Hi guys!
Flashed the latest r37 franko kernel and my phone's min temp is stuck @ 60 degrees and raising from that point on. Anyone facing this issue?
And lost the smoothness in games and other GPU intensive apps. Per-App Setting doesn't seem to be sticking too...
Any similar experiences or is it just my phone...
Reverted to r36 for now..
Thanks in advance!
Try re downloading and re flashing. No issues elsewhere anyone has mentioned

Thx for the suggestion...
Did exactly that...Ran the fresh r37 for three days and tried re-flashing after a second download attempt.
Ran it for like two days...still the issues persisted..
Strange. Try the linaro version in the other development forum. It's pretty much the same apart from has faux sound so doesn't have the annoying audio clipping issues

Ok...will give it a go and see how it turns out. [emoji106]

My phone sometime the lower portion becomes unresponsive and sometimes when in an app I can no longer scroll down it only allows scrolling left and right: even in apps like Gmail.
I'm using stock ROM, I'm tested the issue with several kernels but no result. The problem gods away when I lock the screen and unlock I again.

I have the exact same problem. Been trying different ROM:s and it's the same on everyone. I believe it's a hardware problem.

Yeah, how do I manage it?
Flash a different kernel. Glados, Matrix, Franco or stock.
Is this issue confirmed on everyone's device? I feel like calling up Samsung if it is indeed a hardware issue.
Anyone else confirm your screen gets erroneous and unresponsive on certain kernels?

This happens to me at completely stock.
Did you buy your device new? Is this a hardware defect? Can anyone confirm this happened on Gingerbread?

Same issue while on stock GB and ICS, stock kernel. Problem goes away when screen is locked.
On average it bugs me a few times a week when I'm typing. Might have happened many more times, but as locking the screen clears the problem away, it could have gone undetected.
Weird never experienced on my nexus s i've tried GB .. ICS and a whole bunch of ROM+ KERNEL combination my screen works perfect maybe it's only affecting a particular bunch of hand sets .. idk? :/
it happens to me every now and then, usually while typing. generally i have to turn it off completely to fix it, which really sucks.
GB 2.3.7 and whatever the last GB matrix kernal. nothing running over or under.
Ya I have the same issue but for be it only happens when I plug in a USB or auxiliary cable ..oddly not my headphones (klipsch s4)
I've been debating calling into Samsung but haven't had time! Has anyone had luck!?
Edit: I'm running stock 2.3.6 i9020a

Currently the phone is on CM10, but this would happen on any rom. The phone is frozen with the bottom 4 touch buttons lit up. The only way to fix it is a battery pull and power the phone back on. Not sure what is causing this, but would like to know if anyone has found a fix for this issue yet. Thanks.
Its a known bug in CM10 and probably not a hardware problem. CM10 is still a beta (though a very good one) and quirks like this are expected.
Some versions of cm10 are more stable than others. Ive been using the 8 - 14 build and it has a minimal amount of freezing like this.

Thank god
My phone has the same issue, I thought it was H/W issue because I accidentaly dropped my phone very often. Glad to know it's just a rom bug, or I'll have to buy myself a new phone.
It was happening on stock ics also though. Did you guys see that on stock also?
Set your min cpu to 384Mhz, That fixed mine for sure.

I know a ton of people are having issues with some of the more recent version of this FM but my problem is a little different. When I go to wake my screen it immediately shuts back off. I'm not sure what the cause might be but its quite frustrating considering it is the only issue I've encountered so far. This can happen multiple times in a row before it decides to finally stay on. Any ideas what might be the cause? I even wiped to make sure it wasn't an app but it still persists. If it helps at all I am on CM version 10-20120815-UNOFFICIAL-ville. If you guys need any other info I'd be more than happy to provide it.

You should consider flashing the latest nightly and see if the problem still occurs. I am running the latest nightly as my daily driver and have no problems at all beside minor wakelocks

Whoa yeah agree with above post. You're on a build that is over a month old and isn't even an official release. Download the newest build from here http://get.cm/?device=ville . You should be able to flash right over your existing rom without losing data, just wipe cache and dalvik cache after you flash. There are many, many improvements since the build you are currently running.
Thanks for the tip guys. I downloaded the latest ROM to my phone some reason I still have the same issue. I'm not really sure what's going on now I did a wipe but that didn't seem to help last time. You guys think an app caused this or is it hardware? I recall something similar happening back on my old phone when I used to mess with the processor speed.

