No I can't have you, as I'm not interested in a relationship right now. But the moto g for $99 is the verizon model (CDMA) last time I checked. ATT is not compatible.

Verizon and Boost versions are both CDMA and not compatible with AT&T.
I have the Boost version and flashed to Verizon version to use on PagePlus which runs on Verizon Wireless

So the boost version can be unlocked?
I wonder if you can unlock the Verizon version after 6 months

So the boost version can be unlocked?
YES I've unlocked mine without a problem then flashed with Verizon firmware and use on PagePlus. You won't be able to use it with Verizon prepaid or post paid
I wonder if you can unlock the Verizon version after 6 month?
I wouldn't count on it. The only thing you may be able to do after six months is move from prepaid to a post paid plan. Other then being able to change plan type your probably out of luck. There is a bounty offered to find a way to unlock but so far no solution.

Anyone know if the U.S. Cellular version can be unlocked? It is $79.99

YES
I don't know about US cel version

How do you like Page Plus? how does it compare to VZW prepaid? I'm paying $45 per month for 1GB data and unlimited talk & text, coverage is the same as it was with my last CDMA straight talk phone.
Made the mistake of buying two Verizon Moto G's
Sounds like I should have bought one and one boost, or maybe the U.S. cel ver.

[Q] Moto G CDMA Straight Talk

Okay so January 9th has passed and Best Buy is now "officially" selling the Prepaid Verizon Moto G in stores and online. I've searched online over the past few days and even on the forum and I can not find anything regarding information about flashing the Moto G CDMA version to Straight Talk. :crying:
The closest thing that I have found is a Verizon CSR telling me that the Moto G CDMA is not usable on a contract plan (for six months or some jazz). I already know the Moto G GSM can be used via Straight Talk's BYOP program ( I saw that thread in the forums), but I want to know if I can use the CDMA version as well? I know the phone itself seemingly meets all the requirements but I don't have a handset handy to check the ESN/MEID/IMEI on the Straight Talk website to confirm compatibility.
Anyone have any info?
I hope someone figures something out, I can't pay 50$ for 6 months for 1gb/month when I'm getting 2.5gb for 45$...
There is no 'flashing' involved in getting an unlocked phone to work with an MVNO. This of course may not be the case with Verizon Moto G's sold in their stores however...
If you find one on display in a store somewhere try entering in its information here
http://www.straighttalk.com/wps/portal/home/h/byop/registration#.UtmhMhCwLXo
to find out if it's possible to register. Then you'll know if it's technically possible. A Verizon Moto G may still be locked to their network however and the only way you'd be able to find that out is to purchase the phone and activate service with straight talk. If the software is locked a dev may be able to create a rom without that limitation as has been done in the past for example the HTC Rezound, which was a Verizon Global phone that restricted using any US carrier GSM SIM, before devs got around to making a ROM that circumvented that restriction.
Good luck, if it works that's just one more wireless option available at an even cheaper price. Unfortunately I have no idea how good ST's CDMA network is, do they just piggyback off Verizon?
There have been attempts to activate the Verizon Moto G on Page Plus reported on Howard Forum. They were unsuccessful.

Is it possible to get the SPC/MSL code?
I believe that the Moto G sold under Verizon is a CDMA phone. No GSM radios inside. You can flash the phone all you want, but you're not going to get it to work on any networks that use the GSM radios like T-Mobile, straight talk, or AT&T...I think people need to be aware of this fact in all the other posts about trying to use a CDMA only phone on GSM networks...I have never heard of an unlocked CDMA phone that works with all the CDMA frequencies in the U.S. also, I've never heard of a prepaid CDMA phone being able to be used through an MVNO...contract Verizon phones can be, but only the high end phones like the Samsung galaxy line or an apple iPhone which has both CDMA and GSM radios.

Straight Talk introduced a BYOP CDMA program a while back, and I've had pretty good luck so far when it comes to flashing unlocked CDMA phones over. One of the biggest setbacks to this program though, is the fact that it does NOT support 4g LTE Verizon phones. With the ST program being locked to 3g only phones, you can imagine why everyone was so stoked to see such a decent handset come out that wasn't a 4g phone.
You kind of went on a rant due to a mis-communication. Apologies.

GSM version "flashed to" straight talk? You don't "flash" a GSM device to anything. You pop your SIM in and go.
If you want to use Straight Talk, you are FAR better off getting the GSM variant.

Thanks for catching that. I updated the OP.
I don't have an extra 200 dollars lying around for the GSM version of the Moto G, otherwise I wouldn't have even bothered starting a thread. I was merely curious to see if anyone had any success with flashing the CDMA version to Straight Talk since the phone meets all the technical requirements of the program.
What is the situation with getting a more thorough guide on doing the flash for the Moto G?
I see some people are getting their phones activated but very little details on how they were able to do it. There are bits and pieces of info posted but its so scattered and incomplete that it is been hard for novices to get a handle on how to do it themselves.

I am was hoping for more detailed info on flashing a Boost Moto G in particular.
If you want to flash that Boost phone to work on Verizon towers, go to Kitty Wireless on Tapatalk, and there are guys there that can flash your phone for Page Plus. A great third party provider.

There is a tutorial here and on HoFo, its not too difficult to do. You basically flash the vzw software to the Boost phone. It over the air activates and everything works. With the Boost version at $79 this week at Target its a great deal.

