Proper/default APN MMS settings - RAZR HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey everyone
Seems like the classic story, but i've been struggling with MMS since day 1. I recently downloaded evolve sms, and they have a preset verizon APN setting that works, which i'm grateful for.
But i'm trying to understand what the hell these settings are supposed to be...why can't i send mms through any other app? when i ask evolve sms to fetch the APN settings automatically it says it can't, which i assume is what's going on in other apps. and when i go into APN setting i see a long list of a bunch of different options, and default none of those was even selected....
anyway. Does anyone know how this works? or how to set the APN settings to get MMS working through hangouts?

how to fix MMS for samsung phones?

any one has a clue for how can i set up MMS apn?
I've got no clue what that is or does... however I do know if you go to settings, then cellular, for me there is a button that says 'add apn' on my focus for AT&T.
thats add APN for the internet data only, and there is no way to set MMS APN.
mms means "Multimedia Messaging Service" basicly its SMS with pics and videos.
Ah.. yes. I know what sms, mms is.. didn't know what apn is used for. I haven't come across any instances of apn aside from for the data.

[Q] atrix 2 ICS and Straight Talk...

Hi today I got the update notice on my phone, and came here and saw yes it had officially been released.
I did see a thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1801257 that said some people were having issues with the leaked version of ICS and straight talk sending and receiving mms messages.
would i have the same issue with the official update and straight talk?
anyone running the official update and straight talk?
thanks
You just need to set the APN settings. They are the same as they have always been, just in a different location, and programs like APN Backup and Restore cannot access them. It's very simple to set up...just Goolge Straight Talk APN settings Android...

so it is just a matter of entering the apn settings and MMS messages will work?
I would assume the people in the quoted thread tried to enter the apn settings and were still having the issue....is that because of the leak?
thank you for the help

[Q] mms issue on my new g3

Bought my G3 last week, rooted, de-loated and applying Straight Talk APN to run, everything works great with the exception of mms. Even though, I swtiched to hangouts text messaging but still cant able to download any mms. Any idea or settings that might have missed. Highly appreciate it.

I had the same issue. You have make sure that APN type is left blank. This fixed the issue for me. I had to use APN backup then SQLite editor to remove "default" from APN type and restore the APN.
Hope this helps.
Adblock Plus also blocks MMS if you added that.

What does it mean by APN type. Just so you know there is an additional APN menu on Google Hangout(default messenger for me). I did not touch anything there, it's there by default. I have added ST APN and 4g LTE is working fine and also receiving regular text messages. Not sure what else I could check for. I am not using ADBlock plus also..
Thanks,

In the APN settings you should have an option for "APN type". Mine was always defaulting to "default, hipri" whenever I would try to set it up. If you can leave it blank without it defaulting back, you should be good. I had to make a backup of the APN then change the database and restore it to make it stick. I will try to post some images for you.

Hangouts APN settings? Do I need to fill it in?

Hangouts as I'm sure you know, has it's own APN settings. Is it safe for me just to delete all of the profiles?
If I delete the APN's in hangouts, It uses the system set APN correct?
Also, my carrier gave me this info, and I want to make sure it's all I need(In device settings)
Name
APN
MMSC
APN type
Is that all I need? Just asking because I noticed there were a bunch of other settings, and my connection always cuts out (probably a carrier/location issue).
Still waiting on hangouts update, thank God they added Google voice.
Bump!
You do not have to fill in the APN settings inside Hangouts unless you are having problems with the application. The settings supplied by your carrier should be all you need to configure in your mobility network APN settings.

Can't send or receive mms anymore

As the title states I can no longer send or receive mms on att. The only thing I've done is root the phone. I installed Greenify but have since disabled it to make sure that's not the issue. Also I debloated some stuff but did that way before I rooted and way before the mms issue started. I checked my apn settings and nothing seems out of place. I created a new apn and changed the apn protocol from ipv4/ipv6 to just ipv4 per an older thread I found.
When I reboot the phone, all all of the mms will come through and I'm able to send them as well for just a few minutes and then the problem shows again. It doesn't matter which texting app I use either. Tried stock, Textra and handcent. All unique error messages of course but same issue.
Anyone else? Can't find anything similar.

Did you turn on your data?
Yes, data works fine.

Are you running AdBlock? If so, it's blocking ads and your MMS pictures on port 80. Switch your APN settings to MMS port 8080, and your MMS should work again. Had the same issue and took me a few hours to figure it out.
