I believe the problem is that your bootloader is outdated. As seen in this commit, CM has recently made changes that may not work properly with older bootloaders. Therefore they have added a check to the updater script to make sure that you are on the latest bootloader and the rom will only install if you do. Go into fastboot mode and check what bootloader version you have. If it isn't HHZ11k, you need to install it. You can get it here.

If you download the latest factory image from here: https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images#hammerhead
Then extract and flash the Radio (fastboot flash radio radio-hammerhead-m8974a-1.0.25.0.23.img) and Bootloader (fastboot flash radio radio-hammerhead-m8974a-1.0.25.0.23.img)
reboot the phone then boot into recovery and flash as usual with CWM you should be good to go.

will flashing the bootloader wipe my phone? I vaguely remember something about the bootloader that wipes your phone if you changed it. was it oem unlock that I was thinking about or flashing the bootloader?

Flashing a new bootloader won't wipe your phone.. "fastboot oem unlock" does!

Thank you! Bootloader update here I come!

Unable to Install Magisk 22.0 in TWRP 3.5.0-0 By mahajant99

Dear XDA and POCO community!
Hope you are all doing good, please note that I just flash to a custom ROM (ARROW OS 11 Official GAPPS Surya) on my POCO X3 NFC using stock global and all the process went smoothly.
1) Unlocked the bootloader
2) Installed TWRP via adb powershell console correctly and booted in TWRP
3)wiped and format the data, cache, etc and I was able to move to Arrow OS
Now the problem is that when I enter TWRP and I tried to root the device this happened and extracted from the recovery log on TWRP

Sometimes TWRP reboots back to the main screen of TWRP, sometimes it doesn't and I am unable to root the device, tried Fox recovery as well and having the same issues.
Do you have any workaround or solution to bypass those errors especially the error ''installing zip file magisk'' those blook loop 18,19 I have no idea what is about, I redownloaded Magisk zip like 10 times and is not corrupted.
What I am doing wrong? Ideas?
I appreciate any hand on this so I can happily root the Poco and be back on business since this is the reason I am moving into this new ROM.
Look forward to your ideas/feedback
well, you can always try newer version of TWRP, maybe that'll solve your problems with magisk...
@jeryll Thanks for the headsup, I am going to try it out and see what comes about it, in case it fails again I will provide the log and see if there is someone else facing the same issue or a solution to this.
Thanks!
Unfortunately I tried to root it again with the new TWRP 3.5.1 and tried the method add Magisk root and they all failed this is the recovery terminal logs

I remove the Verification zip and it's the same, I dunno what I am missing or could be the cause that I am unable to root my device...
Ok I managed to get it work, it seems that the version 22 is faulty on POCO X3 NFC global version, I installed 21.4 and now it installed successfully and it is rooted yay!!
I am going to see in the app of magisk to see If I can override and install the latest version #fingerscrossed.
I just did a direct recommended installation in Magisk app and it is installed flawlessly without problems. I am going to leave is a record if someone has the same issue and needs to install Magisk.
Do you guys recommend TWRP or FOX recovery to use in this device? What will be the differences?
Thank you! If needed I can create a new thread for this.
Thanks!

well, the differences between latest OFOX and latest TWRP are mostly with added extra functions (for example OFOX has advanced file management (batch operations and such), maybe better error management) and/or design, because the "engine" in both is the same (for example, you can restore backups created in OFOX in TWRP or vice versa)...

unfortunately that is my experience as well, to a certain point in time, magisk v22 worked correctly on my Poco X3, then it suddenly started behaved very differently, and even if I did find the solution, which worked for me, the extra work with uninstalling magisk v 22 always before installing the new version of ROM was not worth it, I now too use v21.4
my suspicion is that part which magisk v22 always downloading from the internet changed and that is causing for some people the instabilities ...
Have either of you got any further with this.
Did you follow any of the install instructions for v22?
What 'recovery.img' is he referring to? The recovery image for the ROM (there isn't one as far as I know), OFOX recovery image, a different recovery image?
Then someone else in the comments of the magisk thread, said that people with POCOs can just do a normal flash the zip through the custom recovery.
I'm as confused as all get out, I've tried every way described and can't get that patched image to happen.
I can flash it, install the apk, and then I'll get notices saying that 'x wants root privileges' but there is no normal functioning within the actual magisk app.
Don't worry, changed roms, RR to Arrow, and it installs without any issue at all.
