Will isps start blocking apps and websites since net neutrality is dead? - General Questions and Answers

I'm worried about the future of the Internet. I'm just wondering if isps will start blocking apps and websites. Also do you think that if they do that people would put public pressure on them to unblock things? Please help me. Thanks.

As SimonTS posted, your post was incorrect
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-20025973
Since it can be done on any device using a public wifi network.
Just like whatsapp sniffer

Mod-alert your other post, or just PM a moderator, & ask them, instead of starting a new thread. If you don't know why that one was closed, this one's just going to be closed, as well.

Its quite possible, but as SimonTS pointed out, if you're managing your bank account on public wifi then you deserve to be hacked.
Public wifi is for light browsing, some facebook (facebook is secure), email, etc. Not for personal finances which can be easily tracked

Using your Android device on a public WiFi network is like using an iPad, iPhone, Blackberry, Laptop, etc on a public WiFi network. There's ALWAYS the possiblity of data theft. That's where common sense comes into the equation.

How can Android 'fix the problem'? The problem is caused by using sensitive data on a public network. The only way this sort of thing will ever be avoided is if your device immediately connects on a VPN back to a secure, trusted location for all data transfer - and even then someone sat in the ISP, on the backbone or with a powerful enough computer to crack the algorithm can still steal your data if they want to.
Trying to blame Android, Google or the App writers for this is just inane.
And again Thread Closed. OP do not make any more threads, of this nature. Thank you.

Social Networker

I have read several threads complaining about the Facebook app and that people prefer the mobile site. But if you stay signed in on the app or the site, you might get hacked. So I made this browser to hide your social activity on your phone. Obviously because it's the mobile site there are no notifications or anything, but for those that aren't concerned with that, perhaps this will work for you. I know people who get hacked often. Figured this sounded like a good idea.

Ad Hoc Hive Networking for freedom of speech

In these days of government intrusion, the loss of privacy, and the ability of these entities to shut down, intercept, disrupt, modify, and to otherwise stop free speech or to suppress the truth was wondering if it were possible for some guru to come up with an application that would do the following:
could be transferred easily in a crowd, which would form a private add hoc network that would allow for encrypted communications between users of the application. This application could share various types of media and could work over wifi, bluetooth, vpn, or cell networks. In areas where communications are shut down people could be able to create an ad hoc network which could eventually extend beyond the shutdown area an hop out to the internet to share the hive data or to pass on valuable news. This application could save video, audio, various sensor data (barometric, vibrational), and coordinate data and instantly share this data across the hive network in an encrypted anonymous manner so if an entity were to confiscate someone's property that information with still exist in the hive.
figured I'd shoot out the idea.
regards
@qu1nn while the idea sounds great during the times of emergency, however this hive can also be misused by the unlawful elements of the society. Is there a way the communication can be monitored while the flow continues. For eg. the content shared can be monitored while the hive cannot be itself blocked by the authorities?
Just my thoughts...
Dude, you missed th point. Such an app is for when government becomes the enemy of the people. We'll all be criminals or sheep

Perfect! Now, assuming it works, next step is for everyone to install it. Otherwise it's pretty useless.

In Turkey or Brazil, I would do it asap. In Italy, where I live, might be matter of months :-/

What will happen to the Internet without net neutrality?

I've heard a lot of things about this whole net neutrality being gone deal. I'm just wondering what will happen to the Internet now? Will people fight to keep the Internet open? Also does this mean isps will start blocking apps and websites? Please help me clear this up because I'm very concerned about it.

Not so sure Internet Neutrality was ever about being neutral... It's more about who can define what "neutral" is and who has to play by those rules.
Real net neutrality is easy - decentralize and stop patronizing a handful of companies with large positions on the net.
Do you think isps will start blocking apps and websites?

Looking for web partners.

I have recently come into a couple of domains in a trade. The are androidery.com and myandroidreview.com.
I was just wondering if anyone would be interested in doing anything with these domains.
Possibly a popular developer or developers that need a place to host their roms and source control servers. Whatever it may be, let me know.
If you have other ideas for websites you can post here or PM me and I will try to help you out.
Thanks,
Daniel
