Android Dinner
...if you have no time to breakfast, brunch or lunch.
What is Dinner?
Dinner is a build script for comfortable and automated building of Android Roms. More or less it's a wrapper for breakfast, repo sync and brunch...
But Dinner is more than that. It uses configs to define a build, these configs can be shared with others so they can build what you built. And there is even more:
Nice output (only the information you need)
Commandline completion for Dinner
Complete logfile of your build and a errorlog which only contains message from STDERR
Automatic upload of errorlog to our secure Stikked server (https://paste.nrecom.net)
Generating of a changelog
Notification about you build status via Mail, Pushbullet or Notify my Android
Build via cron, no need for a jenkins or a build bot, you only need Dinner
still much more...
Who is it intended for?
Developers and Users, everyone can use and benefit from it.
Developers can attach their Dinner config to the rom thread so that users can build their rom.
Users have an easier way to compile a rom and support the devs by sending the compile errorlog back to them.
What are the requirements?
At the moment you need a build environment, which means you have to install all packages need to compile android (examples from: Google or OmniRom)
You should also have a build user (do not build as root or with root privileges).
And "mutt" if you want to send e-mail notifications.
How to install?
Dinner installation is quite easy, as build user just run:
Code:
curl -sL https://raw.github.com/NemesisRE/dinner/master/bootstrap.sh | /bin/bash
or clone the repository and add the following lines to ${HOME}/.bashrc (or for zsh: ${HOME}/.zshrc):
Code:
source [DINNER_INSTALL_PATH]/helper/dinner_completion.sh
export PATH=$PATH:[DINNER_INSTALL_PATH]/bin
How to use it?
Dinner help
Dinner has a good help, run:
Code:
dinner help
and you will get pretty much all information you need.
Dinner example config
There is also an example config with description for every variable.
How to start
First thing, create a config! Just run:
Code:
dinner config add NAME_OF_YOUR_NEW_CONFIG
or just add an existing:
Code:
dinner config add PATH_TO_CONFIG
if you want to change some of the advanced config variables use:
Code:
dinner config edit NAME_OF_YOUR_CONFIG
After you created your config, all you need to do is start building process by running:
Code:
dinner build NAME_OF_YOUR_CONFIG
or if you want to build all your configs:
Code:
dinner build
Is Dinner already finished?
No! I want to add even more features, at the moment easy cherrypicking is one of my main goals. But I think there will be even more ideas from you.

The whole thing started with this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=47396058
10 Script lines from XDA Member cb5264, were the beginning of Dinner...
We asked us questions like:
do we need jenkins to build a rom on our own?
can we have changelog for each build?
why don't we get a nice notification when build has finished?
Then XDA Recognized Contributor mithun46 showed us his script with already 24 lines.
Then I thought we would need some more error handling and more options for the user to make their own decisions, this was the beginning of Dinner.
The first Dinner version had already over 300 lines of code and now it has more the 1500, and I'm not finished yet.
Here are some Screenshoots
And an example error log:
https://paste.nrecom.net/view/db8e061a
I'm thinking about, that configs could/should be git repositories that way devs can also add scripts or change the config and users could easily update their config with a command like "dinner config update"
This would mean:
"dinner config add CONFIGNAME" would create a git repo
"dinner config add URL" would try to pull a repo or another command "dinner config pull URL"
we would need a "push" command for configs
a command like "dinner config cd [CONFIGNAME]" would also be nice (like homeshick)
we would need a better way to run scripts before and after the build process, like based on the script name (pre_*.sh and post_*.sh)
This is an awesome new things you guys have come up with.. Surely gona give it a try and also try improving it.. Appreciate the efforts of you guys..

Well somehow it is, nobody used it so I didn't do any further development...
If there where people using it I would love do invest more time, but anyway I will fix that issue (hate to have not working stuff online).

Shame this seems to be dead i was going to write a basic bash script to do a similar job today but came across this hopefully it will save me the job appreciate your work :good:
EDIT: for lollipop will i only need to change the required java version?
i'll hunt down where dependencies are checked and try to edit it accordingly
Funny thing I thought the last days about it.
I still have to fix some stuff which I will do this week.
Contribution is always welcome ?

for me everything seems to work all i have done is comment out the java check for now whilst i edit it properly
and i'm looking at a way to add a real time timer to the brunch output, currently using it to build cm12 for my d855 i'm just so used to having some sort of feedback whilst the build is happening and thought a counter would be sufficient (at least for me )
Just came across this today. Would love to be able to add this in. Is the project still dead?
Dinner is the most unhealthy meal there is... It's scientifically proven.

