This is due to the visual voicemail app not being compatible with KK.
Your visual voice-mail isn't activating properly. That should only happen once during a reboot.

Um. As far add I know visual voicemail is compatible with KK. I mean, it's in the stock KK ROM and works fine.

Just because you have something compatible, it doesn't mean it's optimal....
Posting from my LG G2 while driving an Evo IX.
Umm. Okay. Just running the stock ROM here. Nothing special- not even root. Just saying that it is likely not a compatibility issue with KitKat.

I don't think that means a whole lot. You link a thread from another forum for another phone. I don't know what ROM OP is running, but I would say that would be more significant than saying it's incompatible with KitKat. Because saying that is just untrue. Maybe it's just not compatible with AOSP based ROMs. And that wouldn't surprise me since its built for the stock ROM.
Sent from my LG-D801 using xda app-developers app
I'm only linking the op, since this gives the exact example that the op sees. Do you have a suggestion for the op, and perhaps a reason for his phone's behavior?
Posting from my LG G2 while driving an Evo IX.
No, I don't. I have just been saying that blaming it on incompatibility with KitKat is misinformation.

I'm not sure why you think that if an issue does not apply directly to you, that the issue does not apply to others..
Unless you have information stating otherwise, I find your opinion to be non-informational. But, of course, everyone has their opinions. Definitely let me know if you have any real information on this, though. I can't install that apk since there is no root option for TMO G2 yet. Obviously this works fine on my Nexus 5.
Posting from my LG G2 while driving an Evo IX.
The only real information I have on this is that the app in question works fine on KitKat. Why is that so hard to understand?
I've said what I came here to say - clearly - and at least 3 times. I will not say it again. I'm done here.

If you open the visual voicemail app, both on initial launch and I believe the play store, they specifically state it's related to KK. The VV service isn't properly activating.

Add a NEW APN for the old HSPA+ ; the 'phone' apn
the new LTE's APN (pta) is restricted on the AT&T's end..
it has nothing to do with the phone

i agree. I'm not too sure what the problem is but it seems to filter sites even when i'm tethering (i'm grandfathered).
The issue is fixed when i hop on MIT's vpn (which encrypts all connections).

I spoke to the guy that sold me the phone. He has filed a request with verizon wireless to get the MEID updated in the system to show the proper device. He is a verizon rep so hopefully they will get this pushed through.
I have a friend who works for HTC and I've gotten quite a few dev phones from him. I was in the same boat once and Verizon corrected the meid number with no issue. It does take 2-3 business days though.
The problem is that the phone goes right to HTC, in my case, and not too Verizon. The phone is never tagged in their system so that's why they have too add it.
