This is a simple Q&A to see if you use light flow and sustain battery shortages on your delightful nexus 5?

It doesn`t kill my battery and i use it for years now.
Use Ledblinker. It doesn't kill any battery. I get 2% drop overnight

Used LF for a few years now and I have no issues with battery drain
No problems here. Used LF since my Galaxy Nexus.
I suppose it's all down to what you've used the app to do. All I've done is set up some LED colours for certain apps. I've not used the sound preferences, I've not changed how often it flashes or the speed of the flashes so I'm using the app in a very basic setup. The more you have the app doing, the more it'll use battery
No.
In contrast to above I use it to control nearly all my notifications, LED colours and flash frequencies. No drain.
There is a lightflow discussion thread here which the developer checks.
Set up the app as per developer's website. If you (still) have actual drain, try to get a logcat plus BBS showing wakelocks. He is pretty responsive to these things

I can't seem to figure out the difference between the screen being on and the device being awake... I thought they were the same thing?
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2
Screen on is the screen is physically on. Awake is the processor is running an apps are using power. You wouldn't want awake to be a lot unless your screen is on a lot. If it is, that means something is running while your screen is off(wake lock). Typically resulting in a bad battery drain.

I've heard of GSam as well as better battery stats, and then being differently priced, is there a key difference or advantage to one or the other? Dropping a buck more for better battery doesn't bother me, I just don't wanna have to buy both in the end.

Better battery stats is very powerful, it reads pretty much everything. It will take a bit of research to understand all of its functions though. It also uses root permissions to dig deep into the kernels power consumption. If you really don't want to donate (pay), the paid version is available in the apps section for free for xda members.

Hi, just wondering of there is a mod for xposed which let's you increase the led blink rate for the stock rom? I don't want to use 3rd party apps ?

Nope. Wondering if this is even possible considering how long it's taking for a module to be available. I would actually pay to have this.

Why don't you want to use an app like LightFlow? Theres quite a few different speed options, works fine for me...

It's an easy edit if you have the ability to de/recompile framwork-res.apk. Edit is here \framework-res.apk\res\values\integers.xml.
Stock:
Code:
<integer name="config_defaultNotificationLedOn">1000</integer>
<integer name="config_defaultNotificationLedOff">9000</integer>
I edit mine to this timing:
Code:
<integer name="config_defaultNotificationLedOn">1750</integer>
<integer name="config_defaultNotificationLedOff">2400</integer>
good day.
Can u share the apk so i can use it, i don't know house to compile

It's a little clunky. Some bugs, not to mention possible battery drains etc. Native solutions are better.
One of the main reason why I ROM is to avoid having to use LF.

I have none of those problems personally. Plus the LED customizations in most ROMs are not as complete as Lightflow.
Oh and it allows me to have Dashclock entries for apps that don't have extensions (e.g. AOSP email app). This is actually the main reason I use Lightflow.
I just found out there is a Modul available for changing LED:
Xposed LED Control

I'm not sure if this is what you're lookin' for but , in GravityBox in "Display tweaks" there's an "option for controlling pulse notification light delay (frequency)"

You actually do have some of these problems, but you don't realize it. There's no battery drain issue, bnut there are definitely bugs in it, that are due to Android's handling of the LED.
1. Rapid blinking of multiple colors when turning screen off -- this happens often, but is by design. I've spoken with the developer and he said there's several situations where Android will screw up the handling of the LED blinking and end up permanently blinking until you restart. Part of the fix for this is to rapidly blink a bunch of colors, which takes care of the issue. This doesn't occur every single time you turn the screen off, but it does happen often. You probably just haven't noticed it, and that's the point -- it's avoiding an annoying bug.
2. Blinking randomly when there is no notification --- this is still a problem, but has been mitigated a good bit over the past few updates. The phone sometimes will just blink for absolutely no reason at all. No notifications, etc, but it'll blink.
Those are the 2 main issues. It also tends to crash on occasion, but again the latest version has fixed/improved that issue.

Again, I have never had these 2 issues. You said #1 happens often, then it probably isn't often enough for me. I always have the phone in front of me and I rarely restart my phone so if it did happen, I would have noticed it.
How many apps do you enable in Lightflow? If you have many pending notifications from many apps at the same time, then I can see how it could potentially mess up. I'm letting Lightflow control the LED for 4 apps only (Hangout, Gmail, Email, Whatsapp).
Light manager is a fine alternative to light flow. I am using it for a few weeks now and it fits my needs.

Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
I went through it. I just need help with the voltages and all that. The best settings for battery life.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
battery life isnt really about what kernel you use. battery life is all about how you use your phone, how you set it up, what apps you use, and most importantly, the quality of your phone/data connection. sure, a kernel might be able to help you get slightly better battery. but its really your use and your signal. and if your signal is bad quality, then your battery will always suffer.
"Good battery life" does not apply to "everybody" that has rooted. Many root and simply expect that battery life must be improved, but still need to understand the basic laws of physics first.
(People's definition of "Good" in this scenario also varies massively...)
It comes down to how you use the device. There is no 'best settings' you should be looking for. Save yourself the time, and first understand what is using your battery.
SOT is a measurement, but a crude one. It offers no insight into what those 6 hours were doing...You can be certain that it wasn't 6 hours gaming at 100% brightness though. Under relatively light CPU load, low brightness, good signal etc...the laws of physics will explain higher SOT...

this past week some people were having problems with the battery life on CM11 ROM, but it seems it's been fixed on the nightly version, try downloading greenify so you can put those annoying battery eating apps to sleep

What I did to improve my battery life was to deny most of the Google apps from waking my device and/or keeping my device awake. I have attached pictures. This improved my battery by atleast double. Also using 2g connection when connected to WiFi.
Those denied numbers have risen to 6 digits.

So you want to maximize your battery
i. Decrease your brightness level to the a good level. It should be 20% if you are in a room
ii. Switch off the Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS if not in use, since they consume battery a lot
iii. Don't install any useless app since they may consume the battery even if the phone is locked
iv. Frequently, close the app which you have used, since they're running in the background and eat up your battery
May be this help you
Hit thanks if helped
Lower screen brightness and disconnect WiFi and 3g/4g connection when you don't need an internet connection.

Settings / battery. THe page before the graph you posted - which apps are listed there, and what are the %? (That said, you use the phone a lot - there is a lot of screen on/ awake time on your graph. Turn the screen brightness down maybe?)

I am also getting the issue. I'm on 6-7, 24.3.7, rooted, and if I use it intensely it will go down to 14% before 3:30 PM. I'm surprised, as the issue never happened when I got the phone new.
If your screen is 42%, you're just using it a lot. The Mini has a small battery. Maybe you can try setting brightness down, but it looks like this is drain because you use it rather than a runaway app or process.
That said, Google Play services and Google services have been running high on my usage list lately. There's not much you can do about that, except maybe turn off background sync, which sort of negates the reason I bought a smartphone in the first place.
