Fix for T-Mobile LTE? - Verizon HTC One (M8)

Is there a workaround or any suggestions to get everything functional such as calls etc.
As of now only data works but you can't receive or send out messages, make calls etc.
When connected to H+ everything works flawlessly and the carrier shows, when connected to LTE only data works nothing else and the phone can't identify what carrier is being used.

UPDATE:
The issue seems to be that Verizon by default is locking the GSM radio. Users are reporting the same in the Moto X and Droid Ultra forum. Users using 4.4.2 on T-Mobile with a Verizon device.

They are SIM unlocked as I'm using one but it seems the band we need for LTE isn't playing well.

Was curious if anyone else was having this issue. Any thoughts that it might be related to skipping Verizon activation? When I got the phone, wasn't activated and on first turn on it prompted activating Verizon Sim but I exited out and just popped in T-Mobile Sim.

AFAIK, LTE (unless the carrier is using voLTE) is a data only network. Verizon uses LTE for data and CDMA for calls and text.
Verizon seems to only allow GSM/UMTS or CDMA/LTE on the M8 at one time, there doesn't seem to be a true Global mode that allows GSM/UMTS and LTE to run at the same time.
That would explain why people are reporting either LTE or calls/texting (which, as above mentioned, only works on 2G/3G (be that CDMA or GSM))
The question is, is there a way to get around this? On the S3/S4 there was an app called phoneinfo which showed more modes than the Mobile Network settings menu. Is there such a thing for the M8?
This is quite disappointing news for me, since this is the first Verizon phone I'm aware of that has the 1800MHz LTE band, and that's the band used in Australia where I'm headed soon. I was excited about being able to finally use LTE there! I guess I'll have a choice between LTE and calls/text like all those in this thread using T-Mobile.

Hoping the best that this would be the fix for the GSM
while you edit the data as well I believe

Will never get 4G LTE on any other carrier besides Verizon in the US. Never have. Never will. Those radio bands are blocked at chip level.

More than likely it is same as Verizon. Won't happen till they have voice and data both over AWS network. Currently on Verizon data is on LTE and voice is on CDMA. If can get into signal settings may be a way to lock the voice section in. It is not on LTE. Verizon has had the two linked since TBolt. Others have had a problem doing this. Has to be able to do dual band at same time. Also shouldn't get LTE at all if not in T-Mobile AWS area.

Unless T-Mobile rolls out voLTE and the M8 is compatible, the VZW M8 won't work for both call/sms and LTE data simultaneously. The other solution would be figuring out a new mode that allows LTE and GSM/UMTS to work together, maybe a software update will do that, but something tells me VZW isn't running to make our lives easier in this regard (Unless they start offering international 4G LTE roaming, then they'll have to fix this issue - and that might be on the horizon as this is the first VZW phone to have LTE bands that VZW doesn't use nor has any plans to use, such band 3 1800MHz)

Thunderbolt to New Cricket 4G LTE

There's is now 4G coverage in the Houston area.My thunderbolt is already fully flash 3G and stable. Want to enable 4G on this phone. Cricket says requires sim card to work. The only sim cards are with the new LG and Samsung S3 by cricket. I know this is possible by using a unlocked 4G cdma LTE phone with sim slot. Does anyone have a unlocked phone on 4G cricket successfully working!!!

This is in the wrong thread. Verizon 4g will only work with Verizon. Verizon owns the entire 700mhz band that 4g functions off. This makes it so no other network can use Verizon's 4g

I dont think this is true as verizon can still lease their spectrum to other carriers like Straight Talk to piggy back off their network. The biggest problem for him is going to get a non-approved 4g device on verizons network. Verizon does not want people taking flagship devices to other discount carriers. Networks like Cricket dont actually own any spectrum, they just lease it from the bigger carriers at a discount. But verizon only allows a select group of ESN's to connect to it, usually for crappier phones. Some people will go so far as to clone their ESN to get it to work, but that requires special tools developed for your phone and can be quite tricky.

Well its pretty obvious that Verizon isn't leasing any part of their lte spectrum since there isn't one single optional carrier that a Verizon 4g phone will work with.

Is it possible to unlock all GSM bands to but used with Cricket 4G LTE service?
A possible NV Edit is probably all that is required
If I installed any other Sim Card Tmobile for example you get sim card unknown error and no signal
This is being done on other Verizon 4G LTE phones where people doing NV SEEM edits and unlocking all GSM bands. Using with prepaid carriers like Simple Mobile

Can the bands the radio receives be changed by software? Isn't the radio physically limited to a range of frequencies?

