working and running, First of all i would like to thank gr8nole for this method, and all who have helped him. So first let me explain the most easiest explanation for dummies like me, or noobs
Just and example video for visual learners http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XolmtyvS3Yk&feature=youtu.be, but you want to click on the files i suggested on the bottom lol not what he has on his screen xD
Must Have: KIES, make sure you have fully updated rom from samsung themself which can be found on kies when you plug it in and update firmware, which your android should be on 4.1.2 and version because that's what i have
1. First lets Get all the files we need, First go download SM-T210.CWM.6.0.4.5.recovery.tar.zip at his xda post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2433853, after you have download that you will a friend name odin, which can be found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2189539 (With odin you only want to use v3.07) and nothing else , Last but not least you want this file from gr8ole android-armeabi-universal-root-signed.zip and save that to your sd card or ext while click on usb debugging or w.e you wanna store in on tablet
so you should have odin 3.07
T210.CWM.6.0.4.5.recovery.tar.zip
android-armeabi-universal-root-signed.zip
2. Use the same method as g8nole and minor adjustments
Instructions:
1. Download ODIN on your computer (just do a google search to find it...version 3.07 will work fine). http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2189539
2. Power off the device.
3. Restart in "Download Mode" by holding the "HOME" button, "Volume Down" and "Power" all at the same time (for about 5 seconds).
4. Hit the "Volume Up" to enter download mode.
5. Start the ODIN exe program using admin rights which means right click run as admin. I recommend un-checking Auto Reboot. DO NOT CHECK RE-PARTITION LEAVE UNCHECKED YOU BEEN WARNED (which it already should be). See notes about ODIN below.
6. Connect the device via USB to your computer. Verify the device shows as "Added" in the Message box. If it doesn't show then you need the Samsung USB drivers (just install KIES to get them) which can be found here http://www.samsung.com/us/kies/.
7. Select "PDA" then choose the T210.CWM.6.0.4.5.recovery.tar.zip.
8. Hit "START"
9. Wait for device to restart. Which means wait til odin says OKAY in the white box and the Picture ask you to reset, When the download icon under download updates is full bar, and odin says reset!, just unplug it. then restart by holding the power button down, with vol up, and home, once the samsung picture shows, only hold the up vol button, recovery mode should now be on. Select install zip, and locate the android-armeabi-universal-root-signed.zip)navigate with the up down volume button and power button to select) file, whichever you placed in sd, or exsd,
10. When all is done reboot device, then it will update your android once you turn it on, Now the anoying part, It will be rooted but what google play won't connect?, easy fix , first lets just update all the binaries since its already rooted in supersu app,
Google Store Fix, now first you have to delete your some things, your apps wont dissapear or nothing as long as you dont uinstall them, go to settings<application manager<all<google play store<clear data/cache w.e<force stop<uninstall updates<it will then ask you it will be factory installed<yes, next step, delete your gmail account if you haven't done so, now go to your time settings (Date and Time) and change it to recent date whichever today is , then open play store and it will ask you to sign in again, blah blah google needs sign up and it should be up and running
ALL DONE, remember this is for people who have run into flicker display problems, which is caused by kernal issue with our model, but with stock rom itself we can universally root it through odin with just that simple method which took me like 3 mins lol to do
Grats guys! you have root and cwm now who doesn't want that enjoy and thanks to developers hard work! and my ambition!
this worked for my SM-T210 also. Thanks heaps for this how-to!
Ok my device is already rooted but I would like to install CWM Recovery on it. So I can make a backup. Or does anyone have the stock kernel for it

But you can also use Odin 3.09.
I'm portant is that you flash always the newest CWM / TWRP or PhilzTouch Version about the new updater scripts.

Your best option is to get CWM sknce it will be your original backup instead of a Rom created from another device.
SM-T2105?
Hello,
I came here beacause of a shorcut link given by @gr8nole and another member (I forgot sorry).
But my English must be to bad, i read and re-read, still don't find the answer...
I have the G Tab 3 kids model, SM-T2105.
@bierma32 says: "Important is that you flash always the newest CWM / TWRP or PhilzTouch Version"
Could you tell me wich one is the best, CMW or TWRP, plz? (the last I can find for T210 is CMW-6.0.4.9 and/or TWRP-2.8.2.0)
More important, do you know where I can find the zip of a rooted stock rom, including that 'kids' stuff? (SM-T2105). Or will I not loose the stock rom? Is there no wipe? Sorry, I don't understand.
I want to root, because of lack of space, and the rest.. but I don't want to loose that..
And the most important, "last but not least", I could not find the zip " android-armeabi-universal-root-signed.zip", so can you help me please, putting a mirror or so? Or could it work only with flashing a SuperSU zip? Not so easy, right?
As you maybe can read, I am a newbie in Android rooting. Or is there another way to do?
Thanks for reply.

