Thread is dead...
I thought I would be nice and share the builds I've been compiling for myself. I will try to make a new build when something new comes up. I'm only compiling this ROM, not developing it so please, give all the credit to the many real developers out there that make fun stuff like this for us to play with. Having said that, please no add this or fix that.
Flashing Instructions:
USE LATEST CWM RECOVERY
Wipe Data/Factory Reset
Wipe Cache
Wipe Dalvik Cache
Format System
Flash ROM
Flash 4.4 Gapps http://www.androidfilehost.com/?a=show&w=files&flid=7988
Reboot
Enjoy!
*To use the search feature in the dialer you must flash these KANGED gapps:
http://www.androidfilehost.com/?a=show&w=files&flid=9592
It is recommended that you flash the regular PA Gapps first, boot up, then reboot to recovery and flash the KANGED gapps over top
**Dirty Flashing (Flashing without wiping data) is not recommended**
As for the current build:
SD card working, using invisiblek's old roomservice.xml
Front and Rear Camera Working using the 4.3 camera for now
Includes the kitkat camera, front and rear cameras working
Basics like phone, sms, mms are all working
Working Netflix using this version, includes Chromecast support

Glad to see another development thread for cm 11!! Thanks for your efforts!
I believe I saw in the other thread that we have to use CWM to flash and can't use TWRP... is that still the case? I prefer and use TWRP, so changing really isn't desired.

Yup still is the case til TWRP updates, CWM Touch is actually pretty good I recently switched from TWRP
Wont these builds be alike with the tval builds too? But thanks for your help with kit kat, the community really appreciates it.

I really like this rom and doesn't have issues with downloading apps from the store.
Yes there is a kernel by GideonX. Seems to work just fine.

Is there a way to tether on 4.4 yet? Sort of a necessity for me... :-/

should i try a clean flash? i just did a dirty from a CM 10.2 nightly
How is the back camera? Last time I heard it worked but the pictures were fuzzy. Is that still the case?
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
just ran a few camera test and all seems great. pics are pretty good. sms and mms work for me. i reverted back to delvik because ART seems to mess up some apps (Tibu for instance) and personally i see no difference in performance. i have been running this ( 11/12 build) since it dropped and don't see a reason to change. EVERYTHING works.

Hi
Thanks to Temasek and webdroidmt for info, native USB OTG works again.
Thanks to NetFluke, who managed to implement Timur Merhvarz patches, we have DAC hotplug support with volume adjustment. NetFluke also made kernel with OTG charging.
New 4.4.2 works really really smooth, ART and built in Superuser work.
How to install:
1. Reboot into recovery (I use TWRP 2.6.3.0)
2. Select advance wipe: dalvik cache, system, cache and data. Basically everything except internal storage. Just in case
3. Flash rom and gapps
4. Wipe dalvik cache and cache
5. Reboot
How to enable ART:
1. Select settings
2. Tap 7 times build number to enable developers options
3. In developer options tap on runtime and select ART
4. Reboot and wait
I recommend to enable ART before install any new applications. Works for me since rom is built.
Links:
All builds are here, just take the latest. 4.4.2 builds are in 442 sub folder. For rom with USB DAC support look here.
Gapps compatible with ART:
gapps-proper-art
Recently I use minimal gapps (playstore, syncing apks and libs, AOSP calendar sync) from here. I don't really need face unlock, Google now, search, etc. But you should be fine with full gapps. You can find two flashable gapps which I use here.
Gapps partially compatible with ART:
gapps-kk-20131119.zip
gapps-kk-20131119.zip - mirror
gdrive mirror for all files
If you wish to try CyanogenMod Screencast:
- first join the CyanogenMod community
- then download CyanogenMod Screencast
I have Linux laptop dedicated for development and plan is to make clean build every few days or when CM team submit noticeable changes, test on my device, upload and post a link.
Changelog:
- search is not force closing anymore
- Newsstand works
- lock screen shortcuts
- expanded desktop
- buttons and layout
- quick launch shortcuts
- fn buttons
- more options in Interface menu (battery percentage...)
- OTG support
- DAC support
- OTG charging support with separate kernel
About ART, if someone haven't read already. May experience is exactly the same, a bit slower installation or first application start, much smoother later.
In case that something went wrong, you can restore dalvik without wipe:
$ su
# echo -n libdvm.so > /data/property/persist.sys.dalvik.vm.lib
# reboot
Huge thanks to fattire for his guide and patient answers and of course to the CM team.

