[Q] Liquid E2 Duo V370 SIM Toolkit STK or Lycamobile issue? - General Questions and Answers

Apologies if this is not the correct forum but I did not see a specific one for the Acer Liquid E2.
I have the Acer Liquid E2 Duo V370 dual sim phone running Android 4.2.2, with build Acer_AV061_V370_1.032.00_WW_GEN1. I have a Lycamobile UK SIM and a Toggle UK SIM in the phone (for info, Lycamobile and Toggle are effectively the same company). With Lycamobile and Toggle you sometimes need to use the SIM Toolkit to access the SIM itself to switch/latch modes on the phone to select the network. SIM Toolkit will not let me access the Lycamobile SIM on this phone, but has no problem with any other SIM and the Toggle one). If I swap SIM slots to see if that is the issue I still cannot access the Lycamobile SIM. If I put the Lycamobile SIM in another Android I can access the SIM OK and change the settings I need to there. I am just mystified as to why the V370 is not able to recognize the Lycamobile SIM.
Lycamobile does appear in the list when I open SIM Toolkit but if i click on it I get the message "Application is not installed on your phone".
If I go into Manage Apps I can see 2 SIM Toolkit entries there: one is titled SIM Toolkit, one is called SIM Tool Kit. SIM Tool Kit is version 4.2.2 eng.call2.13888656137; SIM Toolkit is Version 1.0.
As for swapping SIMs into different slots I have tried almost every variation possible I think: I put the Lycamobile in slot 1, same error, and then slot 2, same error; I tried it with the Toggle in slot 1 and slot 2 and it works as expected each time; I have tried it with Toggle in slot 1, Lycamobile slot 2, same error, Lycamobile in slot 1, Toggle in slot 2, same error. Later tonight I am going to get the other phone out and see if I can see if there is an obvious difference but SIM Toolkit has been around for years so this is very confusing to me - Lycamobile obviously have the stuff on the SIM that should be there but the V370 does not like it. I have also put other SIMS in both slots and all are read successfully
The other phone is a ZTE V790 Android 4.0.4, SIM Toolkit is 4.0.4-20121213.152757.26676. With one SIM enabled in phone I have SIM Toolkit in the app list, when I enable the second SIM, then SIM Toolkit2 appears in the list and I can access the Lycamobile SIM just fine.
Any clues as to why the Lycamobile SIM not recognized on this one particular device (Acer V370) but is fine in others? I have asked Lycamobile but we are bandying emails at the moment and not really getting anywhere.
For people that have smartphones that do not have SIM Toolkit installed, is there a set of #### codes you give them to choose between Automatic and Manual modes? If so, I am happy to use those as a circumvention if you can provide them to me.
The phone is rooted and I have the stock Acer ROM installed.
Thanks.

Have you managed to fix it somehow?
Did u checked your setting?
Yes I have checked all the settings. Actually with dual sim settnigs - Sim1 is disabled and is not enabled even if the Sim 1 is inserted.
Warranty repair perhaps?

Sounds like it could be an issue with the sim slot hardware. If your device is under warranty perhaps a warranty repair or replacement?

OP8 IN2017 (TMO) to Global Dual SIM

Has anyone been able to get dual SIM working on their T-Mobile OP8 after flashing to the Global ROM?
I have a dual SIM tray and whenever I insert two SIMs, I get service on the first, and the second is recognized, but refuses to connect to any network. This applies to any second SIM inserted. The IMEI numbers are showing as the same for IMEI1 and IMEI2, but that shouldn't be an issue as far as I can tell.
Thanks!
I have same issue did you find any fix? Please let me know