[GUIDE] How to root a Sprint Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7" (SM-T217S)

There are a couple other guides on here but they are mostly just links to videos or ad infested download links and none of them worked for me so this is how I ended up getting it to work. Everything I used is attached
For the more experienced readers it's simple, flash TWRP using Odin, boot into recovery and TWRP will prompt you to root.
For the only slightly experienced:
Boot into Download Mode (Hold Vol Down +Power to turn on the Device)
Unzip the TWRP Recovery Image after downloading it below.
Connect your tablet to your PC, unzip and run Odin, click the PDA button and select the TWRP md5 file you just unzipped.
Begin holding the Volume Up button on your Tablet and hit the start button in Odin (this will ensure you reboot into the new recovery)
Once in TWRP if you select the reboot option under advanced you should be prompted to root your device if it's not already rooted. If that doesn't happen for some reason you can use adb to sideload the SuperSU zip I've attached, or put it on an sd card and find the flash zip from sdcard option in TWRP to flash it.
Thanks Justin! Works great. Someone should sticky this.
Luckily I had a Windows computer I could use for this, but my main machine is a MacBook Pro. I wish someone would do a nice clear walkthrough like this one for using Heimdall on a Mac.
To start I have rooted many phones but am stumped on this tablet. After getting it to start with holding the volume down and power key it stops on the downloading screen. Once I can get it to reboot I held the volume up and power key and got into system recovery. If I am not mistaken I can boot from here also. Right??
Thanks it was very useful!
Will this trigger the Knox 0x1 problem? I just got this tablet and I want to be able to take it in to Sprint for repairs if I need to.
Thanks!!!

Thanks for the help! This is my first root I've done myself and it works like a charm. Now my next step is to flash it to any carrier. Does anyone know how to flash the sprint device to a different carrier? If anyone could help me out, that would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for this. I finally got a couple Galaxy Tab 3's (One 210 and one 217) to upgrade my girls from their Kindle Fires.
Really needed this root to remove all the factory loaded crap.
Thanks.

I believe it was on 4.2.2 when I rooted. I will have to double-check that when I get home tonight.
What model number do you have? I had to use a different TWRP download for each one of mine, meaning I had to find a different one for the 210.

My model number is T217S. I tried to do some extra googling and came up with a post saying that the update after 4.2.2 installed KNOX on their tablet, which made their tablet come up with errors when trying to root. Based on your answer and what I found, I'm assuming I'm alright to give it a try. I do have one other question though. After rooting do you know if it would be possible to unroot incase I have to go back to Sprint with a problem?

In fact, when I booted after root, something (sorry I dont remember if it was during root, or after) asked me if I wanted to disable Knox. I said yes, and smooth sailing ever since. I think it might have been the super user app itself that disabled it for me.

Just tried it and successfully rooted! I got the same message that you described about Knox. It appears when you go to update SuperSu. Thank you for the help!
For anyone else wondering about going back to stock, I found a thread to the stock firmware.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2512172
I found the answer in another thread. Flashing TWRP will trip Knox.
Didn't work for me
I did the TWRP stuff and all it did was trigger that warranty bit. Still no root.

