Keep S3 or upgrade to S4? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

Hi all, I don't know if I am asking this in the right forum? I have had the S3 for a while now and I love it!
Recently I was told by a Verizon rep that I could trade in an activated phone and get the new EDGE program for $10.50 a month, instead of the reg price of $21 a month. I have a Fascinate phone that I could activate and use instead of my S3. I think all I have to do is swap the fascinate and the S3 and that would work.
My question to you guys, is it worth it? My contract is not up until Nov 23 of this year, but if I trade in an activated phone, I could upgrade now.
Is the S4 too locked down? Right now I am running CR Core and I do not have the Knox security on my phone.
Thanks for your advice.
Heather

AT&T customer, renewing on the 18th...

Well I'm on the verge of smashing my TP2 daily, and the 18th of this month could not come soon enough. That is when I will be eligible to upgrade and renew my contract. I was originally looking at the Samsung Captivate (Galaxy S), but the Nexus S is coming out Thursday for T-Mobile, and I have heard that it will be unlocked from the factory, which to my understanding means that it will work with AT&T....is this correct? I have watched a couple reviews on the tube, and do understand that the Nexus S is basically a dressed up Captivate with Gingerbread, a flash, front facing camera, and no expandable memory. But for me, I wouldn't mind paying the $200 for the Nexus, knowing that I can have the Captivate for free through WRFLY.
My question is: Will I be able to get the Nexus S for AT&T without paying full retail ~$600, and if so when and where. Or are there any better options that are no more than a few months away, because I'm going to smash my TP2 Office Space style if it locks up on me again.
Thanks for the advice guys.

If you really want the Nexus S, then go for the AT&T Nexus one because they have almost identical specs except a few. Plus there are currently no suggestions from Google that an AT&T version will be out, that is it could in the future, but for now you have manage with EDGE, also No you cant get the Nexus for discount or rebate, as AT&T doesnt seem to be interested in google phones.

(Q) About SIMs and AT&T's policies

Ok, so hopefully someone can answer my question about this...
Right now, I have an AT&T Galaxy SII. Tommorow is my last day to restock and get a new phone. I want to import a Galaxy Note from Europe, the cheapest and in stock I've found was $800. So... tommorow I was planning on restocking my Galaxy SII for an Iphone 4s <----- for a higher retail price when I sell it.
My questions are...
If I do buy a Galaxy Note, will I keep my Grandfathered Data Plan with AT&T even if I don't swap out the SIM and take it to the store for a SIM?
The Iphone 4s is gonna be a pain in the ass because of it's damn micro SIM, so if I take the Note to my AT&T store, will they try to force a new plan on me or will I just be able to request a new SIM.
What if I don't restock my GSII for the Iphone 4s and lose about $50 retail... when buying the Skyrocket. Will I just be able to swap the SIMs and add the modem?
Any help will be much appreciated. I really want that note!
Bump... Really need this answered
When you get the note you will just have to put your sim in and add the apn. No plan change will be involved.

[Q]I need some advice from someone who knows Verizon well (related to upgrades)

Hello,
I hope this is in the right place, I've only made a few posts on here, but I read this site daily. Thanks to everyone who contributes!
I have a quick question I googled around about and couldn't really find an answer too.
I am currently using a T-mobile galaxy S 3 on ST w/ an att sim, but I also have a line on my parents plan w/ an old kin two m feature phone that will be due for an upgrade in the spring. My parents firmly believe that smartphones and data plans are the devil...So we have a talk and text family plan w/ 4 feature phones on it. I am curious if there is any way that when the upgrade is available, I could use it to buy a smartphone(capable of unlock/gsm capabilities), and then continue to use my kin two on the plan.
Does upgrading to a smartphone, from a feature phone, require adding a dataplan to purchase the phone? If so can I add the data plan to a single line for a month, then remove it and switch back to the feature phone?
Sorry if my post doesn't really make sense, any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for your time!

You would add data and could take the phone off back to Kin 2. The problem is you would need to get a phone from VZW that is gsm capable. Their global offerings are lacking and in most cases are locked from using USA gsm signals. Checking newer phones' radios first would be a must.