Here is a guide to building froyo from source for the HTC Desire. I am using Ubuntu 10.4, any Linux distro will do.
Thanks & credits: Defer/deovferreira, AdamG, Kali-
If you are interested in this sort of thing I encourage you to join #teamdesire on irc.freenode.net
Get packages
Code:
sudo apt-get install git-core gnupg flex bison gperf libsdl-dev libesd0-dev libwxgtk2.6-dev build-essential zip curl libncurses5-dev zlib1g-dev valgrind
cd ~
mkdir bin
curl http://android.git.kernel.org/repo >~/bin/repo
chmod a+x ~/bin/repo
Install java (from java.com - not documented here in this post), set some variables and get the aosp source. Edit the path to your java installation if it's not the same as below.
Code:
cat >> ~/.bashrc <<EOF
export JAVA_HOME=/usr/local/java/jdk1.6.0_18/
export ANDROID_JAVA_HOME=$JAVA_HOME
export PATH=$PATH:~/bin:$JAVA_HOME/bin
alias makedroid='make -j$(grep -c processor /proc/cpuinfo) TARGET_PRODUCT=full_bravo | tee build-$(date +%d%m%y%H%M).log'
EOF
. ~/.bashrc
mkdir mydroid
cd mydroid
repo init -u git://android.git.kernel.org/platform/manifest.git -b froyo
repo sync
Please note, if you are using java 1.6 you will need to edit ~/mydroid/build/core/main.mk and comment out the lines that abort the build if you are not using java 1.5 (comment out lines 104-134)
Set up a bravo "vendor". Download defer's vendor files and extract bravo and bravo-common into ~/mydroid/device/htc/
Code:
cd ~/mydroid/device/htc/bravo
Thanks to deovferreira and Kali- for this vendor config.
Now you need to connect your HTC desire and enable usb debugging. This script we are running will pull propriatary files from the device to go into the new system image. You need to pull the files from an Android 2.2 rom or this will fail! Try using OpenDesire from AdamG or DeFrost from RichardTrip
Code:
./extract_files.sh
Configure ulimits (default of 1024 causes 'too many open files' error in Ubuntu). Substitute 'myuser' with your username:
Code:
sudo cat >> /etc/security/limits.conf<<EOF
myuser soft nofile 8192
myuser hard nofile 8192
EOF
You need to exit from your shell and start a new one for this change to take effect.
Now you can start your build!
Code:
cd ~/mydroid
source build/envsetup.sh
makedroid
Check your build.log in ~/mydroid afterwards for errors.
It takes about an hour to build on my 2.3Ghz dual core laptop with 2Gb of ram. Afterwards in out/product/target/bravo you will find system.img and a system directory containing the files to flash to your device (minus symlinks, create those using your update-script -- open up someone elses rom to discover how these work).

Good to see your attempting this mate. Keep us informed!
Just a thought, have u tried pulling the files from a froyo rom? Might fix your errors.

If I let the build run it does finish, but I get a generic device, not a bravo specific one... i.e. my vendor is ignored. I don't know how to choose the 'lunch' option in Android 2.2. I'm sure its easy, probably one command, but I can't find the doc that explains how!
Edit, ok just found out how to do this on the android developer site, will give my build another go...
Code:
% cd $TOP
% . build/envsetup.sh
# pick a configuration using choosecombo
% choosecombo
% make -j4 PRODUCT-generic-user
Just a thought. Too many open files may refer to the linux max open file descriptors.
Max is usually 1024 by default which can cause problems for huge builds.
Either do it as root after setting his ulimits with (probably a bad idea)
Code:
ulimit -Hn 8192
ulimit -Sn 8192
or change it for yourself in /etc/security/limits.conf
Code:
myuser soft nofile 8192
myuser hard nofile 8192
Yeah I already ran ulimit (as me, not as root) and it said 'ulimit unlimited'!

Yeah, but the important information is from ulimit -n
(-n is for nofile, you can see all limits with ulimit -a)
Thanks mate you were on the money the with upping the limit in limits.conf. My previous limit was 1024, increasing it to 8192 has overcome that error message!
To build using the custom vendor rather than the generic product:
Code:
make -j2 TARGET_PRODUCT=htc_bravo
I'm happy to see that my first ever post on this forum turned out to be useful for someone, cheers!

After building were you able to successfully flash this to your Desire? Or does it take alot more effort..
There are a few more steps - compiling a kernel (if you don't want to use someone elses) and packing it into a boot.img, and packing the files into an update.zip. I've just had a successful froyo build after making a few more small tweaks. Now just to pack it into an update.zip and flash it ... will let you know if it works!
If it's working I'll go back and update the original post with full instructions.
bookmarked this page! def need this for reference lol
After fixing my laptop and reinstalling kubuntu I'll definitely try this.
This thread should be stickied.
Good job mate. Can't wait to flash this. Fingers crossed.
Nice post, looking forward to see how it works out. That is realy the interesting part - how to get from source to the desire rom.
a lot of the instructions here are similar to the ones found at http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php/Building_from_source
Updated the original post.
My build is going all the way to the end, but the output does not boot...logcat shows a bootloop and crashdump from the Android framework. Will update with fully working instructions hopefully within a few days!
@st0kes: behnaam-android_vendor_htc_bravo-e409d97.tar.gz does not exist, could you upload it please?
The files exist here

