[Q] Hot Spot not working on Skyrocket - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

I had my S2 unlocked by AT&T when the contract expired (I moved to a Note 3). I have used the S2 internationally with local SIMs for phone calls and 3G access without problems. However, I recently tried to use it as a hot spot and received a message (I don't have the exact wording) saying that either my phone would not work as a hot spot OR the SIM could not work as a hot spot. I tried the SIM in a friend's phone and it worked fine as a hot spot. So, it appears to be the phone. My S2 has the menu options for working as a hot spot, so was I doing something wrong or is there a problem with using the Skyrocket as a hot spot?
My Android version is 4.1.2.

SGS Bell i9000m on Telus issues

Hey everyone,
This is my last gasp and possibly resolving my issue. I have a Bell GT-I9000m phone. It is unlocked, rooted with CM7 2.3.4 JVK. I usually use this phone on the Rogers network but recently moved to a rural area.
Rogers' coverage in rural areas in my province is horrid. I decided to take advantage of Telus' 6gb data plan offer, thinking I could put my new SIM in the phone and everything would be great.
At the Telus kiosk in a near town I got my plan and made a couple calls on the phone to ensure it was working. When I got into my car I initiated the Telus APN and boom HSPA was enabled and everything was great. About 15 minutes later I noticed my signal bars diminish to zero and the phone fell back to emergency calls only and I could not get signal back by rebooting or anything. When searching networks ROGERS was the only one that was seen as available.
This morning I called TELUS and they said it was a SIM card issue. So I went to another kiosk in another town that is a bit closer to me and they gave me a SIM. Again, everything started out great, I received a text and browsed internet at full speed then on the drive home the bars diminished to none and I was stuck with the exact problem as mentioned above.
I spent an hour with a TELUS technical rep. She was great helping me even though it was a phone off of their network. We could not come to any sort of resolve for my issue. I have tried using *#*#4636#*#* to change to WCDMA only and multiple other options.
Further issues for me is my phone will only connect to my computer to charge. I think some pins are broken or something because I cannot connect via USB to flash anything. I can send files to the phone wirelessly and enter download mode (although the phone is not recognized by the computer) and CWM recovery mode.
The phone also works perfectly with my still active ROGERS sim.
Thanks for any ideas on this.
All the best
Steve

Galaxy Nexus LTE Won't Hold LTE Signal

I'm posting here on behalf of a friend because I've tried everything I think I can do to help, but to no avail. I'll try to make this quick.
My friend bought a Galaxy Nexus LTE in December and it worked great for a few weeks, until the vibrator in the phone broke - he took it to a VZW store and they replaced it for him.
Upon receiving the replacement phone, he was having trouble with LTE staying connected. It would continuously drop and instead of falling back to 3G, it says he has no signal - signal indicator in settings displays a red bar (i.e. no coverage).
He took it back to VZW and they tried his SIM card in an employees phone - same issue happened to that phone. They then tried his SIM in a new phone off the shelf, same thing happened again.
Verizon is saying it's an issue with something at the account level, but I've encouraged him to go in and complain until they give him another replacement, just in case. However, it's very odd that his SIM card in three different GNex devices produces the same issue, even though his first one worked great. They have said that a future software update would fix this.
The other day I installed the leaked 4.0.4 update on his phone to see if the new radios would work, but the same issue kept happening. So I reverted him back to 4.0.2 so he could take his phone back to Verizon and beg for another replacement. Unfortunately I forgot to re-lock his phone so I still have to do that before he takes it in.
Has anyone ever heard of this before? It seems so odd that his SIM card would do this, but I still think that Verizon owes him another replacement device since he has a phone that isn't working like it should. He's getting a big discount on his family plan but he'd prefer to have LTE on his new phone.
I would love your thoughts - this just doesn't make sense to us. Any suggestions other than replacing the phone again? It sounds like VZW doesn't want to do that for him so it might be easier to fix it another way.
Can't speak for Verizon itself, but I have been through several SIM cards now on Telstra. Same issue, all of a sudden they are unable to pick up signal at all. Seems the pre-paid cards are more susceptible.
I'd ask for a replacement SIM, as opposed to a replacement phone as it's been proved the issue exists on multiple handsets already. If a new SIM doesn't alleviate the issue, the VZW rep may be right in that it is at the account level.
Good luck!

