Hey there. Just wondering if the general xda community could help me with a problem. My phone thinks there is headphones plugged in at all times. My sppealer still works fine tho and I've found a way to hear notifications, alarms and phone rings. I'm looking for a way to permanently override the headset to have all sounds played on my speaker, including music and phone calls . Any ideas?

Try downloading an app called RecForge from the Google Play Store and record a short audio clip. If you don't hear any audio when playing it back then you may have a hardware issue and a legit reason to exchange it at the place where you purchased it.
Also, have you loaded a custom ROM on your device or are you using the stock OS?
Well yea I'm running a custom ROM
It only happens at work.

Which ROM are you running? Some of the earlier versions of CM10 had microphone issues that were causing what you are explaining.
I called htc tonight to find out why I can't listen to my music on my phone through the aux cable(it comes out through the phones speaker), and she told me I need a 3.5 mm aux cable that is certified to work with the one s. Does anyone know what she's talking about? Is there a special audio cable I need? Thank you.

I use a normal 3.5 mm aux cable in my car...no special "certified for the one s" one.

Thank you. I've tried 3 different ones with 2 different one s and the sound comes out of the one s speaker not through the car speakers like it should.

Are you on a 4.2 ROM?
Sent from my HTC One S using xda app-developers app
No. Completely stock. 4.0.4. If I plug headphones in it works fine just won't play through car speakers. Am I missing a setting somewhere? Thank you.
Sent from my HTC VLE_U using xda app-developers app
No it should just detect it, I would say its something wrong with your cars aux input if you've tried multiple aux cables and devices.

Problem with that is, I've tried it in 3 different cars with 3 different cables with 2 different one s. Really bizarre.

Then it's your phone. Take it to your carrier and ask them to change it. Are you running a custom ROM? That might also be the issue.
Thank you. I've already exchanged the phone once and it happens on my other one s also. We have 2 t-mobile one s and it happens with both off them and the one I replaced. 3 different cables, 3 different cars, 3 different one s. And I am on stock Rom android version 4.0.4.

What app are you using to play your music? That may be the only common factor...

Default music player
Hello, I am using the default music player. I have tried tune in radio and the same thing. I will try google music today and see if there's any change. Does anyone have the brand of they cable they use and I can get one and try it. My aux cables work with other phones including Galaxy s3 not not sure why they wouldn't work with these phones. Thank you.

The problem isn't the cables if they work for other phones.
The problem is either hardware, or you.
I don't see how your phone works with headphones, but not with an aux cable. It's the same thing.

AW: 3.5 mm aux cable
Right now I think it's the car.
Which car do you have?

He's tried it in multiple cars.
For my phone even if I just plug in the aux to my phone and leave the other end unplugged the audio goes through the aux.

Still nothing
I spoke with a nice woman from T-Mobile and she said two people she works with have the One S and she is going to take them to her car and try them both and get me the firmware version and the brand of Aux cable she is using, I bought a new Aux cable to try in the meantime and still no sound through car speakers. I tried all 3 cars, I then took our old MyTouch 4g and tried that and it worked in all 3 cars. Really strange issue. We'll see what she comes up with, otherwise she says I can return the phones for another brand but I really like this phone and would like to keep it. Thank you everyone who responded and I'll keep you posted, In the meantime, keep the suggestions coming, Thank you.

You can manually force the audio to come out the aux using an app. It would get annoying, but it should work.

Never called
So, It's now Wednesday evening and the nice woman from T-Mobile never called back. She was supposed to call Tuesday morning. I can see why they are bottom on the customer satisfaction ratings. I'll have to live with the fact that I can't play music through my car stereo I guess. Thank you all for the suggestions. Really disappointed with T-Mobile right now. Been a customer for 13 years and I notice how each year the support gets worse.

Ok maybe I'm missing something here but do you have a cover on your phone? Maybe the headphones plug all the way in but not your cable? I use monster and griffin brands and both work fine.
Edit:Also if you have been with T-Mobile for a long time (I've been with them for 12 yaers) then when you call tell them you want to talk to customer loyalty team they will hook you up.

Thanks for the suggestions. I do not have a cover on either phone and the aux cable is as far in as possible. I'll have to try customer loyalty and see off that works. So far nothing. I don't know what the odds are of the phones not working on one of 3 aux cables and 3 different cars, but I'd say it should work on at least one of them. All of my other phones have worked on all 3. I'll try calling again. Thank you.

Hi everyone!
I'm having trouble with my microphone on HTC Sensation. I've replaced microphone because i thought it was broken (I heard just beeping in any recorder app and when I was calling, the other side can't hear me) and after replace there is a same problem. I've tried some custom ROMs and MIC is still not working. Have anybody the same problem?
Thanks for your answers (And I'm sorry for my English)

I installed Cyanogenmod 11 on my HTC One Mini and have been experiencing mic sensitivity issues. People cannot hear me on skype, and when I call people they say it sounds like im holding my mic 10ft away. Is there any apps or tweaks that would allow me to boost the sensitivity of my mic.

I did this, it said it was successful, I rebooted, got "android is upgrading", let it upgrade, after I checked my kernel and it didnt change. Its still the same one.

The One Mini seems to be having some microphone issues with the CyanogenMod. In my case Viber is very silent and people on the other end can barely hear me. Regular phone calls work fine but only if I'm not using hands-free, with the hands-free the mic problem appears again.
I'm waiting to see if this will be fixed once a stable version of the CM11 is released, we can't expect everything to be working flawlessly with nightly builds