For now, no difference. Just another CM11 unofficial build. You may try this one, from someone else or build your own.
First I built for my self then realize that some users have problems with other builds. To avoid off topic or giving support for something I didn't test, I made decision to open new topic and share my builds here.
New build is made over night but didn't have time to flash and test. Will do after work.

Gapps, linked in first post, work with ART and I prefer smaller version. I can link also 245MB version but could you confirm that works with ART?
P.S.
I setup everything on my machine and new build is done much quicker now.

give me a few and ill send you in a message on how to do this...however if you want to try out a new rom im actually writing up the post for my latest....LiquidSmooth Rom and actually has a setting built in to change dpi in settings and makes things easier....the new build is built off of an all new kernel with even more i/o schedulers to choose from and built using gcc 4.9 toolchain and sabermod
you'r ea building fiend! I tried using an app from play store but no dice... the triangle to send an mms is small and with my big thumbs even opening browser from my home screen sometimes doesn't respond ...
Could give smooth a try, but it's work jumping to a new rom every time... I'm at least on TWRP now.

sent you a pm on how to manually change dpi of any rom you want...and the reason to why an app from playstore didnt work for changing dpi is explained in the message as well...there is a step you have to do in terminal emulator first

Thanks for this! I LOVE AOKP.
I know how to change the DPI but any suggestions on which one to use? I've toyed with a few that look ok with one exception - notifications are cut off in the drop down area. Assuming that's a DPI issue.

Hi, boots and runs fine. Sound-wifi-bt all worked fine. Played a quick game of temple run which played OK. Appears to be a bit of lag, have been using unofficial cm 11, which works well for me and no lag. Only problem was camera not working, tried various camera apps from store, none would work.
Sorry couldn't write more but am just on my way out.
Hope it helped a bit and thanks for your work.
I'm not a dev, but I know the camera in this kit kat ROM works. Don't know if can pull the camera module, but it's worth a try.

Quick update, running with blackhawk kernel and everything is Lightning fast and smooth. No fc and really love the extra carbon settings. Keeping it as my daily, will post an update in a few days.
Update: been using this ROM for 10 days now and I must admit that I am impressed by the performance stability and features. Tablet has reset on a couple of occasions after becoming unresponsive, but I have had the same issue with other ROMs such as the cm11 one by gr8note (hope that is how you spell it) as well as TW ROMs so seems par for the course for this tablet. I have found very little difference between this and cm11 with regards to performance etc but I personally prefer this ROM due to some of the carbon options. Hope you continue to update and develop this as it is really nice. Thx for all of your hard work.

What works: Everything stock plus a few CM features.
What's broken: GPS?
What's here (1/03+):
Battery % indicator in notification bar, choosable style
A bunch of behind the scenes stuff
Trebuchet
Status bar brightness control
Single-down swipe for settings panel for swipes on the right side of status bar
Privacy Guard (including Privacy section in settings)
CM File Manager
Advanced Reboot
CM Superuser controls
Double-tap status bar or lockscreen slider to sleep
Notification light controls (including custom lights for individual apps)
Codec enhancements
Option not to have the screen wake on plug
ADB over network
Voice wakeup
Lots of CM app Material design changes

Thanks for the build! Can you maybe say if it will be possible to dirty flash new builds? (Maybe with only flashing SuperSU afterwards) That‘d be nice.
Tapagetalkt via Nameless 2.0 vom i9300
I dirty flashed it over AOSP at first and it was fine, YMMV.

Also, I didn't try NOT flashing GAPPS, so you might need to flash those, too.

Clear caches, wipe, and try flashing again. If that doesn't do it, I'll see what I can do in the morning.
Lots of stuff is getting merged now, thus a lot of stuff is going to be broken for a few weeks.

I always wipe cache and data. I don't ever "dirty flash". Bootloader is the latest and so is TWRP.
---------- Post added at 08:57 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:56 PM ----------
Wait for it. Turns out I just need to do the same thing over and over again until it worked. I flashed no less than 5 times. Weird.

You did very well for your first ROM post.
Features are starting to pile up. Not enough to make me switch to CM12 on my Nexus 5, but it's getting there.

