revert to stock without working usb - Samsung Galaxy S Blaze 4G

My USB port is kaput so I need to send my CWM+CM11 blaze for warranty repair. Can't flash via Odin and the only stock room zip I found on the forums is a dead link. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry dude... At this point, you've voided your warranty by changing the firmware, and the USB is the only I can think of to revert back to stock... You have to remove your custom recovery with an external device, and only can really be done so via USB... Unless you opened up your phone yourself and somehow tapped into a different way...
Are you charging you're battery externally? Have you tried a different version of Android? Believe it or not, I've lost USB functionality (software and hardware uses) because of a particular ROM not working well, or even a need for a simple reinstallation...
Unfortunately, rooting your phone comes with risks, and disclaimers are posted for every thread... Not trying to be a jerk... Just saying...

didn't I warn you about this...?

Actually, based on what I've read on these forums, as long as I can flash a stock zip via CWM, I should be OK. The man don't care if you install a recovery, they just don't want you to root or install another ROM. I did try other ROMs. In fact I'm now running the rooted stock ROM from one of the forum posts. If I can just get an un-rooted stock zip I'd be home free.
I'm charging externally, switching between the OEM battery and a spare I bought.
And yes I knew the risks, but I'm reasonably sure this is not caused by a ROM, more of a hardware failure.

[Q] Busted Phone Suggestions

So yesterday my phone fell from about OptiPlex height right onto the USB port with a cable plugged in. The plugged torqued a bit, and the result is that it won't connect to any computer, though it seems to charge fine.
I want to see if T-Mo will replace it, but I figure I should get Valhalla off it first. My questions are 2:
1) Is there a way to get it back to stock, including recovery, without USB?
2) Does T-Mo really check that I haven't rooted and ROM'ed the phone?
Does anybody have any experience like this to share?

Obtain a micro SD to SD converter
Place the micro SD into the converter, plug it into your computer
Open the SD and place the ROM zip onto the SD
Put the SD back into your phone
Boot to recovery, flash ROM from zip
Here is a stock zip i found for you: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1062847
Also I know this isn't going to help too much, but I once "bricked" an optimus (I now know it wasn't bricked, but I was dumb n00b and deleted the launcher XD) and returned it within the 14day window... they never even asked a question...

Thanks for the link, I'll definitely grab that ROM.
However, how can I Odin it without a working USB? I can deal with any CWM ROMs, but I'd be returning the device without stock recovery and rooted. I am probably being overly paranoid, but I could get by using the phone without USB, just flashing whatever GB or, dare I say, ICS ROMs that our benevolent devs make available.
See my dilemma?
Wait, so is the problem your USB cable or the actual USB plug on your phone?
If it's the former, you could get any Micro USB cable. I found that my SGS4G can charge with the BlackBerry cables.

No, it's the latter. Sorry, in trying to brief I wasn't clear.
Ordinarily to return a phone I assume I would need to track down a stock image, Odin it, and then SuperOneClick unroot, if necessary. I would imagine both of those steps would require a working data connection via USB. Mine only charges, it now doesn't connect on three computers that used to mount it with no problem.
I can pull the MicrosSD or transfer via WiFi and load anything through CWM (ICBINB, Valhalla, KI*, KJ*...) and have been. But if I want to turn it over to T-Mo for a replacement, I imagine it has to look like I haven't rooted and ROMed it with every GB release that has seen the light of day the past 2 months. Even if I CWM a stock KB5 or KD1, I'll still have a warranty-violating Recovery and it will be rooted.

OK, I'll hold off on that then.
For what it's worth, T-Mobile pointed out that I had "weird" software on my phone, and said they couldn't help. I tried to say yes, but if I revert to stock what could you do? They didn't go for it.

Damn, that really sucks. You really shouldn't admit to rooting and flashing custom ROMs, since that already voids your warranty. Reverting back to stock doesn't legally unvoid your warranty, I believe.
Sorry, but I think you just might be SoL in this case.
If you have insurance, a crazy idea could be to purposely hard brick your device and say that your phone completely screwed up after you dropped it. You should probably get more suggestions about this idea first though.
Another less crazy idea would be for you to open up your phone and see if you can set it back in place properly.