Hi,
i got the following errors:
h**p://nopaste.info/374d05fc39.html
Don't know why. Suggestions?
greetz
Hmm .. You will need to make some small edits in the vendor files ... change all instances of vendor/htc to devices/htc.
For example in BoardConfig.mk
Code:
BOARD_EGL_CFG := vendor/htc/bravo/egl.cfg
In device.mk
Code:
include vendor/htc/bravo/device_bravo.mk
In device_bravo.mk
Code:
DEVICE_PACKAGE_OVERLAYS := vendor/htc/bravo/overlay
There may be some others ...
Code:
find ~/mydroid/devices/htc/bravo -type f -exec grep -l vendor "{}" ";"
My Linux laptop is at home so can't be of much more help ... I'll update the OP with these details though.
Hi guys!
I wrote this guide because after a few month of kernel development i found useful tools and tricks than helped me a lot and speeded up my work and i want to share with you this knowledge.
Setup computer and download sources
Code:
Minumum reqirement:
* C knowledge
* Ubuntu 12.04 (13.10 if you want use Kdevelop + linux kernel plugin)
* Internet connection, possibly fast and unlimited
* the boot.img of the ROM you want to support with your kernel (AOSP, SENSE etc etc...)
* [URL="http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2519416"]zImage switcher[/URL]
Install required package:
Linux 12.04;
Code:
sudo apt-get install -y build-essential kernel-package libncurses5-dev bzip2 bin86 libqt3-headers libqt3-mt-dev wget libncurses5 git-core nautilus-open-terminal
linux 13.10:
Code:
sudo apt-get install -y build-essential kernel-package libncurses5-dev bzip2 bin86 qt4-dev-tools wget libncurses5 git-core nautilus-open-terminal
and restart your PC.
Download Source:
Go to /home/<username>, create a new folder called "kernel", and enter in that folder.
right click somewhere in "kernel" folder and select "open terminal here" (CooL AH?)
and run
Code:
git clone <kernel-source-code-for-your-device-repository>
for example for HTC One S will be
Code:
git clone https://github.com/CyanogenMod/android_kernel_htc_msm8960.git
Download the toolchain
There are a lot of toolchain, stock, linaro optimized, based on gcc 4.7, based on gcc 4.8 the choice is yours! in this tutorial we use google gcc 4.7 toolchain.
Go to /home/<username>, create a new folder called "toolchains", and enter in that folder.
right click -> open terminal here
Code:
git clone https://android.googlesource.com/platform/prebuilts/gcc/linux-x86/arm/arm-eabi-4.7
Build the kernel
Build the kernel:
in this part we will work in "/home/<username>/kernels/<kernel-folder>" folder, i'll call it <root>
go to "<root>/arch/arm/configs" and copy "<you-device-name>_defconfig" to <root>
rename <you-device-name>_defconfig to ".config"
open a terminal window in <root>
type:
Code:
make ARCH=arm CROSS_COMPILE=/home/<username>/toolchains/arm-eabi-4.7/bin/arm-eabi- > compileLog
and the compilation will start.
Some explanation:
"ARCH=arm" tells to compiler what arch the kernel is made for
"CROSS_COMPILE=xxxxxx" tells to "make" the compiler to use
"> compileLog" saves all the messages in a file called compileLog, it's easier to read than terminal window
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
Pack the kernel to boot.img:
Unpack zImage switcher somewhere, i'll call that folder <ZimgSw>.
copy in the same folder of "repack.sh" file the stock boot.img and yout zImage, you can find it in <root>/arch/arm/boot.
run the script
Code:
./repack.sh
now in <ZimgSw> there's a new file called newBoot.img, that's your kernel!
to find the modules (*.ko files) open a teminal windows to <root> and type
Code:
find ./ -name "*.ko" -exec cp {} <absolute/path/destination/folder> \;
now you have the boot.img and the modules, download a custom kernel and use the flashable zip to make your flashable zip, just replace the modules and the boot.img!
Add featuresAdd features to kernel:
"Woah! i'd like to add intellimand governor to my kernel"
First you need to find a git repository that contains intellimand governor, than the commit that added the governor.
for example https://github.com/rmbq/android_kernel_htc_msm8960/commit/6c87d0e0b3c82ffff8c0704dfde7369872f5602f
Open a terminal window in <root>
type:
Code:
git remote add rmbq https://github.com/rmbq/android_kernel_htc_msm8960.git -b cm-10.2
git fetch rmbq
git cherry-pick 6c87d0e0b3c82ffff8c0704dfde7369872f5602f
Explanations:
Code:
git remote add rmbq https://github.com/rmbq/android_kernel_htc_msm8960.git -b cm-10.2
add a link to https://github.com/rmbq/android_kernel_htc_msm8960.git branch cm-10.2 and called it "rmbq"
Code:
git fetch rmbq
download all the commit history to your PC without modify your sources
Code:
git cherry-pick 6c87d0e0b3c82ffff8c0704dfde7369872f5602f
apply the commit 6c87d0e0b3c82ffff8c0704dfde7369872f5602f to your source
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
in termial window type:
Code:
make ARCH=arm xconfig
will open a new window where you can configure your kernel's features
press ctrl+f (find) and serach for "intellimand" and tick the checkbox. save clicking the floppy disk in upper left corner.
the modified configuration file will be saved in ".config"
now we can build the kernel again, but first type
Code:
make ARCH=arm clean CROSS_COMPILE=/home/<username>/toolchains/prebuilts_gcc_linux-x86_arm_arm-linux-androideabi-4.8/bin/arm-linux-androideabi-
this will remove all the compiled files of previous build.
View git commits historyyou can easly view all the commits in your repo:
open a terminal window in <root> and type
Code:
gitk
will open a GUI where you can see all the commits, what files were modified for each commit, the author of the commit.
you can also revert commits.
There are other GUI for git, i also like "gitg"
Hacking the kernel
suggested by @pirlanofor easy work on kernel sources, add features & co. you can use kdevelop + linux kernel plugin, here is a guide
http://www.gnurou.org/code/kdevelop-kernel
and a video guide:
http://video.linux.com/videos/kernel-browsing-and-hacking-using-kdevelop
NOTE: for linux kernel plugin ubuntu 13.10 is required
if something is not working or it's not clear or you have useful tips just tell me and i'll update the guide
Nice! I usually use kdevelop + linux kernel plugin, so i have a fast IDE and i can save compilation config, fix warning and errors on the fly, and use git from a gui, it's a good solution for me