Have you messed around with the screen brightness and accidentally set lowest brightness to 0 ?
I once did that....
I wish that was all but sadly I have no clue what the issue is.

Hello all,
Semi-noob here, I've rooted and flashed my phone to the Stable version of Cynogenmod, on Android 4.1.2. I haven't added the Lightning Kernel, only because of a pretty annoying issue: the phone randomly shuts down for no apparent reason. I ran a search and didn't see much about this issue so here goes: doesn't matter what's going on with the phone, it will suddenly (and very randomly) freeze for a moment, then go black, the Samsung logo will appear, it'll vibrate, then kaput.
To turn it back on, I have to do one of 2 things:
-hold the Power button for a LONG time;
-remove battery, reinsert, hold Power button normally.
So what gives? Did I flash something wrong? Should I reflash the ROM? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated,
Cheers!
I'd think it's the screen of death.
But when I look at this more, I think of what the oc, governor and scheduler are.

The stable version is not very stable. Look for the latest nightly, its much better.
For the latest cm 10 10.1 and 10.2 go here http://www.goo.im/devs/cm/t769/nightly
Look closely at the dates to get the right one.

In retrospect, I should have thought of that, thanks! I changed it to Performance from Interactive after reading this last week and since then no shutdowns at all. Hopefully this is the end of that annoying bug. Merci! :good:
Whoops, no sooner had I written that than my phone shutdown again. WTF? Anything in particular I should do to stop this?
Try the latest cm 10 nightly? That is what I'm running on 2 phones with no shutdowns like your describing.

Yeah, I might flash it when I get back to the US, I am on a long-term business trip and last thing I need is to brick the phone while in France!
I've had similar issues with CM10 "stable". I knew the rom was at fault. I haven't tried the nightlies, but that would have been my next guesses too. I've been looking for a daily driver, and despite some hiccups with MIUI, I've been pretty happy with it.
The past week or so my phone has been noticeably laggy. I originally noticed while using Google keyboard. Then noticed occasional but frequent slow touch responsiveness issues. Performed a couple factory resets and even updated to 4.4.3 while continuing to see the problem. Has anyone else noticed issues? Are there any other fixes? Thanks for any tips or tricks.

You might want to try messing with CPU settings if you have root, (changing the governor, etc.), and see if that helps. If it doesn't, I would try a custom kernel like faux123's or franco kernel. If you don't want to try that, you might want to try and measure how much CPU the phone is using when its idle to help diagnose the issue.
I personally use stock 4.4.3 with faux123 kernel with the intillidemand governor and have no problems with lag.

If you do a factory reset and you're running the stock kernel and you haven't modified any system files and you don't have any user apps installed yet, that would sound like a hardware problem to me. If you have any user apps installed one of those might be the culprit. I'm running the stock kernel on 4.4.3 and performance is pretty damn good! And I haven't use a stock kernel in some time. Flashed the boot, radio and system images last night and everything is working fine. If you know how to flash the factory image you could try that, it can sometimes be more reliable than the results you get when doing the OTA. Otherwise... might need to do a RMA.

I've been using this rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2633978 and stock kernel and I have no lag. I did have a little using stock odex rom from update.. Idk if your rooted & have recovery but if so try a rom.. I'm very pleased with the way this rom I'm on now feels. Its been great. Also not sure what all you have running app wise but reboot a few times a day may help..I'm quite sure you already know that..

Thanks for the help.
I am rooted with CWM. When I first noticed the issues I was on I believe Mahdi with with ROM kernel. I'm sure it's not the ROM since I use Mahdi quite a bit. Performed a few factory resets without resolve. Fastbooted 4.4.3. Without resolve. Unrooted and rerooted. Still lags. I don't recall a specific downloaded app that could have been the issue but did not Google recover this last reset and I think it may be better.
I'll post back after a bit.
Thanks again.

Perform a trim on your flash storage. Hopefully you know how to use adb.
adb shell
am broadcast -a android.intent.action.ACTION_IDLE_MAINTENANCE_START
exit
Wait 30 seconds to a minute.
adb logcat -d | grep -i fstrim
It should now tell you that it trimmed your storage. Reboot and pray that it helped.