Yeah, same story here. After flashing TWRP then installing SuperSU first via the TWRP option by booting directly to recovery before OS after flashing TWRP through odin.....then once I clicked the SuperSU app after the OS loaded I chose first the "play" option to update SuperSU then the TWRP option to install the binary update. When it next booted it informed me that Knox was installed and asked whether to disable or not..I said yes and haven't had any problems at all...just trying to find a good ROM now^^
awesome thanxs for the info..... now if we could only get cm11 on this puppy
Root Failure, odd case
I have twins - they are both, identically:
Software Version: T217VPUAMH9
Hardware Version: T217S.04
Model Number: SM-T217S
Android Version: 4.2.2
Baseband Version: T217SVPUAMH9
Kernel Version: 3.4.0-1458241
Build Number: JDQ39.T217SVPUAMH9
Jim Trotter III-style, I-DENTICAL!
I successfully rooted one with:
1: Enable debugging
2: Boot into Download Mode (from poweroff, hold Vol Down+Power)
3: terminal: sudo heimdall flash --RECOVERY ./T217S.TWRP2.7.0.0.flashable/recovery.img
4: poweroff ; boot to TWRP. From TWRP, wipe [factory reset], then install: ./root/SuperSU-v1.93.zip
With the second (apparently evil) twin, at the heimdall command, I get:
...
Session begun.
Downloading device's PIT file...
PIT file download successful.
Uploading RECOVERY
0%
ERROR: Failed to send file part packet!
ERROR: RECOVERY upload failed!
Ending session...
ERROR: Failed to receive session end confirmation!
Releasing device interface...
Re-attaching kernel driver...
On the device, the blue progress bar grows to about 2% and stops.
I even tried using a different cable in case one had gone wonky, to no avail.
I am at a total loss here.
... and SUCCEED, but via strangeways
...
So, mounting frustration.
I tried instead a slightly different version of TWRP:
$ sudo heimdall flash --RECOVERY recovery/T217S.TWRP.2.7.0.0.recovery/recovery.tar.md5
This time the result is different, but still no success:
Initialising connection...
Detecting device...
Claiming interface...
Attempt failed. Detaching driver...
Claiming interface again...
Setting up interface...
Initialising protocol...
Protocol initialisation successful.
Beginning session...
Some devices may take up to 2 minutes to respond.
Please be patient!
Session begun.
Downloading device's PIT file...
PIT file download successful.
Uploading RECOVERY
100%
... but it stuck at 100% and did not continue. Device also stuck.
^C, hard reboot of device.
Tried again to double check, same result - sticks at 100%, progress bar on device sticks at somewhere around 5%.
Aware of the possible futility, but bored, I tried first one again:
$ sudo heimdall flash --RECOVERY ./T217S.TWRP2.7.0.0.flashable/recovery.img
SUCCEED.
So, apparently it has to be "knocked loose"?
Dunno. I'm in. Hope this helps someone else.
Root NB8
This won't work with NB8 EDIT: I was wrong this does work on NB8
Apparently had to reinstall the drivers a few times to get it to take on Windows. Still no clue what the issue was with Heimdall.

Questions on Root and stock and custom 6.0.1 ROMs for SM-N915W8

Hello all.
I have a Samsung Galaxy Note Edge SM-N915W8 on Rogers Wireless (Canada) running 6.0.1.
I'm at the point where I would like to root my stock ROM and I was wondering if it was better to factory reset, then root?
If I root first and then factory reset, does root stay or will I have to root again?
Also I found a set of instructions on rooting my phone and wanted to put them here and just get general feedback to see if I'm on the right track by following these steps:
For Non Rooted Users-Install TWRP Recovery In Samsung Galaxy Note Edge SM-N915W8 Canada 6.0.1 Marshmallow
- Download Samsung USB driver
- Download Odin
- Download TWRP Recovery For Install TWRP Recovery In Samsung Galaxy Note Edge SM-N915W8 Canada 6.0.1 Marshmallow

- Connect Your Mobile With PC via USB Cable
- Launch Odin Application. It Will Show the message added. If you did not get this message Repeat the above steps
- After Getting Added Message Select PDA Button then Browse for the TWRP Recovery file Select it.Tick the Auto reboot
- You can check the TWRP Recovery is Correctly installed or not by Entering into Recovery Mode->Switch off your Mobile->Volume Up+Home+Power Buttons
Install SuperSu In Samsung Galaxy Note Edge SM-N915W8 Canada 6.0.1 Marshmallow
- Download SuperSu.Zip and Copy it into your Internal Memory
- Switch Off Your Mobile.Boot it Into recovery mode->Volume Up+Home+Power Button
- Now it Will Boot into TWRP Recovery Mode.Select Wipe->Advance Wipe->Select Cache,System,Data
- Return to Home of TWRP Select Install.Select SuperSu.Zip
- After the Installation Reboot Your Mobile
- Now You can Find the SuperSu in your Mobile Applications
I also have the original stock ROM from Rogers for my model and 6.0.1 for backup.
Any suggestions/comments welcome or let me know if I'm heading in the right direction would be spiffy
I would also be curious of custom ROMs but having looked around a bit, I don't see any 6.0.1 customs that work for N915W8.
Unless I'm just not looking deep/hard enough?
I found a list online of 5.1.1 custom ROMs that say they work on the Note Edge but I'm not sure if it includes N915W8 or whether the edge screen and edge screen apps still work.
I would love any suggestions or recommendations on customs that would work with my version of the Note Edge.
So no responses? I guess what I posted is correct? I guess I'll just have to attempt it...