I was pretty sure that the radio was locked in to stay at the 700mhz spectrum that Verizon owns. I wouldn't be the least but surprised if it were locked in using hardware as well.

If memory serves, Cricket's LTE is courtesy of Verizon, I read it I think on Engadget a while back... Either way, it goes along with Verizon's Rural Coverage Plan to work with regional carriers to bring LTE to places where people would never expect it.
T-Mo works with AT&T phones because both are 1800Mhz or whatever for EDGE, so I would think if Sprint LTE is 700Mhz....

I doubt Sprint is using 700 they are probably using spectrum they got from the nextel acquisition (not looking stupid now lol). And of Sprint was using 700 and the had an lte roaming agreement, which they don't, with Verizon..... sprint lte phones would be working in allot more places, which they aren't.

If the info from the above article is correct you can see Sprint lte is not compatible with Verizon or ATT. In my searching I also found that apple made 3 different variants of the iPhone 5 with different lte frequency combinations.

those other Verizon 4g Lte phones, like the moto Bionic, have radios and antenna that support those GSM frequencies, and the engineering software tools to perform those tasks have been leaked.
Afaik, but I haven't looked in a while, after making those seem edits it unlocks Gsm/Edge for Att, T-Mobile and global roaming. I think it also enables hspa for Att but not T-Mobile due to frequencies the bionic's radio supports or doesn't support. It does not enable Lte for any other carrier.
its my understanding that the radio chips and antennas in the TB only support Cdma/Evdo and VZW's upper 700mhz block LTE
It also doesnt help that ril for the thunderbolt is closed source because of the svdo capabilities in it.

Dropping from LTE to H/H+ During Calls

Curious if it's just me or if it's the One/CM11S...
No issues with LTE, but the connection drops to H or H+ when I'm on a call... Then picks back up immediately after the call ends.
I'm new to AT&T, coming from Verizon, so I wasn't sure if this was typical... So I tested my wife's G3 and a friend's S5 and they both maintain the LTE connection.*
Thanks in advance.*
This is working as intended, the phone or your carrier does not support Voice over LTE (VoLTE). To my knowledge, OPO doesn't have VoLTE just yet, hopefully it will since the hardware is obviously there but requires the baseband to enable VoLTE.
Ok... coming from Verizon I am not that familiar with GSM stuff. On Verizon the voice and data connection were not so linked... so if I was on the call, the LTE connection was maintained for data still. As long as I know this is normal right now, I am ok... was just concerned it was me/my device.
Thanks.
Verizon doesn't support volte, your calls are done over CDMA. Since they are different technologies you should be able to maintain lte data. Which is good since like 2g gsm, CDMA doesn't support both data and calls at the same time. ATT is rolling out volte but only to certain phones. Since att just sees the oneplus as an unknown device, it's probably not allowed volte yet if it's capable.

Sadly, the phone I used before the Nexus 5 doesn't have VoLTE as well. The N5 and OPO definitely has the hardware for VoLTE but it has to be enabled in the baseband. Hopefully OPO/CM flips the switch and allows VoLTE.
Interesting information, I appreciate it.

If you read the thread before posting, VoLTE is not yet supported. It is unsure whether or not the OPO will support VoLTE. OPO certainly has the hardware capabilities to support VoLTE but it is up to CyanogenMod and OnePlus to activate it via the baseband. Also your area must have VoLTE with your carrier.
Before OPO, or any phone for that matters, supports VoLTE operators must implement it first.

Its already being deployed in several markets. I live in New York and its deployed here, just the phone's baseband isnt activated for VoLTE yet.
But yeah it depends on phone as well as the carrier.

I am hesitant to mess with it since this seems to be the norm for GSM providers like AT&T (I just wasn't aware, since my past experience has been Verizon (2.5 years) and Sprint (~14 years) and both are CDMA providers).
That said... this is the setting in question (see screenshot).

Mine is the same as your screenshot. I just changed it to LTE/GSM auto (PRL) since that's what my AT&T S4 was set at with the same SIM card. Let's see if that fixes the stability between it switching between H, H+ and 4G frequently.

No, the iPhone 5 doesn't support SVLTE (Simultaneous Voice and LTE). Almost all other LTE phones on Verizon support SVLTE. I had the Droid DNA on VZW and it absolutely supported SVLTE.
It was stated when the iPhone 5 was announced that it wouldn't support SVLTE.