Hi!
instead
Code:
sudo apt-get install -y build-essential kernel-package libncurses5-dev bzip2 bin86 libqt3-headers libqt3-mt-dev wget libncurses5 git-core nautilus-open-terminal
can you try to run

because "master" branch (the default branch) is empty.
open a terminal in <root> and type
Code:
git checkout android-msm-hammerhead-3.4-kk-r1
and you will switch from master branch to android-msm-hammerhead-3.4-kk-r1 branch, i think it's the more updated branch for hammerhead. now you should see all the folders and files of your kernel

did you do these steps?
go to "<root>/arch/arm/configs" and copy "<you-device-name>_defconfig" to <root>
rename <you-device-name>_defconfig to ".config"

probably your new .config has got wrong configuration, try to delete .config in <root> (if you don't see it press ctrl+h)
and do again
go to "<root>/arch/arm/configs" and copy "<you-device-name>_defconfig" to <root>
rename <you-device-name>_defconfig to ".config"
this time run the make command without make xconfig

Introduction
When the bluetooth stack changed to Bluedroid in Android 4.2, it was a nightmare to some of the old devices like my GT-P6800. I didn't have any experience in Bluetooth before so I did what I know. I spent weeks to revert the 4.2 platform to Bluez. Even though I succeeded, it probably not doable for 4.3 and later.
Last Nov. I found that bluez.org announced support for Andriod in Sep. It gave me hope again! Thanks to the bluez team!:good: The principle is straight forward - Implement the functions defined in "hardware/libhardware/include/hardware/bluetooth.h". That's what I thought but I didn't have enough knowledge nor confidence to try...
After studying for a while, I started porting bluez to Android 4.4 last Christmas. It was frustrated and helpless. Although the lastest Android 4.4 example for Mako and Flo are out, they don't help much. A bunch of prebuilt kernel objects surely doesn't help! Porting for those devices already having bluedroid support is meaningless to most of us too...
Building the bluez hal and daemon are straight forward but how to make it really work is another story. After a few painful and frustrated weekends, I finally managed to pull everything together. I can start/stop and pairing bluetooth devices in the platform now. And here I'm, sharing my experiences. I think there might be better way and I welcome any corrections.
My p6800 has CSR bluetooth chip which has no bluedroid support. I think the same approach would work for other chips too. Cheers! :highfive:
** All paths assume your rom source dircetory to be the current directory **
1. Downlaod and Build
Bluez.org already has its own tutorial. I just summerize and list my suggestions.
1.1 local manifest
I learned my lesson and would avoid touching the "manifest.xml".
Add the following lines to your ".repo/local_manifests/local_menifest.xml"
For cm11, omni, etc.
Code:
<remote name="gcode" fetch="https://code.google.com/p/"/>
<remote name="korg" fetch="git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/bluetooth/"/>
<remove-project name="android_external_bluetooth_bluedroid"/>
<project remote="korg" path="external/bluetooth/bluez" name="bluez" group="pdk" revision="master"/>
<project remote="korg" path="external/bluetooth/sbc" name="sbc" group="pdk" revision="master"/>
<project remote="gcode" path="external/bluetooth/glib" name="aosp-bluez.glib" group="pdk" revision="master"/>
For AOSP, replace the remove-project with:
Code:
<remove-project name="platform/external/bluetooth/bluedroid"/>
After repo sync, bluez will replace bluedroid.
1.2 patching bionic
The patches for bionic are simple. Mainly by adding two flags and the function epoll_create1().
Bionic may vary from ROMs. It is wiser to patch the bionic of your ROM manually. You may follow the changes of the two commits below:
https://code.google.com/p/aosp-blue...96020013615b00d70579123f&repo=platform-bionic

1.3 neccessary tools
There are tools in "external/bluetooth/bluez/tools". You may need some of those tools for setup or testing.
This is the "Android.mk" I added to "external/bluetooth/bluez/tools". You may cheery pick the required tools for your device.
Code:

1.4 patches for CyanogenMod 11
In CyanogenMod 11, the function "pin_request_cb" has one more argument. The following file need some patches:
in the file "external/bluetooth/bluez/android/hal-bluetooth.c"
Code:
[I]** in function: handle_pin_request[/I]
bt_hal_cbacks->pin_request_cb(addr, name, ev->class_of_dev, 0); // @ daniel, added 0 for cm11
in the file "external/bluetooth/bluez/android/client/if-bt.c"
Code:
[I]** in function: pin_request_cb[/I]
static void pin_request_cb(bt_bdaddr_t *remote_bd_addr, bt_bdname_t *bd_name,
uint32_t cod, uint8_t secure) // @ daniel, added secure from cm11
{
/* Store for command completion */
bt_bdaddr_t2str(remote_bd_addr, last_remote_addr);
pin_request_addr = *remote_bd_addr;
haltest_info("%s: remote_bd_addr=%s bd_name=%s cod=%06x secure=%02x\n", __func__,
last_remote_addr, bd_name->name, cod, secure); // @ daniel, added
terminal_prompt_for("Enter pin: ", pin_request_answer);
}
2. kerenl patch
In the "README" inside "external/bluetooth/bluez/android", there is the line:
Minimal required version of management interface is 1.3. This corresponds to Linux 3.9 but latest available version is recommended.
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
If you have tried porting bluez and fail, check the logcat. You might probably found the error "Failed to access management interface". This is the key making bluez to work! Sadly, most of the existing Android kernels are before ver. 3.9! The latest kernel we have might be ver. 3.4.x and the kernel for my p6800 is ver. 3.0.x! As the above line stated, Bluez5 requires the kernel to have management interface 1.3 or above. That means we have to backport the bluetooth subsystem from at least ver. 3.9. I backport my kernel with the latest (3.13-1) found in linux-foundation.org: http://drvbp1.linux-foundation.org/~mcgrof/rel-html/backports/
It was a tough and painful job! There are lots of changes. I finally got a bootable backport kernel in 2 days!
I packed my patches in View attachment kernel-3.0.x-backport-3.13-1.zip. This patch is for my 3.0.x kernel which might be different from other 3.0.x kernels. Don't have time to tidy up but it works for me. Although I've done the hard part, it still requires extra patience to get yours done. Prepare yourself...
2.1 Backport 3.13-1 to your kernel
Direct replacements.
Replace the following folders in the zip with the one in your kernel source:
drivers/bluetooth
net/bluetooth
include/net/bluetooth
include/backport
Direct replacement might not work!
Check include/linux in the zip
For each file,
add the required part (which I delimited with comments @ daniel and //@ ) to the corresponding file in your kernel source.
If file not exist,
copy the files to your kernel source
Check your defconfig. As README suggested, defconfig should have:
CONFIG_BT
CONFIG_BT_RFCOMM
CONFIG_BT_RFCOMM_TTY
CONFIG_BT_BNEP
CONFIG_BT_BNEP_MC_FILTER
CONFIG_BT_BNEP_PROTO_FILTER
CONFIG_BRIDGE
CONFIG_UHID
# and for CSR chips
CONFIG_BT_HCIUART=y
CONFIG_BT_HCIUART_H4=y
CONFIG_BT_HCIUART_BCSP=y
You probably need to compile the kernel many times to get it work. I worte a build script View attachment build-k.zip to compile the kernel only.
Copy build-k to your ROM source directory and type:
Code:
./build-k <your device>
2.2 Backport-hid-generic to your kernel
There is another patch in the Mako-kern example:
https://code.google.com/p/aosp-blue...eneric-driver.patch?repo=device-lge-mako-kern
Don't know if it is required for your kernel but adding this patch seems doesn't hurt.
If you do it right, you may find "Bluetooth management interface 1.4" in your logcat. Congratulation! Bluetoothd can connect to your kernel now!
3. initialization and setup
Take a look at your devices tree's TARGET_CUSTOM_BLUEDROID definition. If you have a file assigned, it supposed to replace the file "bluetooth.c" in the "system/bluetooth" project. In Android 4.4, this project is no longer exist/needed. Before Android 4.2, this project provide the functions "bt_enable()" and "bt_disable()" which are called in the frameworks. These functions will tell you how to "power on", "power off" and init your device's Bluetooth chip.
For CSR:
set /sys/class/rfkill/rfkill0/state to 1 ("power on")
start the service "bccmd" which will setup the chip and upload a PSConfig to the chip
start the service "hciattach" which init the port hci0 with parameters
start the service "bluetoothd" which is the bluez stack
The services are defined in init.rc or init.${ro.hardware}.rc.
3.1 Test your device and the tools
Disable the "import init.bluetooth.rc" line if you have added it before.
Example for CSR chips. Follow the steps in bt_enable. In a terminal or via adb:
Code:
$ su -- [I][COLOR="SeaGreen"]root user is required[/COLOR][/I]
# echo "1" > /sys/class/rfkill/rfkill0/state
# bccmd -t bcsp -d /dev/ttySAC0 -b 115200 psload -r /system/etc/PSConfig_8811.psr
Loading 0x212c ... done
Loading 0x212d ... done
...
Loading PSKEY_CLOCK_REQUEST_ENABLE ... done
Loading PSKEY_UART_HOST_WAKE ... done
# hciattach -p /dev/ttySAC0 bcsp 3000000 flow
Device setup complete
# hciconfig hci0 up
# hcitool scan -- [I][COLOR="SeaGreen"]turn on a device's bluetooth for testing[/COLOR][/I]
Nexus 4 -- [I][COLOR="SeaGreen"]found the device means bluetooth is working now[/COLOR][/I]
3.2 Init sequence
In Bluez5, the HAL (bluetooth.default.so) driver will be loaded at boot and the daemon (bluetoothd) will be started inside too. Take a look at the function "bool hal_ipc_init(void)" in "external/bluetooth/bluez/android/hal-ipc.c". You may find how the HAL is init which is different from pre-4.2 Androids.
In order to get the daemon (bluetoothd) to work, we have to init the chip before that.
I worte a shell script init.bt.sh to init the chip/port:
Code:
#!/system/bin/sh
# modified by daniel_hk
LOG_TAG="CSR8811-HCI"
BTUART_PORT=/dev/ttySAC0
BTSTATE=/sys/class/rfkill/rfkill0/state
PSCONFIG=/system/etc/PSConfig_8811.psr
logi ()
{
/system/bin/log -t $LOG_TAG -p i ": [email protected]"
}
loge ()
{
/system/bin/log -t $LOG_TAG -p e ": [email protected]"
}
failed ()
{
loge "$1: exit code $2"
exit $2
}
#Enable power of csr chip
echo "1" > $BTSTATE
# PS Config with bccmd
logwrapper /system/bin/bccmd -t bcsp -d $BTUART_PORT -b 115200 psload -r $PSCONFIG
case $? in
0) logi "bccmd init port....done";;
*) failed "port: $BTUART_PORT - bccmd failed" $?;
exit $?;;
esac
# attach HCI
logwrapper /system/bin/hciattach -p $BTUART_PORT bcsp 3000000 flow
case $? in
0) logi "hci attached to : $BTUART_PORT";;
*) failed "port: $BTUART_PORT - hciattach failed" $?;
exit $?;;
esac
exit 0
It takes time for bccmd and hciattach to complete. Putting them in seperate services requires delay in between. I think it is better to run them as application one after one.
A new rc file init.${ro.hardware}.bt.rc is created and need to be imported in your init.${ro.hardware}.rc
Code:
on boot
start bt_init
on property:init.svc.bluetoothd=running
start hci0_up
on property:init.svc.bluetoothd=stopped
start hci0_down
service bt_init /system/bin/logwrapper /system/bin/sh /system/etc/init.bt.sh
class main
user root
group bluetooth net_bt_admin system
disabled
oneshot
service hci0_up /system/bin/logwrapper /system/xbin/hciconfig hci0 up
class main
group bluetooth
disabled
oneshot
service hci0_down /system/bin/logwrapper /system/xbin/hciconfig hci0 down
class main
group bluetooth
disabled
oneshot
import init.bluetooth.rc
Since HAL (bluetooth.default.so) is started quite early, I start the service bt_init at boot. I have tried a few places, daemon might timed out before bt_init finish. It also seems no need to repeat the init process everytime.
When bluetoothd is running (system/core/init will set the property init.svc.bluetoothd=running), set hci0 up with hciconfig. And when the service bluetoothd is stopped, set hci0 down with hciconfig. There might be a better way. Please indulge me if something better coming up.
You may turn ON/OFF bluetooth in settings now. Pairing and file transfer is working too.
4. Further porting
Take a look at the function get_profile_interface() in the file external/bluetooth/bluez/android/hal-bluetooth.c. Some interfaces which frameworks requested are missing.
eg. Bluetooth Handsfree interface
Bluetooth Map Client Interface
Bluetooth Health Interface
Bluetooth GATT InterfaceUpdate: Fully support for Kitkat now. Check the README inside the android folder for detail.
As I mentioned before, I'm new to bluetooth. Further reading is required for me to fix other services. I also don't have enough time now. I have to process the stuck works after the Chinese New Year holiday. :cyclops: Hoping I can continue by the end of Feb. In the mean time, I hope someone have better knowledge may help fix other services.
For those devices don't have bluedroid support, we have a chance to carry on now!
[GUIDE] Porting Bluez to Marshmallow
Check the modified Bluez in my github.
It has been tested with Omni6 (Android-6.0.1_r3)
You have to remove system_bt in local_manifest.xml (similar to bluedroid, check post #1 for detail)
CM needs extra modifications. Will be available after testing.