Technically I didn't admit anything. She said "let me take it in back and try it on our computer". 5 minutes later she was showing me the About phone screen and calling me out for it. I'll try a different T-Mo store, and hope she didn't note my account.
Then my troubles got worse, but now are better.
I ended up hosing the whole thing. I couldn't get back to recovery - only download. Then I tried Odin, while jiggling the USB, and was able to get it to connect and accept KD1, but it failed halfway through. I kept monkeying with the USB and saw a little flash and then it powered off completely. Battery pull got it back to the failed firmware - try Kies prompt, but Odin could see it. Pushed KD1 again while not even breathing on the phone and it finished.
I now have a phone that looks stock. It definitely has a bad USB. I know a shop that replaced my Blackberry Curve's USB for about $70. That will be my next step if T-Mo marked my account with a scarlet letter.
Let's see how long I can stand stock
PS at least my WiFi works better than GB
PPS A different store arranged for a replacement for a $20 processing fee. It arrives Thursday.

Galaxy s2 lte usb not connecting

I have tried on multiple computers and on each one, thr phone just charges when connected, i dont get a notification saying that usb is connected, nothing. I am not using the cable that came with my phone as i have lost it, but the cable im' using worked fine in the past (its a kindle usb btw). I am wondering if theres any way to fix this, or am I SOL?

Try to install the latest Samsung USB Drivers.
Also you can try plugging it to another computer/laptop, if it doesn't work either then there is a chance that the cord has gone bad. I know my computer doesn't recognize my phone when its on my USB extender but when I use the stock USB cord it detects it fine.

I had the exact same thing happen to me. Went to the AT&T repair facility and got it swapped out. You can find out where the closest one is from a retail store. Since Galaxy is so new, you probably shouldn't even need your receipt. If you are rooted, I hope you have a stock NANDROID backup of unrooted stock. I was afraid they would deny so I unrooted. Since I didn't have a NANDROID, and didn't want to flash ODIN and trip the counter, I ended up having to make a CWM flashable zip of stock, including stock recovery, using WIFI to transfer the file, and flash. I heard many tech don't care and will swap out for you either way. Hope you get it swapped w/o hassle!

Read my first post, my problem is that my phone wont connect to my computer through usb so i couldn't flash that tar even if i wanted to
I have the same problem and upon format in cwm it says dev/block unable to.format
There's a similar thread on this in the General section.

In short, IMO it's likely a cold solder issue. Have a long conversation with someone (45 min-hour) with the phone in your hand (so it heats up internally) then connect to a computer. If it comes up, you know it's a hardware issue. This was the case with mine.

[Q] Broken USB, need to uninstall CWM & unroot

Hey folks, I've been doing some reading on the topic this morning and found some good options but need a few more specifics and maybe some extra expert opinion. Something is awry with my USB port - It will charge but cannot get it to recognize the presence of the computer. It also goes through seasons where it rapidly toggles back and forth to/from dock mode.
Basic facts/stats:
SGS3 verizon, SCH-I535, running 4.0.4 I535VRLF2.
Rooted, Stock ROM, never unlocked bootloader.
Running CWM Recovery v5.5.0.4
I'm trying to restore to a point where I can do a warranty return for the hardware issue without being dinged for software mods.
So I think my options are these.. Feedback?
Mobile Odin... but don't want to unlock the bootloader, seems to be a step in the wrong direction.
ABD Wifi
Terminal emulator on the phone
Here's a thread that I found helpful...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=27206637&postcount=5
So, finally, my questions that I haven't been able to find an answer to...
Anyone know where can I find the stock recovery image? Not hard to find an image for the whole system, but why flash the whole kit'n'kabodle when you only need the one part?
If I was going to go the ABD/terminal route, is this the correct command? dd if=location of image of=/dev/block/mmblk0p22. This is the location for the Galaxy S2, but not sure if it is correct for S3.
Thanks guys, definitely don't want to make a mistake here in this crippled situation.

Your on ICS. I would just use EZ-unlock 1.2 and unlock. Takes about about 30 seconds. If flash counter is tripped use free Triangle Away here on XDA to reset it. Another minute. Then use Mobile Odin to flash back full stock image. About 10 minutes. Done.

Several, and the cables work with my old phone w/ no problems. Reinstalled the samsung drivers. I'm pretty sure that it's the USB due to the issue with rapid toggling in/out of dock mode. A quick squirt of compressed air fixes the dock mode issue but there are still periodic re-occurrences.
Downloading the stock firmware now. I'll keep you all posted. Thanks a ton for the advice.
Try the xperia x8 drivers. I can't get the Samsung ones to connect for anything. I haven't had an issue since ditching the Samsung ones.
I had the same problems, constant toggling. Just my opinion, it's a driver issue.

