Rogers One X - S-OFF? - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

I hear that the rogers version of the htc one x is able to have its bootloader unlocked using htcs unlock tool.
Is this true?
Want to make sure before I go grab this beautiful phone.

Sure but unlock the boot loader, and root what then?
Run Titanium Backup? big deal.
Until the AT&T ONE X can have it's boot loader unlocked, CWM boot loader there will be no cool ROMs.

Care to back that up with a picture? HTCdev does NOT do S-OFF.
EDIT: Added a picture of my bootloader. You can clearly see at the top that although my bootloader's unlocked, I still have S-ON.
ANOTHER EDIT: I just noticed my bootloader reports the date as being April 2nd. Anyone else have the wrong date in their HBOOT? Or maybe that's not the current date, but the date which the HBOOT was built or flashed.

Its the date of the hboot creation

The bootloader is unlocked, S-Off refers to HTC phones. The fact that you can do a permanent root and install clockworkmod means that S-Off is irrelevant to this device.

On a particular generation of HTC phones (Desire HD/Inspire, Mytouch 4G, G2/Desire Z), when you get RADIO S-OFF you can soft-SIM-unlock the phone. This is not a general rule with HTC phones or any other brand for that matter.
Also on many of the Samsung Galaxy S phones (and Tab) you can use a different method to soft-SIM-unlock.
To my knowledge this is not usually possible on LG Androids. You would need to get an unlock code.

[INFO]S-Off is closer then we think!

Here is the deal.
HTCdev is our ticket in (areyou sure?) YES
but downgrade is needed!
i have the latest htc chacha rom installed an tried this code
''fastboot oem get_identifier_token''
But it seems to be removed from the latest rom
So first thing we need to downgrade the device so then we can unlock the bootloader
To bad i failed to downgrade if some one got te CHACHA with the first rom ever
So check ur rom or tell me how to downgrade the propper way to force the S-on off it!
what do u mean by downgrade? if you are looking to downgrade try this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1320392
I tried that and dont work or i make a mistake or sdcard is ****ed ill check when im home

I sure hope the indeed is our way in, because my wife's ChaCha is in dire need of modifying .

Most of the time sdcard is the culprit
@ajeevlal
You have downgraded the hboot right? Why don't you check the fastboot cmd on your chacha?
@RDilus
Which hboot version do you think is needed?
Are you positive about this?
I'm asking because I've just re-checked the htcdev site and ChaCha is not on the supported devices list. Still!

well it is htcdev just dont wanna tell us because they locked the fastboot code on the chacha on the newest rom
the only HBOOT that can do everything is 0.74.0000 on the rom 1.13.401.1 and i can't downgrade to that version so htc is hiding something im now on 1.18.401.1 HBOOT 1.04.0000 i need to push it to a lower version a pre version before i go on
HTC love to fool us but it aint gonna work there is a reason HTC ChaCha is not listed on the site because no one ever came past fastboot oem get_identifier_token
I've not upgraded my Chacha hboot, afaik lol. Though I don't know which version it is.
It came already s-off, I'm lucky. When I can I'll try that command and see if it works.
Thanks
HTCdev just added the HTC Salsa and a bunch of new devices to HTCdev BL unlock tool. Maybe the Chacha could come next.

I hope so - once they unlock it (IF they unlock it), the activity here will shoot way up, we'll get custom kernels (would love one of these), and we may even get put back in the main forum
and maybe get official recognition in CM!
That would be a dream come true... my Chacha runs so smoothly and lag-free with SuperOSR (which I see is partly based on CM7?) and xd.bx's last build of CM7.2... official support would make this phone complete
UNLOCKABLE AS OF NOW!!!

[Q] returning phone to HTC with relocked bootloader

the reason i want to return the phone is the proximity and light sensors stopped working after i received the OTA ICS update. i unlocked the phone and tried a few custom roms but none of them fixed the problem. so i relocked the bootloader and flashed my stock RUU so now its completely back to stock except in the bootloader screen it says "relocked" now instead of "locked". when i send it in will HTC make a big deal out of that? the phone is still s-on and everything.

There maybe a way to show your Hboot as locked, but how can you tell for sure that HTC doesn't keep a track of the phones that have been unlocked using HTC Dev. You are literally telling them "Hey! I'm about to unlock my bootloader which is going to void my warranty!" I do suppose they keep a track of such things.
Try unlocking again and flash diffent firm and relock it on gb idk nice to see there stalking our phones
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using xda premium
Don't know if this works for the Sensation, but if someone is trying to go back to locked hboot, give it a try.
Go back to totally stock. Flash a RUU, preferably GB so that you have an earlier hboot that can be easily S-OFFed again.
fastboot oem write secureflag 3
Reboot and you should be S-ON again. AGAIN, MAKE SURE YOU ARE TOTALLY STOCK WITH A SHIP HBOOT OR YOU WILL BRICK.
Use revolutionary to S-OFF again. Hopefully, you will be locked at this point.
If not, repeat, but use JuopunutBear to S-OFF.
If you're still unlocked, this method doesn't work on the Sensation.

In your case, try using JuopunutBear to S-OFF and see if it restores your bootloader to "locked"
Does it only say that for people who used HTC tool?
revolutionary does not unlock bootloader.
Why not just flash pg58 with stock hboot in it? Or better yet, I believe stock tmous ruu has leaked (you are on tmous, right?)

[Q] help rooting 3.20.502.52 build 2.3.5

I plan on rooting a friends Inspire 4g and I was wondering which method should I use to root the phone? I understand there are 2 different ways. It's an HTC Inspire 4g 2.3.5 with the build number 3.20.502.52 cl380259. I can't seem to find any recent ways to find out how to do this except this on here:
http://tau.shadowchild.nl/attn1/?p=88
Is that the only way to do it now? I have experience with rooting. I've rooted 2 HTC arias in the past along with a moto back flip and atrix 2, so I do have rooting and flashing experience. Im just trying to get some more info before doing this. Thanks for any and all help.
Yes, you would need to do it that way for S-Off. You could also unlock the boot loader with HTCDEV only, but you will be S-On and get fewer options that way.

Well I plan to only flash one rom on this device and never mess with it again. Preferably CM9/10. I don't plan on messing with different roms after that. So if I root using HTCDEV, will I be able to flash one of those ROMS?
Yes. You will need to fastboot flash boot.img separately after the ROM.

Then you don't have an unlocked bootloader. You are S-OFF, which means that the nand partition security is off now. That allows you to flash anything you want...much better than an unlock bootloader only.

So if I just root and have S-OFF without having an unlocked bootloader, I can flash any ROM of my choosing? That seems like it's the best way to go or the easiest at least. Could you give me or mind PM'ing me the AAHK that you used Jrhodes?

Yes. If http://tau.shadowchild.nl/attn1/?p=88 applies read it. If not just use AAHK from the same site. I don't know anything about how the GS3 is unlocked. The link in my signature (to the thread in the DHD forums, which is the international variant of the same phone) will help.

thanks it is a great guide
but i dont have mmcblk0p4 and Latest 2.20 firmware ruu
You only need your old mmcblk0p4, if you want to change back to the AT&T CID.
If you just want to unroot, just relock the bootloader, and run the 2.20 RUU (assuming you rooted on 2.20 or earlier firmware).
Don't run the 3.18 RUU, as doing so with S-on and SuperCID will brick the phone. Also, if your bro ever tries to install the Jellybean OTA or RUU, it will brick the phone (with S-On and SuperCID). The way to prevent this from happening, would be to manually change the CID back (you can look in Development for how to do it).

I believe if you have SuperCID or S-off, it will. Otherwise, no.
Also, if the hboot version of the RUU is lower than what is on the phone, it will fail to install.
And to reiterate, if you are SuperCID, and S-on, running some RUUs may brick you. So be careful.
Is there an RUU available for your version? If so, the easiest thing to do is just relock the bootloader and run the right RUU. Since you do not have the AT&T version, its probably not SuperCID. Although I would still verify, to be safe.

Need CID or carrier version. The radio is the only thing useful there, and that particular radio was used on several firmware versions/RUUs.
Might be RUU for Telus Australia 3.17.841.2, but its not certain:
