Hi all!
I'm a brand new owner of a Moto G XT1032, bought it on Amazon and got it today!
I've read the faqs and the resource guide, but I still don't know:
Is it possible to root this model number? And if yes, which method is best?
(I know I'd need to unlock the boot loader first)
I ask this because in the resource guide it's written that there is no supporting custom recovery for this variant and I don't understand if I can get root or not.
Thanks!
And forgive my English.
All versions are working.
In prefere PhilZ Recovery.
Just unlock Bootloader, flash PhilZ Recovery install SuperSU, done.

How about looking here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2545688
There are no features to unlock.
Just follow my link above and flash this recovery.
You can read here how zou can flash.
Before that you have to unlock Bootloader.
You also might use the search function.

Hey, thanks for your help!
I succesfully unlocked the bootloader; then I extracted recovery.img from Philz's zip and flashed it via fastboot.
I got no errors, but the recovery is still STOCK..
What am I missing???

Hey uys, first off if this is a dupe, my bad. I did a bit of searching and couldnt find a topic that addressed this question specifically for the droid maxx DE.
I have my DE on 4.2.2, never took any updates. I have since unlocked the bootloader, and am rooted.
I wanted to know if rooting this phone with bootloader unlocked was as simple as installing supersu or superuser from the play store? I have heard that with an unlocked bootloader there is no additional steps needed (such as rock/pwn mymoto etc). Can anyone confirm that this is true?
Also does the same apply with KitKat? Am I simply able to root by installing supersu since my bootloader is unlocked?
Thank you and appreciate the help.

It IS simple but not as simple as that. After you unlock you need to flash TWRP, after that in the bootloader menu boot recovery then reboot from recovery and it will ask if you want to install Su, swype to to that and then you're rooted. The same method applies to KitKat.

in theory, yes. I've had an issue with getting root to stick using CWM touch. If you use a recovery other than TWRP and it doesn't work you can always root using TWRP then flash your recovery of choice after.
What is correct CWM recovery for xt1080 ?
I am looking here:
http://clockworkmod.com/rommanager
and here:
http://goo.im/devs/cm
I dont see any of xt1080, or Droid Ultra/Maxx/Mini.
I have a Dev Ed xt1080
On philz site:
http://goo.im/devs/philz_touch/CWM_Advanced_Edition
there is only "moto_msm8960" and no "moto_msm8960dt".
Help
the msm_8960dt is the one you need as i am using the same thing since i have the dev edition also

Thank you for your reply. I know the "dt" version ROM is for this phone, but that isn't the question.
My question is: What is the correct CWM recovery for this phone? Where do I find it?
Thanks

Hi. Been out the loop for a while and struggling to find the answer to my question.
I'm on 4.4.4 no custom revovery but with root.
I have an OTA notice to go to lollipop, which should be fine, as I have stock evetything?
How do I simply get root back afer the update?
So many posts with options, I'm struggling to find the right answer.
Unlock bootloader, and then either use cf-autoroot or flash latest SuperSU BETA through twrp.

Thanks, bootloader is already unlocked. I don't really want to install any custom recoveries, so the cf-autoroot sounds like the way to go.
Do you have a link for how to use this method?
Here you go http://autoroot.chainfire.eu/

thanks.. I found a thread but its for LOCKED bootloader.. mine is already unlocked... Is there any way to re-lock my bootloader?
The procedure is same for unlocked bootloader (for rooting you don't need to downgrade if unlocked but since you're rooted it matters not).

Wait, you say you already have TWRP, so you have installed a recovery already. Just flash one of the multitude of pre-rooted lollipop roms from the general section

Install a recovery, flash a pre-rooted lollipop rom.
Find recovery in the dev section (If you already have recovery you are OK)
Find pre-rooted flashable zips in the general section, download it, flash it.

Hey, so i want to root my Moto G XT1033 16GB dual SIM running android 5.0.2.
I've bricked a smarthone before while trying to root it, so i want some help to root my phone the safest way possible. My warranty has already expired.
Obs: my phone is from brazil, i'm not sure if that changes anything.
I've attatched a screenshot if any other info is needed.
If you have a custom recovery installed you can flash it from there. Go here and grab SuperSU and follow the instructions.

My "Coolpad Note 3" is not booting into recovery mode after Flashing Cool ui 8 V22 Rom & TWRP Recovery. However Normally its booting absolutely fine and its quite stable Rom. But I seriously need to flash TWRP in order to install SuperSU and Xposed Installer. Anyone Please suggest any solution Asap.
(Also My Titanium Backup(Apps+Data) could only be restored after granting root access).

Did you flash the correct recovery for your model number?
Have you tried flashing the recovery again?

Yes I Have flashed the correct recovery with SP FLASH TOOL (Mtk 6753 Scatter file). It shows that it will boot into recovery mode but again screen blanks and same process repeats.

Do you know of your bootloader was unlocked before you flashed the recovery?
If it was locked then that is why it won't boot to recovery.

Yes, it's the same for all android.
adb reboot recovery
This still doesn't work if your bootloader was locked when you flashed your recovery.
If the bootloader was locked, you'll have to flash a copy of your stock recovery.
Then unlock the bootloader, then flash the recovery. It will probably work correctly then.

As I Know, Coolpad Note 3 comes with pre-unlocked bootloader. And Earlier I had TWRP installed in it with the same method. I dont think so The Bootloader was Locked as I Have flashed Cool Ui 8.....nd that was done quite easily.

Ok, if you had TWRP on it before then it isn't locked.
Did you at any point create a nandroid backup while that version of TWRP was installed? Have you tried flashing that same version of TWRP?

Yes, those are nandroid backups.
Can you flash the recovery that you used to create those backups? Or is that the same recovery that you're trying to flash now but can't get it to boot?

I dont remember the exact version of Twrp as its not officially available for my device. But ya..I had tried to flash 2-3 recovery.img 's (including the one which I flashed earlier). But no one worked...it just repeats the same process.

The device may have came with bootloader unlocked when you got it, but you flashed a stock update Cool UI 8, if that stock update came with a locked bootloader as part of the update package then your bootloader is locked now, and that would still explain why you can't flash or boot to TWRP.
Verify whether the Cool UI 8 v22 firmware itself came with an updated and locked bootloader. It has nothing to do with whether your device came with unlocked bootloader.

I'm not sure about the bootloader, I didn't find anything about unlocking bootloader for Cool UI 8 v22. Does it have a "OEM unlock" setting in system settings? If so, enable it and then see if you can flash/boot TWRP. Try fastboot with the following command:
fastboot oem unlock
But I did find something about how to root your device, if the information is correct. You might be able to root what you have then use FireFlash or Flashify to flash the Xposed Framework and get it working. You probably won't have unlocked bootloader or TWRP though.
But, you also might be able to downgrade to your previous firmware but I'm not sure if that will unlock your bootloader or not. The locked bootloader might not allow you to downgrade your firmware.