Thanks!
Hey, thanks for the input, it's appreciated.
Since I just got this S3 in early Oct I will probably hold onto the upgrade till next fall when hopefully a new note or something else cool is released, (saying that it could be unlocked for GSM). If i am lucky there will be more Verizon 4g LTE phones out that can be unlocked for GSM in a year from now. I never really expected that you would be able to unlock Verizon CDMA phones for GSM, but a guy in my CompTIA A+ cert. class said that his Verizon S3 could be unlocked for gsm and it got me thinking.
It's kinda a long story, but what got me asking about this I originally wanted a note/ note 2.
In September another forum member and I found two galaxy notes for $300 on CL, and the one I picked had motherboard problems of course(Avoid CL phones/tabs please!) I was luckily able to sell the phone for parts on ebay for $150 easily, but I still lost a little money on the unlock code, zagg, and a new S-pen. After that I really just needed a dependable phone fast, and couldn't really gamble on something used, or wait on the US Note 2 release, so I settled on the S3, so here next fall after i've had the phone for about a year hopefully i'll be able to upgrade to something new. I have grown to really like my S3 though.

[Q] Anyone work for T-Mobile or have in depth understanding of their policies?

I have what I think may be a complicated question which I can't seem to find the answer to regarding T-Mobile's promo with paying your previous carrier's Early Termination Fee. I'm thinking of switching from Verizon to T-Mobile and currently have a Galaxy S4. I understand in order to qualify for the promotional phone prices you need to trade-in your old device.
Here's the Question of the day...
Before switching over to T-Mobile, can I just swap/activate my (Verizon) Samsung Galaxy S4 with my old (Verizon) Samsung Stratosphere, so THAT'S the phone they take from me? Because I would love to keep my Galaxy S4 to sell or even for just play!
So, in other words...
Does the phone you trade in to T-Mobile NEED to be the exact same model that you had when starting/renewing your most recent 2 year contract with Verizon you think?

I recently made the switch from Verizon to T-Mobile (best decision I've made in my life). I didn't do the ETF promotion, since I made the switch the day after my contract was over and was bringing my own device. I don't remember exactly what was involved, but I remember that they needed access to my Verizon account info (not just my phone number). I remember having to go to VZW's website on my phone, looking for a previous bill that had my full account number on it, so they could put it in their computer and port everything over to their service.
Seeing as how the Stratosphere is 4 years old, and they'll have at least some access to your account information, I really doubt that they'll take your old phone instead of your S4. I can't say for certain, obviously, but I really, really doubt it. I would venture to guess that when you grant them at least some access to your account, they can also see what phone you're on contract with. While the way to "sway/activate" your device is simply swap which phone your SIM card is in, I think they'll still know that you're on contract for the S4, and not the 4 year old Stratosphere.
FWIW, paying the ETF fees for Verizon might be better than simply turning over your S4, but that depends on how much you have left on your contract. If it costs, say, $250 to break your contract, and your phone is in good condition, it might be prudent to pay the ETF and sell the phone after making the switch. But I don't think you'll be able to pull one over on T-Mobile and give them your dinosaur phone. Either you'll have to finish your contract or pay the ETF to keep your phone, or you'll have to turn in in to T-Mobile to have them pay the ETF.
I happily stuck it to "Big Red" when I switched. I needed a warranty replacement on my Droid Razr Maxx (the battery was about to explode). So I went to the store, but the entire country was out, so they had to send me a Razr Maxx HD instead. The day I received the replacement was the day my contract was up, so I switched to T-Mobile, sent back my Razr Maxx, and sold the Maxx HD on eBay for $275. Speeds and coverage in Tucson with T-Mo is better than Verizon, it's cheaper, and I have UNLIMITED EVERYTYING. Best decision of my life.

I own an spring Galaxy s5 and I want to upgrade to the s7 but...

I'm grandfathered into a sprint unlimited plan which is no credit check meaning no contract and I only pay $50 a month and the thing is I went to the store to see if I can upgrade but they said I can but I'd have to get a new account and pay wayy more since the promotion I have is no longer available, now my question is can I buy an s7 and unlock it and put my s5 sim card into this s7? Does it even work that way? Because I also was considering on buying flagship killer but idk how that works, like when the phone arrives do I just put my sprint sim into it? Thanks in advance!
