RAZR Maxx OTA .165. I rooted then install SS 3.65 and Titanium backup. My phone was slowing down so I decided to wipe using SS and recover to factory software. I now cannot figure out how to reroot so I can use Titanium to restore files. How do gain root back?
Also can you suggest a ROM for other slots...I was trying to install Liquid Smooth...but I didn't know if I had to load g-apps before or after ROM is installed.
Thanks Ken

I have a rooted Moto G phone. It is android 4.3 , I cant update it to 4.4.2 Kitkat for some reason.
I saved Kitkat to the SD Card, loaded into Recovery mode on the MOTO, then tried to install Android 4.4.2 from the .zip file
saved on the SD card in my phone.
I cant get this to work and i tried to install CARBON ROM the same way with out any results.. it says ERROR and fails to install.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
ALSO does android need to be updated to 4.4.2 to install CARBON ROM?
Thanks
I don't know but maybe can help...
I could update successfully to last minor 176.44.1 update only after flashing stock recovery.img from my exact stock ROM.
after rooting process on KitKat motoG my recovery was modified, restoring the stock one worked for me. I just updated ota normally in WiFi without problems.
after that I flashed cwm recovery.
I restored to stock recovery and removed root. After that applied KitKat OTA, then flashed custom recovery and re-rooted.

this involve wiping of all data and a factory reset, so first try just restoring the stock recovery.
If not working make a good backup first.
If the phone is rooted, OTA updates do not work afaik...

Flashing a ROM overwrites system partition completely. You could have android version 1 running and still just flash another ROM
I have a Verizon Samsung S3 (4.4.3) and I would like to backup the system before I try a custom rom.
It was rooted with Towelroot
I have Titanium Backup Pro, SuperSU and ESFileExplorer installed.
I have been trying to install TWRP using Odin. I tried installing both 2.6.3.1 and 2.7.1.0 d2vzw.tar but both failed.
I went looking in the Play Store for GooManager but it is not there.
Is there another relatively easy way to install TWRP or make a system backup to an external SDcard through USB.
Any help would be appreciated.

Your bootloader is LOCKED with 4.3 or 4.4.2 therefore you CANNOT install a custom recovery, and don't try unlocking the bootloader as it will brick your phone. The only custom ROM's you can install are the few Touchwiz ones that are available. You won't be able to install any AOSP
Using the search box would've saved you time.
I have a Boost Mobile Moto G running stock 4.4.2 rooted with CWM recovery. I would like to know how to upgrade it to 4.4.4 with root but I am not sure what to flash next or to make a nandroid backup. Should I install stock recovery and install the update or flash some zip for recovery.

If you want to remain with stock ROM, make a nandroid backup, flash stock recovery and do an update. Re-root and re-flash CWM after if you wish.
Alternatively, try an alternative ROM like CM11, Omni, PA etc. You can use CWM recovery to simply flash your new rom (after full wipe). Don't forget to take a nandroid backup AND a data backup of contacts, all app-data, sms/mms, bookmarks etc with apps like Titanium, MyBackup or Carbon/Helium.
This is what you can do
Step 1: download the update on your stock 4.4.2 rom.
Step 2: plug your phone into your computer and reboot to fastboot mode 3: pretend your flashing stock firmware (no u won't loose any data or have to reset)
Step 4: flash everything in order BUT*** exclude mfastboot erase userdata and mfastboot erase cache.
Step 5: after u exclude those 2 commands reboot your phone using mfastboot reboot
Step 6 your phone will reboot however any tweaks, modifications, and anything involving root will be disabled temporarily since u basically reverted back to stock without fully factory reseting.
Step 7: Go to settings and install your update (itll take about 10-15) minutes
Step 8: once its done go back to fastboot mode reflash your recovery and your root and reboot and your good to go ull be on 4.4.4 rooted and stock recovery
Side Note : Making a 4.4.2 back up is useless because after u upgrade you can't downgrade
Im on 4.4.4 XT1031 Boostmobile
Custom Recovery (TWRP) and rooted

No M10 snapshot yet
I also might install CM11 but there is no M10 snapshot, so thats why i'm on stock until the latest M snapshot is released for it.
