7" Removable Android 4.0 Tablet Car Stereo - Android General

I've never seen this before, found it by accident on eBay.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=321184153604
It has a removable tablet that sits in a docking station on the head unit. Pretty interesting, I was wondering if anybody here has ever seen or used it before. The tablet removes to reveal a standard double din stereo faceplate underneath. It's sold by a company called xtrons.com They have a pretty professional looking website for a company out of China. They even have support forums. Opinions?
Thanks

Car Upgrade Kit CU S420

Am i right in thinking that the CU S420 doesn offer any kinds of handsfree? Its basically just a charger and holder?
If not, is there anything available which is similar, but offers handsfree/speaker as well?
Thanks.
You're right, even though it is possible to use the phone speaker and mic from the car, much as you could anywhere else (except the phone goes on speaker by itsself when its in the dock).
As carkits go, the sound is awful. A more powerful speaker system would make listening to it in a (relatively noisy) car a lot more pleasant. A decent directional microphone would pick up on a lot less noise than the builtin mic does.
You might want to look into a separate bluetooth carkit with a separate microphone. This kit does offer a solid and stable holder for the phone as well as a charge cable.
thanks.. ordered one, will couple it with a parrot ck3100 now, thanks.
got one of these now.. very well made, but the lining up of the power plug into the phone is a nightmare. They should have left the top open and just let people slide the phone in.
Can anyone recommend a carkit better than this then? I've heard that the car panel doesn't load if you've got 2.2 either?
I'm try to find my dad a good in-car dock and I want to be able to couple it with a form of car dock panel?
Not much information is written regarding this particular car holder. I have decided to buy it, after spending money for a cheaper one from PhoneM8, which is ok but not great... I am VERY happy I bought the CU S420.
If anyone is interested, I have written an extensive review of the CU S420 on amazon:

Read that on Amazon. Just to make shure: This dock automatically triggers Car Home on the Desire?!
I've been looking for that feature a long time and avoided buying this cradle because of its price until now. Did you ever try to launch successfully any other car dock app with this cradle (Custom Car Home, MyCarDock e.g.)?

Yes it does. It turns car mode on and launches any installed software for car mode. I have tried google car home (imho the best) and navipanel.
Feel free to ask any other questions... Best regards.
Thanks a lot. Further questions will be answered by the dock itsself.
I already ordered one this afternoon.
Sorry for re-opening this old thread.
Could anyone owning the CU S420 let me know whether or not they believe a HTC Desire fitted with a protective case (Otterbox in my case) would still fit into this car holder?
Thanks
No, it won't. It's a very tight fit.

[Q] Connecting GTab to TV

Is there a way to connect a GTab up to a TV? Usually a standard Laptop can be hooked up to a TV via "S Video" cable and the 3 and a half Jack. Just wondering because I'd like to stream movies on my GTab and watch them on my TV (a much larger screen).

Not yet. VS should be releasing the HDMI cable/dock that connects to the bottom of the G Tablet some time soon. I dont know if I have the desire to have one, but it would be kinda interesting.
Scott
someone on the forums did find a dock that he got that was made in china for the zpad i believe it was made for but he used it with his g tablet and it works great. look around the forums i believe its in the accessories section under "g tablet dock" or something like that.
IIRC it's the ZPad dock... check in the accessories forum or the general market forum as there are two threads going...
One guy is doing group buys of cases & docks, while a second guy just bought a lot of 20 docks and is selling them at cost... c. $70 incl. shipping IIRC. (dunno what the first guy's prices are though...)

Any experience with FM Transmitters with built-in chargers for the car (example link)

Hi guys,
I've been trying to find a decent solution to stream music to my non bluetooth enabled car stereo while at the same time charging and providing a holder for my phone.
So far, I've found this which looks exactly like what I'm looking for:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/FM-Transmit...-Samsung-Galaxy-Note-2-II-N7100-/170935978676
However, I don't trust ebay that much.
Does anybody have any experience with this product or something similar?
Any recommendations out there?
Thanks in advace
While I would not recommend any fm devices, I suppose http://www.newpotatotech.com/TUNELINK_ANDROID/tunelink_android.html Is probably the best one out there.
Are you aware that Sony, Pioneer, and JVC make a variety of head units that support aux input, bluetooth, and even usb inputs for under a hundred bucks?

Thanks for the recommendation.
My car's radio slot is not standard sized though, so that severely limits my ability to simple switch my radio to a more feature rich one. Unless I misunderstood what you meant by the head units. I'm driving a Skoda, I've also found some Chinese no-brand stock-sized replacement radios, but they're almost $400 and look shady enough.
The new potato link you posted is definitely interesting, but above my budget for this, I was looking at spending a total of $60 tops, including the mount.
Will definitely keep it in mind. Maybe a cheap mount plus the new potato suggestion would be ideal.
Any other recommendations out there?
Thanks
Go on newegg and get the power gogroove flexsmart x2. Only $45 and a lot of reviews. On amazon it's $48 with 2500 reviews at 4.5 stars. Someone else on here has it and posted pics.

Building a car head unit

So I've been looking at the various android car stereos and realising all of them have serious problems (Shame the manufacturer won't just open source the bloody things).
But I recently read about AMD's new systems on a socket and wondered if it would be possible to build a dual booting android and windows head unit. You can pick up a Sempron 3850 and micro ATX motherboard for under £70 (which covers CPU and GPU). I must admit I'm interested in a 1080p lilliput touch screen, then need to add the usuals such as a wifi + 3G/4G dongle, TV/DAB Radio tuner and a GPS unit. The only real joy that I can figure is how to mount the thing. The number of double din units is severely limited. I found this one:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Bybyte-Double-Mini-ITX-Carputer-Enclosure/dp/B0076PF92Q
But it doesn't look like you can stick a dvd drive in. Ideally I'd like one that I can slide the screen out the way and stick a DVD in but the number of double din car stereo cases is pretty limited.
So has anyone done anything like this? Am I mad or does this seem like a good idea? It would be great to be able to dual boot android and windows 7/8 on such a beast

Recommend Clock/Radio/Stereo Dock for S4?

I'd like a clock/radio that I can dock my S4 on the top of where I can see it, and stream audio to it, as well as let the S4 be the alarm clock if I want. I tried buying a Philips AS140/37 Fidelio (looked like the perfect solution), but discovered it was only good as a clock -- the USB connector would not charge my S4, and the buggy app hasn't been updated in over two years, so I couldn't get it to use the S4 audio.
I've looked all over Amazon for alternatives, and they all seem to either lack important features (Sony makes a nice NFC clock radio but it doesn't cradle the phone -- it just has a USB port in back) or they are poorly Made in China garbage with plenty of 1-star reviews.
It's very frustrating, since there seems to be no shortage of quality docking options for Apple products.
Anyone? How can they sell billions of Android phones and still have no decent accessories??
Same as you. I've searched a ton of docks and most of them works as a clock or as an image frame...