Follow these instructions at your own risk. I am NOT responsible for you bricking your device. If you are new to this I advise you to do it with someone who is experienced and knows what he/she is doing.
I was recently able to "rebrand" my OnePlus 8 T-Mobile 5G phone from the T-Mobile version to the European version using these steps (I tried with the GLOBAL version but it DID NOT work):
1. Unlock the bootloader. Steps given in:
https://www.oneplus.com/support/answer/detail/op588
2. I was able to to use the MSMTool_instantnoodle_tmo_15_O.06_200411.zip to go back to 10.5.7.IN55CB
(OnePlus T-Mobile Android build) using the method given in (GLOBAL version FAILED for me here) :
Instructions: https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-8/how-to/op8-unbrick-tool-to-restore-device-to-t4093043
Tool: https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=4349826312261823571
3 Repeat Step 1. Go to Step 4.
4. Next, I upgraded to 10.5.9.IN21BA (OnePlus European Android build) by flashing 10.5.9-EUROPE-OnePlus8Oxygen_15.E.18_OTA_018_all_2007160043_913306-FASTBOOT.zip using the method given in:
Instructions: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/rom-stock-fastboot-op8-stock-fastboot-roms-for-oneplus-8.4084629/
Tool: https://sourceforge.net/projects/fastbootroms/files/OnePlus 8/
5 Repeat Step 1. Go to Step 6.
6. Finally, I upgraded the phone to the latest OnePlus Android version for this phone through System Update to 11.0.9.9.IN21BA (OnePlus European Android build). Now Dual Sim capability is installed but it does NOT show.
7. Relock the bootloader and NOW dual sim capability shows under SIM & Network.
What I don't understand is that the model, IN2017 (T-Mobile), remains the same but when you boot the phone, the T-Mobile logo does NOT show and it boots like a non-T-Mobile OnePlus phone. I expected the model to change to the European model number (IN2013). My goal was to get Dual-Sim working as it has been banned by carriers here in the good ol' USA. My phone now shows 2 sim cards, originally it only showed 1. Now I have to verify what signals it really works with (5G, 4G ?) and if the dual sim capability works.

I went to Verizon yesterday with the setup written above and the second sim did register as Verizon with the first card in slot 1 as T-Mobile. The problem was that we only tested it with 5G. 5G did NOT work with both sim cards placed. I should have put my phone in 4G to see if THAT works. I will go to another Verizon store later in the week to see if it will work in 4G with both sim cards. Hopefully it will.
I went to the Verizon store yesterday and they said that I needed to open an account and activate my phone with that account in order for the Verizon service to work. I was under the impression that all you needed was a Sim card with an active Verizon account and a phone with a good IMEI. I asked them to use a spare Verizon card at the store to test it just to make sure it would work. He wanted me to sign up first which I wasn't going to do. I will have to find another store. Am I correct in assuming that you can just use the sim card from another phone and the service should automatically work ? Or do I have to "register" that phone with Verizon ? F%^k Verizon. Thank you.
So I went to the Verizon store yesterday and brought my OnePlus 8 (IN2017 updated with Oxygen OS 11.0.9.9IN21BA European version). I brought it in unlocked and the Verizon clerk told me it was "dangerous" to leave it unlocked and advised me to lock it (of course I did not). I had my phone set to LTE (4G) under network settings and the two SIMs slots were showing with the first one occupied by T-Mobile. The clerk placed a Verizon SIM card on the 2nd slot and the phone recognized it but IT DID NOT work (messages nor calls). So apparently, according to other users over the web, the blockage of service is coming from the carriers (T-Mobile, Verizon, etc.) themselves. They frown upon dual sim capability and until there are enough complaints to make them change their stance they will continue to refuse to provide dual sim service. It may work in Europe and Asia, but here in the US, not a chance. Talk about UNFREE market.

Sim 2 not working/ Unable to enable after update

I have bought OnePlus 8 used. At that time dual sim was working fine. However, the phone was not updated. When i started updating there were 3 updates pending and phone downloaded and installed them one after another.
After update i noticed tha sim 2 is not showing in status bar. In settings sim 2 is showing, however when i tap on it, the menu is all gray out and the enable button cannot be taped/ enabled.
It also shows the sim 2 operator name and sim number but cannot enable it.
When i remove sim tray it also shows no sim icon in status bar with 2 sims icon.
I have tried replacing sim cards, restarting with areoplane mode but no luck.
Please help how can i again start using the sim 2 as it was working fine before update.

Perhaps, after each update, it was necessary to check the operation of both SIMs, or perhaps it became too many changes at once and a conflict appeared somewhere.
If you installed OTA update, try to backup important data first, remove both SIMs, restore the phone to factory settings and insert the SIM cards one at a time (restart after inserting and setting the first SIM).