I would like to know this as well. I doubt that it will "bypass" VZWs 6month blacklist because the Boost MotoGs IMEI still will not be in VZWs system. Meaning it can not be activated on a paid account. (maybe i am incorrect)
Can you give a link to HoFo and which VZW software they are flashing?
I am assuming you would only need to flash the Radio file and possibly the Kernel. Problem is I have not found those files yet.
Nevermind, answered my own question. Its exactly what I thought.
Here is the link to the HoFo thread: http://www.howardforums.com/showthr...o-G-to-Page-Plus?highlight=boost+moto+verizon
And the link to the XDA thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2681166
So has anyone been successful with this yet? I want to make sure a CDMA Moto G works with straight talk before I go buying it. Any confirmation?

Buying a Moto G in the states for abroad. Verizon or unlocked version?

Hi All
I`m travelling to the states in a few weeks and was interested in picking up a new phone , namely the Moto G. I noticed best buy have two versions
an verizon no contract for $99 and an unlocked for $202. The downside is that they only seem to have the verizon in store , the other has to be ordered in.
Anyone know what the best option is, would the verizon need to be unlocked for use on a foreign network? If so ,is that a straight forward job?
And also, is the verizon version ok for rooting? I read somewhere its not possible.
Thanks in advance
If you are getting one for abroad , get the international GSM version. Here's why:
1. The Verizon Moto G is CDMA only, which means it will only work on Verizon and cannot be unlocked for use on a GSM network in another country.
2. The Verizon Moto G cannot have its bootloader unlocked because Verizon mandates that so you cannot root it at all.

[Q] What can I do with the prepaid Verizon Moto G?

So I know it's CDMA so ATT and T-Mobile compatibility is out. But how about unlocking it for Sprint?
Page plus.

I actually bought 2 of them the other day for $70. My son & I are using them like iPod-like devices. I disabled a bunch of apps and used Nova Launcher to hide the dialer & messaging app. It is such the upgrade over my old Eris that the boy was using before!

Nope. The only thing it will work on is VzW pre-paid. The Boost version can be flashed over to Page Plus and I believe Selectel (but NOT Straight Talk or Net10), but the VzW version can't go anywhere, as the bootloader is locked and cannot be unlocked.
In any case, why would you want to? If you like the Sprint network, buy the Boost version instead of VzW.

AT&T LG V10 on Cricket

Hi,
Just curious if the AT&T Lg v10 would work on cricket? I have been buying factory unlocked phones for the past year and half so am a bit out of loop. I know older att phone models worked on cricket but I did see a few cases of it not working in the newer threads online. Just want to check before getting it.
Thanks

You can buy a locked AT&T V10 and use it on Cricket (owned by AT&T). It does not need to be unlocked. Same applies for any AT&T MNVO too. In theory, but it seems youve found people posting that for them their phones haven't worked...

Thanks man. I know in theory it should work just a bit hesitant since ATT has been having a lot of new restrictions with new android phones like bootloader lock.

All carriers used to be boot loader locked. That's not new. And as far as AT&T and T-Mobile they welcome each others phones, they like stealing each others customers.
Verizon phone cricket service
Wanted to share I bought a Verizon v10 off eBay (they come unlocked out of the box) took it to cricket, tweaked a few settings and it's worked perfectly for three weeks now.
Im using my v10 on Cricket right now and it works well! Just wont get any updates unless you use an att active sim card.
My v10 is from AT&T and I currently use it on cricket.
My GF's v10 is from Verizon, and she also uses it on cricket. She just had to set the apn.
I use my locked ATT V10 on crickets network. The only real issue is so far it can't update to MM since I'm not a ATT customer.
Bought an lgv10 Unlocked Verizon currently on cricket but won't get any service every time I try to turn my data on it says to contact customer service I don't know what to do please help

do you have the APN settings correct? if not, enter the correct APN, enable it, then restart your phone. it should work.
you can just slip in the sim card and hope it works. find your APN settings...

They make you select a carrier before checkout. The carrier unlocked version will be released in a month.
Just pick Verizon and it will be unlocked for sure day one
Ok cool that's what I was wondering. I know it's that way with my iPhone 7 I didn't know if it'd be the same for android
The simple way is to order from B&H... It's the unlocked international model SM-955F.... $840 + local tax
While that would be nice I'll be using the Samsung financing
I have ordered form very.co.uk (catalogue company) fully unlocked no carrier selection needed

But are we sure that the hardware is the same for all US models and it is as simple as flashing the appropriate firmware to get them working on other carriers?
Also, if you buy the Verizon model, it will never work on Sprint since Sprint won't whitelist it.

If you are on Sprint and you buy any other model but Sprint's model, it will not work on Sprint because Sprint won't whitelist it.
If you buy Verizon's model, it will be unlocked out of the box and if it is like the S7/7E, you can flash the GSM carrier's firmware to it and use it on the GSM carriers. But it will never work on Sprint for the reasons I stated.

It's not the same at all. With the iPhone 7, it has the firmware to run on all 4 networks. That has never been true of the Samsung androids. They only have the firmware to run on the particular carrier they are branded for.
Although the Verizon S7/7E is SIM unlocked, it won't work properly on the GSM carriers without flashing the firmware for the GSM carriers. We won't know whether you can do that for the S8/8+ until they are released. However, the Verizon model will never work on Sprint because Sprint will not whitelist the Verizon model. In contrast, Sprint will whitelist the Verizon iPhones since they have the firmware to run on all 4 carriers.
It's totally different with iPhones than with Androids.
Thanks for.clearing.everything up. I have verizon so I will be getting a verizon phone. Just wasnt sure if I would be able to switch carriers in the future