yeah, it is also defined in if-bt.c but if you check android/Android.mk, only haltest use it. If you want to build haltest, you need to change if-bt.c too.
Take a look the file android/Android.mk which is the make file for android. bluetooth.default.so which cm11 refered to, use the definition in hal-bluetoth.c.

It's in the android folder. In the same place as Android.mk.
If you can't find inside the file, you might have the old version. Try include the project in manifest and sync again.
I have a suggested local_manifest in post #1.
Good luck!

It is a callback. The definition is in cm11 which had changed. That's why we have to add one more argument. (or revert the cm11 commit as you said)
The definition if-bt.c which is a client, is for testing. It has to define the callback which is required in int. Got it?

I have checked your logcat. There is no management interface log. The kernel backport on blietooth subsystem is probably failed.

I foud this dependence in my case: WLAN init need that BT chip is initialized because WLAN ask clock to BT. The intoduction of import init.bluetooth.rc broke this dependence. Fu*king details :cyclops: I hope to save debug time to someone
Thanks, very helpful guide. Following this I was able to get BlueZ working on MSM7x27a. However, instead of dropping the backport sources in the kernel tree I followed this documentation to build the backports as external modules, which looks like a cleaner way to me. This requires building the kernel without BT (and, in cases like this, patching the source to remove some dependencies on built-in BT). This leaves the kernel sources (mostly) untouched, and makes adapting the backport sources easier because you can separately build the modules without doing a full kernel build.
The modules can then be built like this:
Code:
# clean output files
make -C kernel/backports ARCH=arm CROSS_COMPILE="arm-eabi-" KLIB=$OUT/obj/KERNEL_OBJ KLIB_BUILD=$OUT/obj/KERNEL_OBJ mrproper
# configure
make -C kernel/backports ARCH=arm CROSS_COMPILE="arm-eabi-" KLIB=$OUT/obj/KERNEL_OBJ KLIB_BUILD=$OUT/obj/KERNEL_OBJ menuconfig
# build
make -C kernel/backports ARCH=arm CROSS_COMPILE="arm-eabi-" KLIB=$OUT/obj/KERNEL_OBJ KLIB_BUILD=$OUT/obj/KERNEL_OBJ

Yeah! Yours seems better. I was messing with the kernel for a while before backport. Traditional backport kill my WiFi so I did what I knew. I will try yours later.
Any other success would be cheerful.

