NS car charger output specs?

Hi all.
What is the recommended voltage and amperage output for a car charger for my NS?
I got an aftermarket one here that is 5vdc/500mA, but my NS gets really hot while charging with this one.
Thanks

The NS will get hot while charging, especially if it's being used at the same time. It's normal.
You definitely want more than 500 mA though. The NS can easily draw more than 500 mA while in use. 1A car chargers are easy to find and will work much better.
5V is a requirement though. That's standard USB voltage. The voltage doesn't change from charger to charger.
1A. Great, thanks for the response.

[Q] Portable battery charging speed

I have a TENERGY 10000mAh battery charger with 2 ports. A 2.1A and a 1A.
Any reason why the 1A charges faster than the 2.1A? I have the battery monitor app.
Thanks

[q] charging nexus 5 with samsung s charger pad ??

Hey guys!
I've got a Samsung S Charger Pad (Model: EP-P1001EWE) and i am not sure if i should use it to charge my Nexus 5.
It's an inductive charging Pad.
Will it ruin my battery or isn't there any danger?
Facts:
- It does charge
- There didn't come an actual charger with the Qi Pad, so i am running it with my Nexus 5 Charger (which can be plugged into the pad by micro USB)
- My Nexus 5 Charger has an Output of: 5V/1,2A
- The Qi Charger says: Input: 5V/2.0A
Thanks for your help!
The Samsung charger pad uses the Qi standard so you should be fine. The output and input voltage of the charger match so that's okay, but since your charger supplies a lower current than the Qi charger takes, it might charge your phone slower than it should.

The original Google Qi Charger has an input of 9V and 1.8A.
Does that change anything?

The Qi output should be the same regardless so you should be fine.

So i can buy a charger with the right output (matching the Pads input) and can use it as normal?

Yep, although unless the pad is currently charging your phone noticeably slower than it takes to charge it by cable, it might not be worth bothering.

It does charge pretty slow... So i ordered one! Thanks for the help! I'll be telling you guys if it was worth it

Nexus wireless charger rate?

Hello everyone.
Does anyone by chance know the charging rate (in MV) for the official wireless charger?
I just want to make sure mine is charging correctly.
Logging using battery widget monitor it fluctuates between 580-700 MV/minute. Does this sound normal?
Thank you!!!

I meant volt. Sorry

If the amperage is more it won't make a difference, all usb chargers should be 5v. If the amperage is less than that of the HTC charger it may not charge or register a charge but actually discharge (fatal to a lipoly battery if it drops too low). The amperage is the maximum load the device can safely output the 5v. If the charger was rated at only 0.5amp then the voltage would drop (it might only output 2v or spike randomly) if the phone tried to draw more, if the charger used shoddy conponants then it may overheat and set on fire.
A higher amp rating is fine, infact you may get a cleaner output. For example your wall outlet might be rated at 13amp but you can plug in a 1amp shaver or a 13amp kettle - it makes no difference.