AT&T SIM on VZW S6
Hello,
I have the same question how AT&T SIM would behave on VZW S6.
1. Which APN Are you using? Are you using phone or pta APN?
2. When receiving incoming calls, does the format look like example: +8085551212 missing 1?
your response is appreciated!!!

I got 4g lte .. I used both settings and when I make calls out it drops to 1x and then when receive calls I have 3G. Seems like the pta settings works better didn't see and h or h+ which. Did on the phone apn settings. I have a Vzw iPhone since I work there thought the s6 would be easy since know the turbo works. There's something missing and can't find it. Everything works I do get the +then the number tho. But haven't had issues sending or receiving texts. Just it should drop to 4g when on the phone and should work whether I get or receive calls. Minor issues happening I did switch it to gsm instead of world that may have been why h or h+ didn't occur with pta. I'll update what I figure out if you all do so as well
i remember seeing it somewhere, but can't find it when i need it, how do i permanently disable the non-verizon sim warning when using any other sim in the vzw gs6?
(i have succeeded on a one time basis by force stopping activation agent, but there's a permanent fix if i'm not mistaken)
Verizon variant doesn't support AT&T's original LTE layer which is Band 17. So you won't see LTE on your Verizon variant unless AT&T has either Band 2 or Band 4 deployed in your market.

I think Band 17 is the issue. Most of AT&T LTE is on Band 17.
I am currently connected to LTE (Band 4) on my Verizon G6, using a AT&T sim.

Using Verizon's S6 on Tmobile's network

Hi all, has anyone here tried or been successful in getting the data or lte over voice calls with Verizon's S6 using Tmobile? I have Tmobile and trying to use my gf's unlocked Verizon Galaxy S6. Almost everything works fine except that while on voice call, the signal drops to 1x and I can not simultaneously use data or receive mms. Are there any fixes for this? Any help would be appreciated as she is planning to switch from Verizon to Tmobile and I would love to just reuse the phone on Tmobile.
PS: Sorry not sure if this should be in a carrier specific thread. If so, not sure which one to choose since it sort of dual carrier concern

T-Mobile LTE in US isn't working...ideas?

I imported the 8141 from Clove in the UK. So far, my only real issue is I have yet to see it connect to LTE. I've seen "4G" and "4G+", but no LTE...which is a problem because I can barely pick up a signal other than LTE in my area. I checked and confirmed it's using the correct APN (fast.t-mobile.com). I'm on the 110/unlimited/unlimited $30/month prepaid plan and confirmed I haven't hit the LTE cap. If I put the SIM back in my Moto X Pure/Play, it hops on LTE without a problem.
Everything I've read says the radio should support T-Mobile's frequencies. Is there another setting somewhere I need to change? Do I need to flash another region's stock ROM (and is that even possible yet)? Did I get a lemon? Do I need to hold it a certain way like whatever iPhone it was a couple years back?
Any and all suggestions are welcome.
4G+ is the UK's LTE as far as iconography is concerned. Have you done a speediest on 4G+?
I've noticed the same thing, but I (as mentioned above) thought that LTE and 4G+ were synonymous. I think the only reason to flash a region based image would be to enable radio bands that are disabled based on location (which may be in this case).
Works fine here. Lower Manhattan using same version.
4G is LTE in US.
Download LTE Discovery and you'll be able to see if it is connected to LTE or HSPA(+). Mine, also from Clove, is just fine with AT&T LTE.

4G is basically the same thing as LTE in this case. 4G includes WiMax and LTE. So when you see "4G" it means you're using LTE. The same goes with 4G+ - LTE-Advanced (LTE+).
I have LTE logo on my Z3 while Z5 Premium shows 4G while using the same network.
4G is LTE in europe. We did not have that silliness that some 3,5G was called 4g. Also there is no band limitations on XZ Premium.
For app to check which band of spectrum you are connected to, please use Cellmapper app (from my signature).
If you wish to see different icon in there, you could flash Customized DE firmware which has "LTE" icon. But this has only cosmetic effect.
Instead of making a new thread, anyone knows if VoLTE works with the XZ Premium for T-Mobile?
Currently no. You need region or operator specific image Flashed (oem.sin) but there is none for XZ Premium.
But there is hope as there is t-mobile us specific modem configuration in all region images.. which will be loaded when you have correct oem image Flashed.
