Hi I recently ran into problems where I use MediaMonkey to handle my music library. MM stopped seeing my SD Card as storage and could no longer sync my music. I trolled through the MM forums and found someone had a fix using the following app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nextapp.sdfix
Just wondering that it would be useful if something like this was built into the ROM?

Hi bros,
I'm very confuse about this, not sure that anybody meet the same. The problem is I cannot update my music library after copying music to the internal storage. I copied using USB sync. I tried many apps like SDScan. I even tried FX (File Explorer) app, have the function to scan for media but it stop suddenly in the middle of the process.
Please, anyone know how to fix this?
Thank you very much

I guess reflashing shud help...
find the settings where you filter the musics that will show up in the player. I think every player has that if not almost.
had same problem with gb miui... only reboot helped...

I've seen that behavior on stock UCLE2 as well after flashing a rom or restoring nandroid backup.
Solution is to delete the db files in /data/data/com.android.providers.media/databases and then reboot. Media scanner will then rebuild the media indexes.
After doing a lot of searching and reading, I found the above reply in another thread. This is the same problem I am having with my music files. I tried the fix mentioned, removing the db files and rebooting. This works great and rebuilds the database so only one instance of a file is displayed. Until the next time you reboot, when the duplication starts over again. Does any one know of a permanent fix to this issue.

When I go in astro file manager>Android>data>com.android.providers.media Only album thumbs is available. This is on my internal SD and my music is saved to my external SD. Is this where the duplicate files are coming from? So do I delete the album thumbs folder?
Another option is to simply point music folder library to where you know it is. I sync to external sd with double twist, so when I use another player just limit music directory to the folder you sync to.

Hey guys,
I've got an odd problem with samsung stock music player on my note 10.1.
Every playlist I add to the device is (dis)played upside down. At first i suspected isyncr, which i use to sync my Itunes with the note, to be the problem - but it turned out it is not.
I already did the following:
checked the m3u playlist isyncr generates with a text editor - everything fine
cleared data of stock music player
cleared data of "media storage"
created a playlist with a 3rd party player (amazon) => reverse order in samsung player, correct order in poweramp, player pro
created a playlist with samsung player => reverse order in 3rd party players (amazon, poweramp, player pro)
searched the internet and xda
asked samsung support for help - twice
Internet knows a similar problem with samsung fascinate without any solution, here on xda i found an old thread which i suspect describes the same problem on a different device (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1404735), but also without a solution or idea.
I can hardly believe there is such a bug in the stock music app and hardly anyone steps into it. I also find it hard to believe that samsung had this bug in Fascinate's music player, fixed it in the Galaxy S2's (which i also own and doesn't have this problem), just to re-integrate it in the Note 10.1.
Samsung support is not able to give any qualified answers and rather tries to force me to use kies (which I even tried, but despite its poor performance cannot help me with this problem). I will, however, try to ask them a 3rd time.
The Problem existed in ICS ROM as well as in Jelly Bean, which arrived about 2 weeks ago (XXBLJ9).
Any Ideas what I could try next?
If you read this and don't know an answer either, you can still help me by verifying the problem on your note 10.1 - just create a playlist with for example amazon mp3 (playlist, not album) and open it with samsung stock music player. Would be great, thanks in advance!
Greetings,
Oliver
Okay...seems like nobody has an idea how to solve this...no problem.
You can, however, also help me by just trying it out, takes about 1 minute of your time...is nobody using the stock music player and any other player?
As Internet isn't full of complaints, i suspect that it could be a configuration specific problem with my note. I am willing to wipe it in that case, but as it is not rooted i've got to restore its current state manually after that - which might take some hours So I just want to make sure that there's a chance that wiping helps me with my problem.
Anyone? Can (or can't) you confirm my problem?
Thanks and Greetings,
Oliver
Same issue on Samsung Droid Charge