[URGENT] Note 2 not connecting inside.( Telus - International )

Hello,
Recently I purchased a brand new note 2 from Best Buy Mobile who sells on behalf of Koodo Mobile. It was working just fine until I went on vacation where it's giving me a huge headache. Considering it was locked I contacted a good friend who unlocks phones, he rooted my phone ( Was extremely angry ... ) and told me he unlocked it, because of the friendship I couldn't say much, anyways, after rooting the phone stopped working inside the house. I purchased the phone in Calgary where it worked just fine and I am currently in Karachi ( Pakistan ), When I try to call someone it goes to dialing and just stays at dialing without any further updates, the phone never connects but the wierd thing is that it is getting 5 / 5 singles I am using the Mobilink carrier in PK, I've also tried Zong, Telenor, Ufone, Warid etc. and none of them work, BUT as soon as I step outside the call takes 2 seconds to connect, now I understand you may think it's a signal issue but first it's getting full signals and it tells me I am on the Mobilink service, secondly I have uncles from Saudia, America all who brought their phones and they work just fine. We have iPhone's, Blackberry's, Samsungs & Nokias inside the house all that are working just fine INSIDE & OUTSIDE.
iPhones - iPhone 5s
Blackberrys - Blackberry Torch 9800
Samsungs - Note 2, Note 3, S3, S4.
Nokia's - Nokia 225 etc.
ALL phones expect the note 2 work fine inside and outside, I've tried changing the connection method to GSM only, WCDMA only etc. The only difference I noticed was that GSM connected much faster once I stepped outside than LTE & WCDMA. I am extremely annoyed as this phone is less than a month old and was kept in storage 75% of the time, so it's basically new. I don't want to throw this phone away. My friend tells me the phone needs a hardware booster but I don't want to let him open up my phone after what he did to the software. Any suggestions on fixing this? I'm very worried as this cost me 300 dollars and I haven't even used it for a month. ANY help would be appreciated and I would not mind compensating the user who helps me fix this. Thank you very much!

Weird touchscreen issue

I have the Verizon Galaxy S3 and I have the Verizon Straight Talk sim card. LTE and all works perfect but from time to time the top left corner of my screen loses response and won't register my touch. I'll reboot the phone and all will be fine but then hours later it'll do it again. When I take my sim card out I never have that issue. Could that be a straight talk sim card issue? It's happened to me on the s5 and s6 before as well.

Could very well be. You could ask them for another sim card
Nexus 6 via SSHD/Cataclysm
Like could service cause the issue? I really notice it when my service switches from LTE to 3g and back

It could but I'm no expert on the matter. I never had an issue with it. I've now had 3 devices on straight talk with minimal issues

OnePlus One and Samsung Galaxy S7 loses reception randomly

Hi,
I initially started with a OnePlus One and it came to a point where I would lose reception (Both data and mobile) maybe once an hour. The only fix was to restart the phone. I got fed up with it so I ended up getting a new phone, the Samsung Galaxy S7. It's been 3 days and I haven't found any problems, however, this morning I found my phone to have no reception. I restarted it and it started working again.
Could this be a SIM card problem? WiFi works fine.
Thanks
Not sure about the OPO but i had this happen to me where i lost reception for no more than 30s.
For you to restart the phone to get a reception is news to me and honestly have no idea.
I don't know how easy it is for you but with my operator it is very easy to just pick up a new sim card and ether have the shop to register the new card or do it by myself online. If the card is the same as the one you used with the OPO a new card would be the first thing to test. I have heard of lost reception problems were a sim card has been the culprit.

Is it the same SIM card from both phones?
Something has to be the same between them, either the SIM, or if it is a different SIM, then your location / surroundings / interference

Same SIM card. My location and surroundings don't affect when I lose reception. It just seems to be random. Both me and my girlfriend have the same carrier (Kodoo). I'd be sitting by my desk for a couple hours and have full bars and suddenly lose reception. Then restart my phone and I get reception back.

I'd request a SIM replacement, see if that fixes it, unlikely to be the phone if you have two with the same problem using the same SIM
