As the title states I can no longer send or receive mms on att. The only thing I've done is root the phone. I installed Greenify but have since disabled it to make sure that's not the issue. Also I debloated some stuff but did that way before I rooted and way before the mms issue started. I checked my apn settings and nothing seems out of place. I created a new apn and changed the apn protocol from ipv4/ipv6 to just ipv4 per an older thread I found.
When I reboot the phone, all all of the mms will come through and I'm able to send them as well for just a few minutes and then the problem shows again. It doesn't matter which texting app I use either. Tried stock, Textra and handcent. All unique error messages of course but same issue.
Anyone else? Can't find anything similar.

Did you turn on your data?
Yes, data works fine.

Are you running AdBlock? If so, it's blocking ads and your MMS pictures on port 80. Switch your APN settings to MMS port 8080, and your MMS should work again. Had the same issue and took me a few hours to figure it out.

I have some issues with my Skyrocket. It likes to take a long delay sometimes when trying to load anything with internet. Sometimes just 10-15 seconds, then loads perfectly. Other times, hours.
The only fix I have found with this is using the Tweakker app's APN settings for 4G(LTE). However, when I use this APN I can no longer receive MMS messages.
Can you guys tell me what APN settings I could use to be able to use my internet correctly AND get MMS?
Thanks for any help

search for AT&T PTA.
Turn on DATA in settings and it use data for a bit, reboot. and AT&T should force the PTA APN to your phone, it then becomes un-editable. Also, make sure you have the correct baseband radio; then the PTA apn will be pushed to you.
If you are still having issues recieving MMS. it's bcuz your MMS APK is AOSP. AOSP MMS won't let you receive pic msgs from non-android phones.
Again Please Search Before Posting New Thread!!!!!! I am sure you will find you answer!!!!!
NRM Was Here_______-----_________!
I have tried other apps like Textra, etc, but none of them can handle MMS properly. If I am on WiFi, MMS will never download or send. If I turn off WiFi, I have about a 50% success rate and they usually end up coming in hours later. I have tried different ROMs, different APN settings, different apps. It is a shame that T-Mobile sells this phone with pathetic MMS capabilities on their network. I understand it works fine with other networks, but T-Mobile is atrocious.
So, is there anyone out there using this phone T-Mobile who doesn't want to throw their phone in the ocean when dealing with MMS? I'd be interested to know your setup.
Thanks for your help?
not a single issue with sms or mms here, on tmobile in nyc. do you have the correct apn? or do you have it entered correctly? im using the fast.tmobile.com apn.
Same here no problems with native messaging app and textra
No problem with stock AOSP MMS or Hangouts or 8SMS. I did have trouble with another third party client but I don't remember what it was, think maybe Textra the same one you used.
No problems with MMS although I will admit I had some problems with MMS but that was the app's fault. I had to manually put the MMS because the auto detection wasn't working just yet. I'm using chompSMS. Textra SMS worked fine as well.
Ensure you have the right APN. Also the T-Mobile APN is fast.t-mobile.com the - matters.
No issues with Purity rom and MMS...
Go to Settings>Wireless&Networks>More>Mobile Network>Access Point Names and select T-Mobile. If there isn't one then add one with the name T-Mobile and the address as fast.t-mobile.com should fix your MMS issues

Which APN?
Are you on Android L? Sounds like the same issues I had. I tried all the APN tricks and it still wouldn't work. I would get them occasionally when off Wifi. On stock 4.4.4 I don't normally have issues with MMS.
Bought my G3 last week, rooted, de-loated and applying Straight Talk APN to run, everything works great with the exception of mms. Even though, I swtiched to hangouts text messaging but still cant able to download any mms. Any idea or settings that might have missed. Highly appreciate it.

I had the same issue. You have make sure that APN type is left blank. This fixed the issue for me. I had to use APN backup then SQLite editor to remove "default" from APN type and restore the APN.
Hope this helps.
Adblock Plus also blocks MMS if you added that.

What does it mean by APN type. Just so you know there is an additional APN menu on Google Hangout(default messenger for me). I did not touch anything there, it's there by default. I have added ST APN and 4g LTE is working fine and also receiving regular text messages. Not sure what else I could check for. I am not using ADBlock plus also..
Thanks,

In the APN settings you should have an option for "APN type". Mine was always defaulting to "default, hipri" whenever I would try to set it up. If you can leave it blank without it defaulting back, you should be good. I had to make a backup of the APN then change the database and restore it to make it stick. I will try to post some images for you.

