I use it often too. Only downside is transferring large files to the phone. I have a weak router and it takes a while to transfer 1GB or 2GB files. Im pretty sure that will go away as soon as I replace my router with an AC capable one. But yes, the app is fantastic and its free

What makes you think having an AC router will make your speeds increase? The LG G2 doesnt have an AC chip. Just abgn and 5Ghz band.. all you need is N router or above...you wont see AC speeds on a the LG g2..

It supports 802.11ac it was mentioned on many review sites.
http://www.gsmarena.com/lg_g2-5543.php
Also some people have used it as mentioned on android central.

How the hell....
Damn, I am wrong. It does support AC. Hah. I have no idea how I over looked that..
Thanks for the headsup!!
yes i agree, awesome app. G2 has someting similar like this on stock as well but i never use it, i'd much rather use Airdroid . Its fantastic
No problem ☺
I actually came back to reply that the G2 does have Ac chip in it but i see that was already addressed. Needless to say, the max AC connection speed Ive seen is 433mbps which is rather low for an AC chip specially now that the s5 can connect to an AC router at 877mbps. I dont care but i do care that transfering 1.5GB roms do take time lol. but i got myself an OTG cable to it doesn't matter anymore, Back to topic, this app is awesome and i highly recommend it.
For transfering large files, I prefer to use app like es file explorer and set up a ftp sever with the phone rather than using airdroid. For this, this get a higher download and upload speed.

STOKED!!!!!
thank you, zokipirlo. this is a great contribution to the android market.
Sounds like Plex, although it does allow you to download.
It doesn't work too good, I got a lot of garbage frames, big boxes of colors and stuff. My PC is fast enough so I don't think it's a problem with the encoding speed.
Also I found a bug, You cant add an entire hard drive letter, on the server it shows like C:/\ and on the app itself it shows C:\\ and when you enter it shows nothing.
I hope this app get better because I miss Air video from my iphone.
Also, could you make MKV embedded subs appear like they appear on the PC? I mean, encoding the subs with the video on the PC (for anime fansub and stuff)
EDIT: this is on a vibrant 2.2
Holy hd batman!!
Works perfectly on my Samsung Galaxy S2, This is great because plex didn't!!
The one and only feature i can suggest for now is 3G support, For when I'm not at home.
Video stops playing (crashes to menu) if I move the slider too fast. Also buffering takes too much time. I have fast wifi and i3 laptop.
Inspire 4g , CM 7 base.

This is usually a side effect of bad wifi signal strength. Are you far from your wifi router?

If that's not a problem then it's probably quality related. Can you please tell me which quality profile or bitrate in case of custom profile are you using?
I tried all 3 profiles.
First the default one, appear to be good for 10 seconds but then randomly some frame goes bad and the next 30 frames looks awful too, then it corrects itself for another 10-15 seconds and the same happens.
The dual core preset appear to be the same.
And the low quality preset its a gamble, because sometimes looks better, but still got some bad frames, but sometimes it looks worse than the other 2 presets, almost 95% of bad frames.
Could it be a codec problems? I use CCCP for my video playback needs...