Thanks for this. You are right, not a lot of features yet, but interesting. I am trying it out now on my Nexus 7. The advanced reboot menu made it worth looking at for me. I know that I can do that with an external app, but this is a bit cleaner. I will have to see if I can live without the stock launcher though. I am running Nova on the N7.
Any alternate Kernel for cm 12?

Trebuchet is pretty stock, and the Google Now launcher is available, too.

I don't see it, either. It's usually enabled in the developer options and it isn't there.

Well, I don't see it either. I read somewhere that it is supposed to be there. You are correct that it should be in Developer Options, but it isn't. Oh well.
First of all, I would like to say: what a great ROM!! But on the Google now launcher is there any way I can make the search bar appear on the top when in landscape mode, rather than the transparent version off the the left/right?
Thanks.

GAPPS-Download
(plz try by yourself)

Official changelogs:
https://download.lineageos.org/klteduos/changes/
Installation
1. be sure you have a custom recovery like TWRP (I use v3.0.0.0 for klte) or similar
Everyone using those Nightly's is advised to use TWRP 3.0.0.0 for SM-G900F only!!!
Wipe/Clear data/cache function is not working in TWRP 3.0.2.1 and higher!!!
2. download desired NIGHTLY and GAPPS via link from above
3. put files on your SD-card and enter recovery mode via 3 button-combo or extended menu
3. wipe data/cache/dalvik, format system
4. flash Nightly
5. flash GAPPS (if Aroma is faster than 10 seconds, flash again. Aroma full installer aborts atm)
6. wipe cache/dalvik again (optional)
7. restart and have fun with your NIGHTLY

Okay guys,
here's my report for the nightly from 10th of August.
As I can say, everything is working soft and properly except of some small issues:
- multi-user-profiles are not adjustable
When I try to set a picture or change the account name a toast-message with "contact does not exist" appears. Profiles are shown as "Owner", "New User" and "Guest".
- when in 2nd user-account sometimes new installed apps are force closed
First time I noticed this, was when installing the new user-account, google framework had a fc, but afterwards everything worked great.
Second fc was on installation of SwiftKey Keyboard. To use it, I had to switch back to "owner", then the Keyboard is shown in the options
- Bluetooth music play on my car is stuttering, when phone is in use, f. e. when radar control app is in background. BT phone was fine in my car, but I read about other users, who had the same issues with their headsets.
Thats all so far.
I hope we can start a little discussion on your experiences and faced problems.
It will be great if someone can find an official way to report issues directly to the builders of this ROM.
However, the progress of development of this ROM is remarkable!

As you can read here its a known issue that is related on missing drivers for the button sensor. So waiting is the only option that us non-developing-skills-blessed-users will have.

Yes you're right.
The CM Camera is stripped down to the bones very much. Just use third-party-apps like open camera or original google camera instead to more features. There's another project called Camera Next which is a port from the OnePlusOne. You'll find it on XDA.
Sadly, they all are not as capable as the Samsung Cam, but for a quickshot, they're fine.
THX for your report.

What do you mean with separate icons? Do you think about data traffic arrows? My icons are changing from H, H+ to LTE as they should.

Yes, but as you can see I only see the arrows and not the LTE indicator, I think may be its because my sim is on roaming.

Hi, Thanks for the Rom. It works great. I am just facing one issue.
I had Philz touch recovery and after I installed this rom, its seems like the phone isnt rooted anymore. I tried updating the recovery to latest TWRP and it didnt work and also to CM recovery, that also didnt work. Any suggestions to get the root back?
Thanks,

Hi,
first have a look in developer settings and switch on systemwide root access. Sometimes it get lost when flashing a new recovery. I use the TWRP 2.8.6.0 recovery. It is not buildt for the S5 duos, but it works perfect. With this recovery I never lost root access by flashing a new ROM.
BTW, CM provides a custom recovery since the Nightly 13th of August. Anyone tried this?
Please report back.

Facing the same issue but its not this massive. just my opinion. If you like testing to get Xposed working for our Duos variant with CM 12.1 u r able to set new volume specs with V4A.
Pls report back.
...but as seen, getting Xposed working is easy, Viper 4 Android is not!
Another bug, Bluetooth disconnected and connected for few seconds randomly and shutter while audio playing. Any temporary fix please. Thanks.*