Sucessfully ported on CyanogenMod 11.0 git (using Bluetooth from AOSP).
HOWTO:
Remove CyanogenMod Bluetooth and grab AOSP version by local_manifest:
Code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<manifest>
<remote name="kernel"
fetch="git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/" />
<remote name="googlecode"
fetch="https://code.google.com/" />
<remove-project name="CyanogenMod/android_external_bluetooth_bluedroid" />
<project remote="kernel" path="external/bluetooth/bluez" name="bluetooth/bluez" groups="pdk" revision="master" />
<project remote="kernel" path="external/bluetooth/sbc" name="bluetooth/sbc" groups="pdk" revision="master" />
<project remote="googlecode" path="external/bluetooth/glib" name="p/aosp-bluez.glib" groups="pdk" revision="master" />
<remove-project name="CyanogenMod/android_packages_apps_Bluetooth" />
<remove-project name="CyanogenMod/android_packages_apps_BluetoothExt" />
<project path="packages/apps/Bluetooth" name="platform/packages/apps/Bluetooth" remote="aosp" revision="refs/tags/android-4.4.2_r1" />
<project path="aosp/packages/apps/Settings" name="platform/packages/apps/Settings" remote="aosp" revision="refs/tags/android-4.4.2_r1" />
<project path="aosp/frameworks/base" name="platform/frameworks/base/" remote="aosp" revision="refs/tags/android-4.4.2_r1" />
<project path="aosp/hardware/libhardware" name="platform/hardware/libhardware/" remote="aosp" revision="refs/tags/android-4.4.2_r1" />
</manifest>
Replace CyanogenMod Bluetooth system with AOSP one:
Code:
rm cm-11.0/hardware/libhardware/include/hardware/bluetooth.h
cp aosp/hardware/libhardware/include/hardware/bluetooth.h cm-11.0/hardware/libhardware/include/hardware/bluetooth.h
rm -rf cm-11.0/frameworks/base/core/java/android/bluetooth
cp -r aosp/frameworks/base/core/java/android/bluetooth cm-11.0/frameworks/base/core/java/android
rm cm-11.0/frameworks/base/services/java/com/android/server/BluetoothManagerService.java
cp aosp/frameworks/base/services/java/com/android/server/BluetoothManagerService.java cm-11.0/frameworks/base/services/java/com/android/server/BluetoothManagerService.java
rm -rf cm-11.0/packages/apps/Settings/src/com/android/settings/bluetooth
cp -r aosp/packages/apps/Settings/src/com/android/settings/bluetooth cm-11.0/packages/apps/Settings/src/com/android/settings
Adapt CyanogenMod with this changes:
Code:
diff --git a/frameworks/base/Android.mk b/frameworks/base/Android.mk

Hello guys,
Soo there was thread made by Vynikal but its some kind of dead and outdated for cm 12.1, i managed to make everything work on my pc and want to help everyone who has problems with building CM12.1 for Flamingo.
ATTENTION!:I or xda-dev are not responsible for any damage to your device,eyes or life, made by hapiness of having cm12.1 built
Requirements:
-Ubuntu 64bit: Tuto
-Stable internet connection, no mobile connection(its not stable enough)
-About 100GB of disk space(if you screw something up you will have some in reserve)
-All fastboot,flashboot and adb drivers installed
-Beefy pc
Lets begin:We will start with preparations
Lets install JDK.
Code:
sudo apt-get update
then:
Code:
sudo apt-get install openjdk-7-jdk
Now you will need to install build packages, they are needed for building CyanogenMod.
Type this in terminal:
Code:
sudo apt-get install bison build-essential curl flex git gnupg gperf libesd0-dev liblz4-tool libncurses5-dev libsdl1.2-dev libwxgtk2.8-dev libxml2 libxml2-utils lzop openjdk-7-jdk openjdk-7-jre pngcrush schedtool squashfs-tools xsltproc zip zlib1g-dev g++-multilib gcc-multilib lib32ncurses5-dev lib32readline-gplv2-dev lib32z1-dev
You will also need USB access for extracting blobs.
Code:
sudo nautilus
This will open file manager as root.
Now you must go through several steps:
1.Click Computer in the left tray of file manager - you will see some folders like: etc
2.Open Folders etc/udev/rules.d/
3.Create new document and name it: 51-android.rules
4.You can close file manager now.
If you done that 4 steps now we can continue. lets fill up that file.
Copy paste that command to console:
Code:
wget -S -O - http://source.android.com/source/51-android.rules | sed "s/<username>/$USER/" | sudo tee >/dev/null /etc/udev/rules.d/51-android.rules; sudo udevadm control --reload-rules
and change <username> to your ubuntu username. in my case it will look like this:
Code:
wget -S -O - http://source.android.com/source/51-android.rules | sed "s/dominik/$USER/" | sudo tee >/dev/null /etc/udev/rules.d/51-android.rules; sudo udevadm control --reload-rules
Now we need to create some directories:
Code:
mkdir -p ~/bin
mkdir -p ~/android/system
Last thing before loong downloading - repo command:
In terminal type:
Code:
curl https://storage.googleapis.com/git-repo-downloads/repo > ~/bin/repo
chmod a+x ~/bin/repo
Now you will need to open .bashrc with gedit its in home (you will see it if you enable Show hidden files or CTRL+H)
add that at the end of file:
Code:
export PATH=~/bin:$PATH
Now open .profile with gedit same as .bashrc its in default direction
paste this code to that file:
Code:
# set PATH so it includes user's private bin if it exists
if [ -d "$HOME/bin" ] ; then
PATH="$HOME/bin:$PATH"
fi
Initializing the repo:Type in terminal:
Code:
cd ~/android/system
repo init -u git://github.com/CyanogenMod/android.git -b cm-12.1
Finally add local_manifest directory and copy-paste file included in attachment(thanks almighty Vynikal)
Code:
Code:
mkdir -p ~/android/system/.repo/local_manifests
And dont-click-the-red-button like command:
Code:
repo sync
And one more command to repair some duplicates in sepolicy
Code:
cd external/sepolicy
git revert 79ff523ac99b339914ccaa754e068072d64da542
Now i have Good and Bad news:
Good: we've done with the preparations.
Bad: this is not the end :silly:
Exporting blobs:Its kinda tricky now, you will need hiper super duper stock rom and USB debugging toggled on + you need to connect your device to ubuntu, just go to devices/usb and chose your phone (its up in the vm tray)
First make sure that you allowed usb debugging(that window that will pop up in phone)
Once again open .profile and copy-paste this:
Code:
if [ -d "<path-to-sdk>/platform-tools" ] ; then
PATH="<path-to-sdk>/platform-tools:$PATH"
fi
And run that command in terminal to install adb and fastboot drivers.
Code:
sudo apt-get install android-tools-adb android-tools-fastboot
Now enter that commands in terminal:
Code:
cd ~/android/system/device/sony/flamingo
./extract-files.sh
Setting up and preparing our files to building
Code:
cd ~/android/system
. build/envsetup.sh
breakfast flamingo
Build
Code:
brunch flamingo