Hi,
I have had my Samsung Charge since it came out. That problem has always persisted on my device. I find it extremely frustrating as the point of a smart phone is that it is multiple devices. I would like this to be my main music player as well since it has an external 32gb SD card and so can hold quite a bit of music.
I am not a developer (I do do technical support), just decided I am trying to figure out - AGAIN - why it does this. I just downloaded a trial of PowerAmp. Don't know if this might help you figure out the problem. Power Amp shows my synced playlists from Windows Media Player not as a Playlist but as a music folder under folders. So far I have synced just one playlist as a test. In the folder in powerAmp, it is in the correct order. In the stock music player it is in reversed order.
I paused in typing, and after syncing multiple playlists at one shot, the list in Poweramp is garbled. The first try created a single folder with all the songs from the playlist in correct order. Now with the sync of multiple lists, I do have a couple like above but the rest either didn't come across or the music came across but not the playlist. The stock music player also has just some not all of the playlists I synced. The music is all in reverse order.
To me this suggest that problem is with the implementation of the sync on the device itself, given you have the same issue. My guess is it reads and writes the playlist from bottom up. I think there is also a burrering problem since it never seems to bring all my lists over and if that happens only some of the music.
Hope this helps, would like very much to know if you find a solution. Samsung is close to losing me as a customer over this. I care less about browsing and connectivity and more about multi functionality. A music player that works is important to me, and am considering an HTC or maybe even an IPhone (!!!) next time around just because of this - and my next upgrade is in 60 days. I HOPE YOU ARE READING THIS SAMSUNG!!!

Hi Oliver,
Just discovered that my Amazon MP3 cloud player has all my playlists I just synced (except one) and the songs are all in the correct order. This is confounding to me as I previously had the same reversed order issue in this player. Not sure if it has anything to do with the fact that I went into the file system dorectly and deleted all the contents from themusic related folders before doing the sync for that one then multiple lists. Not sure what happened with that one list, might be related to the fact that it is a custom CD mix ( old school club music, I need the beats for running!). Am going to try syncing that list as I really like the music that's on it. This would seem to contradict my thinking above though. Seems the issue is with the Samsung stock music itself, not the sync. HTC/Apple here I come...
Galaxy stock mp3 Player
I have Samsung Fascinate and it has the same problem with stock mp3 music player. Songs on playlist are reversed. I also tried a few other players but they are not convenient.
So as previous says we can use Amazon mp3 player and widget. It works good for me. It remembers when I paused and even after reboot. So decided use it. It doesn't interfere with other programs (I use in my car navigation app - Navigon). So its very convenient listen music and have navigation.
Hi everyone!
For all iTunes users, i have my first android phone after depending for 3 years on my iPod, so I was using iSyncr to sync all my music and playlists to my phone (LG Optimus L9). It was working perfectly (I use PowerAmp to listen to my music) until the syncing of the playlists started to fail. I think it was after an iTunes update (but I'm not sure), I run iSyncr, select SD card as always and it starts working blah blah, the music syncs but when tries to sync the playlists it says something like this:
"Syncing Rock... Device couldn't update the playlist"
I don't know why it started to do this, I tried deleting the playlist from the SD and syncing a new playlist but it doesn't work either. It's so annoying because I depend a lot on my playlists, I have 16 gb of music and it's a mess if I don't have it ordered the way i like it xD
Anybody knows any solution to this?

You may try refreshing the Android media storage on your device using this tutorial - http://www.jrtstudio.com/iSyncr/Tutorials/HowToRefreshAndroidMediaCache
If this doesn't work, try syncing to the internal storage and seeing if this is working properly. For more advanced help, please contact me at [email protected].

I tried refreshing the media storage and not only it didn't work, but iSyncr deleted all the playlists and then it couldn't transfer the new playlists, now I don't have any of them in my phone
I think I'll do a hard reset soon and see if that works, thanks anyway

I had the same issue at one point and found out that the problem was i had flashed a mod that also disabled the media scanner. I just used a media scanner trigger app from the market and problem fixed. What rom/mods are you running?

I don't have any roms or mods. The media scanner is working, or at least the icon appears, stays for a while and then dissapears.
Solved
Hello again, I finally did a hard reset and spent all afternoon installing the apps and cofiguring the phone and everything is working perfectly. I'm doing a backup now so I have somewhere to go back to if anything weird happens again xD
I have an Xperia J mobile running Android version 4.1.2
I have been using the mobile for quite some time and noticed that it seems to merge songs randomly from in between like a mashup.
The mp3 files get modified and the songs(downloaded/copied) are not being able to be played in original form.
I have tried formatting, restoring to factory settings, using different media players and several other ways but still could not find a solution.
I tried googling for the same and cudn't find much response. Also Sony support has no idea about it.
Anybody who can get this resolved, do let me know...any relevant ideas, tricks, tweaks will be tried and responded.
All of those are the effects of Malware on your phone, some code is being rewritten and thats why the music player is merging the audio files, flash a clean stock rom and
Format your external sd card
I had the same problem with my earlier SE phones. The reason was faulty Memory Card. If the songs that are getting merged are in External SD Card, trying replacing it with another one to see if it fixes your issue.