Sounds about right.
I just did mine after an update to 6.01.
Man is that system loaded with crap!
It's taken me a few evenings to pare it right down, but it's looking real good.
No wonder people are complaining about bad battery life.
I would start by going through all the settings menus and turn off all the auto update and report back stuff in the different sections.
There's LOTS of it.
My download came directly from Samsung and I used Kies,NOT Kies 3 as Samsung suggested.
I got what I wanted and install was a breeze.
My home computer uses Windows 7 Ultimate.
I don't know if that's what made things different
I also found Titanium backup gave me some headaches when I was debloating.
I got an error on reboot and ended up doing a total reinstall.
Oh well.
It's flying real fast so far.
I also found there "vendor entries" in Data that corresponded to Rogers as well as others.
My provider is Bell.
I'm betting that Samsung is using a generic ROM for all the Canadian phones.
Going to try
going to try this tonight, Rogers phone but I'm on Koodo.
Goal is to purge this phone of all bloat, what app do you use to do that with?
Is there a guide you followed? I think I can do it with just the steps listed above, I've rooted my S2 and Note2 before... Still, links would be nice...
any tips?

Tips?
I use CWM recovery now,not TWRP.
I couldn't reduce the brightness in TWRP and wound up with two vertical pink bars in either side of my screen.
I did love the features built into it though....too bad about the GUI.
I use four things for removing apps'.
SD Maid Pro ....my primary.
Titanium backup.
ES File explorer Pro....very final at what it does
System app remover pro.
As you can tell,I always go pro.....I hate advertizing.
These all work in slightly different ways, but I always make sure Titanium has a backup of them first.
You can start debloating by getting rid of crap like Facebook, etc.
It's not like you can't get there through your normal browser....really Samsung, does it need it's own app' ?
Try turning off all the auto sync' ware such as the one in photo gallery, error reporting, locations, etc.
That should get you started.
Hello! I am trying to root my Note Edge as well (Rogers) and am having some difficulty. I followed the steps outlined; however, keep getting the TWRP Menu on rebooting (not entering recovery). Is someone able to assist? Thank you!

Hello! I was able to fix the problem. I believe the issue is with this step: "Select Wipe->Advance Wipe->Select Cache,System,Data." This wiped the OS from my phone, which is why it seemed to always boot into the TWRP Recovery menu. Instead, I chose "Wipe->Format Data," after reinstalling the OS, I also deselected "Auto Reboot," prior to installing SuperSU. Also, the version of SuperSU has to be greater than 2.76. Thanks for responding.

I had the same issue as well when installing the CF-Auto-Root file, it would brick the phone and Odin give the Fail error message. What I did was installed the stock ROM from SamMobile, then installed TWRP - booted directly into the TWRP menu and installed SuperSU. Phone is now rooted and working well. Hope this helps.

Root newbie

Hello,
Please help me. My samsung a8 updated to android 9 and the call recording is disabled. I need to root the phone, but help me please in the following questions:
1. Do i need custom rom?
2. Do i need custom kernel?
3. Will the android self update as now?
So what is the most importnt steps just to root the device?
In my whole life i paid for one software (callrecorder) which is not working now.
Unfortuently there is no clear tutorial to root this phone but you car read here: [GUIDE][17.06.2019] RMM/KG bypass - Root/Install TWRP on Exynos Samsung after 2018

1. Do i need custom rom?
no
2. Do i need custom kernel?
no
3. Will the android self update as now?
if you flashed TWRP, no
1. Do i need custom rom? No
2. Do i need custom kernel? No
3. Will the android self update as now? depend on your settings
1-to root it the first thing is to have OEM Unlock available and enabled in Dev Options
if not keep the device fully on and with data on dont restart, power off or reset for at least 7 days continuously (or a bit more) and you should have it
if it's not shown dot bother with the rest
2-to have Dev Menu available go to settings >> about phone >> software information >> on build number tape multiple times 10 times i guess, you will have a pop up confirmation
once back at settings menu you will find a new choice at the very bottom "Develper Options"
3-next step with to plug ur phone with PC with usb cable
after installing SAMSUNG DRIVERS & ODIN and downloading TWRP (custom recovery)
in ODIN 2nd tab, untick "AUTO REBOOT" VERY VERY IMPORTANT
chose the TWRP file using AP button/option in ODIN
put your phone in download MOD power off completely >> power back on while holding vol+ and vol- at the same time
flash the file using ODIN to your phone
4- now here is the tricky part
after fklashing TWRP if you reboot normaly you will be locked again and you wont have that OEM Unlock option i talked about and you will be stuck
so, after flashing TWRP, press vol- + power button to reboot the phone
AT THE VERY PRECISE MOMENT WHEN PHONE TURN OFF BEFORE POWERING BACK ON WHEN IT BLINK
RELEAS POWER BUTTON AND VOL+ and PRESS POWER BUTTON + VOL+ AGAIN VERY VERY QUICKLY
if successful you should boot into TWRP directly
5-once you are in TWRP wipe everything then format the device (ALL DATA WILL BE LOST)
of course you need to have the needed files already copied in the SD CARD
from twrp after the wipe and formatiing
go to install and flash in that order RMM_Bypass_v3_corsicanu or RMM-State_Bypass_Mesa_v2
then no-verity-opt-encrypt-6.0
then at the end flash Magisk-v19.3
once its done reboot the phone normally, you will have your phone working as normal
once you are in, install Magisk APK MagiskManager-v7.3.2
reboot again
and voilaaa, you should have root and everything shoul be functional for you
allthow of course I will not be responsible for any kind of software or hardware damage, and certainly not ressponsible for any data loss
as it is completely you responsibility
I would like to attach all the files mentioned above, to help better but dnt sems to find how
so you will have to download and gather them from previous posts
Thank you very much, but i have a question. You wrote this:

