This same problem happened to me so I downloaded totalcommander, searched for the apk, and then I manually installed it with totalcommander.

I copied the zip file to sd card and used recovery to install it.
Does not work and would not allow me to change permission on sd card.
App is in system/app but cann't change permission, hence not working. ANy clear cut help will be greatly appreciated.

You need to select RW instead of RO if using root explorer.

It is RW and I can't change the permission using root explorer. However I managed to change the permission of zip file using windows 7 permission. I will try again. Thanks for your help.
Still not working

I have changed the permission and pshed the files using adb. I get the message
process com.android.inputmethod.latin has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
I am trying to make it work using htc sensation with ARHD XE ROM 3.6.7
Can anyone help me.
Where did you get the zip file? I am going to try install this version as the latest one in the HyperNoSense Rom keeps just dropping the keyboard VERY frustrating!
Replace it yourself then, it's not that hard.
the .so goes to
/system/libs
the apk goes to
/system/app
I don't know the permission for it and I don't pay attention to it. It just worked for me straight away

I have already tried this but no good. May be I should download file from different location and give it a try. Thanks for your help.
I got it working
I have managed to get it working by downloading the file from different place.
Copied the apk file to /system/app then changed permission and extracted .so file and copied to /system/lib, changed permission and restarted.
I would like to thank all of you who tried to help me. I love this community.
Hello Members
I'm kinda new to rooting, i just installed ics 4.0.4 rooted it and now im having problems changing permissions in root explorer. Im trying to install Talk_with_AV_no_wifi.zip. If its a mod from a different phone it probably won't work. I am on my phone and can't look right now.

The mod isn't phone specific, it worked when i had gingerbread on the same phone.
Check Superuser SU for any errors. It may have denied permissions. If so, just click the button at the bottom to enable RootExplorer to make SU changes.
Please help me...!!!
when i m trying to chage the permission in root explorer its showing me...'Permissions change was not successful. Please note that some file systems(e.g SD Card) do not allow permission changes.'
plz tell me how to solv it...I have LG P698 mobile phone...its hv android 2.3.4
I've got root, SuperSU, and it won't let me change the files at all. I can't rename the files. Just says, "HotspotProvision.akp cannot be renamed because the file system is read-only". I can't find a permissions option. Do I need the pay version of Root Explorer?
What am I missing here?
The filesystem needs mounted as read write

The problem maybe with supersu binaries, delete these files through twrp or cwm recovery
system/etc/install-recovey.sh
system/xbin/ksud, ku.sud and su
I've installed MIUI Snap series on my LG P500. Everything's working fine except moving apps to SD card. I've read that replacing Settings.apk will do the trick. Here's the post to replace Settings.apk file:
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=32024427&postcount=446
But how I do it? Because I've tried it using Root Explorer and even by flashing Fix.zip as one member suggested but I get message "Application not installed".
And for zip flashing, I get file not found, Operation aborted in recovery.
I've moved it in system/app with editing the permissions but to no avail.
Kindly help.
Thanks.

First this app will only work on a stock/stock base ROM. Second, you need a root file app, like root explorer or root browser. In root explorer you have to select to give r/w permission.
Go to the location of the app, long press it and select copy. Then navigate back to
/system/app and paste it. Then long press it again, select permissions and make it rw-r--r--. Then reboot
Hopefully this will install for you. If it doesn't than the apk itself would need to be modified.
One last thing, if you have another sec.player.apk in system/app, you might need to change it from .apk to .bak then reboot before you begin the other process. You can just rename it back to
.apk and make sure permissions are right then reboot to re-enable it.

I searched over internet but didn't find any of the working method for installing sqlite3, So, i thought to write a tutorial on this.
There are some apps which require sqlite3 to work as for example the famous Xpose module "WhatsappX". So, here we go.
Requirements:- Root access, Xpose framework installed, Titanium Backup, any root explore (Es file explore recommended).
Step1:- Download and install Titanium Backup From Google play.
Step2:- Launch Titanium Backup and then exit the app.
Step3:- Launch Es file explorer and go to "device/data/data/com.keramidas.TitaniumBackup/files/" Now, copy "sqlite3". And go to "device/system/xbin/" Now, Paste "Sqlite3" here.
Step4:- set file permission to "-rwxr-xr-x".
Step5:- just reboot your device. Your sqlite3 is installed now.
*I know there are some apps which can install sqlite3 but for me they don't work at all. I tried this method on Micromax Unite 3, running on lollipop 5.0 and it is working. Hit the thank button if you find this useful.
Thanks buddy, will try and hope it works for me.
Simple install and works perfect. Cherrs.

What's the problem?
Hello! Thanks for your guide! But I have a question: what is the number for "-rwxr-xr-x" permission? Thanks
I have solved! Thank you in every way
IT WORKED!!!!
I tried everything to install sqlite3 with and without different apps and it didn't work. I followed your your steps and got sqlite3 working on my phone in less than an 30 minutes. Thanks.
Works just perfect. Thank you for this tip.
Where to find the sqlite3 file?
Where do I find that sqlite3 file to copy into the folder?
Copy failed
I tried copying but it is saying "copying failed"
