Try to format it through you phone or through a PC.
You must know that you'll loose everything on the extsdcard when you format it!!!

Maybe our phone's support is only to 32GB
Our phone supports 64gb. I've got an i9105p and a 64gb scandisk microsd class "u1" and it works pretty well on cm 11 build #7. On build #8 my phone doesn't recognize the sdcard, either.

Put your card in a card reader and test it with H2testw http://www.heise.de/download/h2testw.html. You might have a defective or fake card. There's also the possibility that it doesn't follow the SD card specs 100%, and may be incompatible with your phone.

Just a heads up, might help a few people. My phones batt drained completely and whenever i charged it and turned it on it always said that my SD card was damaged and needed reformatting. At first i kept on reformatting it and thought i might have bought a faulty SD card.
Then i thought id experiment when it happened again, after plugging it in, i let it charge from 1% to 10% and reset the phone. Suddenly my SD card works again and was no longer considered "damaged"
Just randomly guessing that maybe my phone didnt have enough juice to run the SD card when it was drained to 0.
Have only gotten to test it once. Ill try again tom since on a daily basis i drain the batt to 0 by 6pm. Ill post again if it works again.

sandisk 64gb?
http://www.phonearena.com/news/SanDisk-says-it-produced-some-bad-32GB-and-64GB-microSD-cards_id40986
I have just purchased the 64gb ultra SanDisk as well.
Put it in once i had formatted it for exFAT and all was well until a few hours into my phone usage it said i need to format my card, as it may be corrupt/damaged. I took no notice and went into storage and mounted it, and it worked again. It does this all the bloody time.
So i tried to change ROM's as i thought hey.. who knows. But behold that when i select a ROM from the SD card it stops working half way through my flash. Lucky I have a backup on my internal SD card or i'd be fu**ed...
Formatting for FAT32 does the same thing. I've emailed sandisk as I must have one of their defective cards.

There seems to be a fix from Phil (Creator of Philz CWM)
In an ADB shell you can type this code to attempt to mount the 64Gb card.
Use a tool like this if you are unfamiliar with ADB interfaces.
LINK:
and then check this out if you are also unfamiliar on how to use ADB...
LINK:
Code:
mount -t exfat /external_sd
I have not tried it yet as I am awaiting my new sanDisk ultra card...

hmm how is that a fix? it's just mounting the card.
can you link to where phil suggests this? Thanks.
i'm also having issues where my card will just randomly unmount then remount, and the media scanner process then scans the entire card and chews through my battery. i have a 64gB sandisk

Phil said that it may be a problem with CWM mounting the card. Like I said I can't try it so can't confirm if it works. No one as yet has reported it working or not yet..
Forum link:
oh CWM, i don't have any problems there, just when i'm actually booted into android proper.

I have SanDisk 64GB and it have been working fine in my S4 since 10 of May :fingers-crossed:
Hey guys, I have a Galaxy Note 10.1 and I just got a SanDisk 64Gb class 10 micro sd card for it. I have the same cars for my S4 and it works fine. However when I insert the new card into my note it says "checking sd card" and then will immediately say "safe to remove sd card". I can write and format the card in my computer and when I format it to NTSF (which I know android won't read) I get it to tell me that I need to format the sd card which I do and it works fine. Then once format is compete it does the same problem.
I put the new card into my S4 and it mounted fine. Now before you tell me it's a problem with my Note 10.1 read this:
I have a 8Gb SanDisk microSD that works just fine. Also when I put the 64Gb card in and boot to TWRP recovery I can mount and write to the card just fine.
I am running Hyper Drive rtl3 and I had the problem. So I wiped and updated to hyper drive rtl4 and the problem still exists.
I'm really baffled by this problem. Any ideas guys?
Also after I post this I plan to take the 64gb card that is in my S4 and trying it in my note. I'll post back what happens.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Alright so the Sd card from my phone which works in my phone did the same thing in my note. Could it be the ROM I am using. Is this a problem that's known in Hyperdrive? Again running the most current 4.0.0.0 version.

FAT32 or EXFAT?
Read post 209 and 210 from the link.

The attached file can format your Sandisk 64gb chip to fat32 if you need to. I used it to format my Sandisk 64GB 2 days ago.
If you need more help let us know.
.
Your ROM won't recognize a 64gb card. I went back to stock so that I could use mine. Lots of info on here about this.

Sadly, formatting my Samsung 64GB UHC to FAT 32 from eFAT didn't help. As before, when I slip the card into the slot for a microsecond the "Mount SD Card" appears then greys out and in the tastbar appears "Preparing SD card checking for errors" and this message stays there for eternity or until I either take the card out or reboot.
Cmcole101 mine dose the same thing did you ever end up fixing it?
I just bought a Samsung GB sdcard, and I've reformatted it into FAT32. My butterfly can read it with no problem. I have problem after I copied my old files into this new card and put it into my X920d. On my computer, everything has been copied and the total usage is just the same. But when I put it into my phone, some files just missing, and you can see the space(usage) getting less, files lost. Any comment??

I'm running under 4.2.2 now and it's a BoA 5.2 custom rom. But I've tried it on my old galaxy s (CRom 7.0 ) it is OK, nothing lost....is it possible because of the hardware or rom? But the feedback from other BoA rom user, seems 64gb is ok for them.

I'm using Sandisk Ultra 64GB Class 10/UHS, and it works flawlessly
I have a issue with microSD card with the stock rom (jb4.1.2, sprint).
When I insert my 32gb samsung class 10, the phones tell me that is corrupted.
I have formatted with PC (windows 8.1), with the phone (in android, not in recovery) but same issue.
I also run chkdsk from windows to fix the problem, but nothing..
The only way to get my SD working is mount and remount from android settings until it makes a strange "mount loop" and to the end phone accept the card.
Every reboot or every time I get out the card I have the same issue.
I also have issue with spotify: aftero 400 / 500 MB of downloaded cache it tell me the memory is finished.. but I got 10gb left in sd and 2 in internal.. I think issues are connected.
Have you tried a different SD card? Perhaps that card is in fact corrupt.

With CyanogenMod (10.2 and 11) works perfectly on my phone, with my old desire Z works.. The problem is only with original sprint rom..
Test: 64mb microSD works ok.. (don't ask me why I have 64mb microSD )
New test: my brother's 64gb kingstone class 10 works perfectly, my samsung 32gb class 10 on my brother's huawei p1 with CM10 works perfectly..
