What's the best way to set the DPI to lower res?
Font's are too small in this but otherwise great! Lovin' this rom so far.
Might try out SlimKat after this one.

give me a few and ill send you in a message on how to do this...however if you want to try out a new rom im actually writing up the post for my latest....LiquidSmooth Rom and actually has a setting built in to change dpi in settings and makes things easier....the new build is built off of an all new kernel with even more i/o schedulers to choose from and built using gcc 4.9 toolchain and sabermod
you'r ea building fiend! I tried using an app from play store but no dice... the triangle to send an mms is small and with my big thumbs even opening browser from my home screen sometimes doesn't respond ...
Could give smooth a try, but it's work jumping to a new rom every time... I'm at least on TWRP now.

sent you a pm on how to manually change dpi of any rom you want...and the reason to why an app from playstore didnt work for changing dpi is explained in the message as well...there is a step you have to do in terminal emulator first
Rom Updated!!! check AOKP changelog for new stuff added
Thanks for this! I LOVE AOKP.
I know how to change the DPI but any suggestions on which one to use? I've toyed with a few that look ok with one exception - notifications are cut off in the drop down area. Assuming that's a DPI issue.

Thanks for the info - had one more quick question - when you open the physical keyboard, the onscreen keyboard still shows up. I know on an older version of AOKP I had a while back there was a way to change that, but I can't seem to find it. Any idea?

TIPS:
In 2.1 and up, for the full TouchWiz Experience, go to themes in the settings, apply TouchWiz Theme and reboot
Issues:
At the moment, the only issues found are the soft keyboard & home key not functioning properly. That should be resolved very quickly though with appropriate patches posted soon.

The lights & physical KB should be the same edits I think Matt but it's the HomeKey that's gone wonky on us this time.

dont know about home key but does long pressing home open the app-switcher? also in settings (maybe rom control) there should be an option labeled hardware buttons and you should be able to set a custom action for your home key. i will get the modified framework up that fixes the soft keyboard shortly!
Kb fix uploaded
The flash didn't work for me Matt but I'm going to try a direct install in a bit. As for the homekey, I'm getting no response at all from it. We'll get it though.....
I'm afraid replacing the file & reflashing didn't do it either Matt. straaaaange.......

may have a fix for home key not working. when you flashed rom did you flash gapps at the same time? here is my suggestion: flash rom (after correctly wiping), reboot, reboot BACK to recovery, flash gapps, reboot. maybe it will fix your button problem
Great Rom, very fast.
But I think the battery consumption is big then at other ROMS.
What do U think about this?

Running very smooth on my SR! :good:
Seems to be running very smoothly for me. I especially like the lack of bloat. I think this is the first ROM I've run in a long time where I didn't have to freeze/remove 8-10 apps I never use.
Odd that it doesn't come with a default music player.
The only other oddity that I've seen is "USB Connected" stays on, even after I disconnect the cable. more
Neither are, of course, deal breakers.
Nicely done and much appreciation for your work!
Issues I have with this ROM:
Developer Mode will not turn off resulting in a less than stable USB connection.
Nibbles 0.1.3 Kernel soft bricks with this ROM. Yes I know what I'm doing, and YES, it happened twice (not such a fluke, huh?). OC and AOSP should go hand and hand.
These two features alone killed it for me for this current release, but I'm sure I'll be back for more once this is fixed.
Peace.

Nibbles kernel on a 4.2.2 ROM? You sure you know what your doing? That kernel will soft brick on anything 4.2 and up. You need to be on CvD Moretz kernel for it to boot. If you read the thread you'll find all the info you need.

Thread is dead...
I thought I would be nice and share the builds I've been compiling for myself. I will try to make a new build when something new comes up. I'm only compiling this ROM, not developing it so please, give all the credit to the many real developers out there that make fun stuff like this for us to play with. Having said that, please no add this or fix that.
Flashing Instructions:
USE LATEST CWM RECOVERY
Wipe Data/Factory Reset
Wipe Cache
Wipe Dalvik Cache
Format System
Flash ROM
Flash 4.4 Gapps http://www.androidfilehost.com/?a=show&w=files&flid=7988
Reboot
Enjoy!
*To use the search feature in the dialer you must flash these KANGED gapps:
http://www.androidfilehost.com/?a=show&w=files&flid=9592
It is recommended that you flash the regular PA Gapps first, boot up, then reboot to recovery and flash the KANGED gapps over top
**Dirty Flashing (Flashing without wiping data) is not recommended**
As for the current build:
SD card working, using invisiblek's old roomservice.xml
Front and Rear Camera Working using the 4.3 camera for now
Includes the kitkat camera, front and rear cameras working
Basics like phone, sms, mms are all working
Working Netflix using this version, includes Chromecast support

