Do you guys think this marketplace is legit? - General Questions and Answers

Hey guys. I found thing website called UpgradeSwap and they sell used phones. Their prices are really good but I wanted to see what you all thought. I want to make sure it's safe. They use PayPal and they claim they're Verified.
Any tips for me so that I can make sure I'm buying safely from them or has anyone had any experience with them?
Thanks in advance.

seems almost legit
site seems to be kinda ok.. check this one out tho - http://www.scamadviser.com/check-website/upgradeswap.com .. they too almost seem to agree

Iphone question

Hey all, so wife wanted an iphone, got her one off the net for $300 that is 1.1.3 and already unlocked, and has the apptap installer on it. So what I am wondering is where is a trusted "safe" site to get apps etc for it. Asking here because all of the great help I got with my tilt, and seems like I can trust the general consensus here
Thanks in advance!

[Q] What's with unlocking XDA features!

Hey all,
To explain: I've succesfully installed Adroid on my HD2, and wanted to say BIG thanks to all developers involved.. But I can't even find the thanks button!? Nor put any of their links in my sig, so I've been searching and found you have to unlock some features..
Now since I can't find the 'unlock' list, either I'm pretty much blind or somebody thought I need to have a lot of posts/thanks before I can say thanks to somebody else?
And since I'm asking anyways, I hate Paypal.. is there any other way to make a donation? For example a central XDA account which will transfer money to the designated users?

I'm in the same boat as you. I've download Froyo6 into my htc tp2 cdma "Sprint' phone and it works beautifully. I wanted to "high five" the developers as well, but couldn't find the thks button. I sent a donation of $25.00 using my debit card, but I'm not sure if it went thru do to the use of paypal. I HATE PAYPAL AS WELL!!!!

Looking for a couple brave testers

So I just bought a Slide on eBay, but I wanna go ahead and get things started.
I can do most of the work I think right now before the phone (since it's Sense 3), but I'll need a few brave testers with ADB knowledge and who aren't afraid to flash things.
Somebody help this bro out, he does good work.
You should try this forum:
http://support.t-mobile.com/community/phones_data_devices/android/mytouch_4g_slide?view=all
It seems like most of the people on here like our phones and want to root and rom them, while the people on the t-mobile forum want to complain and cry. I'm sure you'd have pretty good luck on there lowballing someone for their phone!
Got one on eBay a couple of minutes ago. See you guys on the other side . Thanks for the replies.
Sweet can't wait to see what you can do with this phone!
If you don't mind me asking, how much was it on eBay?
I currently have a MT3GS I bought from Craigslist awhile back - got a pretty good deal from someone who decided he'd rather have an iphone, it came with the original box and all the stuff.
Been debating on whether it was worth an update to a 4GS.

It was $340... it said it was refurbished so I jumped on it. That's just around the price range I was looking for, too (extremely hopeful price range).
$400 seems to be the area in which the used ones are selling for...

I did, and I LOVE it! Man if you ported that to our phone I would be eternally grateful, and your phone would have cost you a little less $$$ if you know what I mean

You know I'm in!
I've been one of the ones to dive in headfirst around here so i'll help as I can.
This week, and next, are gonna be real tight on time for me. I still have a few threads around here I have to update...and just can't get more then a few minutes in front of a terminal at a time.
When I get the chance to update my threads, I can sit here and have the phone installing (or whatever) while I do.
Glad to see another dev jumping into the pool here with the MT4GS - it's a sick piece of hardware.
Your list has made it incredibly easy to list out all the apps (I usually have to go through them one by one and try and figure everything out, usually takes 1-2 hours per phone )
Anyways, I can't test it as I don't have the phone yet but Bloater should be setup for it. At least for the apps and stuff. I'll have to add WiFi calling later.
Test it out and let me know what works and what doesn't. I tried not to include anything I wasn't sure about or anything that could be potentially harmful to remove.
If it doesn't recognize something as installed or uninstalled it just means my MD5s mismatch what it was expecting, easy fix.
Install it as a normal APK
I can new a lab rat if needed as I still haven't committed to this as a dd

I'll be willing to test!
Are any of you guys familiar with IRC? This may be easier to do everything there instead of posting back and fourth.
We could try #mt4gs @ freenode
Other than that, I may have my statusbar mods ported today. Just need to fix the resource IDs up I think. I'll need to have someone test.
I'm using Paul's deodex as a base for now since I couldn't find an RUU. So if anyone is running that, you'll just have to flash two files over to test if this works or not .