Yes you could buy the camera between $ 50 to $ 100 that will fit your vehicle compared to the aftermarket kits that are out there that will run $ 400 to $ 1700 (OEM) for certain vehicles, that will use the OEM Nav Screen
Not looking to have a gazillion screens in the car, one for each single application.
Lets bring our tablets/phones to good use !
Hope developers are listening, because they could make real good money on something like this
Anyone got this figured out yet? I found this app http://www.appszoom.com/android_developer/juergen-kienhoefer_byhny.html that might work. but not having any luck finding a bluetooth enabled camera that's waterproof and wide angle that would work for the application. The one for that app is spendy and I don't think it'll work as it just uses an on board battery for the power so you'd have to take it out and charge it regularly and I highly doubt it's waterproof.
I did purchase a cheap backup cam and was trying to find a bluetooth transmitter that I could hook it to either via the cam's RCA output or a 3.5mm jack via an adaptor.
I would love to find an app or have one developed for this that would automatically pair and display the camera once the camera is turned on via the backup lights.
i been trying to figure this out as well
but i want a camera that is on all the time while i am riding my motorcycle and use my GN2 as a monitor
i came across these 3 possible options
this camera which says it works via wifi with android os but the camera seems to big for my application
http://www.ebay.com/itm/230949437787?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649
2nd option is another wifi camera but you have to view streaming via the web
this has a youtube video
http://www.ebay.com/itm/180862777730?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
3rd option is another wifi camera. im waiting on the seller to give me more iof if it will pair with my GN2
http://www.ebay.com/itm/321093995489?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649
im still looking into bluetooth cameras and i will post what i find
I still cant believe that we dont have tons of options for this application.
Backup camera are very popular now a days you would think it would be a no brainer for android
thanks for the links, Keep me posted

Seems pretty expensive, but I am sure there are some other options out there. You have to use their app in order to view the camera's output and the framerate looks like it's pretty poor from what I saw on the iPhone version of the app. Not sure if Android will be better.

I purchased the 4ucam Wifi setup. It works good enough, but there is a problem. With the wifi setup to see the camera you can not get data over 4G. This means if you want to use the camera in your car and still be able to get email or map data etc. you must manually turn on your wifi and wait about 10 seconds for the camera to connect. Then when done using the camera (backing up) manually turn off the wifi to enable 4G data again. Then when you get home, manually turn on the wifi again to use your wifi internet connection.
You must also turn off the feature to auto switch between wifi and mobile networks.
This would be the same for any camera using wifi. I've not found a way to use a non-internet connected wifi network and get mobile network data at the same time.
Still searching for a way to get a backup camera on my android phone.
There is a startup in my town who is creating exactly what you want.
It looks great , but the price is a bit insane

There are a lot of people who complain about MTP because it isn't compatible with linux, and some people actually have slower transfer rates. However, with a toggle option, the compatibility issue is now null because you can disable it for times you are using linux. Also, in my personal experience, it is MUCH faster than standard MSD transfer speeds. I could easily transfer a 1gb file to my phone in under 2 minutes with MTP, vs the 5-10 that it could take with standard mass storage device.
One other major selling point (and my personal favorite) is that the moment you plug your phone in to your PC it mounts as a storage device. No pulling down the notification shade to mount the drive. Also, you can access the files contained within from both your phone and your PC simultaneously without mounting/unmounting it.
let me use an example for the very last point....you can plug your phone's usb into your pc, transfer an app to your usb partition, pick up your phone, open root explorer and install it, all without having to tell it to mount or unmount.

Tried it with my brother's phone on his computer (windows) it was a bit slow (may be it was his computer).
But I see your point. The only problem is I don't use WIN (Linux -- I didn't try-- or OSX -- needs Android File Transfer which is nice and all but no access on command line--)
While working on that project, I read someone's complaint that AirDroid does not work over a USB cable. I know, that's kind of what the app's name would imply, right?
Anyway, AirDroid is awesome.
There are advantages to using AirDroid over a USB connection: for instance, it's much faster than a wireless connection and your data doesn't travel over your wireless network, and that's obviously safer.
So, I created this couple very basic tray/menu apps: one for OS X, one for Windows. Maybe one for Linux is your ask for it.
All it does it make AirDroid work over the USB cable.
Note that you will need to enable USB debugging on your device. Furthermore, on Windows, you will need to install your manufacturer's USB drivers.

Unfortunately, Bluetooth connections are very slow. I guess, with a rooted phone, it would be possible to install a network driver but again it would likely be extremely slow.

same problem here.
I've got usb debugging active and when I tap "start" on airdroid it asks me if I want to connect throught wifi or usb thetering.
I thought usb thetering must be active too, and when I switch it on, your application ask me to unplug and replug the phone, but nothing happens.