i marked that place. visi0nary told me that 2 files has same paths that interfere each other and doesnt allow to continue with build. soo we found solution, but idk if its my fault or its some typo or other kind of mistake
Fix:
1. Go to android/system/device/sony/msm8226-common/sepolicy
2. Open file_contexts in gedit and add # before last line
it should look like this:
Code:
# Trim Area daemon
/dev/socket/tad u:object_r:tad_socket:s0
# CPU governor controls
/dev/socket/mpdecision(/.*)? u:object_r:mpctl_socket:s0

for actual moment cm 12.1 dont work at all
Woah, it's been a long time since I stopped visiting this forum.
Your tut is kinda good, but I can't tell if something has changed in the past.
Actually those blobs you are extracting should be located in this repo, which is also downloaded through local_manifests, so maybe extracting them again is useless.
Bad luck, this device feels abandoned since the begining.
But hey, does it boot? If yes, progress has been made :cyclops:

nope dont boot at all at any build
and yeah they should be downloaded with it but somehow when i was compiling it there was error that prevented from building it, after extracting that blobs(something might be missing) everyhing went ok
ps. sorry that i used your thread without permission

No worries, I have no plans on this forum. My E3 is broken, beaten and scarred. And with Firefox OS installed.
I was always wondering why the hell no CM12 build boots. I guess I won't know anytime soon.

propably not because it doesnt work for my wariant(selinux or fstab problem ) cm 12 works perfectly but on D2203, idk about other wariants.
Hi,
I'd ask this in the development forum but unfortunately that has a 10 post minimum, and i currently have 1 post.
I'm trying to compile lineage-16.0 for zerofltexx.
I tried using the local_manifests file from various github repositories (for instance enesuzun2002's and TeamNexus's) but am running into errors with android_hardware_samsung_slsi-cm_exynos7420.
I was wondering if someone could shine some light on how i would go about compiling this.
The errors i am running into are:
hardware/samsung_slsi-cm/exynos7420/mobicore/daemon/Common/CWsm.h:56:33: error: implicit conversion of NULL constant to 'uint64_t' (aka 'unsigned long') [-Werror,-Wnull-conversion]
hardware/samsung_slsi-cm/exynos7420/mobicore/daemon/Daemon/MobiCoreDriverDaemon.cpp:217:56: error: unused parameter 'connection' [-Werror,-Wunused-parameter]
To name a few (more information can easily be provided).
Since this repository hasnt been updated in quite some time and there are multiple unofficial roms for the zerofltexx i imagine i am doing something utterly wrong.
Does anyone have any experience with this?
Thanks a lot
Edit:

Thanks so much for the help so far, i really appreciate it.
I've tried compiling with your local_manifests and it gets past the errors that i posted before.
It gets all the way to around 96% but unfortunately still gets a build error.
Is this something i've misconfigured?
The current build error is:

Edit: I've just found something that says its possibly a CPU problem.
Since i'm building inside a VM, i'll try building without a VM to see if this fixes the problem.
Edit2: Unfortunately compiling outside of my VM did not work.

Any specific number i should be looking for?
edit: 1 core and 8GB of ram did not change anything, but since the other solution i found said its that i'm missing SSE4.1 support in my cpu im not sure less of anything would be better?
I'll try building on a different CPU, but this will be tomorrow at the earliest unfortunately.
Here's a late update,
Building with a more modern CPU did the trick, apparently you really do need SSE4.1 support.
Thanks a lot!
I have the same error but my CPU have SSE 4.1 support