Someone join so I can use you as a test dummy!

Chinaecarts

Hi there,
I'm considering buying this phone: chinaecarts com/samsung-galaxy-s3-12ghz-dual-core-48inch-mtk6577-android-40-16gb-phone-p-3095.html
However I've never bought from them before. So, has anyone else had any experience with them before? Are they safe to buy from?
Thanks in advance.

This device rocks! I'm sure!
Anyway, did you pay the device with Moneygram or with Bank money transfer?
Please write more info, thanks!

Unfortunately I decided not to order, because I looked at other reviews and many other people said that they got scammed by Chinaecarts. Also many people have mentioned that they are unable to contact their customer support at all once they have purchased(/been scammed).
Moneygram specifically say on their website not to use it to pat for items, and that it could indicate a scam.
A real shame because Chinaecarts appear to be the only seller selling this phone. I may still buy a MTK6577 device (now I'm looking at the Haipai X710d) so long as it is the best I can get in my budget of £190.
tl;dr: I wouldn't recommend buying from them.
The general rule of internet is usually, if it's too good to be true, it is. I guess that even if they would send something (which I doubt) you'll get a "fake" replica or something like that. I'm glad you decided not to order there, since it would be sad if you'd lose your money.

Help: Bricked phone - need someone in Australia

Hi guys,
I've bought my HTC One XL directly from Australia, through Telstra. But now I live in Brazil
Well, I bricked my phone pretty hard. I even bothered reading all the topics about my stituation to see if there was any available solution. Turns out there isn't.
Well, at least through the community. From what I gathered, HTC is able to refurbish it and send it back - or at least exchange for another one.
The problem is, since this device is not sold in Brazil, HTC-Brazil simply don't do any kind of repair on it. So, my only hope lives in a good australian soul accepting to receive my phone and do me this big favour of checking if HTC-Australia would help me - even if I have to pay some technical fee.
I know this forum is not exacly for something like this, but I'm out of ideas. And since my investment was pretty big and I can't afford another one right now, I'm here begging for some help.
If this good soul exists, please, PM me so we can go through details.
Thanks in advance!
I feel you man..what'd you do to your phone? And when you get on the phone with HTC Australia tell them the truth I've seen them take pity on some people for flashing the wrong thingss and making it free to recover

Thanks man. Well, I was absolutely used to the HOX with Tegra 3, once I got the XL I thought I know almost everything. It worked well for a while, but things went sour when I tried to downgrade. I think it corrupts some stuff on the phone, and after that I think it's not possible to install a RUU. Well, I tried to anyway and found out that the hard way.
I was already pretty honest with them. I talked to them online, told them the whole story, but they said they could do nothing for me since I was in Brazil. And, as I said, HTC-Brazil was completely useless, since they don't sell this device here.
That's why I'm trying to find some help from an australian mate here at the forum. 'Til now, I had no success.
I found a guy who does JTAG here in Brazil. Since I'm having a hard time doing it trough HTC, I think I'll try this one last resort. I think I got almost nothing to lose by now.
What exactly do you need someone to do for you?

Hey timmaaa!
I'd need that person to give me an address to send the device, and after that I'd use this address to ask HTC what should I do.
Possibly I'd need it to be sent to HTC or Telstra.
But it's ok, by now I took the second possibility. I sent it to be used in a test with Riffbox. Now all I have to do is pray, as much as I can.
Anyway, thanks for replying!
Hey radjan! Check out mobiletechvideos.com they do jtagging service for about 80$ ...and its an honest site

Thanks man. I found int while I was doing my research yesterday.
Anyway, I found another site, a brazilian one (amigoandroid.com.br) which does the same service. I called him, and he sound pretty good technically, even explaining to me why jtagiing the Tegra version is a no-go. Also, I found some pretty good reviews about him in some brazilian forums.
He also explained to me that this process for the One XL is still in beta testing. But, as I said, I got pretty much nothing more to lose. For me it's ok if it ends up bricked if it makes future bricked devices come back to life.
Beside that, the price is basically the same, but I save money from the shipping and save some time I'd use to explain brazilian customs that the device was already mine, that I was sending it for repair and yadda yadda.
Anyway, thanks for the help. Will keep posted and, in cade anyone ends up screwed like me, they may fin a light at the end of the tunnel.