Victore88, thank you. Your post made me realize what's happening: indeed, recent versions of AirDroid stopped working over USB.
I sniffed AirDroid connections and no new port is being used, so I suspect AD stops listening on its local port after logging you in.
I sent an email to AirDroid's support; we will see if they can help.

computers says "no" - when trying to download the osx version.

OK, fixed.
Cool idea, but as I understand it, perhaps a little misguided in the approach.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but your target is work/school computers, right? I mean, for your home computer, why not just use WiFi? It's easier, which is why AirDroid went that way. But you want USB access for those computers where you can't get on the WiFi network, and/or you don't trust the air for security purposes.
I think you should make a browser extension for both Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. This way, people can use it with Firefox Portable and Chrome Portable from PortableApps.com and similar sites. If a browser extension can't access the system like that (I'm sure they can: both browsers have some kind of IE extension where they put IE's engine in one or more tabs) maybe a standalone portable app, either in PortableApps' open standard or in old-school single-.exe format (maybe with a .ini in the same directory).

Hey guys,
Do you have an active Non-American Netflix subscription and wish to watch American Netflix content?
Well If you have a Windows 8 pro/RT device I have a tool for you. The Netflix Region tool.
I have recently created a tool that will work both on Windows 8 pro devices as well as RT devices such as the Surface. However it is currently in Beta stages and will only work with the Surface RT/Pro, however it is quite simple to get it to work with other devices. We will discuss this further later on.
This is a very simple tool that will allow users in Canada (and Possibly other countries) watch American Netflix content. This tool is meant for Windows 8 devices because you must use the Netflix Modern App to gain access and not the web browser interface.
This is what the tool looks like.

Option 1 will turn on the ability to view American netflix content
Option 2 will turn off the ability to view American Netflix Content (You will want to turn it off when you are not using it because it may cause issues browsing the web with this tool turned on)
Option 3 will open up the network connections folder where you can see all of your network adapters. (This will be useful for users who do not have a Surface Pro/RT device Because you will need to rename your Network adapter to “Wi-Fi”. This is because the Surface pro/RT use the name Wi-Fi for there network card)
Option 4 will take you to the about page.
Option 5 will exit the tool
Users without a Surface device and want to use this tool read below!
If you are a user without a Surface Pro/RT you will need to use option 3 first to open up the network connections folder and select the network adapter you are currently using and rename it to “Wi-Fi”(Right click the network card and select rename). This is just the visual name of the network card it will not effect your network what so ever. Once you have changed the network card name you can now select option 1 and the tool will work just like if you have a Surface Pro/RT.

Not a bad idea!
I'll see if i can get a hold of some Canadian and UK DNS setting for the next update!
Rather than relying on us to rename our wireless devices why dont you make the tool so it can use wireless devices with a name other than "WiFi"
When you often use devices in an old building with 2 seperate access points of vastly differing speeds dependant on where you are it might well be handy to know that I am using Living Room or Study rather than Wi-Fi or Wi-Fi.....
Alternately why not just use the active connection?

working on it. Since I need this to work on the surface I am restricted to using Batch scripting and it is very limited. However I'm working on this.
Why not just figure out what DNS addresses are changing and add them to the hosts file, instead of mucking around with the DNS server settings.
I pretty much figured out how to fix the issue with having to change the name of your network card. Check droidkid.net for the latest info. I will release version 1.1 before the end of the week.
Thanks for sharing this with us, however it doesn't work for me.. I have a surface rt and living in Europe but whenever I login in the Netflix app it says that Netflix isn't available in my country..
I'm searching for a way to watch Netflix on my surface, it works on my laptop via this app called 'hola'
Thanks, it works in Mexico
Funciona Gracias
Unfotenately this tool doesn't work anymore. Seems the DNS servere have to be updated. To bad worked really well for a while.