That was my issue. Stupid AdBlock. Lol. Thanks.
Hi guys - It seems my XT1045 just does not want to MMS, either send or receive. I have the AT&T Go Phone Service. I took my SIM out and put it in my iPhone 3gs and MMS works just fine. So it is not the service, but I am sure it is the phone.
I couldn't access the APN settings on the iPhone so I am not too sure of what is being used. I had UnLockIt.co.nz do the APN settings a few years ago. But now I cannot access that site anymore. So like I said, I do not know what the APN settings are.
I have tried different apps like the default app, an app called Messengers, and Handcent SMS, the results are all the same. I have also tried the various APNs for AT&T still with no luck. And I do have Data on, WiFi off.
So I raise the question, does anyone here have the XT1045, AT&T GoPhone Service, and capable of sending and receiving MMS?
Everything else works fine. voice, data, standard SMS, but no MMS.
Thanks,
Brian D
[Solved] Issues with Moto XT1045 and AT&T MMS
After much more research, I find that AdBlock Plus (ABP) may be the reason my MMS is not working. Has something to do with affecting Port 80 which is used by MMS to send and receive picture messages. I disabled ABP and it worked but not all the time. More research was needed.
Found that instead of using Port 80, I needed to change to Port 8080. This also worked. Started ABP and tested one more time. This time it worked. Not sure of the relationship of MMS Port 80 and ABP using/blocking Port 80.
The solution to this issue was to change my APN which is the default created either by the XT1045 based off of the network being used, or AT&T generated the APN. Either way, MMS Port should be 8080.
SOLUTION:
I had a magisk module that changed my DNS and that was messing with my MMS. Thanks @masri1987
I have been having some issues with my OP6. When I first got it, it refused to send MMS messages. I used the phone for a while and then I called tmobile and set up the APN correctly to the way they wanted it. After that, I started receiving notifications that I had a new MMS message but the phone refused to download them or send them. It would always give me an error. I got in touch with OnePlus's very mediocre support and they told me to factory reset my device since they couldn't do anything else. I went ahead and reset it and my MMS started working. Now 1 day later, they stopped coming in and sending again. I am getting the same errors as before. I really do not want to factory reset my phone every other day.
Anyone else here experience this and if so, how did you go about fixing it?
Thanks.

Tried it. Tried that, tried resetting network settings, and I tried switching between the default and the tmobile recommended APNs. Still issue persists. It only goes away on a factory reset.
What texting app are you using? I know I have had issues with MMS messages using Textra on T-Mobile. Have you tried a different app?

I tried the default app and Pulse. Same thing either way
Is it a specific error, or just states that it failed to send?

Just the generic "MMS failed to download"
and "Sending failed. Will retry later"

Are you rooted/custom rom/kernel?
I really don't have any issues either with MMS and I am on T-Mobile. I am rooted, running xXx along with EX kernel.
by any chance are you using magisk module that changes DNS settings? if so remove it. same thing happened to me....
This has been reported by many users on various devices for several years. It seems to occur most on unlocked OEM (not T-Mobile locked) devices.
So far, I have not had this issue with my OP6. I use the Mood app for SMS/MMS.
My OP6 replaced a Nexus 6 that I had for three years. It had sporadic but persistent problems with MMS until I ran across this page:
https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-2090
As I said I haven't had the MMS problem so far on my OP6 so I'm not sure if the above will solve your problem, but I hope so!
I had this problem , if I turned off WiFi & restarted the phone it worked, but I fixed it by setting APN PROTOCOL & APN ROAMING PROTOCOL to both ipv6 with WiFi working & I had the DNS crypt module enabled it worked. I uninstalled that module though and set APN PROTOCOL to ipv6 & APN ROAMING PROTOCOL to ipv4 & 6 & it worked again. I settled on ipv6 for both without the module. Any ways now I can send mms messages on T-Mobile

is that a marriage proposal?
and you are welcome, i obviously had the same issue. so glad i was able to help.
Not to get off topic, that means I'm definitely getting off topic ? what does dnscrypt proxy 2 magisk module actually do? Cause I was able to send mms messages with that module enabled if I set ipv6 to both options apn settings.
question, does the one plus sms app allow us to send multiple mms at the same time? i can only send one at a time ..