Thank you bluezr1 for the tip!
*The current build allows the most recent version of Netflix to work

I really like this rom and doesn't have issues with downloading apps from the store.
Yes there is a kernel by GideonX. Seems to work just fine.

Is this better in anyone's opinion than the 11/13 build (in the original thread before it was closed). Just curious so I got an idea of what to expect.

Are you sure? tried an earlier build today and it caused reboots on snpachat, aosp camera, and instagram(every 4.3 rom did)
Is there a way to tether on 4.4 yet? Sort of a necessity for me... :-/

when i try to take a picture it reboots.
should i try a clean flash? i just did a dirty from a CM 10.2 nightly
How is the back camera? Last time I heard it worked but the pictures were fuzzy. Is that still the case?

just ran a few camera test and all seems great. pics are pretty good. sms and mms work for me. i reverted back to delvik because ART seems to mess up some apps (Tibu for instance) and personally i see no difference in performance. i have been running this ( 11/12 build) since it dropped and don't see a reason to change. EVERYTHING works.

Hi guys you may remmber me from the old FD days ...
Using ketut.kumajaya's kernel/vendor/device sources i was able to port carbon rom to the tab3 (SM-T310 for now) ... and i wanted to post the build and here i am , but the build isnt tested and i am not sure if its booting and thus you see the thread like this ... if you willing to risk your tab for soft bricking then try out my build .
Device : SM-T310 (for now only then i am gonna support SM-T31x
Base : Carbon with ketut.kumajaya's device props and trees
Adnroid version = 4.4.4
==============
How to flash :
1 . Use the latest available recovery
2 . Download rom and place on sdcard
3 . Reboot to recovery
4 . Make a full wipe/data factory reset
5 . Goto mounts and storage and format system in recovery
6 . flash the rom
7 . wipe cache
8 . wipe dalvik cache
9. reboot and tell me the result all dependes on you only :good:
once the build is tested and booting i will add all SM-T31x family and update this thread so :fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed:

Hi, boots and runs fine. Sound-wifi-bt all worked fine. Played a quick game of temple run which played OK. Appears to be a bit of lag, have been using unofficial cm 11, which works well for me and no lag. Only problem was camera not working, tried various camera apps from store, none would work.
Sorry couldn't write more but am just on my way out.
Hope it helped a bit and thanks for your work.
I'm not a dev, but I know the camera in this kit kat ROM works. Don't know if can pull the camera module, but it's worth a try.

making a new build right now thanks alot
new build up
Front and rear camera now working. If you already tried v1....you need to do a clean flash to get the camera to work.
BTW, I have not experienced any lag. Reinstalled 75 user apps using TiBu without problems. Very nice build, thank you!?

Quick update, running with blackhawk kernel and everything is Lightning fast and smooth. No fc and really love the extra carbon settings. Keeping it as my daily, will post an update in a few days.
Update: been using this ROM for 10 days now and I must admit that I am impressed by the performance stability and features. Tablet has reset on a couple of occasions after becoming unresponsive, but I have had the same issue with other ROMs such as the cm11 one by gr8note (hope that is how you spell it) as well as TW ROMs so seems par for the course for this tablet. I have found very little difference between this and cm11 with regards to performance etc but I personally prefer this ROM due to some of the carbon options. Hope you continue to update and develop this as it is really nice. Thx for all of your hard work.
Would love to try this out but d/l links are 404. Anyone haz mirror? /highfive

I'm running the same setup as you and was wondering what changes you may have made to the kernel.

None at all I left everything vanilla on install. You could possibly tweak some of the settings but I personally don't have a lot of time or interest in advanced tweaks these days.
Rom
Does anyone have this ROM handy?
All the links are dead.