I this will happen what csn i do?
The most afraiding thing is to me about rooting if i get a brick.

its virtually impossible to brick samsung devices these days. Well, perma-brick that is. I have spent entire evenings after work bricking phones just so i could figure out what caused the brick and then fix it. the worst thing that would happen if the FRP lock gets enabled again is that youd have to go re-disable it.
i guess i didnt really explain that clearly after re-reading it. So, when he says "stuck" he means with TWRP installed and no method of rooting. The phone will boot normally in the situation described in point #4

[Guide] Samsung Galaxy A20 - Restore your phone to stock after Bootloop/soft brick

Hello and welcome
I'm sure a lot of galaxy A20 owners like me are experimenting with all the new improved toys brought to us by android 10 development lately and also by the recent breakthroughs made by Master Guinea Pig Phizzwizz and his trusted followers.
All right, let's begin. First things first: you know that any modification you make on your phone is your responsibility alone. You are the only one able to assess how much risk you're willing to take whenever you flash your phone. Anything can go wrong at some point and you should be able to rescue your phone provided the damage is reversible.
What i mean is if you hard brick your phone there is nothing i can do for you. Other than that, if you end up with a soft brick or bootloop, this tutorial is for you.
My device variant is 205F, and this tutorial will be oriented towards that. Apparently, all procedures for it are also working for the 205YN (still needs full confimation) others like 205G or 205U have different procedures, but restoring your phone to stock should work on all variants, because it's the standard way of doing it in other android devices.
I assume you have the necessary tools to work with: the firmware files of your variant, Odin's latest version (always make sure to disable auto-reboot in options, it's better to do it manually), the modded boot.tar for root, and the TWRP file provided by Afaneh in the 'TWRP recovery project' thread (if you wanna have another try at rooting and installing a custom recovery on your device)
Reboot your phone into download mode (plug cable to PC then vol+/vol-)
Launch Odin with admin rights and make sure you get a "pass". Add the firmware 4files (AP,BL, CP, and CSC/HOME_CSC) to the appropriate slots and flash (i was able to restore my phone with AP alone, but there may be some things not working right that are related to the other files). It Should take 5 to 10 minutes.
Unplug your phone and reboot. You should land at the "Welcome, Setup your phone" screen.
## You should stop here, and ask yourself: do I want to risk breaking my phone again or do I want go further?##
If you decide to go on, complete the setup by skipping all menus you can (always make sure you enable dev options and USB debugging and unlock bootloader if they are disabled, or reboot after any flash will result in "unable to load the system" in bootloader or a bootloop) then reboot to download mode then in Odin, flash the magisk modified boot.tar (you get it following the instructions in the 'Rooting your galaxy A20' thread).
Exit download mode (long press vol-and power until you get cramps) then reboot to stock recovery this time (vol+/power) and factory reset the phone.
Finish setup then install flashify and choose your TWRP recovery img. Your phone will reboot and go to custom recovery. Be careful what you do here, you may break your phone again!
##again you can stop here or go further and free yourself from Samsung Jail##
Reboot to TWRP and do a factory reset from there then flash the GSI alone. Reboot and you should get to the android logo. Finish setup and you're done. If you get stuck at the logo, there are a couple of zip files you can flash one by one and see if it helps. You can get them from here:
https://www.xda-developers.com/flash-generic-system-image-project-treble-device/
Make sure you read the article thoroughly and only flash what is necessary.
That's it. You should have a working GSI, enjoy!
