Use with Verizon - HTC One SV

I'm debating on getting a One SV, I am just curious if after I unlock the bootloader and S-OFF, can I use this with verizon?

Verizon doesn't support unlocked bootloaders. They have a vendetta against it lol. So I would simply say, good luck.

Rogers One X - S-OFF?

I hear that the rogers version of the htc one x is able to have its bootloader unlocked using htcs unlock tool.
Is this true?
Want to make sure before I go grab this beautiful phone.
Sure but unlock the boot loader, and root what then?
Run Titanium Backup? big deal.
Until the AT&T ONE X can have it's boot loader unlocked, CWM boot loader there will be no cool ROMs.

Care to back that up with a picture? HTCdev does NOT do S-OFF.
EDIT: Added a picture of my bootloader. You can clearly see at the top that although my bootloader's unlocked, I still have S-ON.
ANOTHER EDIT: I just noticed my bootloader reports the date as being April 2nd. Anyone else have the wrong date in their HBOOT? Or maybe that's not the current date, but the date which the HBOOT was built or flashed.
Its the date of the hboot creation

Is root required to unlock bootloader

I follow all root how to but fail due to permission denied error.
People say you can unlock bootloader without being rooted.
But all unlocking how to, state that phone must be rooted.
I have XL, 1.88.
Can anyone confirm that I can unlock bootloader without being root initially?
You have to be rooted. Sorry.

Not entirely true. You need to be rooted on AT&T, since BL unlock is not officially offered for us and we need to change the SuperCID.
Not sure if this is the case with SingTel. Most carriers are allowed to unlock their BL officially. If HTC offers the bootloader unlock for that carrier CID, you do not need root. And root is easily achieved after BL unlock (just install a custom recovery and flash SU).

Sorry. Unfamiliar with other carriers. Plus, I never saw the One X in the list on the dev site at all. Has it changed? Or, are you saying that some carriers don't lock the bootloader at all? I wonder why AT&T even cares about locking it down.
If your phone is NOT on AT&T, you can unlock the bootloader with HTCDev.com
That means you do NOT i repeat NOT need root.
Just choose "All other supported phones" in the list of phones.

I lol'd at this. No offense taken. Actually, you are quite correct. I've been unhappy in general with AT&T, but not much of a choice is available. Glad we had that break-up of Ma Bell so long ago because of deregulation. Sounds like we need that again.

Are you sure? It is listed as a HTC One XL with LTE coverage and their firmware works on everyones S4 phones.
Where is your info coming from that the phone isnt a S4??
To add facts:
Singtel previously offers both: HTC one X and HTC one XL (LTE).
Now, I think Singtel only offers One XL.
Singtel 4G Network Just about 3 months old.
BTW, I successfully Unlock Bootloader and gain root upon Rom Flashed.
I encountered no trouble at all. And did the following:
. follow HTCdev literally
. flash TWRP recovery image using fast boot flash command
. flash custom rom zip file thru TWRP
=) +1 rooted HOXL

I don't work for HTC so I can't tell you. Are you paying for service? Or using your warranty? If you're trying to use warranty, it was voided the second the BL was unlocked. You may luck out and they might not check or see it. What's the worst that could happen? They send it back and say they can't service it?
If you bought it from AT&T, return it to AT&T. There have been a bunch of reports by folks on here that have had warranty honored by AT&T even though the bootloader is RELOCKED. And haven't seen any reports of AT&T doing otherwise.

It will always only say RELOCKED. Only way for it to say LOCKED is if the bootloader was never unlocked. Some think the flag can be changed to LOCKED if we get S-Off. RUU will only remove the TAMPERED tag. It will not make it back to LOCKED.

[Q] help rooting 3.20.502.52 build 2.3.5

I plan on rooting a friends Inspire 4g and I was wondering which method should I use to root the phone? I understand there are 2 different ways. It's an HTC Inspire 4g 2.3.5 with the build number 3.20.502.52 cl380259. I can't seem to find any recent ways to find out how to do this except this on here:
http://tau.shadowchild.nl/attn1/?p=88
Is that the only way to do it now? I have experience with rooting. I've rooted 2 HTC arias in the past along with a moto back flip and atrix 2, so I do have rooting and flashing experience. Im just trying to get some more info before doing this. Thanks for any and all help.
Yes, you would need to do it that way for S-Off. You could also unlock the boot loader with HTCDEV only, but you will be S-On and get fewer options that way.

Well I plan to only flash one rom on this device and never mess with it again. Preferably CM9/10. I don't plan on messing with different roms after that. So if I root using HTCDEV, will I be able to flash one of those ROMS?
Yes. You will need to fastboot flash boot.img separately after the ROM.

Then you don't have an unlocked bootloader. You are S-OFF, which means that the nand partition security is off now. That allows you to flash anything you want...much better than an unlock bootloader only.

So if I just root and have S-OFF without having an unlocked bootloader, I can flash any ROM of my choosing? That seems like it's the best way to go or the easiest at least. Could you give me or mind PM'ing me the AAHK that you used Jrhodes?

Yes. If http://tau.shadowchild.nl/attn1/?p=88 applies read it. If not just use AAHK from the same site. I don't know anything about how the GS3 is unlocked. The link in my signature (to the thread in the DHD forums, which is the international variant of the same phone) will help.

HTCDev Bootloader Unlock

I decided to take a leap of faith and tried to unlock my bootloader using the HTCDev site and it worked. Would this make Firewater pointless?

Not sure what proof you want. I can give you a screenshot of the email I got from HTC with my unlock key in it.
Is there really any reason to use HTCDev since firewater can do it?
It just seems like it would make sense to unlock it using official means if it is an option. Not saying that Firewater will cause issues but workarounds can pose risks that could be avoided by using tools provided by HTC itself.
There is no reason to use the official HTC tool at all. I'm surprised it even works. Early tests by other users (incl myself) showed our devices being blocked on the site. Are you sure you have a Verizon HTC M8 as opposed to one for another carrier?
Anyway, with firewater, you shouldn't use it at all.
First, it voids your warranty. But most importantly of all, it does not give you S-off. Only bootloader unlock.
Firewater gives you both S-off and unlocked bootloader as well. There also have been no reports of any issues due to firewater. All it does is give you S-off. There are some legit dev phones out there that also have S-off; firewater just makes your phone equal to those dev ones.

I see no advantage to using the htcdev method, assuming that it really works (and it didn't work at least through when Firewater came out). That method wipes the phone AND the internal SD card. Firewater doesn't.

This, the OP's signature says he is S-Off. OP, Post your CID and MID. If you are indeed already S-Off via firewater, as I suspect you are since that is the only way to gain S-Off, your bootloader was also already unlocked.