[Q] Factory reset SGT2 3113 - with no USB access?

being the clumsy oaf I am, I trashed my 3113 (galaxy tab 2 7") usb cable, I sat on it while it was charging, and (the 30 pin connector end) literally broke in 1/2, severing the pins. I took a look at the connector in the tablet, and it looks unharmed using a magniyfing glass and a spy light.
I have no idea if the tablet's connector is buggered or not until I receive the new cable and try. Unfortunately I don't know anyone else that has this tab to borrow one. I've left it powered off at 95% remaining battery since last night, and don't plan to turn it on until i figure this out.
Here's my problem
If the new cable doesnt work either, it's safe to assume I buggered the tab as well. Thankfully it's still under warranty. BUT, its been rooted, has CWM on it, and has AOKP ROM, a variety has been loaded as well so the counter needs to be reset. I'm 99.99% sure I have the correct factory rom for it.
If the connector is buggered, and I have no USB access how can I reset this tab back to factory, and reset the counter without having a working USB connection?
Can I reset the counter as it is now using Triangle? Then flash the factory rom using CWM in recovery mode?
How can I tell if my rom can be used with CWM to flash, or if it specifically requires Odin to flash?
My cable should be here in about 1 week, is it possible even though powered off at 95% for one week, the battery could deplete?
I have no idea why they use silly cables like this, micro usb would have been fine, i have a drawer full of them. Hopefully this can be fixed up and someone can point me in the right direction. thank you
. I almost guarantee u that the battery life will not deplete all the way. So at least you don't have to worry about that. Also you should be able to flash the stock rom back onto your tablet without a pc or computer. Then from there use triangle away to delete the flash counter. Hope the new cable works!

Thanks for the info about the battery, that will my ease my mood while I wait for the cable however I'm not understanding your answer to my questions;
"Also you should be able to flash the stock rom back onto your tablet without a pc or computer. Then from there use triangle away to delete the flash counter"
Can I flash the factory ROM with CWM as I did with AOKOP? What program if not CWM do I flash it with (using the tablet)?
It is my understanding triangle can only be run as root, it is also my understanding that when a factory rom is flashed back, the device becomes unrooted? Please correct me if my understanding of this is wrong!
so if I follow your instruction, somehow I flash the stock rom back using the tablet only, I assume a reboot will be needed to run triangle, but if the device is now unrooted after factory flash, how will triangle run??
Maybe I'm not understanding correctly? Again any help is much appreciated, thanks for your answers
*UPDTE* the mailman showed up as i was writing this! today by surprise I received a totally different adapter cable (ordered this a month ago totally unrelated), this one allows me to use a normal usb memory stick and memory card on my 3113. It worked with all cards i tried, but now I am 92 % battery., This tells me the connector on the tablet has at least some working pins!!! and is not totally damaged, so I have more hope now. But I still would like to know how to do this without a working usb connection

First off i dont know why i hate this so much but, dont say thanks click the button. Lol
Anyways if you do flash a stock rom you will loose root access, but rooting from a stock rom is a breeze. Any chance u have a custom recovery already installed? If you do download the stock rom from the internet.
Stock rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2162736
Then flash it to your tablet. If you do not have a custom recovery, then u might be able to use mobile odin. Its an app on the play store. Im not very familiar with that app. One other thing i might think would work is to download an app from the play store called rom manager. Its free. From rom manager i believe u can install clockwork mod recovery. And from clockwork mod recovery then flash a stock rom. (I would recommend this method but if your familiar with mobile odin then use whatever your more comfortable with.
Hope i could help.

Skyrocket will NOT connect to PC, have tried everything

I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 Skyrocket (SGH-I727 / AT&T) that I cannot get to connect to a PC after weeks of trying. I have tried to read through hundreds of threads regarding this issue and it seems others have had similar issues but nothing quite like this.
When I connect my phone to a PC, it does charge but Windows XP or Windows 7 will not recognize the phone. Anytime it is connected an error pops up stating "USB Device Not Recognized. One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned and Windows does not recognize it."
So to clarify, I have tried the following suggestions from others to troubleshoot and try to narrow down the issue:
1.) I have tried 4 separate USB cables, including the original OEM Samsung brand data cable that came with the phone.
2.) I have tried 3 separate PC's (2 with Windows 7, 1 with Windows XP).
3.) I have installed Samsung Kies on all 3 PCs, uninstalled and reinstalled the program as well as the Samsung Drivers on multiple occasions.
4.) I have done a factory/data reset on the phone twice to see if this was an issue caused by other apps I've downloaded in the past.
5.) I have tried to use USB Debugging/Developer option and then connect the phone to no avail.
6.) I have tried USB Mass Storage option before connecting the phone.
7.) I have tried to connect the phone to a PC in Samsung's default recovery mode and still showed it was not a recognizable device.
8.) I have tried a friend's galaxy S3 on all cables and PC's mentioned above and Kies immediately recognizes her phone.
9.) I have attempted to clean the physical microusb port with a small brush to make sure the contacts were clean and not being blocked by something.
10.)I have done a battery pull and about 20+ phone resets for all above mentioned attempts.
Based on all of these attempts without any success, it seems to me that this being a PHONE hardware issue is highly probable. I've ruled out just about every other scenario and I'm wondering at this point if my phone's Micro USB port is fried somehow.
Has anyone heard of this or is this a reasonable possibility?
I have tried just about everything I can so far, if anyone has any other suggestions or has any information that may confirm my suspicion, please let me know.
This all came about in the past week due to Jelly Bean being finally released by AT&T / Samsung for the Skyrocket and unfortunately, this update only seems to be available via Kies and a direct data cable to a PC. I have tried to go to Settings > About Phone > Software Update > Check for Updates (while connected to Wifi with a full battery) and the phone has told me 3 times over the past 3 days that my current Ice Cream Sandwich v4.0.4 Android is the most current software up to date. I'm guessing they're not planning on releasing Jelly Bean to the Skyrocket via OTA air updates....so now I'm stuck.

Wow, thank you so much. This is the first thing I've seen from anyone regarding a possible fix outside of direct USB connection. I sincerely appreciate it!

You should also try a different computer if you can. It works on my laptop but not my pc. I have no idea why and have tried everything I can think of. Also, use the usb ports on the back of the computer, not the front
Edit: sorry I didn't read your whole post.

Well after getting into the details on the post, it looks like this is created for a phone that already has a custom recovery such as CWM or TWRP installed. Since I do not have a USB port to use on this phone as of right now, is there any way to install a custom recovery on my phone without using USB?
I did download the stock 4.1.2 Jelly Bean firmware directly on the phone's default directory already and it's sitting there in a zip format. If I'm not able to root and/or install a custom recovery without using a USB cable, would it be possible to install the stock firmware using the default samsung recovery mode?

if there is ive never seen it, let us know how, that is how to install a rom/firmware w/out custom recovery and w/a dead usb port
Crap if he's bone stock then no if it were stock rooted he could use dd commands with terminal emulator.
Also nowhere in his description did he ever say he deleted the old drivers from device manager.
Also I'm wondering how you are installing these drivers.

Well I did find this older thread that will supposedly allow me to install CWM and root without using a USB cable or PC. I'm going to try this since you all have confirmed that I'm not able to install a stock firmware/rom using stock recovery.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1501719
Edit - Didn't work, apparently this was for 4.0.3, not 4.0.4.
I'm going to need to figure out how to root and get CWM on my phone just to install Stock Jelly Bean all without using a USB cable. Still no luck so far.

It wouldn't work. Nothing will install in Android System Recovery <3e>. Everything I tried still came back with Signature Verification Failed.
I also tried lifting the "tongue" inside the usb port on the phone several times previously and that didn't work either. I must assume at this point the usb daughterboard or something inside is messed up.
Since stock recovery can't install any type of files and I can't connect the phone to a PC in any way and my phone is 100% stock without root or any custom recovery, I can only imagine I'm stuck in this situation. I have yet to see any solutions for getting root or installing CWM without having a USB connection that works. Unless I can do either of those things, it looks like I'm SOL for updating from ICS to JB.
If they had only made Jelly Bean an Over the Air update, none of this would be a problem really.

Too dangerous the ota bricks tons of people when they do it I can only assume at&t is tired of it and opts for kies only. Also you could buy a daughter board and replace it. It's a relatively easy fix.

So .... lesson learned here is that you CANNOT root a phone or install any custom recoveries such as CWM or TWRP without having a working USB connection. As a result, you CANNOT install any updates, stock firmwares and especially custom roms without the above.
Only option at this point is to order the replacement part for the USB port on the phone or to purchase a new phone (if it's outside of the warranty period).

No you need USB to root that's it technically. If you have root you can install a recovery IMG without a computer using a terminal emulator and dd commands.

yes and no, its the chicken and the egg kind of question, for the sr to get root u need to flash the su files, but u need to have a custom recovery to flash the su files. is there a way to get the su files onto the sr w/out a custom recovery? I haven't seen one yet unless there was a oneclick method which I never used

There is no one click available for 4.x forward.
I am wondering, however, if something like this would work:
