Hi,
I don't really know, the one thing I know is I deleted it without any side effects in my use. First freeze it to see for a few days (maybe it depends on specific carrier?)...
It seems cause some battery drain for some users: https://www.google.fr/search?client...rilmsgtunnel&sourceid=opera&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8.
But if you have not any problem about battery, let it run in background...

I saw it in other roms (stock and AOSP), the apk is present in /system/app.
I'm in France, Orange.
I have this thing running too.. But it doesn't affect anything so far.. Phone sleep pretty good too.
I would suspect either the sms app or faux clock.. Will check to confirmed..
Edit.. Confirmed not from sms nor faux clock..
But phone running normal even after I killed it.

Hi,
By "faux clock", you mean the app from Faux123 (Faux123 Kernel Enhancement)? If yes..., nope it's not that, the com.qualcomm.qcrilmsgtunnel serice/apk is present on full stock rom...
Something related to the RIL/msg, yes...
EDIT: maybe something related to wifi calling?
i have this app/service/whatever running on my paranoid android rom too. it's one of the handful of apps that i see running from a clean reboot

Alright so I thought my battery was draining due to the backlight (it would show 40%-60% use), now it's it's doing it from the Android OS. All this happens even when I'm not using the phone and it's never done the Android OS thing before. Any suggestions or ideas on why it's doing it would be greatly appreciated

What ROM & kernel are you using? Also, someone mentioned the BetterBatteryStats app can show you what, exactly, is using the battery. It's $2.89 in Google Play.

Yeah, a few people are seeing the battery drain since installing Bryan's latest kernel. I have that issue, too. Bryan said in his kernel thread that it's beta & right now he's working on stability more so than anything else. I like this kernel as my phone had the random reboot issue. I'm ok with the battery drain trade-off for now. You could fall back to a previous version of the kernel & the battery issue should stop.

This still happens to me today only if i touch the screen while i lock it. and as for battery, MoKee OS from TrekFan is the ROM you want if you want battery life. it looks alot like Cyanogenmod and i can go almost 2 and a half days on a full battery with general use. otherwise Charge your phone too 100%, boot into clockworkmod and wipe battery stats, see if that works out for you.
My phone doesn't even want to show when I have 100% but ill give mokee a try. Does it have echoes in pjobe calls? And when going through call logs and texts, does that show the contact or the contacts phone number?

only when you have speaker on, its based off of CyanogenMod so all the issues CM had MoKee will also have. and yeah it does but that you can change in all ROMs for a personal preference.

hi there i got questions about battery!
1) is normal a battery drain 1% for minute during web browsing in edge mode?
i had tried many roms and kernel... always same battery usage, also after calibration!
2) is normal a battery drain of 10-20-30 % (it changes all the time!) when i reeboot in recovery mode for change kernel or to install a theme?
if i change a rom it takes at least 50%...

why? the standard Kernel that comes with it is just fine... use V21a for O3D roms theres more of them and less issues. the only thing i like about the standard Thrill ones is that the connectivity is far better, but id rather have nice and stable, vs connection is good but glitchy.

Your wakelocks or horrible. You need BBS as stated, but the instant drop is indicative of a bug in the stock rom or kernel. If it keeps doing that after the wakelock issues are resolved, you may need to flash another rom.

Doubt it's your kernel. I'm running stock and suffering as well :/ It could also be a defect, some run fine others don't. Same with the same speaker issue, some newer owners especially the red ones claim it sounds better as the old ones.

Installing updates from Play doesn`t make the phone laggy unless there is a problem with an app or some apps. Rebooting after installing updates clears most problems most of the time.

I can't do much with what you have. That's why I requested you provide a BBS log.
I can tell you that you need to go into Developer Options and disable NuPlayer (and reboot). That's (one of) the culprits of crazy battery drain in 5.0. I don't use ElementalX, so I can't say if it's default settings are contributing to your problems or not. You may want to roll with stock until this issue is fixed?
I recommend for now turning off NFC and turning location off or setting to GPS only. Working pretty good on CM12.
